Yeah should be a big improvement from my trusty old Thinkpad T61P (T7500, 6gb DDR2, Quadro FX 570M)

Should get me a little closer to my desktop (i5 4670k, HD7970),

The only adjustment will be the added weight and thickness compared to the Thinkpad, which I don't think will be that drastic.

Regretting not adding the $49 rush production. How many days do you think that would save me and can it be added at this point?

Rush build could take as short as 2 days.

Officially it's estimated at 1-4 business days but Sager tends to stick at that 2-3 mark. You sure can still add it. Just give us a call.

Just talked with Deb (who is awesome by the way) and she got me all set up. Dont know why I didnt do the rush production in the first place.

Good to hear! Be sure to let us know if anything else comes up, otherwise congrats on becoming that much closer to having the machine!

    hey guys! Need some advise!
I am planning to buy for me and my wife 2 laptops. Currently we are planning to buy Clevo 157SM (I found it on mysn.co.uk as XMG P503). Now, we are located in Lithuania(a teeny tiny country in EU, full of barbarians and so on, as the legend says.. :D ), any idea which retailer would be shipping to here? Also, we are planning to emigrate to UK around May this year, where it would be best to order these laptops, to get them shipped here, but so that warranty would be still valid after going to UK, and since we will be buying 2 identical laptops, maybe it is possible to get some discount? (after all it does cost quite a bit of money, especially when you buy 2).
The setup we think of buying is:
    Intel 4700MQ
    nVidia GTX 780
    matte 95% gamut display
4GB RAM (as extra 4 GB costs way more than buying separately and installing myself, will upgrade to 8GB as soon as I get it)
    1TB HDD (preferably 7.2k rpm)
    ~250GB SSD
    backlit US layout keyboard

    so, any advise?

    ***Update***
Forgot to mention, optional paintjob would be a great thing, as my wife would love to have it in pink.... I heard somewhere it is possible.

The warranty itself will still be valid no matter where you're located, it's just a matter of the shipping cost being covered or not. Pretty sure just about anyone would be willing to ship to you as well. Most of us have no problem doing so but will typically require wire transfer for the payment method. For the painting option, I'm not aware of a UK reseller of Clevo that does that level of customization, just a few of us here in the states that do as far as I have heard. We're not allowed to talk about pricing here on the forums but if you want to get a hold of me via PM, Email, or in our live chat I'd be glad to answer any questions you have.

Finally! I have got mine laptop :)

First question, as in previous with the same HDD i got around 35-36 C and here minimum is 41 C ? This is fine?
And the Intel PCH is all the time 78 C and higher, this is normal?

wow, so that intel can stand really high temperatures? Max it was 103,5 later. But the utilization and temp for HD8970m are fine like 86 max? They are pretty high because here I can read reports that people have max 75 or so....

Anyone know how long Phase 1 at XoticPC takes? Credit card was charged last Wednesday, posted on my account the next day.

Trying to be patient but for some reason my Thinkpad has become increasingly slow ever since I hit the submit order button ;)

Phase one takes the longest then you'll get a bunch of updates within a couple days. Once you get the Phase 2 updates the computer is usually ships within a day or two from that.

I have the sager 8255 (157SM), and have an upgrade question.

I have a dvd player installed, just for reference.

It says two 2.5 hdd slots + two ssd slots. This means I can put in two 2.5 hard drives as well as two solid state drives in addition to the dvd player? How hard is this to do, manual makes it look pretty complicated?

In addition, there are 4 ram slots. Mine came with 2 8 gig ram cards put into SODIMMS slots, which are the hard to get to under the keyboard slots, I believe. Does this means I have 2 more easily accessible slots under the machine? Are these hard to install?

    The NP8255 has:
    2 x mSATA slots
    1x 2.5" hard drive bay
1x drive bay for SSD (7mm)
1x Optical bay which can be removed and a HDD can be put in there when mounted to a caddy.

