Yeah, the sound is pretty much awful. Ordered an Asus Xonar U3 external sound card yesterday, let's see how it sounds when it arrives.

I got an Audio Engine D1 and ATH-S50 headphones. INCREDIBLE sound. Note that if you get external DAC and/or use the optical out to a DAC, you bypass this card's DAC all together. It is functional for non-critical stuff, and NO laptop can compare to an external DAC as the e-field interference always compromises quality anyway.

I run my 1440p DP all the way and it works fantastically. Note also the DP and HDMI are also digital out for audio and use the DAC of whatever device you connect them to, bypassing the internal sound card as well.

Question about Hyper-V support (need SLAT, EPT) on 9150 -
I got the win 8 upgrade and want to run Hyper-V (included) but it requires SLAT (Second Level Address Translation) which is Called EPT on an INTEL chip. I have a 3720qm and that CHIP supports it, but the test for support shows that this laptop does not. This must be disabled in the BIOS. That being said, what are my options? Will Sager ever support this? Do I need to get a Clevo BIOS to do this? Please advise.

Note that VT-d for VMWare is supported by the chip and BIOS, so it is not a complete loss, but I was interested in trying hyper-V in lieu of Workstation.

    Thanks

Hi guys I have just installed win8 so far so good much faster than win7 and the new ui is not hard at all to get used to... I have only one issue so far whenever I try to join any server on BF3 using IE10 I get 'Could not contact Battlelog, please try again' error message. I have tried everything I could think of: first I launched with chrome and I had no issue so I guessed it was related to IE10 then, I reinstalled IE10, reinstalled flash update via windows update since it is embed now, formatted my pc and reinstall everything all over, updated all my software, plugins and drivers, ran windows update and still no luck. Of course EA chat was useless to the point he said it is working on chrome so it is working, but I don't use chrome and I don't want to. Anyone had that? Cheers

Considering the fact that Windows 8 might be the future I sense a good BIOS update if I'm not completely wrong, so they should come up with a fix.
Otherwise running W8 virtually would do inside of W7... not optimal ofc

Not W8 fault... EA is just retarded, PunkBuster ruined it all, their servers are not functional. I cannot connect myself, even though I haven't changed anything the last month... got a few friends with problems too

    Hey guys,

Recently upgraded to windows 8 on my Sager NP9150. But there is a problem. I can no longer access the Catalyst Control Center which means all my graphics are running off of Intel and not my AMD Radeon 7970. I dont know what drivers to use which means no Dota for now! Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello everyone...

I was wondering about the loud noise of the fans in clevo P150em...
does anyone use SpeedFan to control fan speeds and temperatures?

or the stock clevo cpu/gpu controls it perfectly?

Perfectly. When idling my P150 varies between dead silent and lowest cpu fan speed (which is really quiet, as opposed to what some people say). Gaming is a whole different story though, as both fans, but mainly the gpu, can get pretty loud. However this is to be expected in a high performance laptop. I'd recommend gaming with headphones.

Boa sorte com a compra :D

Well, I noticed some strange things.
My USB 3.0s act funny, they cut out. I thought it was my mouse battery but it started when I updated windows 7 to windows 8.
Also, I was playing skyrim for a couple hours and it started to get choppy the frame rate dropped. I just restarted skyrim and it was fine but after a while it happens again. I have HWinfo maybe my temps are getting to hot for some reason. my rooms around 69 degrees usually.

And sometimes my keys don't register on the keyboard.
    What do you guys think?

I'm having something odd going on with my laptop. I already looked at the power setting (it didn't start this until maybe yesterday or a day or two before that) but when I close my lid to he laptop the whole computer shuts down and when I turn it back on tells me I didn't shut down properly and asks if I want to boot in safe mode and all that.

Edit: I think it's when I have the cpuid running I just installed it yesterday and I tried closing lid w/o it running and it was fine. Anyone know if this does that?
Edit 2: it's not the cpuid and I can't seem to get it to be able to do it again

Check your Power Options for "When I close the lid" one of the options is shut down the computer. Make sure its not on that option.

