Yep and you can just take the fan off without HAVING to repaste (though consider it) to clean it.

Hey all, I've had my Sager for a little over 3 years now and it's still in great working condition. I recently made an upgrade to the new NP-9752 and just awaiting shipment from xotic-pc. I'm thinking of trying to sell my current laptop, brief specs in my sig, anyone here try selling their old rigs recently? I was going to try ebay but I vaguely remember a part of these forums dedicated to re-selling members etc., but I couldn't find anything

For my Sager NP9150, is it possible to upgrade my Nvidia 680M to the Nvidia 980M?

Yes using the prema system bios from his website. Just be sure to leave some beer money for his efforts.

Being new is not an issue at all, however if you google "prema system bios" it's the first result ;)

Anyone put Windows 10 on these laptops? Do the clevo drivers work, the 'Control Center' thing like for the wifi on/off/etc and the fingerprint reader?

I've heard good things about the software in general moving over but not much about the versions on this machine.

I was wondering on windows 10 my self. if someone did get it to work what special steps they had to take, if any. my friend has a Dell laptop with NVIDIA® Optimus™ and could not get window 10 to use the Nvidia card no matter what drivers he tried, just black screens on all his games. so I will wait for the reports of success on a Sager before I try it my self. we have a year so no real rush, to get it done.
one note he says it is real easy to roll back to your old windows, you have 1 month.

Yes you get 30 days to roll back if you don't like it, though I would advise taking a backup anyway.

Hi everyone, I have installed Windows 10 64x Pro and I have a problem to overclock with Afterburner 4.1.1.
I have done the classic 2 adjustments to the .cfg file.

    • Seek UnofficialOverclockingEULA field and add following text:
I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
    • Set UnofficialOverclockingMode to 1 to keep PowerPlay active (may not work on old ASICs), 2 to traditionally disable PowerPlay or to 0 to temporary disable unofficial overclocking path

However, the core clock/memory clock slider does not let me go over default 850/1200.
Anybody knows what to do? I have googled for 5 hours and found nothing.

Before I had windows 8.1 64x Pro and had no problems overclocking 930/1350 whatsoever.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Just curious, have you tried any other overclocking software? That might let you know if it is something specific going on with Afterburner. Have you maybe tried an older version possibly, or different GPU drivers as well?

Thank you for answering Pat. I have not tried any other overclocking software, but I will. I have tried older versions of MSI Afterburner with negative results. I have not tried any other GPU drivers (I use AMD Catalyst 15.7.1) as I have a fresh install of Windows 10. The only thing that bothers me is that no one writes about having problems overclocking 7970M under Windows 10 (Google gave no results) and people overclock, so I think it might be some small thing I am doing wrong.

The only issue I've run into is the Hotkey utility (and keyboard backlight) not working correctly. Without it, the backlight is flakey and only blue. It doesn't come on when the computer comes out of sleep, but will turn on/off via function key. With the hotkey utility installed, the backlight works as intended but the hotkey utility its self crashes upon coming out of sleep and sits in taskbar looking ugly.

Nvidia drivers and my 680M are working fine, no issues with games.

I don't think a lot of things handled Unity all that well, unless they have fixed that game (I haven't played it tbh). You would want to reach out to your reseller and find out. Since you have the XPC banner there, I would say email [email protected], and we can get you a price on it. Include your model or serial number as well.

    Hello...

I am with some problems with my Sager NP9150 (GTX680M and a SSD Evo 500) with Windows 10

In the last week my PC is randomly shutting down (no blue screen, just a instantly black screen)
So, when I try to turn on again it stays like a 25s with monitor off ,keyboard with lights on and coolers off. After that all 3 left leds starts to blink and coolers turn on maximum and nothing happens...

If I wait a while it usually work again,, Somedays it works fine without any problem all day.
First thing I suspected was the temperature... So I cleaned all cooler and installed SpeedFan :
    Idle with FN+1 = All cores < 35C
    Idle without FN+1= ~50C
It does not show my GPU temp.

So I think the temps are ok, right? What else could be the cause of that? Any test that I can do?

    Thanks

It could be a short on the board, weak power connector, battery issue... you could try a repaste and reseat of all the major parts.

Hello, I have a problem with my Clevo P150em with Radeon 7970m on Windows 10. I have jest updated Windows from 8.1 to 10 (I've made a clean install) and something goes wrong with (probably) graphics. When, after playing a game, I restart laptop, I have BSOD (THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER dxgkrnl.sys). I've tried to change AMD drivers form 15.7.1 to 15.8 beta (cleaining the old one with DDU) but it didn't solve the problem. Any ideas what may me the reason and what to do? My secondary graphics is Intel HD 4000 (and I have Intel's drivers for Windows 10 installed).

Hi, I have had this 'THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER' (without the dxgkrnl.sys) after I installed 15.8 beta, had to restart sometimes 15-20 times till I got to my computer. The only way to fix this was going to Control Panel and disable 7970M in device manager>>display adapters. Every time I want to play a game I just re-enable 7970M, no restart required :)

Having the same issue, reinstalled Windows 10 on my SSD about three times with different Intel+AMD driver combos to try and make this work but constant BSOD. Got tired of it and went back to Windows 8.1.

1 day later I remembered leshcatlabs, not going to try again since it's a pain the ass to install every piece of software, but here's the link and please comment on the results later:

    Hey guys,

Thanks again for support and help. I'm going to be doing the 980M upgrade to my Sager NP9150

Do I just follow the instructions from here?