There are 2 RAM slots under the keyboard and 2 under the main bottom panel. I think RAM is easy to install, just make sure you put it in about a 30 degree angle.

The exact label of those drives will be important.

    2x mSATA bays
1x 2.5" HDD bay that fits mechanical HDD
1x 2.5" HDD bay that only fits SSD
    1x Optical drive

Pretty easy to do once you get in there, but if you're not familiar or comfortable with doing it then definitely seek out help.

RAM will also be easy to install once you locate them via your user manual and opening it up. Just a matter of plugging them in securely and you're good to go.

Would you mind expanding upon the hdd issue? I'm not familiar with msata bays. I assume that mine came with the hdd/ssd in their respective 2.5 hdd bays.

mSATA drives go in a specific mSATA slot which are different then a SATA port you put a HDD in.

So ultimately, what does that mean in terms of hdd upgrading? Sorry, I'm not really familiar with hardware.

Looking it up, it appears that msata's are essentially only sdd's, is that correct?

What do you mean it fits only SSDs? There are some 7mm HDDs, are you saying they don't work? I was under the impression a 7mm hard drive would work.

mSATA is a special connector that is smaller. It is mostly used for SSDs. So if you want to use it, you just buy a mSATA SSD drive. They can cost a bit more than a standard SATA drive, and can be harder to find.

You can also buy an adaptor and replace the optical drive with a SATA drive.

That is correct a mSATA is SSD technology in a different form factor and goes into mSATA specific slots.

What hardware do you have in there now besides the DVD player you mentioned. You can update your signature to include it as well.

If you have one drive in your primary bay right now then you can add a 7mm drive in that second bay and 2 mSATA drives.

You are right any 7mm drive will fit. Most notebooks HDD's are 9mm but a 7mm will work if you get one.

Oh, taking a look at the purchase order more closely, this is the relevant information.

    - mSATA SSD Drive ( Slot 1 ): 120GB Crucial M5 mSATA SSD - Preconfigured as an OS Drive ( Operating System – Drive C: )
    - mSATA SSD Drive ( Slot 2 ): NO mSATA Solid State Drive
    - Primary Hard Drive: 1TB 7200RPM [SATA II - 3GB/s] (SKU - HDD097)
    - Second Hard Drive: None Standard
    - Optical Drive Bay: 8X Super Multi DVDRW/CDRW Combo Drive (Sager) (SKU - ODD099)

So this means I have an extra hard drive slot and an msata slot. You mentioned before, however, that the second hard drive slot is actually configured only for ssd's?

You got it, you have one open mSATA slot and an open bay for a 7mm drive. Most of the 7mm options you'll find are SSD but as ajnindlo pointed out there are 7mm HDD available.

As far as you'll be concerned they'll all be the same. The only different form factor that resembles them are NGFF M.2 ones which are hard to find. As long as it says mSATA you're good to go.

    Hey guys,

I installed the new prema BIOS mod for my P157SM, and everything seems fine...now I want to know how to tweak and OC stuff. I'm mostly new to this so if there is some kind of guide or something out there I'd appreciate a link to it. The only thing I have changed so far is setting the RAM to 1T. Other than that...I'm not sure what I can safely do with voltages and whatnot.

My GPU is a 780m. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

The 4700MQ. I'm just worried about the PSU restraints on the laptop..? Also, I have no idea what to do with the memory clocking (DDR3-1600) in terms of what to change in the BIOS settings.

I guys, I want to add SSD to my p150sm. Now I have only 1TB HDD. How should I do that? Where should I install it? There are 2 slots for it right? One is under HDD and one is somewhere esle?
Samsung 840 EVO 500gb will be fine? On amazon I saw then in 3 versions, normal, laptop kit and desktop kit, should I buy normal or laptop kit?

One more question, probably I have to reinstall windows, but do I have to do anything else? Something in bios or install some special drivers?

Will I see a big difference in performance? Or just windows will be faster?

