Same here! Keep me posted on what you find out because I've just put in an order with Ken at Gentech PC. Bring on the 675MX :) What video card option did you go with?

670MX seems to be ok, but then an nVIDIA GTX 675M 256bit w/2GB GDDR5 would be WAY better than the 670MX and it is $100 cheaper.

Damn, strange that MSIs now already have the 675MX cards in-stock but the Sagers. I wonder how much the 675M performs over the 675MX.

You said how much the 675M performs 'over' the 675MX. Did you mean over the 670MX?

If so, it will be considerable given one is a 192bit card while the 675M is a 256bit card. The difference in GDDR5 is virtually irrelevant unless you are doing 3D, or going to an external monitor with resolution higher than Full HD (1920x1080).

Thanks for your answer. I don't really have a preference between nVidia or AMD. Looking at the AMD, it's only $50-$100 more for the 7970M. Is the 7970M available right now or is there a wait too?

I've got a 7970m and I wish I hadn't. The drivers are getting better but reckon there are still some improvements to be made. Undoubtedly the drivers well get better but who knows how long that will take.

    That's my two cents anyway

    Hi radmarsh,

I thought they had fixed the Enduro software?

I don't know much about it. Is there a way to manually set games to run at full speed like nVidia's Optimus?

Personally I think they have semi fixed it, some games have a big improvement others not so much. Dx9 games are still poor although amd reckon their next release will fix it...who knows when though?

I still get the odd bsod here and there and having real problems with warfighter.

That seems to be the consensus. It has improved, but it is still underutilized and has other issues as you describe.

AMD is working on Fixing it. So it will only be a little bit of time. The 7970m has the capability to be just as good as the 680m, and even with the driver issue its still going to outperform the 675mx. So I think its a steal right now to get the 7970m.

It seems the upgrade to 7970 went from $200 in the summer to $250 a while ago and now just recently i see it costs $300 ...

Hmmm, 7970m may not be what I want now. It seems that even the latest betas aren't that great, and can be real patchy in some games. Looks like I should wait for the 675MX.

While I know the 675MX is 10% after than the 675M, what other cons are there with the 'older' 675M card? It seems like it's really good value for money.

Hey Smiddi, I would do the following: -

    - Firstly check your GPU temps under stress, maybe your temps are through the roof causing it to throttle. If your temps are unusually high (high 90's? correct me if i'm wrong) might want to give the fans a good clean then repaste.
    - Check your BIOS to see whether or not your card shows up in the main screen.
    - Roll back the drivers for the Intel HD 4000, test out games where you see the decreases.
    - Also roll back/remove the nvidia drivers and install the ones that came on disc.
    - Install updated HD 4000 drivers from the microsoft website or windows update, test the games again and if its ok proceed to update to the later nvidia drivers (or if your happy as is leave the nvidia stuff).
    - Check your power options in Control Panel, check nvidia control panel settings - 3D settings / Preferred graphics processor - Auto-Select or try High performance NVIDIA processor.

If those do not work, I'd also be inclined to check if the card is seated correctly/give it a clean. Give that a shot and good luck!

There really aren't any cons besides it being a little slower and not as good battery life then the MX version. The MX uses the new Kepler architecture while the M version is the older Fermi. Even then its still a very good GPU.

The 7970M should outperform the 675M even when it's suffering a bit at 1080p.....

How would the battery life and heat compare for web browsing, Word documents etc (multi i.e. windows open but no games running)?

It'd be virtually the same as the Optimus would be activated during those tasks, so you'd be using the iGPU instead of the dedicated. Heat should be a little better on the Kepler cards than on the Fermi for when the dedicated is being used.

Decisions decisions. I think I am definitely saying a bit NO to the 7970. Not prepared to spend that amount of money to get BSODs and poor gaming performance.

Now I am down to either the 675M or the 680M. 675M is at a really good price point whereas the 680M is at a premium price at the moment.