    Detailed Upgrade Process:
-Download new Drivers, do not install
    -Uninstall existing Drivers
    -Download and Install latest BIOS
    -Turn off Racer 2
    -Unplug Power and remove Battery
    -Remove existing card and Heat-Sink
-Verify proper thermal pad layout and test fit between heat-sink and 980M outside of system
    -Install card
    -Thermal NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M
    -Install heat-sink
    -Re-assemble Sager
-Install battery and plug in Sager
    -Turn on Racer 2
    -Install Drivers

For the BIOS, I use the Prema BIOS?
    https://biosmods.wordpress.com/p150em/

    Which BIOS do I use?
    K1 or K2?
    Normal or 2T?

And I would be using the Nvidia drivers, right?

    Thanks in advance

You'll want Prema's latest system BIOS for your machine yes.

Go for 2T if you have 4 memory sticks and the other if you have 2.

Hi, I go back the last pages and didn't found nothing about...
Anyone haves a site which keep track of the new drivers for our machine? I have searched on my reseller and many others, but it appears that everyone holds 2013 drivers...
Someone haves a list or wants to compile one from scratch with me?

Hm, I am confused right now, as I understood it this way that 2T is for RAM with higher frequencies and slower latencies.

2t is the default for 4 sticks to minimise issues, but hey if you are confident go ahead.

Hey guys. I have a np9150 i7 with GTX 670m graphics, 16gb of ram, 95% screen, bluray drive, and steel series keyboard. I love the rig but looking to sell it. Any idea what they might go for now a days? Otherwise it's been an amazing device and still runs anything I throw at it.

3rd Generation Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7-3610QM is the processor and it has an Intel AC card in it too.

Surprised it's depreciated that much. Almost makes me wonder if I should keep it or give it to friend or family.

well I run a m18x r2 with 3920xm and single 780m, many forummers are quoting 700 to 900 usd so yeah np9150 should 400 to 500 usd at best.

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to these forums, but need to ask some rather important questions as I can't seem to resolve my issue. Lately, my Sager NP9150 (with Intel i7-3630QM CPU, GeForce GTX675M GPU, and 8GB ram) has been giving me the Blue Screen of Death ("attempt to restart display driver failed") after random periods of gaming. I still run Windows 7, as my Windows 10 install bricked my computer and I required a clean install of 7.

BlueScreenView has given me the following sources of the issue:
    nvlddmkm.sys
    dxgkrnl.sys
    dxgmms1.sys

From what I've gathered this is due to the GPU. I've tried some tips involving deleting and reinstalling all drivers, lowering settings on all games, thoroughly cleaning the fans and internal components, and even starting experimenting with under-clocking. It does not appear to be a heat issue, as I've been running GPU-Z during gaming and when looking at the logs it only ever reaches about 65C before the BSOD.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Has this already been discussed?

I'm beginning to worry that I've worn out my GPU over the last 3-ish years and will now need to get a new card, although the games will run perfectly fine for anywhere from 15-90 minutes before seemingly randomly BSOD-ing.

Thanks in advance for any and all information you can provide :)

So my P150EM died recently. I think it is a motherboard issue. Not looking forward to the idea of it needing to be fully replaced (assuming that is the issue) and potentially spending around $300 not to mention more because of labor and shipping costs. If that's the case, I'm not even sure if it worth the return of investment. But at the same time, I don't have a computer anymore which sucks. It'll probably be a 2-3 months before I can afford a new computer and a month at least before I can even afford to try and repair this machine.

Should I just try to part out the machine? My specs are in my signature.

If the computer was still running well before it crashed, and you weren't having any issues with it's performance, might be worth fixing it. At least that would get you hopefully a few more months at least, then you could look at getting a new system. You could see if anybody is interested in parts, but that still leaves you without a computer for a longer period probably? Doesn't hurt to check, at least you might get an idea of how long it might take to be ready to by a new one, then compare the downtime.

I bought a P151EM1 and was wondering if anyone had any idea if a keyboard from a P150EM would work in it? It appears that the connectors are the same, I also in the service manual did not see a second revision of the motherboard.

I plan on flashing the modified bios that is floating around to enable XTU amongst other things if it matters.

Every game seems to get smoother since Crimson, no stuttering all maxed (specially in COD advanced warfare). Bioshock Infinite and Rebel Galaxy also, though both are not very demanding games :)

RESOLVED: I keep Afterburner for OSD, but I can only overclock using Sapphire TRIXX to stable 950/1350 (default is 850/1200). This and new Crimson driver makes gaming (COD Advanced Warfare) enjoyable.

You need to flash the Prema modded system bios before installing the card, also if you are using your old heatsink you need to move the thermal pads to match with the positions of the parts.

Thank you so much for your help. I have another question. On the Prema Mod website: https://biosmods.wordpress.com/p150em/ Prema said: " IF THE CURRENT SYSTEM BIOS / EC IS 1.00.03 OR EARLIER, IT IS MANDATORY TO UPDATE TO 1.00.04 BEFORE USING THIS MOD!" I am using the June 2012 BIOS from Sager, does that mean have to get an update BIOS from Sager first before flashing Prema mod? Again, Thank you so much for helping me.

My NP9150 is on the Nvidia 680M card.
I'm planning to upgrade to the Nvidia 980M

Where online is the best possible price I can get the whole 980M install kit for?

    Thank you

Enter the bios and double check from there to be sure of your version number.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/nVidia-GeFo...954340?hash=item280c0e47e4:g:3w4AAOSwLVZVvV3Q This is where im planning to buy my kit from. The shop has a lot of good reviews and its the cheapest one i found on the internet.

You can also buy kits from retailers like the shop in Canada associated with Prema as well.
