all right.

A little too expensive in my opinion...
Top Case $85
Bottom Case $95
LCD Front Cover $60
LCD Back Cover $75
without shipping.
I really don't need the back cover for the LCD but I bet its a part that easily broken on disasembly. If any of the other dealers could help me it would be great. Laptop was very solid for over 2 years of heavy use.
Also I figured since this is the owners lounge thread, I would try to get help with anther problem. Recently got a 4K monitor. Is there any way to get this laptop to output at full 4k at 60hz? Also it seems that even at 30hz its still experiencing weird issues with minute lag. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The bezel (front of the LCD) is actually the most fragile part, the back is fairly sturdy.

Hi, apologies for the daft question - what's the difference between a P150HM / P150EM / P150SM ?
I'd like to upgrade the GPU on my 2011 P150HM, are the MXM modules & heatsinks compatible across the range?
Thanks -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Motherboard chipset and CPU generation supported, they are basically generations of motherboards.
HM = 2xxx series CPU support, EM = 2xxx and 3xxx series CPU support, SM = 4xxx series CPU support.
Some of the way the EC (the internal chip monitoring temperatures and fan speeds) was changed to a more standard method starting with the EM series. The EM series also introduced optimus. -
Thanks for the info Meaker! Appreciate it.
Has anyone ever tried putting a Geforce 980M into a P150HM? Would it work?
Thanks -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes they have and no it does not due to the non standard EC setup the HM uses.
-
Ah, rats. That's a pity. Any feasible ways around that or is that end of story?

Hello!
I own a NP9150. A couple of days ago I left the PC and some time ago when i returned was off, not sure if due to over heating problems. I restarted the PC but the WIFI card is not working. I have W7, 32 bits. I have tried windows diagnostim anf fix the problem but is no good. In system manager it says the device is working correctly. Does anyone knw if there is a key to habilite and dishabilitate the Wifi. Is the one with the airplane?
My other notebook ha no problem to connect to my net, so it not a problem of the ruter or the network configuration. In fact, around I have plenty of others nets and I can seen none.
Any suggestions?
Thank you very much in advance! Martin. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It is the one with the aeroplane yes. Have you tried removing the drivers and putting them back on again? Also why are you running 32 bit windows?

-
Yes I have tried that.
I am running 32 bits because I heard that there could be some issues with some pregrams, even if the core program of firefow works fine, some plugins don't. I have been tempted since I hace 8 Gb of Ram and I only use 4, due to the 32 bits OS. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You actually have less than 4GB as ALL address space has to fit within that which means your vram will be limited too.

Hi guys need your help I have a 120GB crucial msata with is currently with my programs and all my 1tb hard disk drive is used for storage of files movies etc. I upgraded it to an Samsung 840evolution 500gb SSD. Will my programs run faster with 840evo with OS? Or I should stick to msata as OS only drive and use SSD for programs and files? Thanks guys
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The 840 evo will be a lot faster at writing data, I would have the OS on the 120GB drive since loading it is mostly a read operation.

Quick question. I have an NP9150 with an i7-3610QM and for the longest time one of the fans has been running loud 24/7. I eventually downloaded HWiNFO and learned that my CPU has been idling at around 80 degrees.
I followed these steps and knocked the idle temps down to about 70: Go into the power options in control panel and click on change plan settings next to whatever plan you have selected. Then click on change advanced settings. Under processor power management set the processor minimum states for both plugged and unplugged to 5%. Set both on system cooling policy to active.
The high performance power plan had the processor minimum state at 100% so my cpu was always in boost mode.
So now I'm idling at around 70 degrees, which still seems like it's too high by about 20-30 degrees.
Any ideas as to how I should proceed in order to get these temperatures down?
Thank you in advance! -
yes that is still too warm. open up your case as check to see the fans and heatsinks are clean. have you ever repasted your cpu? you might also make sure the cpu heatsink it firmly attached.
for referencse my cpu idles about 35-40c -

You may notice a slight difference, but nothing like going from HDD to SSD. Changing brands of SSD may yield faster results in some areas, like Meaker mentioned in write speeds. But that will be pretty rare when you are copying such large files from SSD to SSD to notice. -
Sooo... I started my computer this morning and it kept displaying the American Megatrends screen at the very beginning... It's stuck there and I can't even get in to the bios... Any ideas?
Version: 2.15.1227.
No beeping sounds either. It's really annoying. I removed the battery and the power plug for an entire week and still the same. I also removed all external devices.
Is my mobo broken...? -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Depending on your warranty and how comfortable you are with opening the computer you may want remove the RAM and try one stick at a time and different slots. You can also remove the hard drive to see if the POST gets any further, it could be stalling because of a bad hard drive that its try to boot. -
So I tried the RAM in all the different slots, one stick at a time, no joy. Then I removed the CPU, it didn't boot at all (which is normal)... I also tried removing the SSD, same thing... I really think my mobo died...
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Thanks for giving those a shot. I would think if its something actually with the motherboard hardware wise you would not get the American Megatrends splash. Have you tried updating the BIOS? To get the latest version you will want to email your original reseller to request it, they should be able to email it to you. -
Hi, I flashed the mobo about a year ago because of the fan problem. Never had an issue with it before. It also just randomly happened. I can't even flash the BIOS since I can't ge further then the splash screen.

