    Haha that's so weird!
I got my email from XoticPC and my order is already in my City, and it's estimated delivery time is the end of today! So excited!
I guess the wait was worth it for this laptop lol.

Just got mine 2 days ago (and hence have been going nut on setup). So Sager shipped it with only 8G instead of the 16G (albeit with 800/1600MHz in lieu of 667/1333). Xotic was all over it, and they (Sager) is sending me 2x 4G 800/1600 DDR3. Free upgrade for my troubles. Kick ...

    So here it is:
    3720qm/16G 1600 /7970m/512G crutial m4 primary/Seagate Momentus XT hybrid in Optical bay/95% Matte / killer 1103

The matte screen is fantastic. Very dark blacks.

Oh, and I rebuilt it, now have my old machine as a VM on Workstation (along with 5 or 6 other VMs), and this thing is a wildebeest.

What's your gamertag in Tribes? I am McSchadenfreude. Brand new to it, need a friend :(

Update: For my troubles, Xotic/Sager sent me 2x 4G 1600's. Got a free upgrade to the faster memory.

Also of note, my external DVD burner came and it is an LG with Bluray reader capabilities BUT, plug and play sees it as a lite-on burner. The packaging and the drive all indicate the LG CP40 (cp40ng10) The included software pukes in installation stating it requires an LG drive. My suspicion is that this was flashed to disable features. Anyone know how to fix that?

I'm gkrules on Tribes as well. I'm absolutely atrocious, but it's pretty fun so far.

What are your temps looking like when you play? It looks like I'm averaging around 75 C or so on the GPU. My max so far was 79 C. The PCH reading gets pretty high as well. It maxed out at 80 and is usually around 78 or 79.

Would you guys think this laptop will be too heavy to carry around for college at 6.83 pounds? I am looking at a couple of other laptops that are lighter but the 7970m is very tempting...

lol you're worried about 6.83 pounds? my chemistry book is heavier than that... just get a decent carrying bag for it whether hand carry or backpack and you're good to go.

    idk but thats interesting.

Coming from a 5.5lb Gateway, it doesn't feel all that heavy. I plan on carrying it around in college as well. It shouldn't be too bad.

I need help from people who have Sager NP9150 or Clevo P150EM with a blu-ray device and a AMD 7970m.
Are you able to read blu-ray disc with your 7970m or Intel 4000 HD, because I wasn't able to read disc with the AMD card, always show a blue screen error page instead but when I set the Intel 4000 HD to manage the blu-ray in CCC, it's working well... That's weird, why the AMD card can't support blu-ray....

Sure it's hefty, but most 15" laptops are 5.5lbs so it's not that much heavier. I personally came from a 3.1 lbs Vaio Z (powerhouse in a little package) and i'm fine with it...

@Achusaysblessyou: Hey dude! I see that you have NP9150 and you, more than likely, take it with you to Cal (I am an EECS geek at Cal as well :D). How is the 95% gamut screen? I am trying to decide between NP9170 and NP9150. While the NP9170 isn't much bigger than NP9150, its aluminum chassis and hard-drive capacity appeals to me more than the rubberized finish of NP9150's chassis. Nonetheless, NP9150's 95% gamut screen for only 95 bucks seems tempting. Would you say that carrying approximately 9 lbs NP9170 around campus be a bad choice over NP9150? I might live in the Foothill suites (20-30% chance) for the upcoming Fall semester. Since Soda hall is nearby, I don't think carrying it around would be a big problem. But I might be wrong.

Hey b98154 (is that your zip? I'm in seattle for the summer :p)

I actually have the NP9130, the little brother of the 9150 (couldn't justify the extra price). I did come from a Vaio Z, so I wanted the 95% gamut screen, for me though, it's more of a bragging right than a need, however, my work issued Thinkpad T420 has a much worse screen. Considering that the power brick of the 9130/9150 makes the entire package 9 lbs, I'd go with the 9150 because the screen size is just perfect. If you want, you can always buy an external monitor (I had an external monitor in the dorms, I was in Bowles Hall my freshman year) and it's useful. Not sure if you NEED to bring your laptop around your first year, I didnt, but maybe for projects? However in your upper div courses, you'll need to be more portable. Although, coming from my 3.1 lbs Vaio Z, I'm not sweating it. PM me if you have any questions re: classes, etc. Hope I answered all your questions.