Bought this computer near the start of last summer and ever since it has been great. 2 days ago I went to turn it on and a blue screen came up saying that it was missing files required to boot up. Now it is saying that I need to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key. Anyone know what happened and what I can do to resolve this issue? image.jpg

Maybe HDD issue ? Can you see HDD/SSD in bios?

Normally this screen is appearing when there is no system on drive or its not connected. Maybe you messed up with windows boot?

What is your current setup? I have 2xmSATA RAID0 set as boot drive and once in a while I get the same "select boot device" error. I presume it is the famous issue with mSATA slots on P150SM which Clevo had on pre-3.5 versions. Usually, power disconnect and reboot does the trick.

I would start by booting into BIOS. First, to make sure your mSATA (C: drive) is listed (should be AHCI mode) and second, to check if boot order has it above other drive options (USB, HDD).

That message usually means that its set to try to boot from the ethernet port first.

If the SSD is set at the first boot option you can also try opening up the computer to make sure the SSD is seated properly into the port.

Received my np8265s from Xotic yesterday. Been spending most of my time trying to get used to Windows 8.1 (first time using it, not as bad as people have said) and setting it up for daily use. I'll have to post a more detailed review after using it for a while.

    Early review:
-Seems well built, rubberized surfaces, not a lot of fingerprint magnet gloss :) The one negative that I didn't anticipate with this is that due to the rubberized outer surface it is difficult to remove from my laptop bag which has a padded liner that seems to hold on to the laptop, at least I know it wont be slipping out.

-Keyboard is nice and solid, need to get used to the positioning of some keys and would have preferred hardware volume buttons, but I knew what I was getting into. I like having a num pad. Delete key is in a strange position.

-I would have chosen a different, more smooth surface for the trackpad, which is slightly rubberized like the entire laptop. I'm getting use to that though. I miss the thinkpad trackpoint :(

-Nice and snappy, have the 250gb Samsung 840 EVO msata so that was expected, Windows 8.1 is very smooth.

-Fan noise is barely audible for desktop use, haven't done much hardcore gaming yet, just a little minecraft. Stays very cool so far. Will be stress testing in the next few days.

Nothing else to report for now, so far I am very pleased. I'll report back on stress testing, gaming, sound, and anything else that pops up maybe in a week or so. Open for any questions people might have too.

Nothing has solved the issue, I've been talking with technical support for the computer and they stated that it could be an issue with windows itself and that I may be able to repair it. Everything I've tried with that hasn't solved the issue as well. Any suggestions? I have all my school files on my secondary drive that I would rather not lose if possible, especially if I have to wipe the system. Any help would be appreciated

You should really just provide us with some more details, (or am I reading over them?) like your setup and your BIOS settings.
Without those it's just anyones guess,

Answering the questions asked so far, and maybe some information about your setup and additional information would be a good start.

If you have all the files on your second drive you can reinstall Windows on the mSATA and you wont lose the files on the HDD. You can even take the HDD out while you're reinstalling Windows just to be extra safe.

I'm considering buying an extra msata ssd in my P150SM, but my motherboard is v3.1A. Should I bother or should I just spend more money and go with a larger 2.5" one. (replacing my current hdd in the 2.5" slot)
I've also read somewhere here that Mythologic delivered the 3.1A motherboards with some msata ssd's it did work with (or didn't have problems with). If one of you'd be able to tell me which SSD's those are you'd help me out a lot :).

Went to reset my PC from the windows installation disk and it is telling me that a required drive partition is missing. Don't really understand what is going on and at a loss on what else I could do :/
    But here's my bios

Cant really tell what the problem is by those pics.
You should be able to select the mSATA drive as where you want to install Windows. You may also have to tell it to format the mSATA drive before you can do it, which should be an option shown.

You would probably see more real use benefit by skipping the second mSATA and getting the SSD. While having 2 mSATA drives in RAID 0 will show awesome benchmark scores, you wouldn't see too much noticable difference in daily use. The Samsung Evo drives are the most popular right now.

A single larger SSD will usually give better small file performance too.