I would prefer to have the 675MX but not prepared to wait for it :p

The 675m definitely offers a good amount of performance like Hutsady said. It's a rebadged GTX 580m from the last generation which was the top end card then. The 675MX will be about 10-15% more powerful from the impressions we've received so far. The 680M will definitely reign at the top right alongside the 7970m but as you said you have to weigh all those decisions to see which is going to work best for you.

    Hi Derek@XoticPC,

Yep, that's right. The only way I can afford the 680M is to take out my 250GB mSATA SSD out, which just leaves me with a 750GB hard drive.

Is it simple to install a mSATA SSD into the Sager 9150 in the future? Sorry I have never owned a Sager so I wouldn't know... shouldn't be too hard considering you can open up the backing completely?

Yeah it's not tough at all. Pull open the back panel and pretty much drop it in.

Is there anyone willing to measure the height of the NP9150, from the front, middle, and back if looking at it from the side. If you could include pictures with the ruler/tape measure would be awesome!

The reason I ask is because Sager/Clevo and XoticPC,etc... have it listed as 1.38"-1.69" (height). But its seems much larger than that in the pictures I have seen and most online reviews list it as being around 2.20" high

Actually it's pretty thin. And a 15" MacBook is heavier to me, those unibody cases are too heavy.

It is slightly more then what we have listed once you include the rubber feet. I just measured one from the side. The back is almost 2", about 1.75" middle and 1.5" on the very front.

^^ spot on with the rubber footing, I was actually in the middle of measure too - mine came around to 45mm for the back 40-43mm mid and 30mm for the front excluding the feet on mine. Even if it is slightly off my inspiron 1520 is bigger than this thing all round and heavier too

Right, in the end I've gone with the beast 680M, and to compensate for that upgrade, I am now without a mSATA drive, which isn't a biggie as I can always get one in the future.

Hey everybody, I am new to the forums. I just bit the bullet and bought a p150em from pro-star. I just received the laptop today. I requested no OS preloaded because I already had an unused copy of Microsoft 8 pro. I installed the OS when the laptop first loaded. However, now I am trying to load the drivers disc and I receive an error message: OS is not supported. Can someone please help and tell me what to do! Thanks in advance.

I guess the drivers on the CD are for Windows 7. You'll have to download the drivers for Windows 8 from Sager website. Click on NP9150 and scroll all the way down to the bottom to see the Windows 8 drivers link.

Thanks for the quick replies everybody. I have one more error when trying to clean install windows 8 on my new p150em (purchased with no OS). I have downloaded Windows 8. It seems to be working properly. However, it keeps telling me that I have not yet activated windows 8. It requests me to put in the key code again and says that I am unable to fully upgrade to Windows 8. Any thoughts? Thanks

Got my P150em in today! Turned it on into the bios, going to install W7 tomorrow.

The keyboard is different than pictured, it has the new Windows logo for W8 so it's the updated version. The windows keys and Fn keys are swapped

I am surprised they've already upgraded the keyboard to include the new Windows 8. Where did you order yours?

I see you've gone with the 7970m. I've gone with the 680M after reading the horror driver stories online for the 7970m.

Xoticpc, I'll get a picture tomorrow.

The 7970m has its issues sure but it's price made the gamble worth it. AMD is working on it so good enough for me. For 50$ difference for the 675mx it made no sense to get that unless you need/want nvidia. The 7970 with the performance issues still out performs the 675mx

Plus in the game I play isn't affected as much, crisis.

    kingyr your an absolute legend!
i went through the list that you provided me with and had no luck with anything until i tried switching from auto-select to high performance nvidia processor. for some reason that cleared things up completely. Im not completely sure why that fixed it, but i am extremely grateful for the help. Its a big relief knowing there isnt any psysical issues with the laptop and i can get back to enjoying this beast in its full glory.

Hey guys I'm having a a bit of trouble in games where the laptop keeps crashing and it either takes me back to the desktop with no error messages or the computer freezes up completely and I'm forced to restart, I believe it's an issue with the power cord as there's a small chunk missing out of it and I have no other issues with temps or whatever, does anyone know where I can buy a power cord for this laptop without having to buy a whole new PSU? Thanks for any help in advance
