I recieved my p150sm a few weeks ago, got it for 1000 euro plus a 250 GB 840 EVO which is a very good price.
My setup is: P150SM
CPU: 4700MQ
GPU: 8970M 4GB
RAM: 8GB 1600MHZ vengeance
mSATA: 120GB
SSD: Samsung EVO 840 250GB
Everything worked fine at first except for the amd drivers not working, had to chase down a working driver..
But now I have problems again, the amd driver keeps crashing with error message "Graphics driver amdkmdap has stopped responding and have successfully been restored" and while this happens the screen goes black for a second or two.
I reinstalled the drivers which was a project in it self as it took like six times uninstalling and reinstalling before they would successfully install.
Even used DDU but that didn't even want to make them reinstall sucessfully..
I still have the issues with the driver keeps crashing plus GPU-Z shows the wrong info which it hasn't before, like 200million GB of VRAM and 2048 shaders.
I'm really stuck here.

Hello, I am thinking about buying p150sm with gtx 780, but most reviews ( early ones) states that the fans are winding up too randomly, they are quite loud even with browsing and watching films. Has these problems been reduced with newer bios?
Can I watch a movie without to much fan noise? I am not bothered with fan noise while gaming. But watching a movie without disturbing my girlfriend would be nice... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There was an EC update to smooth the fans, the GPU fan will shut off if the GPU is inactive, so if you make sure the movie program goes off the IGP only then it should be quiet.

The CPU fan switches between "off" and "step 1", which is in my opinion clearly audible. The frequence is relatively high, so i can hear it also if i wear headphones (@low volume level) or i'm in the neighboring room (if the door isn´t closed). So it is not really silent and it can be quite annoying if you are sensitive.
The EC-Updates improved the behaviour but of course not the characteristics of the fan itself.Norseman likes this. -
Ok, so it is not very silent when watching a movie... I am really divided on this one. The Asus G750JH got a really good review here in Norway when it comes to fan noise, but it is still a 17 and that is a big machine...
-
There are of course customers who don't complain about this and the "truth" is perhaps in between (i would count me to the more "sensitive" group). I have to admit, that i don't use a air condition or other household appliances, which produce noises and may overlap the fan noise.

Hi hoping some owners of the P150SM can provide some advice.
I'm about to order this laptop tomorrow (in Australia)
Specs will be:
P150SM
95% Gamut Matte Display
CPU: 4700MQ
GPU: AMD 8970M 4GB
RAM: 8GB
mSATA: 128GB Plextor M5M
SSD: 256GB Plextor PX-M5S
I am not sure if It would be worth spending another $80 upgrading the wireless card from stock to the Killer 1202 one. I've currently got the P151HM which uses the stock card and havn't really had a problem but always looking for things to improve.
I'll be playing many online games.Help is appreciated.
If it is relevant. I'm on ADSL2 and using a Billion 7401vgpr3 and get roughly 700KB/sec download on avg (in a regional area so cannot get the best connection here)
Cheers -

80 dollars seems like a lot when it's an easy enough upgrade to do yourself.

Hey guys! First post here. I've had this account for the longest time and completely forgot about it. I apologize. Hopefully i'll be more active now. Hello!
Is anyone having problems with the Intel 4600 card?
The new driver(s) completely messed up my screen. This Happened randomly when i was playing a game namely, Diablo 3, the game crashed along with the 4600 driver and got prompted with this message: ''Display driver stopped working and has Recovered''. The screen got completely ''Tored'' or filled with Pixels. It got so bad that i could no longer open apps anymore. I even reinstalled windows in hopes the problem would be solved but, it persisted.
No solutions for this problem yet other than, either, disable the Driver or uninstall it all the way back to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
Already posted in the Intel community forums and waiting for an answer.

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'd go back to an earlier version of the driver but don't update the intel driver unless you going after something specific as it wont help gaming performance.
-
That's what i figured. That's what i'm currently doing but, it doesn't seem to work. Looks like all driver version are having problems. I'll just have to rely on Microsoft Basic Display Adapter for now.
Thanks for your reply Meaker! -
I have the P170SM, and I get almost no fan noise while watching a movie. I would considure myself sensitive. If I load up the cpu it can become noticable, and gaming with the dGPU the fan gets loud. Noise is subjective, but I think reviews said a top of 50db. I use over the ear headphones when gaming and don't hear the fan that way.
-
So here I am on the verge of buying a clevo 150 sm with gtx 780, wich is controversial when it comes to fan noise. But it is just 5 months ago I convinced my girlfriend to return her laptop, a Sony Vaio pro 13`3 because I thought it was too noisy...
-
You should buy a P570 and train yourself to live with it.

