i noticed all the display ports are output... does that mean i wont be able to use my laptop as monitor for xbox???
-
-
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Lol i think that's true for all laptops, I don't think any laptop has any inputs (doesn't make sense). Where did you get that idea? -
Yours may just be taking longer due to a screen switch. I don't know how all of that works though..
But, good luck! The waiting is the hardest part!
-
Hey all! Received my NP9150 a few days ago and have been loving it but I do have a question for you all. I put in the driver disk and first thing did the chipset driver, and then went on to the amd vga drivers I believe it was. I did express install and they were installing and then everything shut down and I got a BSOD. So as of now I am not using drivers because Im trying not to harm the laptop. Should I wait for the 12.7 driver or did I install the stock ones wrong? Please help!
-
No offense but this makes no sense to me. You spend like 1600$ on a gaming laptop so you can plug in Xbox?........ Forgive me but that just plain doesn't make sense I'm sorry....
-
Someone here a couple pages back posted about getting his NP9150 (or however they rebrand it) from Eurocom with a 7970, but when I visited their website, they didn't even offer ivy bridge processors for this model. The best I could go with the GPU was something from the 6000 series. So what's the deal with that?
I'm probably gonna go with reflexnotebooks anyway, just wanted to check out some other possibilities. -
I along with other would highly recommend xoticpc.com. They had excellent build times and pricing.
-
This is correct. You can not use it as a monitor for an Xbox.
A few Alienware laptops have an HDMI-in, so that you can hook up a console or something similar to it and use it as a monitor.
The NP9150/P150EM is the Racer 2.0. You were probably looking at the original Racer (NP8150/P150HM). -
good chance halo 4 doesnt come out for pc
plus i still game on xbox ocassionally because almost all of my friends only use xbox
its not a huge deal i was just wondering
i still plan on doing the large majority of my gaming on pc
your concerns are valid i dont blame you -
I take my P150em to work every day in my Swiss gear Synergy back back including... power brick... 4no. 2.5" hard disks... mouse... memory sticks... a book... phone charger... enginering tools (5kg) and notebook (1kg)... about 10 A0 plans... the days food and drink.
You will be OK! -
Hey guys, my computer has been in phase 2 for about a week and I just got a message from xoticpc that simply stated: "SO#999999 TH" (They weren't really all nines, but I'd rather not accidentally give away personal information for my order haha)
That's all the message had, is that a Shipping Order #? Anybody know what it is?
Also does that mean that Sager is sending it to me on Thursday? Considering the "TH" Any info on any of this would be great! -
I still need to install PowerDVD and test the blu ray... but I'm under the impression that the HD4000 is up to the task and saves energy so am not sure you want to use the 7970.
Bank card PIN number? lol -
I'm not sure is this problem already solved, but here is how I fix it.
Open the hot keys program window (I don't remember what is it called, but icon is little laptop) at the quick launch bar. When window is open, on-screen notifications for the hot keys are off. I leave this window open before I start to play and works fine. (sorry my poor english) -
That would be the Sager Order #. XoticPc has sent the laptop to Sager to get built and I believe you can monitor it through Sager's website or something. Correct me if I'm wrong. Almost 100% sure it's not the Shipping #...sadly.
-
What do you guys think about $300 for 3 years extended warranty? Is it worth it?
-
You would need a TV/Video IO USB device for doing that... Hauppauge make ones with video inputs but are not that cheap. I've never seen a laptop with that built in.
-
how much they go for?
-
Hauppauge Computer Works
only thing is that one is phono + sound in so your not gonna get HD... there are other solutions around for HD but am a bit stuck for time to look at the mo. -
Well, Mr. Ferrigno, not all of us are able to turn green and inflate when we head out the front door each day!
eyung25,
To offer another opinion from a guy with an internet build at 5'10'' and 140lb, and who likes to carry as little as possible, with the right bag, this 15'' should not be too bulky or heavy to carry comfortably in a bookbag with a textbook and some notebooks, but multiple textbooks could easily be a problem for comfort and capacity with the addition of a laptop this thick and heavy. It sounds like GTMonster's Swiss bag is up to the task and I'm sure Belkin offers some bags that would accommodate the size and weight. Also, I believe you are looking at around 9lb. while considering the laptop + power brick. I should note that I have not actually seen or held a Clevo, but I measured and compared my Dell XPS 15 to the specs of the p150em before ordering. -
Personal preference. Only thing they don't cover is accidental. I think from squaretrade you can get a 3 year warranty with accidental for $350 for up to $2000 laptop.
