I may be the Sound Blaster ones that are giving distortion, as they have various "effects"...

Maybe. You don't have to install if you don't want to though.

Hello. I am getting a new NP8265 in the mail on monday, and I will be installing some memory (it won't come with any stock). I've never done this in a laptop, and my question is, does it matter which slots you use, or will it run in dual channel mode regardless of which slots the memory is in? This might be covered in the user manual but since I don't have it yet I am just trying to make sure in advance. Thanks.

It does matter what slots you use. If I remember correctly, Clevo has made slots 1 and 3 "user-friendly" accessible, and the slots 2 and 4 require removing the keyboard.

    Use Slots 1 and 3.

Hey guys i might have missed your earlier conversation but there are somethings I'd like to know
    1.Between 150,151 and 157,which one is quieter?
2.Is it true that all these have fan problem where it easily max out it self?
3.When you are only doing basic browsing and movie watching, does the fan max? And how noisy is it?

Unlike desktop boards yes the two slots for dual channel operation are next to each other, so install it either of those pairs yes, either the pair under the hatch or the pair under the keyboard.

All models are the same in noise wise/

I think the factory fills the ones under the keyboard first, so upgrading or adding memory later will be easier.

It's not too hard to remove the keyboard at least so it wont make a huge difference.

    I own a P150SM, with a 780M and a 4700, and it's my first gaming laptop.

    1. I've only ever seen mine in action, so I can't answer this question for you.

    2. I don't really understand your question (I think), but I can easily play BF4 in turbo mode for hours straight without throtling or any problems at stock clocks with IC-Diamond paste. The fans however are at 100% load most of the time playing.
I'm not gonna lie, 100% is quite loud. But if you're wearing headphones or using a nice 5.1 I don't think it'll really bother you too much, it's one of the sacrifices you make of having so much power in a laptop. A friend of mine owns an MSI GT702OD and it's as loud if not louder.

    3. The fan won't max even if you're watching a blu-ray while browsing, but it will blow some from time to time. It doesn't really bother me though. It's more annoying when I'm concentrating on my work in word and it kicks in from time to time. It's not loud, but it's hearable.
I've also found that windows power management can make a difference. You can either select passive, which means it'll try to make the cpu run as slow and cool as possible in order to keep it silent and save power, or active which will mean it'll run a little smoother but will use more power and make more noise.

EDIT: Also, I've just undervolted my 4700MQ with -120mv stable. with 3400mhz on 2 cores 3500mhz on 1 core and 3300 on 3 cores. I could have gotten a little bit more but I didn't want to push it or risk being unstable. Then I went on to undervolt the Intel HD4600 I managed to get around -50mv stable.
This was tested with HWinfo64, Prime95, Aida64 extreme and FurMark and realized with Prema's Biosmod :D.
So thanks again Prema, I like your mod a lot! and I've donated some money (I'm a "poor" student so not that much).

I found that this makes a nice difference in temps and battery life today. It runs about 5-12 degrees cooler depending on the load which also helps making it a little more quiet.

    Hi,

I just wonder, will 150sm work stable with no dGPU installed? Both Win and Ubuntu?

I don't think it will boot without a dGPU. At least on some old models it won't pass POST.

The system doesn't require a functional card in the MXM slot, as long as a matching temp sensor is connected to the MXM circuit it will work just fine even without dGPU.
I am not sure if the EC still expects a temp reading with disabled dGPU, but you can try to use the Mod BIOS to disable the dGPU, then save, exit & shutdown and then remove the card.

That's a good test actually but considering where the EC is stored the EC still might not get the message.

Guys, I bought cooper heatsinks like those (AAB Cooling Ram Heatsink 2):
    http://sklep.chip.pl/product_pictur...Heatsink_2_Miedziane_radiatory_na_pami_ci.png
    8 pcs.

Any suggestions where I can install them on clevo p150sm? CPU? I saw that someone is installing them even on heatpipe. Any suggestions?

What else I should do to improve temp? (except tape mod and cooler pad [i will order zalman nc3500]). I know that making more holes on the bottom will help but I do not want to loose a warranty.. maybe if I will get new one for replace, but I have no idea where I can get this.

Since the Intel 7620-AC is 2x2, I was curious whether NP8265 (P150SM model) allows two antenna plugs or one?

So P150SM allows upto 3x3 cards. Good to know. Thanks!

Does anyone know whether Intel is coming up with 3x3 AC cards? So far no news on that.

This is the way I used the same set of heatsinks. The fan helps reduce CPU temps by 4-5C.

No point in adding them if you are doing nothing to the airflow.

can you explain? what should I do with airflow? As I said I will use cooling pad so maybe it will give more flow inside?

Not if you have the cover on. There is little airflow inside in the cover away from the fans themselves (adding ramsinks makes this even lower) so putting ramsinks on with no airflow is storing heat but not removing it from the chasis. Expext ram/msata temperatures to rise as a result.

I just bought a clevo p150sm with this specs:

    i7-4700
    HD8970M
    ram 8gb and hd 750GB 7200rpm

is it better to install windows 7 or 8.1 in your opinion?
I tried with windows 7 and the latest amd drivers but they are not stable, for example when i play bf4 i have always crashes after 5-10min

I've got very similar specs to yours and I run Windows 8 Extreme Edition 64bit without any issues.

    BF4 runs smoothly too.

What are your temperatures like on your gpu/cpu? Does the battery show discharge after the crash (say 95%)?

Hi, when the temperature are about 70 C after 10-15 min of playing, the fans start to rotate very fast and noisy.
But sometimes i get the crash also at the beginning, like after 2-3 minutes...
I havent noticed the battery discarge (i play always with the charged plugged)

Yes but if the adapter was giving out the battery would take over for a short time and either crash or the performance would dive and the system would shut down with a low battery.

The fans should spin fast in a game to keep the card cool.

I controlled and I haven't noticed any drop in the battery, it's always 100%
    Probably it's a bf4 bug, I'm not sure...
It crashes randomly sometimes after 10min sometimes after 30sec, the screen freezes and I can hear the sound for a bit. The task manager don't work and I have to turn the pc off pressing the power button

Battlefield can be very stressful, try underclocking your graphics card, it could be picking up that your card is not quite stable.

Do you have an AMD card? Because you need to tweak the settings a little to get it to work with Afterburner.