So for anybody who may be interested, instead of selling my Sager because I bought the Crossover 1440p monitor from Korea, I decided to give it one last try and buy an adapter that had been suggested here.

The adapter is this Dell BizLink DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual Link Adapter , ACTIVE , Powered by USB Port , Brand NEW , Dell P/N : XT625

It set me back about £40 which was reasonable if I could get it to work. So anyway, I got it today and plugged it in with little to no hope of it working. The result is...IT WORKS!

So I now have a resolution of 2560 x 1440 working with my Sager NP9150! It looks absolutely amazing. I tried a game on it (BF3) and the difference is astounding. I truly will never go back to 1080p now because it just pales in comparison. A guy on here suggested the Sager NP9150 was not built for this resolution and it wouldn't work. Well I'd almost given up trying (Having bought 2 other adapters previously that did not work)

So now if anybody has any interest in getting their Sager on a monitor with 1440p I recommend you look into the Yamakasi Catleaps, Crossovers and Shimians on eBay. They are all similar. I went for the Crossover because of the sturdy build. It was just under £300 which is unreal considering the prices 1440p monitors in the UK.

Yes there is always a risk ordering from Korea but I ordered off eBay user Greensum I think he was called and I have no dead pixels. Absolutely perfect condition. The display is just unreal. I couldn't be happier.

SO just to confirm. The Sager NP9150 with GTX 680m is compatible with the DVI-D only 1440p monitors, you just need to buy the right adapter. Mine is a Display Port to DVI-D adapter. Trust me, paying £40 is a small price to pay once you've had the pleasure of playing games in this resolution. So just thought I'd let you's know because I was scouring the internet for information about this and its very difficult as not many people have attempted to use them in this resolution (Or at least they aren't reporting it).

I hope this is of use to somebody because if I had this information I could have saved myself a lot of time and money. Obviously as you can tell I am not the most computer savvy. I just wanted to game at a high resolution on my Sager NP9150. This is how. I'd definitely recommend it. Anyways, enough chat. I'm off for a marathon session on BF3

Either an external USB soundcard or using the SPDIF port (the red light in the headphone socket) via a TOS link (fibre optic) to a will make for good sound. I've used both.

There is a new driver in the Windows 8 folder in the NP9150 drives page on the Sager web site.... this driver works, but the only problem with using this driver for me at least is that when the catalyst control centre asks if you would like to specify which graphics hardward to use for a program... I get no options in the dropdown to select the graphic card to use! I wish that ATi and Clevo would get there finger out!

Could someone explain to me what all the fuss about Windows 8 is? From what I've heard, MS thinks my P150EM is a giant smartphone. I don't know whether to feel offended or insulted.

Our experience is that Windows 8 is faster than anything before it, can do a lot more than anything before it, takes about 10 minutes to learn the new GUI, and plays virtually any game out there as well or better than Windows 7.

    What's not to like?

I'll believe it when I see data and facts to back up those claims. I don't think it hinders performance but I really don't see any advantages with Win 8 over Win 7.

Some drivers do not work with Windows 8, I'm still waiting for a full transaction move onto W8 before even considering using it.

Cannot comprehend installing Windows 8 for the sake of installing something new..

    Hello everyone,

    I'm a new owner of a Clevo P150EM with an i7-3840QM and a GTX680M.

I was looking through about fan control shortly after updating the latest BIOS from the Clevo site provided somewhere here (the foreign one) and heard that if I were to flash to a Sagers BIOS, I could get fan control.

My laptop easily peaks at 97C if I were to run solely on the CPU and 83-93C if running the dGPU and CPU. Should I take the risk of flashing to a Sagers BIOS (If possible since I updated to the most recent Clevo BIOS) or should I get new thermal paste for the CPU first? If thermal paste, which kind should I get to drop it to a consistent 85C or below?

EDIT: The temperatures posted are when under any load. Idles at 58-63C. Prime95 maxes at 98C (never goes higher) and Intel XTU is 98C at 100%. I do have to say though. The laptop DOES NOT feel hot at all when feeling all the vents for exhaust. At most its a bit warm.

    Welcome to NBR!

It doesn't have to feel hot. But as far as I understand it is VERY HOT.