Disclaimer: I just got mines like 2 weeks ago, so not used at school yet, but 15.6" is MUCH nicer than my 13.3" screen for coding (and don't got my desktop + 27" Acheiva with me here)

he has np9130 but its pretty much the exact same other than backlit keyboard

i have the 95% gamut matte screen also and i can tell you it is well worth the 95 dollar upgrade
im incoming freshman so i cant tell you how it is carrying around on campus but i doubt it will be much of a problem

im writing up a little review in main sager/clevo section right now of 9150 so that may be able to help you a bit

Oops, I guess I didn't read your signature carefully. I am actually a Junior at Cal. The Foothill buildings that are on campus are appealing to me because all of them are less than 5 minutes walking distance away from Soda. I am also looking for off-campus apartments.
Anyway, I think I'll get the 9150, but 9170's ability to take in an extra hard drive without the need to remove the optical bay is kinda' appealing. I already bought a Crucial M4 (256GB), so I'll need some space for the extra hard drive. If I buy the 9150, I'll have to remove the optical drive. I know I can buy an external OD and I probably won't use the built-in OD 95% of the time, but it is always a plus to have it built-in.
BTW, 98154 is not my zip. It's just a number that I randomly came up with a long time ago. Now, it's stuck in my brain, and I take advantage of that. :p

That's great, man. I didn't read his sig. carefully. I thought he had the Clevo P150EM. Anyway, are you going to Berkeley as well? Also, a link to your review would be cool. :)

Ahh, going to be a Senior here (physically? temporally? it'll be my 3rd year). True that about the dual hard drives of the 9170, but me personally, I just grabbed a 830 and will be replacing my HDD (I had a 3x64GB RAID array in my Vaio Z and it was more than enough). I actually live on the corner of Hearst and Arch/Leconte, pretty close to campus, sadly my roommate only needs 1 more semester while i need 2... ><. Gotta find a roommate for spring semester or move out...

And ahh, I'm in the zip code 98121 for the summer, so the number looked familiar :p.

I'll add the 9130 to my sig, no one uses the Clevo number anyways. Hanging out in this forum because no one in the 9130 one :(... coudln't justify the price of the 9150 w/ a desktop. I am insanely jealous of the 7970M's which is almost double my 3DMark11 scores with mediocre drivers (I have 3100 3DMark11 points, while the 7970M gets around 5850 3DMark11 points from what I've seen)

Hey guys, do you think me buying the 95% gamut upgrade will decrease my chances at dead pixels on the 150EM? If I can get an upgrade and not have to buy the warranty, that would be great!

Personally, at $60 I think it's a decent deal. If you end up with a dead pixel and didn't buy the warranty then you can always return the laptop and re-order a new one, but then you're out the $30 for return shipment, and hassle for return, getting your money back, and buying a new one. I ended up buying the no dead pixel warranty. $60 is a bit steep still, I think $50 is most reasonable, but whatever, I'd rather not feel like "living" with a dead pixel or two because I'd have to deal with the hassle of return and buy new than just exchange.

In any case, I don't think your chances are any better or less with the 95% screen. They all have a possibility.

Hi guys, I've been reading this forums since the day I found Sager retailers in my country, this is my desired setup, I'll add in a 256GB SSD later, if I wanna save some money, I could buy the thermal paste myself and paste it right? because the retailer charge like for $30 for IC Diamond. Please feel free to comment or criticize.

    Total Price = $ 2,166

Am I getting ripped off or something? because it's actually quite expensive to me lols. But my MacBook Pro (Mid-2009) just broke down. And also I wanna ask is it ok to buy 7970m now since the driver is still flawed.

That does look a bit pricey for those specs. configured as above i reach a total of 1892$ without any rebates (NBR Member or Cash rebate) @xoticpc

About the 7970M, GET IT :D the users with problems in the forum are only a small part of all the 7970 owners. less than 200 people have reported anything and i dont think sager only shipped 200 units ;)

Hi guys, I really need your help here.
So I got my laptop (finally!) but since my CD is kinda scratched, it wont work on the new laptop, but it does on my old laptop (dont ask), i took my windows 7 CD and converted my USB into a bootable windows 7 installer. I also configured the BIOS upon start up to to use my USB as a boot device, so that worked fine.
Upon asking to install windows, i chose x64
but asking me WHERE to install windows, Im kinda confused, I get two places to install it, as shown below
    NAME
    1)Disk 0 Partition 1
    2)Disk 0 Unallocated Space

    TOTAL SIZE
    1)196.6 GB
    2)502.0 GB

    FREE SPACE
    1)196.6GB
    2)502.2GB

    TYPE
    1)System
    2)-

My question is that I know I ordered a 750GM 7200RPM drive, i understand that the total size for the entire disk is around 700, which is okay, but where do I install windows?
It says that i can not install it on Disk 0 Partition 1 because it must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS and the unallocated space for no reason(cant install). (For both it says that I have to ensure the disk controller is enabled in the computer BIOS menu.

