If you're getting them even in BIOS that points to a hardware/connection problem. Is it pretty regular or just every so often? Does moving the display cause it to happen or affect it? Possible to shoot a video?

It happens on random occations, it happens both when the dGPU is running and when it's not, I'll have to check if it happens when connected to an external screen. Sometimes it seems to happen if I bump the computer ever so slightly, moving the display back and forth does not make it flicker.

Weird thing is, days can go by without it happening and then all of a sudden it starts doing it. A reboot seems to help sometimes too.
I'll try to film it but the problem is so elusive I might not catch it on film :D

I'd be willing to bet we can blame the old stand by of AMD :)

A video would be great to help though.

I haven't seen this answered but I might be blind. This is in regards to the P157SM-Special Edition.

Is this system able to upgrade to the 8 series Nvidia cards? How about 4X10 series of CPUs? Mine currently has a 780M and a 4700 in it but wonder if it is possible to do that in the future if I ever need to do so.

Hello Everyone. It's my first post in this thread. I think I'm having overheating issue with my sager np8255.

My laptop's mid part of keyboard is very warm even if the laptop is in desktop only and no application is running. The air going out the vents is not hot but my keyboard is very warm.

    Is this normal? Thanks.

    Hi !

Under the keyborad , there is the PCH , this chip is here to manage all the things that your processor doesn't do ( USB , Display, storage control, etc). and it can be really hot, but it's not really a problem ^^
You should check temperatures of it with any monitoring program ( Hwinfo64 will perferctly do the job ).
According to intel datasheet ( http://www.intel.com/content/dam/ww...datasheets/7-series-chipset-pch-datasheet.pdf )the max temperature ( Tjmax )is 108°C , and the catastrophic thershold is 120°C.

    Hope i helped

Hot PCH is common on Clevo's. It's still within spec though.

Well she is in and I have installed all my drives (2 MSATA and 2 2.5" SSD), this is in addition to the 1TB HD I had Mythlogic install in the optical bay. So far it's pretty nice. Haven't had the opportunity to put her through her paces yet. Few fit an finish things I'm not completely jazzed about (some of the body parts not seeming to meet up perfect) and the power button definitely leaves something to be desired. I have a couple software issues to work out as well (Sound Blaster Software says there isn't an audio device it can work with, and the back lighting keeps turning off).

Need to finish installing my dev software and some games and see how she runs to get a true idea how well I'll like it.

For whatever reason the back light was just turned all the way down, and the fn keys to adjust are backwards.

Sound Blaster software also is now working. I downloaded both it and the audio drivers from Sager and it now works.

Anyone play XCOM on these? I can get Enemy Unknown to work, but Enemy Within I can't click on anything, either with touch pad or mouse. The cursor just won't highlight anything.

    Windows 8.1 BTW.

Not really. I can't even start a game as I can't click on anything and the keyboard controls only get you so far. It's weird as the mouse cursor shows, it just doesn't highlight the buttons so I can click on them. Really weird since Enemy Unknown works, but Enemy Within doesn't. One post seemed to indicate disconnecting and reconnecting the mouse might fix it, but I can't physically reset the track pad and just disabling it didn't work either.

OK seems to be fixed now. Setting Windows 7 Compatibility did the trick. Strangely setting Administrator on the EW execaused the launcher to run EU even when EW was selected.

FYI, the XCOM issue seems to be that the game thinks there is a touch screen. With Windows 7 compatibility set I went in and set the interface to Mouse and game works fine now without compatibility mode set. I did try Touch mode on a Windows 8 tablet I have so not sure if this is an issue with Steam syncing files or something just with EW and Windows 8.1.

Got my machine loaded up with drives: Samsung Electronics 840 EVO mSATA 500GB as the boot drive, with Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5-Inch, and Samsung Electronics Samsung 840 512 GB SATAIII 2.5-Inch. I also threw in a 128GB mSATA Samsung drive I had from upgrading my Dell XPS 12. These were in addition to the 1TB drive I had Mythlogic put in the optical bay.

This was the main reason I bought this machine, crazy amount of storage in a notebook computer!

So I have been having a problem with shockwave flash player crashing, it started off only every once and a while and now it is getting worse (last time it happened it locked up my screen so that the only thing I could bring up was taskmanager but could not get to where you shut down (u know the dumb having to hover over the right side of the screen was not working), I have tried the common fix of disabling one of the flash players in chrome://plugins, I have tried shutting both down (while leaving the other running), and it seem's to work for a little while but then it starts again). DOes anyone have any idea'/s? it happenes the most when I am on the Major league baseball site watching virtual games>

    Hi.
I've been trying to play GTA 4 on my P150SM, with an AMD 8970M, but the FPS is very unstable, it goes low to 25 FPS and it is very frustrating to play.
I tried messing with game settings, but still no luck.

