I have P150SM from Mythlogic, mb v3.2. Installed 2x 256 M5M Plextor msata drives in raid0. My reason was not to waste available slot and have fast 512 array for system and data disk in hdd slot (not losing optical drive). All runs well 99.9% of the time, except as I posted above, sometimes getting boot device error forcing to disconnect power and reboot. Overall, I have no problem living with this giving that 2x plextors were way faster on all tests than single drives i tried (including 840pm and 840pro).
-
Thanks for the adviceI currently have a single 256gb plextor m5m, I do agree with Hutsady on the all SSD setup, it's faster overall. But I think I'm going to try the 2x plextor setup too, simply because I don't want to lose my current 1TB 2.5" HDD on which I store my pictures, music and other data. I was just wondering if it was safe, I've also contacted my local reseller and he said he had never heard of the issue...(he's selling them with Intel drives). That 99.9% of the time, should I interpret that as about once a week with heavy daily usage or more/less often?

I'd sell that M5M and get an evo 512GB then.

Hey guys my touch-pad is driving me insane. I cannot disable the swipe from right gesture that shows the charms bar. I am running Win 8.1 and have tried everything I can find.
I have tried change PC Settings > PC and Devices > Mouse and touchpad, the setting is not there like I have seen online.
I have tried going to the touchpad device settings under application gestures, the setting is not there like I have seen online.
I have tried editing the registry values like this one as seen in different tutorials. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\ZoneConfig\TouchPadPS2\Left Edge Pull]
“ActionType”=dword:00000000
I tried changing driver versions to Synaptics Driver 16.3.4.0 as someone mentioned in this forum
I am sick of the charms bar popping up when I use my touch pad, If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. -
-
If someone fixed it another way, I would love to hear it. -
I don't have windows 8 but these people all fixed their problem with the windows 8 charms thing.

How to enable touch-pad gestures on Windows 8 laptops | Windows 8 - CNET Reviews
How to disable gestures (charms bar, edge swipes, etc...) - Microsoft Community
How do you disable ALL 4 Charms bar auto triggers - Microsoft Community
I would go through those links starting from the top and see if they work. Some of these said the same thing that the option is not there under application so they had better success with these things. -
Wooo I fixed it. looking at some of these guides motivated me to just go ahead and play with all the registry values and I found the one that fixed it, it was not any mentioned in any fix/guides I found.
I am running driver version v17.0.9.1 that's the newest one I could get to work on Windows 8.1. Software Upgrade
To dissable the right edge swipe for the charms bar go CMD > regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\ZoneConfig\TouchPadPS2_1\Right Edge Pull
Right click "SliderActivationThresholdMils"
Modify
for "Value data" enter "ffffffff" (that's 8 Fs)
restart computer
Disclaimer, I have no idea what I am doing or what I did, It's not my fault if this all goes horribly wrong.
Edit: After playing with it a bit, it seems that if i make a movement that would have activated the charms bar it just doesn't do anything not even move the mouse. even so I prefer this new dead zone to the charms bar popping out. -
Interesting. Maybe now we just need to decrease the area it considures the "RightEdge".
-
You can always try mouse settings in control panel...

hey guys! any1 had any experience buying from novatech? PC Components, Desktop PCs, Laptops, LCD TVs & Computer Hardware
I finally found a company selling clevo P150/P151 with my required specs at a really good price! The only problem is that they don't offer 95% gamut screens. I found few on ebay and contacted sellers about them(to make sure they are exact same model, and are matte coated).
Does any1 know if the connector in P150 should be on bottom left of lcd backside? I will have to replace 2 of them(buying laptops for myself and my wife).
Oh, and a s a side note. I do hope that their keyboards are backlit. otherwise will have to continue my search for EU resellers.... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The 95% panels exist only with the connector in the right place.
-
Which delivers to Belgium, France, Germany and The Netherlands. So far their service has been very nice, they've always answered all my questions. So maybe if you live somewhere else and you ask them they'll ship one to you.
The P150SM is called "Destiny" in their store btw. -

The main sm series except for the xx1sm models should be back lit.

Hi,
Hi have BSOD with my P151SM, like one BSOD per day.
Here is my full configuration:
Geforce GTX 770M 3Go with 95%Gamuts screen
Intel® i7-4800MQ
DDR3 Sodimm 16Go 1600Mhz (pack 4x4Go) quadri-channel
RAID0 SSD Kignston 60Go mSATA
500Go SSHD 64Mo cache
Wifi Intel AC7260
BlueRay
I'm with Windows 8.1, all my drivers are up to date, my BIOs too, and the BIOS and FW of SSDs too. I try to unistall Windows the Reinstall it, nothing change. RAM problem?
Here is my lastest BSOD, since 3 days (whocrashed):

I would start by running Memtest86 to test your ram.
-
Most likely memory or a driver. Start with a memtest as suggested. If it finds a problem, test one module at a time. It could be a bad module or slot, or only when that module is in a specific slot. Or just that the memory was loose.
Having the latest drivers helps, but it could be a driver conflict, or a bug in the driver. Hopefully the memtest finds it, as that is the easiest. -
Ok so, i made 3 pass with no errors :/

Check to see if your mSATA and SSHD drives have firmware updates. You can usually get those from the manufacturers site.
-
I already did it ! ^^

Try removing two of the sticks of ram and running just 8gb for a while. I've heard of some computers having instability while running in quad channel. I really think it sounds like a ram issue.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk -
So i remove 2 sticks, i'm gonna try like that for 2-3 days to be sure !