-
Hey guys, I figure this might be the best place to ask...considering I'm looking to hear from 9150 users specifically.
Anyroad, does anyone here play RIFT? Just curious because I'm seeing TERRIBLE fps on the game...and it's the ONLY game I'm seeing problems. My average framerate is around 40, preset ultra settings, no-AA. It starts dipping below 20 in the major capitals and during rift events...and this just seems absurd! My old laptop (alienware m15x, circa 2010 model) was mustering these framerates at the high-med settings...I figured this sager would have no problem maxing it out, sans fancy things like FSAA.
I've scoured the rift forums for something tangible...but I'm sure most of you know of the trolls/flamers act on MMO forums...not exactly helpful info.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also, it might help to know that my GPU usage seems exceedingly low at times, 30-35%. Could it maybe be an nvidia driver issue? Specs are in my sig. -

Sounds pretty pricey...the Sager NP9150 3 Year Warranty is only $149. -
Thanks, I was looking at something else after all. Damn, Eurocom is overpriced as hell, guess Reflexnotebook is the only good choice for someone in Ontario.
-
just have a few Q's for you np9150 owners, since I'm a few hours from buying one on xoticpc.
how would you say the size of the laptop is in your opinion? ive seen the specs online but can't see the laptop in person for obvious reasons.
how hot and how loud do the fans run w/ a setup w/ a 7090m?
im pretty sure the i7 and 7970m have a integrated graphics chip somewhere in there, is that right? if so, whats the battery life like with the GPU off?
last question, I should be able to replace my optical drive with a SSD later on correct?
THANKS!! sorry for the annoying newb stuff but these were the last bits of info i wanted to know -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
You can always add a hard drive in place of your optical drive, but you should put your SSD in your hard drive bay to get SATA III performance, and then move your mechanical drive to the optical drive bay.
-
It's about the size of an average 15" laptop, but pretty fat.
The fans are somewhat loud, but temps don't really ramp up unless you're running furmark or kombustor. I've played skyrim for 2 hours and it didn't break 75 C.
battery life is still pitiful with HD 4000. Most I could squeeze out is around 3 hours.
I believe the optical drive only runs SATA II, so you would have to move the HDD into the optical bay and then place the SSD into the main bay. -
thanks both of you. i guess this last Q is subjective, but would you guys say the laptop isn't too big to bring to class and notetake with? im not really worried about weight, just bulkiness. i know it's only a 15.6 inch screen but i'd hate for it to be toooo big
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Most students use 15.6" laptops, so it shouldn't be too big for you.

Prometheus has landed...
-
Congrats!
I heard BIOS 05 with EC03 is a silent combination with the 680M ( fans not spinning back down after 3D use with EC04/05
)
-
Hi Prema... will you pretty please be doing a Bios mod for the P150em? I'd love to be able to get my hands on with some decent overclocking. =]
-
So I just got an email today that my laptop was in the Final Testing Phase Before Shipping. Any idea how long this phase usually takes? I'm guessing two or three days?
-
X2 I will be buying one and hopefully with the 3920XM so I would love some nitty gritty in the BIOS myself
-
Where can one find said BIOS05 with EC03.
So far though, 3DMark11 is about expected P6100. Temps were only 75C for both CPU and GPU. MSI Kombustor 1080p with PostFX and Torus was about 88-89C. This is with stock paste, haven't touched it yet.
Installing BF3 at the moment. That will be a great stress test, and fun to boot!
Debating whether to bench everything with stock paste or use IC Diamond off the bat. I'm tempted to use stock paste as a "worse case" scenario. -
I just found this site about a week ago, and after reading through much of this thread, I finally decided to order myself a 9150 earlier today through Xotic PC. I just hope I can survive the wait.
I wanted to thank everyone for all the information that they provided here. It made the choice of what laptop to get an easy one for me. -
how do i overclock on 7970m msi afterburner says clocks are both maxed
-
Thank goodness someone here finally has their hands on a 680m. Maybe now some forum members will stop droning endlessly about what it should do and we can see what it actually will do.
We know for sure you're about 4% faster from the factory on 3DMark11 than me.
