Yeah that Windows key on the right is a bit puzzling. I believe they did it to prevent accidentally hitting it while gaming. But if that's the case then why don't they use a better keyboard without ghosting? I'd rather have a better keyboard without ghosting than one with a windows key on the right.
-
How does anti-ghosting keyboard prevent you from hitting the Windows key?
Just curious, do you have a lot of issues with ghosting? I've always thought it was mostly a marketing crud, I don't have issues with it. I don't mash multiple keys at the same time fast enough I suppose. -

Where can I get the keyboard software? Cant find them on sagers website
Also how can I see the Temp for the 7970m? I installed the Drivers but its temp is not showing up in HWmonitor or MSI Afterburner. -
Ghosting is, indeed, real. If you have some time and want some good reading material, take a look here.

So I recently joined the Clevo crowd and bought myself the P150EM. Love it so far! I was wondering if anyone here knows if a regular SSD would fit in place of the 750GB HDD I have in there already?

Hey Suzovat,
You should have no trouble replacing that HDD with an SSD. No special hardware required. -
Yes it should as far as I am aware. Not interested in adding an mSTATA?
Edit: Derek, you beat me to it! -

Haha, I do what I can. -
Hey Derek,
When I get my laptop in a couple of weeks, what are some of the initial things you would recommend that I do to get the laptop running as smooth as possible?
I tried to search for this info here but couldn't find a decisive list. -
Awesome, thanks for the help guys!
Yeah, I've heard about those. Is there any main difference between an mSATA and a regular SSD other then just the size? -
Hey guys, I just received my p150em and had a couple quick questions. How do I know which gpu is being used? (the intel hd 4000 vs the gtx 675). And also what is a good program to monitor my cpu/gpu temperatures?

Whenever I get a new system or install a new OS, I will first download Anti-Virus and Malware scanner. I personally use MSE and Spybot but you'll find that everyone has their preferred programs. Other than, just test it out! If you notice something isn't running as fast as you want it to, do some quick google research and see if somebody has experienced what you are and see if they had a fix. The folks on here are pretty helpful with some of the weirder cases but there isn't a whole lot of new issues cropping up anymore. Also, if you're getting an SSD you'll want to download SSD Tweaker and get it optimized. -

Pretty big difference actually. The mSata is a 3gb/s connection where the SataIII is a 6gb/s. You'll want to get a regular SSD if at all possible over the mSata, some configurations just don't allow it though, so that's why the Msata was included as an option on the current generation of laptops. -
Alright, good to know. I just finished up buying a Samsung SSD off newegg and an optical bay HDD caddy off eBay to replace my disk drive and to hold my old HDD. Thanks again for your help!

Sounds like you got the plan down! Be sure to post back with your reults. Glad to help any time. -

Hey Derek, where can I find the keyboard LED light software? I do not have the CD with me.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
You can actually find that on the Sager site under the Hot Key Utility download.

doh, not sure how I missed that heh, Thanks -

It happens, all those drivers and file names tend to run together in the list unless you know what to look for. No trouble at all. -
FYI, the HDD is 9.5mm thick and Samsung SSD is 7mm thick. But yeah it can stay in the bay with the plastic holder. You may wanna put a "spacer" under the SSD to make sure it moves as little as possible (just for the peace of mind

While my laptop is unplugged and only on battery it wont turn on, I keep pushing the button but it wont turn on. Once I plugged it in it turns on. Is something wrong?
Edit: doh just need to hold it on battery and push for when on AC? -
I patched my NP9150 with the latest EC and bios and the keyboard no longer defaults to a blue glow on boot. Should I be concerned?
Edit: weird. Turned off laptop, pulled battery, inserted battery, booted laptop and it's back to normal. Does that usually happen after an EC and bios upgrade?

