That's why I'm afraid to RMA again. They sent my laptop back with rattling inside. Apparently, the brittle screw holes on the case fell off and they just sent it to me like that...I ended up just asking them to send me that specific part (the top case with the palm rest) and I'd put it together myself. Was afraid something else would break if I sent it back. And replacing that top case was harder than I thought. At least I know it's done right with no plastic ripping off the case since I did it carefully myself.

    :p

I actually asked for a refund so I could place a new order.

Did you have to send the old part back? :p

There's actually a "dent(paint chipped off)" on a certain area of my keyboard... (visible when using at certain angles)

Sure, I could probably fix that part myself, but I don't know... Having a spare keyboard could be useful :p

No I didn't send it back. It's sitting in my laptop box lol. I could send it back if they want but I'm not paying for shipping. But I don't think it's even usable. One of the screw holes are gone. Two of those fell off my laptop but I'm not even sure if both of them were on this part of the case. But I couldn't find where the other one came from. But as long as I'm not hearing any rattling, I guess I don't care.

Though, I can't complain too much since they did give me the motherboard swap I wanted free of charge for the mSATA fix. And their tech support guy responds fast.

@Coolprizes: Just shot you a reply to your PM asking for further clarification. Just need to make of how you determined the part was missing as the OS wasn't selected as an option for the build and likely that the drivers were just missed for installation when you did so. Pretty rare for Sager to miss a piece of hardware to be installed.

I actually noticed the wifi card wasn't there after I swapped out the stock ram.

Off topic, but yeah: Sager used 1.35v Kingston valueram for my laptop (8gbx2) Just a little FYI for those wanting to add more ram and you want the ram to match.

Nothing to fix. As some have pointed out, Intel graphics drives the ports; not your discrete graphics. If I'm right you can connect upto two displays.

Just to be sure, the P15*SM machines can work with both 1.5V and 1.35V RAM, right?

No, the vram is always 1.35V, if you put 1.5V ram in you are gambling it can do the stock speed at 1.35v.

Anyone else having blackscreens when overclocking the HD 8970Ms GDDR5 VRAM? I got even to 8100 in 3DMARK11 only overclocking the core, but even when I try to move the VRAM clock a liitle bit, it goes black and I have to shut down pressing the power button. Any help?

The 8970M is limited on what can be overclocked since its essentially an overclocked 7970M.

ive always had Nvidia before and new drivers have installed like a charm.

been running the original clevo drives with no problem, but seeing the new official 13,9 drives i felt like updating.
removed the old drives try to install the new ones, catalyst install manager fail... ok try 13,10, same .

install the clevo drivers, no prob.
try to install new drivers over them, same .

horror stories? I don't get there are at max 5-10% people having some kind of issues (already including minor issues and stuff which is caused by the user and not by the notebook itself) u guys have to keep in mind, that in forums lile this, prople wgich some kind of issue are posting and all the ones which are more than happy with their notebook (in my case the p150sm) don't poste here. so maybe I should do it and let u guys know, that the p150sm is sturdy, awesome product quality and goof materials used (rubberized case) and so on. as I installed win 7 I used the win 7 drivers which u can find on the sager and the mysn (schenker) website. the temperatures even after hours and hours of playing dota2 never exceeded 68 degrees at the cpu and 72 degrees at the gpu. in bf3 tge temperatures were of course a bit higher (cpu 75 / gpu 83) overall I am perfectly fine and happy with the notebook

Those temps are actually high, I was getting gpu up to 99C without oberclocking, so I repasted, and now i dont get more than 75°C GPU, (8970M) and 61°C (4700QM) both overcloked, gpu to 1000mhz core, and cpu to one core 35x and multicores 34x. And my notebook wasnt even a week old -.-

So I installed Windows 8, and went to the start screen, blah blah blah. Then I said to myself: Where the fk is the shut down button?! Epic Fail. >.<

Installed/Purchased Start8 right after that. Much better :D

But yeah, Clevo has the left windows key wired internally as a "right windows key"... Weird.

So is anyone experiencing slow wifi initialization during startup (Windows 8)?

My 7260 decides to finally connect to a wifi hotspot after everything loads during startup...

It's annoying because steam keeps on coming up saying it couldn't connect, and when I click retry, I have to log in with my password even though I clicked "Save password"... >.>

EDIT: So I left it on the lockscreen for about 30 seconds... Wifi connects 25 seconds after logging in, just enough time to avoid that steam connection error...

I guess my boot up is too fast... I doubt it. I think it's a bug. :/

We have seen a few high temps. And so far it seems repasting solved it, or ordering a new heat sink solved it. (See the 780M temps thread for details on the heat sinks).

    Makes me wonder about QC.

    then that's extremely good.
what thermal paste did you use, how much and what application method?

I didn't want to believe mine had a bad paste job, since i paid extra for MX4 and ordered from pc specialist uk which has a great rep.
but with your results one cant afford not to try a repast hehe.

I also couldnt believe i was getting 99C one week after buying it -.- I used a Nox Thermal Paste from my local store, if your interested i can look for the model since i threw away the box. I took away the black protective sticker from the gpu, which had the old past applied on, cleaned the gpu with 96% alcohol and applied a big bead of thermal past and extended it with the thing that came with the past.

I am looking forward to owning the Sager NP8265 very soon, after much research about Sager's build quality I believe it's a safe investment and the best place I can get it from at the moment is XoticPC.com
Once I get this machine I'll be sharing the details of my discoveries in this thread. Perhaps if there's an actual NP8265 thread I'll post there instead but this is the closest I could find.

Got my P157SM back about three weeks ago just before heading out on vacation. I noticed that the airplane mode light is lit all the time. I hit the fn key combo and the icon in the upper left of the screen changes from on to off and back but the light never goes out. Should I be concerned? I had sent it back for a new motherboard because of the 2nd mSATA problem (revision 3.1A now 3.5A). I just hate to send it back again for such a minor thing. As long as it is just a minor thing.

    Any thoughts?

just placed an order for P150SM @ xoticpc

only upgraded gpu to 8970m, and even that only after much deliberation between it and the stock 770m. i'm more after price/performance and the $100 770->8970 just seemed so reasonable to me despite "driver concerns". thoughts?

Congrats! I think just about everyone that experienced the 7970 debacle will shudder at AMD drivers but haven't heard too many complaints on the current iterations so you should be fine. They're definitely nice cards and great value, I'll be sticking with my green team sticker personally though.

I had nothing but problems with my 8970 so I sent it back and will get it back today with a 780.

My 8970m was getting lesser performance than my g46 laptop with a 660m in most games.

Good input to have! Should definitely have got better performance than the 660m. Did you check out driver revisions to see if everything was updated? Attempt to trouble shoot with our service team?

I haven't had any problems with my 8970m. Just remember to have the latest beta drivers. The non-beta ones have trouble with utilization in directx 9 games. Other than that haven't had any problems.

So I am thinking of getting this from Mythlogic anyone here have any better suggestions? I would be useing it mostly for Photoediting. Only going with the 157sm over the 150 because it just seem's like with the extra vent on the bottom it will run cooler. And figured that the better cache of the 4900 would help me more for photo shop than the difference between the 8970 and the 780m

I got mine from pro-star and sent it to them. I had the latest drivers tried beta, and customs all to no avail.

The card may have been bad but I just sent it to them and asked them to put in a 780 and they did. And now it works :)