@geunsjl
It may be the BIOS chip. Replacing it could get everything running again, but that kind of work is very involved and it can be difficult to find a local technician that can do it and source a compatible replacement.
So even barebones (CPU and one stick of RAM) you get nowhere? -
Did you also remove the BIOS battery (below the keyboard) to reset the CMOS?
If you did that already remove the MXM card and try to boot (it'll thermal shutdown after a short while, that's normal) -
Is it possible to upgrade to GTX 980M?
I've found this video and several other forums saying that it may be possible to skip the 700 and 800 series and upgrade to the 900 series of nvidia graphics card.
Can anyone confirm this? -
Looks possible but why would you want when:
A: Optimus blows and the new systems with the 980M don't utilize it and...
B: The processor and other components are outdated.
It's 3 generations past the 680M, time to do a full upgrade. -
Optimus wont work? Is that what you are saying?
Please check this: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2923779/how-to-upgrade-graphics-in-a-laptop.html -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
A: Optimus will work as normal, it's great if you need the battery life.
B: The processor is still good enough for any gaming.
C: The 680M is a single true hardware generation behind making this fully viable.
Yes you can use the 980M, check premamod.com and get the required bios from him (and drop him some beer money
)

Thank you that's what i wanted to hear
My real doubt right now is:
Should I do a full upgrade to my actual system like buying the gtx 980m, a new CPU and even a ssd hard drive and stick with it for a couple of more years or should I do a minimal upgrade like buying the gtx 970m (which seems to be enough for me right now) and maybe an msata ssd hard drive and wait for the new generation of clevo laptops to come out with new generation CPU's and GPU's?
What would you recommend? -

Question about the optimus please:
Does anyone who games or does intensive work on external monitors via hdmi have any issues with optimus? I have been reading up that some dont utilize the nvidia gpu and relies on cpu igpu for hdmi out. I just want to hear from people who game via hdmi regularly ? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It does not matter the connection used, internal or external if run through optimus the performance will be the same. It works fine for the vast majority of games it's just the odd title that has issues.

Hi. I own the p150em case, with i7 3630QM and 680M. I want to repaste my CPU, and have been looking at different types of thermal paste. My question is: Can I use the Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra?
(I'm not sure if the p150EM heatsink etc is full copper or not, therefore this question)
Info about the paste:
The product consists of 100% metal, it is conductive. It also means that you must not use coolers with aluminum base with this paste as it gets aluminum to disintegrate. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'd advise sticking with IC diamond, it's a lot easier to work with and forgiving slight heatsink mating differences.
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
I'd also suggest IC Diamond. We do hear good things about Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra, but its tougher to use and doesn't make a night and day difference.

Thanks for the advices, im gonna go with it

Hey guys,
I downloaded the newest version of drivers for my 7970m from the autodetect of the AMD website. Unfortunately when my computer restarted I was thrown back to windows basic. Im considering running a restore point to before I downloaded the new driver. Does anyone know a way to re-enable Windows Aero or a safe place to download the latest 7970m drivers for my laptop? Many thanks! -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Aero should turn itself back on once you get the GPU drivers fixed. If the latest version is causing that for you I would go with the latest ones released by Sager. While they will not be as new as the AMD ones they will be stable. -
It seems the latest drivers from sager directly are from May 2012. Better than nothing though. Thanks!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can try installing the official drivers and then putting the latest over the top.

So I recently got into thermal imaging and wanted to have a look at my P150EM heatsinks etc.
Shown in the pic there's a hot component under idle, significantly warmer than the rest of the similar components around it, along with the whole motherboard area around it being warmer than the rest of the motherboard.
Is this under spec, or is the component burning out? My warranty has like 3 weeks to go. -
Ran into a weird problem yesterday. Everytime I press the area under the left Control key (where the stickers are, left of the touchpad) the right side backlight lightning of my keyboard will turn on. It's very weird.
Could this be a hardware issue or something? What's under the sticker area? It's only the numpad area that illuminates, as soon as I remove pressure on the left area, the backlights turn off again.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue? I don't feel like contacting XMG as I already got the keyboard replaced (and now this one actually works fine typing-wise...) -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Seems like a loose cable maybe? As for the hot area above then yes inductors will get hot and the area around it looks cool due to the plastic blocking the heat transmission (which heats up the surrounding PCB leading to a sharper contrast).

It does sound like a loose cable, have you opened it up to reseat it to test.

126.7 F/52 - 53 C isn't bad. Your fan appears a little dirty, though. It could be high time to take an air compressor to the system.