But it is my girlfriend I am worried about. Maybe I shall buy something to her to prepare her for the ekstra "wind" in our apartement

Expect fan noise from any gaming computer. Its the price you pay for high performance. Without that, the computer would just overheat. You would have to give up performance to get a very quiet computer.
Fan noise while I am gaming is not a problem. I have narrowed my question to this, I hope you can answer;
Will my dGPU fan start when I am watching a movie? Someone told me that if they have played a game before watching a movie, it will not start. But it will if I start movie-watching on a "cold" machine.
Is there a truth to this? -
The GPU fan is allways deactivated, if you are only using the integrated intel graphics (which should be the case, if you watch a video [even blu ray]). Of course the CPU fan does kick in after some time (when the CPU Core reaches ~40°C).
In my personal point of view and reading some tests from the vaio: you will find the clevo at least as loud as the vaio (or even much louder). -

You can NOT disable the iGPU on a muxless hybrid graphics machine.
-
Especially for the price.
From the last posts of you i get the feeling, that you are mostly watching movies on your notebook and coming from a relatively new and hardware wise more "moderate" notebook i am not sure if you need that much power.
As Hutsady stated you have to expect fan noise from any gaming computer/notebook.
But then again I have to agree with loop, that the fan noise, especially for more sensitive people, could and will most certainly be too much. Almost exactly the same was stated in the test from notebookcheck.
Review Schenker W503 (Clevo P150SM) Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews
I do have an comparison between the p150sm and a business and multimedia book. (l530 and asus n56) The Clevo barebone is much more audible and the fan has a high pitch to its sound. Maybe clevo uses different fans in some batches of their production, but i wouldn't count on it.
You should also know, that the speakers are not the best. They can get very(!) loud and highs aren't too bad, but the lows and mids are a little bit underwhelming. Especially compared to the asus with the external mini subwoofer. So if you are watching movies without headphones or external speakers please bare that in your mind.
The quality of the sound delivered by the 3.5mm headphonejack should be enough for the most of us, but if you are more of an audiophile listener there is much to be desired, even in comparison to other notebooks.
I have to apoligze, that this post seems relatively negative, but i feel, that the strength of the notebook isn't its use as a primary multimedia book.
It is perfectly capable of doing even the most demanding tasks (gaming, rendering etc.) with relative ease(depends on the config) and the notebook itself is well build.
I would suggest that you read a view reviews, think what kind of performance you need (which games do you play etc.).
If you focus is on a high performance system and you are willing to live with some compromises, go for it.LoopNBj likes this. -

Thanks @Deflector for this very good statement. I couldn't describe it better
I also have the comparison between Lenovo L530 and ASUS N56 and those laptops are very quiet (also when gaming). As Deflector stated, the clevo is clearly more audible and has a "high" pitch (or frequence) -
Anybody know if you are limited to the 9.5mm drives when using the optical drive HD caddy?

I'm worried it's Hardware problem/Graphics Card got damaged. (forgot to add this happened after i started using a Second Screen for the first time). -

Does this happen on the external screen too?

Hi,
I'm New here! I just got a bare boned P150SM($760) with a i7-4700 Haswell. I recently got a Nvidia 770M($260) off eBay and installed it. Where and how do I install the ram under the keyboard. Also, I need help with the M-Sata installation. If someone can direct me to a YouTube video of this procedures, much appreciated. I got another question, if the Nvidia 5100M GPU can fit into the P150SM? Thanks for the help.
My future update for my P150SM, if possible: 2X Samsung 1TB Msata Raid 1, 1X Samsung 1TB SSD, Blu-ray Burner, Spare Battery, 32gb Ram 2133, 4940mx CPU, Nvidia 5100M 8GB GPU, 3M Vinyl Carbon Fiber(Custom Cut) case film, Targus Screen Protector, Silicone Port Plugs, and Maybe a 3D Screen if anyone knows that fit... -

Next to the GPU i a little hole that goes through the motherboard and casing to below the panel above the keyboard, put a screwdriver through this hole and push the cover off (you can alternatively lever this off but it might damage the casing, it's not screwed down) the screws for the keyboard will be exposed.
-
Can you post a picture of this hole? I just order Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2133 Sodimm for next week. Next month I'm order one of the Msata.
-

It's where the heatpipes enter the fins of the heatsink on the GPU, that little gap there. You'll see it when you look.

hi all!
Well I finally got my Clevo PC(from Scan.co.uk, 5 stars to them for outstanding service an incredible price)
However I got a bit of a problem. Hotkey driver isn't working properly on windows 8. no issues with brightness or other controls, but keyboard backlit control is broken. sometimes it works, sometimes it remains off, no matter what I do.
Also "Control Center" starts up, but I cannot open it. it appears on taskbar but I can't see the window(again, no matter what I do.)
anybody got any solution? I used driver from here: CLEVO - Download
forgot to mention, it is P150SM -
Would this screen fit in my P150sm?

Likely it uses a 50pin lvds so no.

And now the wait for the new machine to get built and shipped. I hate this part.
-
Are there any sleeves that fit these machines really well? Figure I can spend some time looking for some goodies to go with the notebook.
-
on the same boat, done ordering the new P157SM from Xoticpc, and now it's time for that dreadful waiting game @.@ especially with the ETA march 21st only 2 days away...

Does anybody know what I can do to make windows battery show remaining time while on battery? Atm all I see is the charge level but no remaining time.
All drivers are installed (except IRST).
Thank you. -
This feature is sadly for these Clevo Notebooks not available - you can use the tool BatteryBar, which showes you remaining time or percentage. The capacity chip in the battery is missing, so you need a program, that calculates the estimated remaining runtime.
-
EC Update? That the main clevo/sager drive page?
That may help. Noise wise this thing is dead silent unless gaming, then its pretty noise. Except the fan will randomly spin up (kind of loud) when idling every few minutes.
No luck on a smaller PSU I assume? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The classic way of getting an upgrade and thinner brick is to use a 240W dell and mod it.
-
Has anybody had any screen flickering issues on their p150sm? I get them from time to time in BIOS/games/windows etc, it looks like something disturbs the screen and not like artifacts from a defective GPU. It's just 2 months old and I hate to RMA it as the service shops are horrible here.