Repaste will fix it ASAP- any good thermal paste will do :)

    Thanks for the welcome!

So the BIOS doesn't really matter? If so,that's great. I'll check the nearest PC hardware store later on for the thermal paste. Thanks.

    BIOS: 1.02.14
    EC: 1.02.11

What I was shown as its current build anyway. I want to know if its possible to flash to Sager from that build.

As for the overheat issue, I opened the case and tightened the heatsink. Maxes at 85C on casual use rendering on max in GW2, BF3, and etc. When doing video rendering/encoding, I easily hit 98C (same goes for prime95 and Intel XTU). Guess I'm going for that thermal paste.

Hello! I am new here and thought I would post and say that I put in my order with Xoticpc on Wednesday 31 October, 2012 for my first Sager NP9150 / Clevo P150EM! It is sitting in phase 2 and I am very excited to get the notebook and start building it out!

Here is how my NP9150 is setup:

    - Display: 15.6" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Sager Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)
    - Processor: Sager - 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3630QM (2.4GHz - 3.4GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP)
    - nVidia GeForce GTX 675M 2,048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology
    - Ram: 12GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory
    - Primary Hard Drive: 256gb Crucial M4 Series Solid State Drive

I tried windows 8 on the computers at the local Bestbuy and found that that was not the way that i would really use a computer. Also I noticed that unlike previous release of operating systems they made sure that they removed previous version windows 7 from the shelf, windows 8 is all they sell now.

Computers are tools ,not just social interfaces Word, Excel and Powerpoint were around a long time before Facebook.

Just recived my new Sager,NP 9150 from Exotic pc but I orderd it with windows 7 not 8 . Eventhough it would have only added 15 usd to the cost I decided to wait next year for ......................." windows 9"

So I fixed my earlier heating issue. When I took the heatsink off, there was a piece of tape on top of the CPU that covered the metal contact... I took the time to remove the old paste and applied a new one right away (Removed tape of course). Temperatures are now 38C-42C.

Guess I no longer need that fan control.

My next issue is the GTX 680M performance. I tried running Guild Wars 2 on the Auto-Detected Settings and saw notable frame drops every once in a while. I have yet to try BF3, but is this an issue with the GPU? I have heard of Nvidia issues with GW2 in the past and if only a specific driver or setting for the system would help run it at least 45FPS or higher instead of 28-32FPS.

Congrats on the new system! I'm of the same opinion with the interface choices but once you customize (shouldn't have to do so, I agree, but it is what it is) it's not too bad of an ordeal to learn. That being said, I'll probably be sticking with Win 7 until the next iteration myself as it does what I need it to do.

Let us know how it turns out!

Hey there guys, I got myself a Clevo150em a couple months ago and Im new to the forums here and its nice to meet you all. Unfortunately ive been recently noticing some issues (not sure if they have always been present) basically Ive been noticing a decreased performance in games such as Mount and blade Warbands, and some other titles like deadlight, or trine 2. Mount and blade for example indicates that is has an estimated performance of 40% and has a frame rate to match. I feel a bit thrown off by this as i have experienced no performance issues that im aware off with skyrim. I currently live in new zealand and had to grab this laptop while spending some time in Australia so im really hoping i can find a solution without sending it back. any help you guys could throw at me would be majorly appreciated so i can enjoy this awesome machine.
im not sure why its not showing my GTX670M but specs are as follows:

    Hi Smiddi, welcome to NBR!
Have you tried updating your drivers to the most current ones directly from Nvidia.
Also if the computer was mine i'd change the size of the page file. You basically have 16GB of hard drive space allocated to that which you really dont need because you have 16GB of RAM. Windows automatically makes the page file the same as the amount of RAM you have but you dont need that much because you have that much RAM. I'd change it to 1GB or so to reclaim that space. Change the size of virtual memory

Does anyone know where the HM77 chipset is located on the P150EM? Also how to get to it.

    Thanks

Managed to install the Sager BIOS. Sadly no splashscreen replacement (So I'm stuck with Style Note) but at least I have fan control and other sager features.

Now on switching the Fn and Windows keys around...