When i talked about my problem somewhere else, all i was told was that GTA 4 is poorly optimized for PC.
I have a nice laptop with a nice GPU, and i think there must be a solution of some sort, because i've seen people on the Internet with worse GPU's and getting a way better performance on GTA 4.

    Here's my P150SM configuration: i7 4700MQ, AMD HD 8970M, 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL9
The AMD GPU driver is 14.1 beta, but before this one i had the same problem.

I hope someone can give me a hand on this :)

so since the windows 8.1.1 update was released recently, it takes a lot longer to shutdown, wake from sleep, long delay in locking the laptop, and sometimes when loading into windows it just hangs on the desktop.

    Anyone else have these issues?

Just did, it didn't solve it.
Even if i lower the settings, the FPS i get are pretty much the same.

It's very awkward, because when i run the game benchmark i get 60FPS average.

Of course, i installed these ones "AMD Catalyst 14.4(14.200.0.0) Mobility SG. modded Driver (Enduro/PowerXpress Fix)".

Well, i guess i'll have to live with it.
If i can stand the "breaks" when fps goes down to 25, i guess we can consider this game playable.

Hi, wonder if anyone can help, I'm at a loss.

I have recently got a P157SM-A (870M) and have installed Windows 7 64-Bit Ultimate. I'm having an issue with Realtek HD Audio. Initially I had very low output on the headphone jack but installed the latest Realtek drivers and solved that.

I’ve got another audio issue with the headphone/speaker output jack (onboard sound works fine). When I lock windows using Windows+L (or Ctl-Alt-Del -> Lock Workstation) the sound output from the headphone jack stops working. I have tried unplugging the external speakers/headphones and plugging back in but there is still no sound (it still detects the jack has been plugged in / unplugged). If unplugged onboard sound works though.

The only way to restore the output is to either reboot or plugging/unplugging a USB device.

I found an updated Realtek driver through DriverAgent (version reported is 6.0.1.7209) but the issue is still present. Any ideas?

Edit: the driver I had previously was the latest from: Realtek

Have you tried fiddling with the speaker settings? Say go from headphones to 2.1 or vice versa.

Have any of you figured how to not hit the thermal cap on P150SM / GTX780m. Even with the backcover removed, I go up to 93c ... I have changed my pads with Phobya too.

Yes, tried everything. disable driver/re-enable. Change speaker config. Re-plugging the output jack. Nothing.

Update: Ok, I have reinstalled Windows from scratch installing the drivers one by one and found out its the Hotkey driver that caused the problem. The one I was given on the driver disk was ancient it appears 2.23.25, the newer one is 7.0026/7.00301 (I found on another site). So, the audio issue is now fixed but now the keyboard backlight control doesn't work with the bloody hotkey software. I've wasted so much time on this!

If I press Fn+/ to open the backlight app, the backlight turns off and nothing I do in the app changes it. If I close the app and press Fn+* to turn the backlight on it goes into 'breath' mode.

Update2: I uninstalled 7.00301 and installed 23.24.25 (from http://sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=driver_download2#), I can now control the backlight however my audio problem is back.

I did some investigation: when pressing Window+L an event is written to OutLog (part of PowerBIOSServer installed by the above) stating 'Log off'. It seems the app purposely is disabling audio. There is an app call InitHeadphone.exe in the hotkey folder under program files which if I execute it restores the headphone audio. It seems to me this app is called whenever switching between profiles to change the headphone 'mode' (have no idea where that is - part of SB XFi?). Anyway both these hotkey apps seem to be a pile of steaming s*t.

I am wondering though if the problem with the keyboard backlight is related to the hotkey 2.23.25 uninstall - I suspect it isn't being cleanly uninstalled perhaps causing a conflict with the other version.

Can anyone definately say which hotkey driver/app should be installed on P157SM-A?

Update: I have solved this. (For anyone else encountering this issue see below :)

    1. Hotkey 7.00XX doesn't work (for me at least - specifically the backlight controls) on P157SM-A. In addition, the backlight options are far more limited.
    2. Hotkey 2.2X.25 works fine with the exception of the audio issue. To prevent the hotkey software from messing with the audio controls / headphones rename the following file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Hotkey\hp.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hotkey\hp_DISABLED.dll.

    Hi !
If you changed your pad, i think you have already change you thermal past ^^.
You can add an aluminium foil between fan and radiator ( to make a better air duct, ).
and you can put some extra copper heatsink directly on the copper plate that cover the GPU.