-
So far so good. BF3 on high was running 80-100FPS at least every time I glanced at the FPS counter. Temps were no higher than 79C without Fn+1 and with stock paste. Screen is a lot nicer than I ever expected. I got the regular matte (not 95% gamut) and it's spectacular. Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow and am visiting my parents this weekend since it's my mom's birthday, so may not get much chance to tinker too much unless I can hide in a place in my mom's house and benchmark, etc.
-
considering returning laptop and rebuying with 680m
what u guys think of this......
i have 30 days or so to decide right? -
wow. Did you have MSAA and HBAO on when on high? and were you on stock clocks or overclocked?
-
Hi HTWingNut,
I'd be curious to see how effective the good paste is. If you measure the external room temperature then run stress tests with the laptop on a flat surface with stock paste measuring both CPU and GPU temps.
Then measure exteranal room temperature again to see if there is a diffentnce from the external temp in the room on the first test and run the same stress tests with decent paste with the laptop in the same possition.
Would be good to see how substantiated the use of an expensive paste paste really is. Just a thought... -
had a change of heart
was heavily considering returning laptop w/7970m and re-ordering with 680m but i changed my mind for a few reasons in descending importance
1.no comp -this is the only computer i have right now with over 768mb of ram so if i return it i will be handicapped for like another month with no decent comp.
this time is precious to me cuz i want to get a lot of programming practice in before i head off to college and 7970m wont be hurting me in that department
2. cost-
$300 + shipping for return enough said
3. updated drivers- i have hope that amd will fix enduro soon altogether or at least increase performance with new drivers a good deal and build from there
4. games im playing - im really not playing any hardcore pc games right now and probably wont be until late august/september so my need for full utilization of my 7970m is minimal at the moment
5. nvidia are fascist pigs
jk -
Well I live in Malaysia and the reseller will pay for all the shipping/fees incurred, including shipping it and return shipping for 3 years, and also when I buy it it's free shipping from US to Malaysia, then I'd say it's actually not so expensive and worth much than I buy directly from US right?
-
Stock clocks. I turn the Ambient Occlusion stuff OFF because to me it doesn't do anything except kill framerates. When I do some benchmarking though I will turn it on, run default High and Ultra.
-
Based on when you got your machine, you are already on that BIOS. I emailed Larry and he said Sager is working on another one for 150 and 170, so hopefully they will have something next week, 06?
- Can always go into BIOS and check. -
Hopefully this is the right place to ask a question like this...
I've just received my new Clevo P150EM - specs in my sig.
I've not used the Intel 4000/w AMD before...AMD7970M.
Anyway questions are:
1. Do I have to manually specify which apps should and shouldn't use the "performance" graphics in the switchable graphics section? I had to do it with Diablo 3 so it would use the 7970M (not the Intel 4000)
2. In the switchable graphics section is there a way to see all the apps and their associations? List of what is on Power Saver and what is not?
3. Is there a way to see which video card is "running" at any given time?
On my Dell there is a little Nvidia icon that displays either one little green bar or two little green bars.
On my other Acer when the laptop is on mains power it automagically uses the AMD CPU.
4. When I went to use the AMD Mobility Driver download checker it says
AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded to to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. The version of your graphics adapter is not supported. Please contact your notebook manufacturer for a graphics driver update.
I thought in this day and age that AMD would be smart enough to know it's coupled with an Intel 4000 and still be able to detect the 7970m sitting there even if it's not "running"...
How can I manually run my 7970M when on mains power...if I wanted to...?
How can I do driver upgrades? -
Hi Guys,
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here for your information provided in this thread. I read quite a few pages researching for my new gaming and photography laptop and I am now very impressed with the product.
Also i'm a big fan of IPS screens having a Dell U2410 24" monitor and my GF a Mac Book Pro, but I never expected a TN screen like this to be this good!! Vertical movement shows a little washing out and darkening on the extreme viewing angles still nothing compared to other TN panels. The horizontal viewing angle however is fantastic!

So the new verde 304.79 beta driver came out from nvidia 3 days ago...was wondering if anyone had a chance to try this specifically with the 675m? It looks like it fixed issues from the previous one, but im still being cautious because of what people said earlier on about installing the verde 304.48.
A response would be amazing
-
wow weird
turned off msi afterburner fps monitoring thing
and games where i was getting shtty fps went to smooth
yay
-
So, a bit of wishful thinking on my part, but I was wondering:
For those of you that ordered from XoticPC, is the time they give you for stage two (IE:6-12 days) business days, or normal days?
