So could you screenshot the graph part of MSI afterburner showing clocks and throttle reason when it does this? (the little line graphs under the main window you were showing but the particular ones I meant, you can full screen the graph window after detaching it).

I think that is the time when it power limit itself. There is a steady line then suddenly the line goes down. Hopefully this is what you ask for

Ok so the GPU is going full idle, can you show the usage %, temperature and also check the CPU temp at that time?

I am not stressing out the laptop, and I only using medium settings in dota 2 so it barely pass 60c and GPU and CPU usage less than 50%.

One friend also said to me that my laptop power brick which is 180 watts does not compensate the power draw of its processor and gpu. Its processor is i7-4710MQ and GTX 980m. That is why I always get this power limit. That is what he said and now I am looking for your help with this problem.

If a light load was causing throttle then a heavy one would make the brick collapse.

You are obviously struggling to get the information that has been requested, I would talk to your reseller and see if they can remote on and see what might be going on for you.

Would be an example (in this case of having two GPUs) of how set out the graphs, filling the page (Just like is taught in maths, fill the page with the graph and avoid wasting space to make it clearer and more accurate).

A partner like below from XTU:

Over the same period as the GPU would give some insight over to what exactly going on.

At the moment all we know is it slows down occasionally.

    Hey all.
I currently have the P150SM, and I believe my battery has died. Where do I find replacements?

    Hey guys

    Saw a P157SM online for 500 USD

    i7 4900mq
    8GB RAM
    128GB SSD
    1TB HDD
    GTX 770m

How has this platform aged over time? Im thinking 500 is a pretty favorable price point but would love to hear your thoughts

    Thanks!

The stock 770M is pretty weak compared to modern GPUs.

Im rolling with a m5100 now, which is even weaker iirc

I can probably sell the 770m and get something else. Sell the m5100 as well, making it about a 300 USD investment for the 980m, if I went with that course of action. I dont need the m5100 in my m4600 since it will just be my plex server

Just wanted a platform that was rPGA and MXM 3.0b so I can upgrade it later.

I also have my y510p SLI with the eGPU adapter, I can probably sell that for 400 locally. Making this a minimal investment.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it.

Has anyone been able to install the 1070m on this platform or has no one tried it yet? I apologize if its been mentioned in the thread already

Is it possible to install 120hz displays on these or just overclock the panel?

    thanks guys!

Hey guys, I have a Clevo P150SM, it has been a very nice computer since I bought it. Only had to change the battery once since it wasnt lasting very long due to heat. Only that and repasting GPU and CPU, and installing an mSATA SSD is all I did, and it has been a beast machine. Howerver yesterday I returned from an examen and turned on the computer again to start studying for the next one. However in a few hours I noticed the battery icon was almost depleted (and thought for myself, 'WTF, hadnt I plugged it in?'). Apparently the PC is no longer receiving power from the power brick, but works fine on battery. However it received absolutely no DC current from the brick. Doesnt turn on without the battery and doesnt detect the brick being plugged in. I know its not from the cable that runs from the wall socket to the brick because I had another 10A kingcord from a working TV and tried it on the brick and still no current being delivered from the laptop.

I have ordered a multimeter on Amazon that I should get tomorrow to test the output of the power brick to see if the problem is the power brick or the DC cable, and if it isnt, I will tear the laptop apart and test the DC-in jack (which FYI is pretty hard to reach, you have to take apart most of the computer). Any recommendations on what to do or what to try here? Im pretty lost and only had those ideas that I will test tomorrow ASAP. Thanks in advance guys.

PD: Does anyone know the DC jack model of this laptop? Cant seem to find it in the P150SM diagrams, and I wanted to order it as soon as possible since if it is broken, it will take almost a month for the replacement jack to get here. Thanks in advance guys

    5.5*2.5mm center barrel.

Just be aware if you test the brick no load it may appear normal but if it falls off a cliff once loaded then it's the brick that's dead.

Does the battery charge when the machine is off with the brick in? If not have you tried another 19v PSU of the same tip (even if it's just say 90W) and if it charges the battery while off when the original does not then the brick is faulty.

I got the multimeter and tested this brick and 2 others. One from a less powerful Asus Pro laptop and another one from a table lamp that used a similar conector. All outputed the specified output voltages except the P150SM brick which sometimes gave a 0.20V output or less and most of the time just plain 0V. So I assume the brick is the fault here and there is no necesity to test the DC in in the laptop.

The working one is from the Asus Pro, the 0.00V one is from the Clevo P150SM.
    Images: http://imgur.com/a/EvmnH

PD: No, the machine receives no power from AC whatsoever. And I dont have any compatible tip righ now so I cant test other PSU :( I think it is pretty obvious that the brick is fault dont you think so? Would you recommend me doing any other tests or just directly ordering another PSU? I see they are around 50-70Dollars

If the brick is fluctuating at no load then it's a FAIRLY safe bet that is the cause.

Post any replacement you intend to pick up to ensure you order a quality brick.

I emailed this Coywood.co.uk about the http://www.coywood.co.uk/delta-adp-180nb-bc-charger-195v-92a-180w-58972-p.asp model which seems to be exactly the same model as mine, just with the UK plug which doesnt matter as my european plug works correctly. I emailed them to ask if they shipped to spain and at what cost. And if its no too expensive I think I will order from them, they seem reputable.

Please if you know any other seller that ships to Spain, I am open to advice.