So my final question is, what do i do? Were am I supposed to install windows?

Note: I get options to extend partition 1 to 715403 MB as well.

Any answers would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks.

EDIT: I also get the option to format Disk Partition 1, but I didn't take a chance

Is there any data on the drive you want? I would suggest deleting all the partitions that are there, and then just select the drive (dont create any new partitions) and hit install, let windows handle the partitioning.

So i can't install windows on any partition!
The partiion that had unallocated data just changed into disk partition 2, and is now a primary partition, Formatting each drive doesn't do anything, and the reason for not being able to install on each drive is
'Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu'
Any help would be really appreciated!

I just deleted both partitions and windows was able to install from that just fine.

Sort of unrelated but I am very happy. I awoke today to the notification light on my phone. I checked my email and bam! Phase 4 when order placed on the 23rd of June! I'm so excited and I just cant hide it. Also its a p151em with a 7970m and IC diamond. Ram was downgraded to 8gb 1333mhz but oh well still a beast! Also my previous laptop (R.I.P.) was a m11x with 1.3ghz and a 335m. So Major upgrade! With the setup on my 9150 it should be over 6x better than my m11! Delivery is Friday!

That's what I told you to do in the first place ;)

    If you have a 7970 you probably have a P150EM not a P151EM. The P151(NP9130) doesnt support a 7970, while the P150(NP9150) does. P150 also has the backlit keyboard, and P151 doesn't.

From most reports it doesn't do anything, some people with Eurocom laptops say that theirs works... but without any real confirmation from manufacturers I'm not sure what to believe, my 9130 doesn't have that.

Also, I posted this in the 9130 thread, but since I, as well as others have complained about the misplaced fn+f4 being "Sleep", there's a way to deactivate it through windows:

Type into the start menu "lid" it should give you "Change what closing the lid does" and for "When i press the sleep button" choose "Do Nothing". I can't believe I missed it last time, and only after reinstalling my 830 did i notice that. At least no more accidentally sleeping my lappy while trying to mute or lower my volume.

keyboard is fine for me my only complaint is that backspace and right shift are a little small because of the number pad but other than that i love typing on it

fn + 1 turns fans on for me.

anyone know how to turn them off though? I pressed it again and again and it seems one of the fans turns of but one of them stays on max.

You mean like the function keys? you can find them on the driver disks.

If you're asking for useful keyboard shortcuts in say windows, my favorites are:
ctrl+shift+esc = brings up task manager
    alt+tab = switches between windows
ctrl+tab = switches between tabs (in most browsers and some programs)
windows key + m = minimize all windows
windows key + (any number from 0 to 9) = opens the corresponding app that's pinned on your taskbar.
ctrl+shift+del = most browsers opens the internet history management (delete cookies, etc).
    windows key + L = lock windows
windows key + P = allows you to select monitor config (screen only, ext screen only, duplicate, etc)

Hmm... seems like lots of people have it working here, maybe it's a 150em thing and not the 151em (9150 not 9130). Lemme try it while playing a game...

Windows+E opens explorer to the 'My Computer' page
    Windows+F opens search
    Windows+D shows desktop/restores windows
ALT+SPACEBAR - Display the current window’s system menu
    ALT+ENTER - View an item’s properties

They're fine, I mean all LPC does, is handle the order, gives it to Sager, Sager builds it and ships it directly to you, so LPC and companies like them (Xotic, etc) are simply middlemen who offer you better customer service and possibly a better price. If there's any problem with your laptop, call up LPC and they'll deal with Sager for you (apparently Sager doesn't have very good CS for individual sellers). I got mines from LPC and got mines without any problems

As for your delay, you got a 7970M they were backed up for a while, so this might be a continuation of that, don't worry, Sager is working hard to get out the 7970's.
