    How's it going around here!

I'm thinking of experimenting on my P150sm now it matured. I have the temptation to install K4000m/K5000m. I've seen some people on the Chinese forums with working cards but I have no idea whether the stock vbios will work..

Quadro cards work in the dual card machines without bios modifications so it interfaces with the EC ok.

As long as you're using a reference/Clevo card, it'll be fine. Dell/HP cards may need a flash.

Quadro cards are not made in the same place for clevo compared to the geforce cards I believe anyway. I'd avoid HP cards.

I apologize if there are other places to post these questions, but I just bought a Clevo P157SM yesterday (in the form of the Eurocom X3) which was configured with an R9 M290X and no OS (I installed my own copy of Windows 8.1 which I had)

The issue I seem to be having is that the dGPU light won't ever shut off. This is more of a minor annoyance, considering that I have checked with GPU-Z and can confirm that the dGPU is in fact shutting off, but I was still wondering if anyone had any ideas the reason why it is shutting off.

Could it be because I'm using an AMD card instead of an Nvidia, and the AMD Enduro technology just does not work in the same as Optimus in terms of what the dGPU does when idle, and thus the laptop does not consider it turned off?

No, I don't think I have, I guess I just assumed it was considering that I just got the computer, I'll update when I find it and whether or not it worked.

    Thank You

Update: I'm having some trouble finding a stock BIOS on the web, should I use one of the Prema BIOS mods?

Check it's an LVDS type connector and placed in the right place, if it is then it's a nice find.

Hey guys, looking to put an order in soon for the 8258/8268-S, and just had a question about the keyboard. My friend has the 9150 EM which from what I've seen has the same keyboard as the P-157 series, so wanted to hear from the owners on the keyboard, as I found that pushing down the keys don't go down nearly as much as those on other laptops, such as the w230ss and other styles where you can feel the keys going down.

Can anyone tell me if this is still the same issue with these?

If it's a question of being slightly small there are always the option of double sided tape and foam around the edge to make it sealed from leakage.

Hello guys I have my clevo for about a year now, but I'm having the same problem over and over again.

My ATI AMD Radeon HD 8970M 4GB doesn't perform good since I upgraded to windows 8.1 from windows 8.

Per exemple on League of Legends I played with 200 fps now I play with 80 max..

When I had windows 8 it was all great now its all bad, i think the problem are the drivers, the amd's CCC and the intel hd 4600 graphic drivers. I was reading about the same issue on some webistes and they all said that the only the intel on board graphic 4600 hd was performing and i dont know how or why my ati radeon wasnt being read...

At the moment i want to change back to windows 7 but the biggest problem here is that i cant find ANY clevo p150sm drivers for windows 7...

Can someone help me with this problem?

    Thanks,

    Dokkan

GPUs just became available at Sager the other day, nobody has been able to confirm as of yet as far as I've seen. Sager states it has yet to be tested for compatibility. Once we get some on hand to play with should be able to figure something out.

I was having the same issue as you. It turned out that the issue was that the "High Performance" power profile in the battery settings had the "Switchable Graphics" menu set to "Optimize performance" as opposed to "Maximize performance." After setting it to that, it fixed the performance issues.

Also, considering that you have the 8970m, I can assume you bought the laptop from Eurocom? If that is the case, they included a CD (it looks like a regular CD/R with a sticker that says "Windows 7 Drivers" on it) with the Clevo drivers for WIndows 7, it should be in the same plastic bag that the documentation came in.

That'd be the problem there, you need to enable it via the keyboard before the system will detect.

I got a Clevo P150SM-A from Pro-Star recently... it is a typical model, nothing fancy : i4810 CPU, 2x8Gb (regular, not CL9) RAM, 1msata + 1HDD (7200)... and Nvidia GTX870m/6Gb - and this card creates a lot of problems for me - when you switch your computer and NVidia drivers/software start to load the notebook goes berserk, fans start working full RPM and (I'd assume) thermal overheating (not real I guess, but rather what system "detects") makes notebook to start beeping loudly flashing 3 blue lights on the left side of keyboard... note that there is no overclocking of any kind and I even did not run any software yet that is really using the dGPU... now I might be able to live with fan (by throttling it manually down) - but it seems there is no way to eliminate the irritating beeping... checking temperatures with tools like Aida64, etc does not show anything abnormal.

I put Prema bios in - that reduces the problem somewhat (however it does not eliminate it completely)... the only way to get the notebook function normally is to disable dGPU in Windows 8.1 and stay with only iGPU (Intel HD 4600)... I am not playing any games (and not going to) and I am not interested in overclocking the system - I only need dGPU severa times a week for a raw converter (CaptureOne) - in Photoshop I can live w/o using dGPU (and it is not using it that much anyways)... so what are my options ?

is it a defective installation of dGPU or copper cooling system ?
is it a defective design by Clevo ? they are apparently not able to design something that will properly manage fans
is it a problem with nVidia drivers/software (the fan and beeping starts when they are loading during 8.1 boot - once I disable dGPU in Windows 8.1 - everything works like a charm)

now if I have Prema bios in the notebook is there a way to throttle dGPU down... I mean I OK if it will function with lesser performance for as long as it sill work w/o that noise.

PS: how do you people manage to live with *80m -series dGPU in your notebooks and using them for hours gaming at all ?

Not out of date, those are the latest officially supported. Manufacturers constantly push out new versions and it's impossible for manufacturers to test each version for each configuration of hardware possible and keep their pages up to date. The ones you get elsewhere aren't "guaranteed" to work. Typically not an issue, but that's why. You'd want to go to the specific hardware manufacturer of the device you want to update to get the latest.

Most drivers you can leave if you are having no issues anyway. Just keep the gpu drivers up to date.
