You need to match the display with the same connector as the cable.

i have both lvds and edp sockets on board, but my display is through the lvds, does that effect anything or can i just get an EDP cable and use it?

So long as the connector is there you should be able to use it IIRC.

Will an MSI 1070 fit into a p157sm? After sinking 500+$ into gpus I decided to sell off my 980m and 970m to buy a 1070.

Speaking of which, I need a resistor value for one of the resistors on an 970m MSI ms-1w0j1 if anyone has one on hand.

upgraded to a 1070, but i can't seem to get past the power limit on my card, it immediately goes down to .750v/1400mhz instead of being pushed to .925v/1800.

    Hi guys,

I desperately need prema bios for my P15SM clevo board. It's constantly overheating, average temp on CPU is 80C just with windows and not running anything else.

    Help??!!

Attempt to lap the heatsink made my CPU do 20c better. Do you have the copper or alum?

I don't want mess with the CPU and the heatsink, have no idea if is copper or alum. But I read the prema mod bios allows me to reduce the speed of the CPU therefore reducing the heat.

    Repaste the thermal adhesive.

You will not get premas bios unless you ask him directly, anyone who shares it without permission will never receive anything in the future from this community.

Your issues sounds like you need to do daily maintenance, given that you don't want to touch the internals at all it may be safe to assume that it's untouched since you got it.

Repaste thermal adhesive and then we can diagnose further. It's like 6 screws to do that.

A fan profile won't change any of that, nor would downclocking. It would only slightly improve thermals. For any tangible increase, replacement of thermal grease to something like mx-4, kryonaut, or something else would be the most beneficial. Consider cleaning out your fans and heatsinks as dust can build up and hurt cooling performance. Premas bios does nothing XTU can't, but I don't know why you would prefer gimped performance in exchange for something that is extremely simple and costs next to nothing. If it's really that much an issue take it to a repair shop and ask them to do it for you and show you how if they have any free time.

Search youtube videos on how to repaste your laptop to gain confidence to do it yourself. It is really easy.

First thing you should do is just remove fan and clean radiator fins. This step requires only a screwdriver. (I have used a vacum cleaner to suck the dust out)

Next I sugest you getting Gelid GC-Extreme and do the repaste.

    hello folks.

There is some massive windows update, and then... I deleted the windows.old

    Then this happened.

The problem? It took out my HDMI port. As in no matter what I do with the port, (switching cables) it just won't detect connection from my HDMI.

Other laptops connecting to the projector using the same cables work fine though. No problem on that front.

    Help?

If you're talking about NVIDIA (the geforce experience and the other nvidia program that came bundled with the Nvidia Experience), that's the one.

Unless there's another driver that I'm missing out?

    Hi All,

I presently have a P150AM-A with 2x 8GB RAM sticks installed. I'm considering adding more RAM into my machine. Is it ok to just add one 8GB RAM stick for now or is it recommended to add the new RAM in pairs?

    Thanks.

Remove the fan and check if there is dust buildup.
Next get a good thermalpaste (Gelid GC-Extreme) and repaste your cpu and gpu.

If possible, 2 sticks of 8GB. I don't think the model supports the operation of two sticks on dual and another on single. (I forgot what is the name of the term)

Ty, i've removed the dust from the gpu and cpu fan.. Now the laptop is going better.. But maybe, the worst problem isn't solved..
I think that the driver Crimson had been set to limit fan speed at 30% by default. I downgraded my driver to catalyst omega 14.12, but i've the same problem.. How can remove the fan speed limit? With afterburner or speedfan i don't have the control of the fans.
    Here the thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/3ua7xj/psa_crimson_will_lock_your_fan_speed_when/

Use DDU to remove any traces since you have an ongoing issue between versions.

Hmm. The DVI slot (at least the mini DVI slot) isn't working too. Somebody offered me the cable so that it can connect to a HDMI cable.

    No dice.

So HDMI and mini DVI.. Dead.

I can't help but to feel somewhat ominous

Was this a dual link display or single link you were using? The port on the 150em onwards is single link so up to around 1920x1080.

I don't understand the question. I used a DVI to HDMI converter, and a HDMI cable to connect to a projector / TV. On windows 10, I press "duplicate" screen.

But nothing happens. When I click "detect" screen, it says it doesn't detect any other screen.

DVI has two modes, single link and dual link. Single link goes up to 1080p 60hz. What is the TV/adapter expecting?

Yes, I believe so. Because another laptop could connect and project 1080p resolution.

But out of curiosity (because I don't know anything about it).

How does it matter if the projector doesn't support 1080p?

    sorry to post,

has anyone tried the latest OBSIDIAN driver tool?

There's not any P150SM-A (and I doubt there will ever be), but does anyone know what set of drivers would be the closest to the P150SM-A (as in the p150 family?)

The p150sm was the last in the series. The p650 series was the spiritual successor but it is a different chassis entirely.

    I see. Thanks.

I was thinking / contemplating to either
    a) just go on with the nagging errors,
    or
    b) attempt a "refresh but keep my files" format feature that was built in with Windows 10 and see if it solves the issue.

But the drivers won't probably work (because they were meant for windows 8 / 7 in the first place, and they're severely out of date.

Things like the chipset drivers can be updated from Intel. Windows 10 has likely already updated them however.

Hi there. Thanks for info. I took the plunge by pressing "refresh but keep my files", since most of my stuffs are in D:/ and E:/ and only the Windows is in C:/ (ssd)

For some odd reason(s), it updated itself (at least what I can infer), but for drivers I did nothing. The HDMI and the DVI port still refuses to work, but oddly enough, the WiFi (the model I had came with an Intel, not Killer) was able to "project wirelessly", something which wasn't possible before. So I guess despite the tradeoff, I'll use the wireless projection for now. Hopefully that doesn't get broken too.

g'day guys - i own an Australian Clevo p150SM branded Metabox laptop and it's been good to me.

    It's got a still respectable gtx780M 4GB GDDR5 kepler MXM.

I recently updated the nvidia drivers to the latest given it's reported "association" with potential vulnerabilities while conducting a full reformat, thisis the first time i've done it since I bought the machine a good few years ago.

And then I came across this forum while searching for up to date drivers for windows 10 because admittedly clevo's kinda slack in that department right along with metabox.

It is then that i read that clevo based nvidia MXM gpu required a special way to update the drivers which I've gone through and it's elabporate.

Thing is - i've already updated it by the usual download and update via nvidia website and the system is not throwing any form of errors?

I've gone past my gaming days so i haven't tested any games but i did do a passmark test and also futuremark(all basic free versions) and no errors came out.

Since it sounds like Clevo nvidia GPU MUST follow the instructions (which i did not) - what should I do now? everything is fine at the moment but i suspect that's because it's on the igpu. I've swapped it to the dGpu to play some videos and there was no errors while i do notice a spike in heat via coretemp so that to me infers that the switch to the 780m works.

Any tips/suggestions will be appreciated. currently on the latest nvidia driver installed the normal way

It's always left to the video card vendor to release updates due to how many versions are released. No special update method should be required for the stock cards.

well what i meant was updating nvidia drivers for the gpu - it seems like i'm supposed to make a few adjustments for any driver update released by nvidia for it to work on my gpu