I wasn't disputing it's existence. I was just curious how often he found it to be an issue. I can't recall when I found ghosting to be issue for me.
-
Yeah absolutely right, press and hold for to turn on while on battery, not sure why they made it like that
-
Well, I got my NP9150 yesterday and it has been everything that I wanted so far. The only problem was that optimus didn't switch GPUs for one game (Sniper Elite) so I was wondering why everything was so slow, I went into nVidia control panel and switched to my 675M and everything was smooth
-
Hi guys.
I've recently purchased the p150em and I've noticed a rather horrible ghosting problem.
I'm a rather agile typist so this is quite an issue for me.
I've looked around and found that the steelseries keyboard might be a good replacement however I visited the GT70 forums and they say that steelseries keyboard has ghosting issues as well.
Are those the two only keyboards available? I know that the fact that I can change keyboard is already a blessing but the ghosting is quite an issue since I love typing on a laptop and I would like to avoid external keyboards as much as possible. (Coming from a long line of lenovo T series laptops
)
-
Just takes getting used to. I had a thread where a lot of people proved these keyboards are fine for typing. People typing 100+ WPM and not having issues.
-
Ah, sorry. My mistake. Must've misread your post. It all really depends upon the type of game you play. Playing FPS's I notice it more often just due to how I'm used to moving/strafing/item selection.
s
That may be true, however, typing speed isn't relevant with ghosting since you're only pushing one key at a time. Whereas on an FPS you'd be using several keys at least. i.e. Forward/Back + Strafe + Jumping + Item Selection + Voice +
almost anything else. -
Welcome to NBR!
Yes sadly it is..

So I am about to reformat, something with my 7970m. I am getting hard locks into windows now, and if I try to play any game it just freezes up. I was able to play one game fine but then it wouldn't play again.
I am thinking my GPU might be defective hmm -
If not ghosting then what is it? I miss a letter every 3-5 words. Any idea how to solve the problem could be helpful
-
Does it happen with some letters more than others? It may just be an issue with the circuitry.
The issue I'm seeing here is the use of the term "ghosting". Ghosting adds in an extra key every so often. Whereas key rollover has to do with simultaneous key presses. I wasn't trying to correct anyone originally, but now you're referring to ghosting as missing a key... Which is odd. I'm not too sure of the keyboard setup on the NP9150, but my guess would be one of two things:
1) Not pressing the key hard enough, or hitting it on the wrong angle.
or
2) Circuitry issues.
Although I can't be too certain. Never really looked into the keyboard issues on these. If it's the same issue on a mass scale, perhaps it's a design flaw. If that's the case, maybe CLEVO/Sager/Resellers can shed some light on the issue and a fix. If not, there unfortunately aren't many solutions. Sure, you could try the SteelSeries keyboard out of the MSI's. I've used a few of their desktop keyboards, but never the notebook version. Being set at the price it is, I'd hope there'd be no issues with it.... -
Good to know. Thanks for the heads up!
-
Like Rauch said, it's usually a key you need to press harder in the middle.
Your best options is to ask your resseller for another keyboard. It's a pretty well know issue. I'm sure your resseller will send you a new keyboard so you can change it yourself.
This can happen on the steelserie keyboard too. It's just badluck like dead pixel. -
Hello!
I got a P150EM a few months back, and I'm having temperature problems- it never shuts down or anything, but 90-100 temperatures seem to be the norm; repasting (though I may have cocked it up) doesn't seem to have fixed it. Is there anything else it could be? Sorry if this is a stupid question, this is the first time I really had a laptop worth checking the heat for. -
If you are seeing temps in that range (90-100 C) I would immediately STOP using the laptop before anything is permanently damaged. Make sure that all of your fans and heatsink assemblies (heatsink, heatpipes, fins, vents) are free of dust and obstructions. Also, you may want to think about redoing your thermal paste.
Also, an update on my new laptop, I choose the 95% matte screen and it is seriously the BEST screen I have ever seen, one of my main hobbies is photography (more expensive then computers!) and my pictures pop off the screen! -
It might be the pressing issue and I really hope that it's not something to do with circuitry.
I will check the connection and test some more >_< -
I bought a Clevo P150EM with the 675MX Nvidia Chip with it from Pro-Star. It will arrive by Wednesday.
-
Chances are it's most likely the pressing issue. Keyboards are so finicky nowadays. Just one of the plethora of downfalls of making things smaller.
One thing I still haven't become accustomed to yet is the smaller control key. Ctrl+F4 to close the tab... Oh damn I hit Fn+F4, time to suspend. -.- -

Congrats on the order! Once you get used to one type of keyboard it will take a little while to get used to the different style Sager has. -
Is it a public holiday in the US today - Veteran's Day? If so, I can stop checking the status of my order every hour

Even I would want to know..

Phase 3 is something we use for many things. If for any reason it needs to come to our facility from Sager (skinning, copper cooling, redline boost, etc...) then it'll be in phase 3 for further customization. If you wanted to PM your order details I could elaborate a little further. -
My laptop is already delivered sitting at my gf's house in the United States and I still need to wait another 2 weeks to get it brought to me : I ordered the 31st I believe...
-
Dang, I ordered mine on the 31st and I am showing still in phase 2.