Already purchased the PSU and I am waiting for it to arrive. However, I would like to repair the old PSU, as I happen to have in hand the necesary tools, however the problem is that I cant seem to find the PSU schematic for this specific model, the Delta ADP-180NB BC, where should I search for it? Or is there any possible way to get my hands on a copy by any means?

The best option is an internal 980M/1060 (with some work).

Hello everyone, it's been a long time since my last post here.

    I do have a Clevo p157sma premamod V2 1.03.11PM V2 with 4800mq and a Clevo (blue) gtx 970M 6gb with premamod v2 on it.

On project cars wich taxes heavily both cpu +gpu I do have throttling on my modded 970M once the card goes over 102w of power consumption Reported by hwinfo. Limit reason:gpu power, ocing it with just +50 +200 it throttles to 540mhz

This is with my cpu already capped at stock 27x undervolted to use only 23w otherwise it would throttle it too to 798mhz with limit reason: edp current if I remember correctly.

Is my psu dying? Or is it normal? I do have the same 180W delta wich someone was asking about.

Nvidia inspector doesn't let me undervolt the card to reduce the power consumption, just over volt.

Any ideas on what to do?
Thanks to everyone here helping each other!

I am the one with the dead PSU. Had to buy anotherone from an English PSU Reseller, it took me years tto find a seller which wasnt actually a shady guy selling FAKE psus from china. Well that might be the case, that your psu is dying, because in theory both the 8970M and your GTX 970M have the same tdp of 100w, and the i74700mq and i7 4800mq have the same tdp of 47w, and I have them both overclocked, specially the cpu which is undervolted and overclocked to the max, and I have the gpu at +50mhz, and I get no kind of power throttling, just thermal throttling if the cpu gets too hot but that doesnt happen often. If you have a multimeter in hand you can check the voltage and amperage the psu is outputting, if its the same delta psu as mine, it should be 19,5V and 6.2A.

Yes sorry, 19.5V 9.2A is correct, I accidentally read 6.2 instead of 9.2 lol. Yes my PSU is new, the old one has a shortcut somewhere and delta refused to provide the schematics so I could fix it. Shame of a company, the schematics for this particular model are nowhere to be found.

Schematics are everything basically for any company who makes anything, however providing individual users with the shchematics or part of them for self-repair should be even mandatory.

Sold my P157SMA to my brother and he will be happy to hear this news.

Was this plug in play or was some configuration needed?

Almost plug and play. Just need to modify VGA heatsink to match layout of 1070 card and use modded drivers that we provide. For 1060 card you just need to adjust thermal pads placement.

Not too bad all things considered, I had believed the best card for this platform was the 980m, told my brother the good news. Hes familiar with acquiring the modded drivers but he may be put off a bit on mdding the heatsink.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Hi P150SM owners

I brought my Clevo P150SM in October 2013 and I absolutely love this machine.
The purchase was done through a Danish reseller called MM-Vision and they named the model "X-Series X4585"

    • SPECS:
    GPU: GeForce GTX 780M
CPU: Intel Core i7 4700MQ (Haswell)
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4600 with a refresh rate of 96 Hz (overclocked from 60hz using CRU)
    Motherboard: P15SM (SOCKET 0)
    ME FW Version 9.0.20.1447
BIOS Version 1.03.05 (American Megatrends Inc. Version 2.15.1236)
    KBC/EC Firmware Revision 1.03.01

    • QUESTIONS:
    1. Will it be possible to swap out my GTX 780M for a GTX 980M?
    2. Is this the correct model "N16E-GX-A1 nVidia GTX 980M" and can it be found for cheaper than US $396?
    3. Will the current machine be able to recognize the new GPU.
    4. Is there some newer BIOS & Firmware that I should install.
    5. Not related to the other questions; is there a proper version of Hotkey for Windows 10? Last version I tried was 8.0150 and that was a very unstable experience and I ended up uninstalling it completely - but I miss being able to change the RGB color on the keyboard.

I have read the post on [null] "Upgrading Clevo P150SM from GTX 770m to GTX 980m" but that article is from March 22, 2015.
So I just wanted to be completely sure before I go out and invest in such an expensive mobile graphics card. It sounded like he had a lot of issues in the upgrade process.
    - Please feel free to ask me anything and hope you will help!

    Thanks!

Saw a 970m mxm jump up the other day for 250$. Snagged it. It comes in today but I do hope it's capable with my p157sm. It's an msi 3gb Version.

As far as I know it's very possible to upgrade to the 980m with some bios mods. At the same time I would recommend to go with a 1060 if you can't get the 980m for any cheaper than 400$. Some are 500-600$ us and although only 20% faster, they use less power.

Thats not too a price. I guess you mean compatible? I'm sure it will work, might need a vbios flash first though.

I'm still hoping to get another 8970M at some point (€400), I'm scared to get a 1060 in case it doesnt fit.

Ah, a 1060 would be best In my opinion as it means you don't have to worry about multi-card profiles. Were still a while off of the dx12 revolution comrade.

I do have 2 Dell 7970ms on hand if the 970m works.

A single 1060 would provide a vastly better experience overall than 8970M crossfire.

True that, honestly I don't even know if a 1060 would fit into my chassis. Also, they seem to be really hard to get hold of.

I wish the laptop cards more widely available.

Agreed, I don't doubt that for a second. The 10 series laptop cards aren't easy to get hold of.