Hi Everyone.
Ok. So after spending the last 4 days researching laptop's I'm set (at the moment) on the P150SM. This is after considering Alienware, MSI GS70, Gigabyte and P170SM. My current laptop is the NP8130 w/ 560M. Thought I'd try something other than Clevo but go figure - sticking with it as it seems to be the best price/performance gaming machine around. Plus my Np8130 is still running strong (only had to replace a fan in the time I have owned it)
The P150SM I'm looking at is with the AMD 8970M - I cannot stretch to the 780M budget wise. This would be a better choice than the 770M correct?
I'm in Australia. Is affordablelaptops here still the best place to purchase this machine? with the 8970M and 95% gamut screen (thought I'd try this and see what the fuss is about) it comes to just over $2k.
Thanks in advance for your assistance -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The 8970m is considerably faster than the 770m yes unless you like dx9 titles in which it's still faster but by a bit less.

Long time lurker, third (or is it more?...I dunno) time poster..
I had a question about updating the Intel Display drivers. I've had it happen to me a couple of times now where I accidentally check the box to update the Intel Display driver in my windows update (currently running 8.0) and when my machine reboots, it boots to a black screen. I don't even get to see the POST or BIOS message. After a minute of freaking out, I remember this happened during the first week I had the machine, and my solution is always to plug a HDMI cable into the back, connect it to my monitor/tv, and go and undo the update. This restores everything to normal, so then I just ignore windows prompting me to update Intel Display...until I hastily run through an update and mindlessly check the dang box again.
I'm curious: is there a way to properly update the Intel Display drivers? I can update/uninstall/pick my flavor of the AMD drivers (8970m) just fine. Whenever anything updates my Intel Display driver, I get the black screen.
Am I to live with the older drivers forever, or am I doing something wrong? Do I have to uninstall the AMD first, then update Intel, then re-install AMD? Should I abide by the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality? Are there any advantages to updating to the latest, if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong?
If it helps, I'm running a Mythlogic 1613 (Clevo P150SM).
Thanks! -
I don't personally know about safely updating, (pretty sure I read about it somewhere in this thread though...) but you can also right click that update and "hide update" so that you don't make that mistake in the future.

Test for a few days and swap them around. It could be wrong memory, one or two bad sticks, or a bad slot, or just one was loose. I have not heard of the P15x-SMs having problems with quad channel. I believe many are actually sold with four sticks of 4GB.

Try them in the other slots too.
-
Did you buy this laptop with all 4 sticks installed? What brand are they? I've run into the case before where a motherboard just doesn't like a certain brand/speed in a certain configuration (ie. quad channel). Although I haven't found any evidence of the P15x-SMs having this issue, as ajnindlo said. -
On another note. To the XoticPC reps. How do I get my free copy of the batman game I was supposed to get?

Wonder if this means a refresh with the 8xxm cards is coming?
-
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Most companies are doing that at the moment.
-
oh refresh,,, you mean like taking the 8970m and renaming it to the r9?
-
Really liking my np8650s after the first few weeks. There are two issues I'm having that I wonder if anyone else experienced.
-I always put the computer to sleep when before I pack it up and go home from work. Its plugged in and 100% battery while at work. Sometimes I don't wake the computer until the next day at work. When I do wake it the battery life is usually around 50-60%. This is a crazy amount of battery drain in one night while in sleep mode. This weekend I didn't use the laptop for a couple days and it was shut off from the batter being completely drained. I checked the event log and nothing is waking it from sleep and no usb devices are plugged into it while its in its case. Its set to sleep when the lid is closed on battery.
-The fingerprint reader software, BioExcess or something. Flashes up in the top left hand corner from time to time with the little fingerprint icon with red x through it indicating an invalid fingerprint swipe. I've uninstalled and re-installed the software and drivers and I continue to have the issue. It was so annoying I left the software uninstalled.
Any one experience these issues or have any ideas?
Win8.1 x64 for reference -
I have a Toshiba laptop with win 8.1 X64 that experiences quick drain when powered down, I still haven't pinpointed the cause, seems like the Win 8.1 hibernate isn't shutting down all processes. I do not have that problem with my P150SM running the same OS.
A friendly suggestion? I would strongly urge you to never put a laptop into an enclosed case while it is powered on (sleeping or hibernating). I have mistakenly done this and opened the case to find the machine had awakened during transport and turned the inside of the case into a convection oven. I'm certain this extreme heat did nothing to extend the lifespan of the machine's components. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You need to be careful of your sleep/awake settings if you intend to do that certainly.
-
hey guys!
at last my day has come...
Ordered 2 laptops today, one of which is 3XS Graphite LG1510-N780
and another for my wife - 3XS Graphite LG135
mine was a steal. best price from all clevo resellers.
my config is:
i7-4700QM
780M
256 plextor SSD
1TB 7,2k RPM hdd
8GB RAM
unfortunately there was no 95% gamut option, so will buy that lcd separately and install myself.
and wifes config is identical, just with nVidia 765M and 13" IPS panel.
Should get it by end of next week, and I am laready dreaming what it will be like, as currently I am using 2007 Jan laptop(DELL D820)...... my time is coming! -
I use hibernate instead of sleep, so haven't noticed the problem.
As for the 95% panel, I think you will be happy with the panel it comes with. Congrats. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well he can see when he gets the machine and then get it later.
