    Good day,

Anyone having trouble with diagonal syncs lines when playing ?

it somes in some of my games like the Final Fantasy 13 series, Wolfenstein Old Blood

its kinda annoying, tried all the settings already unplayable unless i turn off vsync but theres still some diagonal lines but more minimal compared to when v-sync is on.

Already tried forcing vsync on in Nvidia control panel, still the same result, fullscreen, borderless, windowed still the same.

    Any help would be appreciated

which nvidia driver are you using? you could consider dropping back to the stock driver listed on sager's site and see if it still continues to do it.

I've ordered a Acer Predator G9-591 (6700HQ, 16GB RAM & 970M), but I'm having seconds thoughts after peeking more at the P640RE. The P640RE is a lot better looking, seems to be fantastic to maintain/repair and has a vibrant community (76 page thread compared to a 4 page thread, wtf!).

However, the battery time is really really putting me off. Are there any third party options with more power? Does anybody know if Clevo looking to address this issue in a later model? Did anybody else consider the 15" Predator before coming here? Even better, perhaps somebody tried them both. Boy, this isn't easy...

I can tell you the battery is pretty much the same thing on all Clevos. I don't know one that lasts unless it's a non gaming one maybe. I've never seen the acer one before. But that's because it wasn't 13-14". I prefer those profile sizes.
However tho if you was going to get an acer then get it with 980m. That's just me. But I'm personally looking for new models of 13-14" with pascal now. I did order the p640re. But cancelled in the past week of April because I knew the release of pascal was much closer than I initially thought.
But should you opt for the clevo. You will surely be involved with a huge thread with lots of useful information from very intelligent guys on here.

Thank you for your reply! I suspect these Pascal cards will be mighty expensive for some time. I've got some budget restraints and got the Predator for ~1300€, which I think was quite a good price. The P640RE with 970M would be about the same price where I live though.

hey sisqo, i hate to tell you this but you might be waiting a while for pascal. considering nvidia only just announced it and the board partners getting it around that same time, your gonna be looking at a minimum of 4-6 months if not longer before we actually start to see notebooks with pascal. i would be genuinely surprised if clevo even has pascal in the P87x series before christmas rolls around.

Well based on the last two generations. I saw that the mobile version was announced 2-3 after the desktop. I know it will take time after thrn. But I'd imagine August latest for some mobile stuff. It might be longer though to get the 640re though. Although I have cancelled. I do own the w230sd so it can suffice me. I've already own the 970m twice. I guess I don't really need to purchase it again cos I like the note book. I'd lose about£300 to selling it and selling it fast with people only interested in pascal. I'd rather lose £100 in value on my current notebook for a few more extra months.
But back to the wait. Has the razer blades been released? I haven't receive the email for availability. They had it down for April and moved it back till end of then. But in guessing they are waiting for pascal. Which leads me to believe it's not that much far away as you think if they are doing that.

The 9 series certainly had a decent run, I bought two maxwells but they were different cores at least (though I did technically own 3 980Ms at one point I suppose).

So my NP8640-S just arrived [i7-6700HQ, 970m, 32gb ram (need it for work applications)]. Amazing and powerful laptop.

Wanted to get good habits from the start - how do you folks clean your laptop? Basically any general tips on type of cloth or products used to make this laptop continue looking shiny and black and the speaker grills free from accumulating dust?

one thing about the P641RE is that it is a fingerprint magnet. ya, its got the matte finish to it but your gonna see finger prints on it no matter what. i usually use a microfiber cloth to keep it clean. with regards to keeping dust out of the speaker grills, a quick shot of canned air usually does the trick.

Micro fibre cloth and if the screen gets particularly dirty then a mildly moist (water only) cloth.

ya, there are the two screws then you need to slowly pop it off around the sides. best way to achieve this is to use you fingernail and lift up on the inside edge of the bezel. just be careful to not put any pressure on the LCD as your doing this as it could cause damage.

Hello, is the bios mod ready yet? If not - could a small donation speed things up a bit?

I am personally interested in the feature to disable the internal Nvidia GPU in BIOS instead of using buggy software such as Bumblebee (i use Linux). I had some notebooks with GPU selection (Intel/UMA graphics vs Optimus graphics) in BIOS and I'd like to have the same feature in my new shiny Clevo.
    Is it possible?

    Cheers

you could definately reach out to sager regarding it. warranty transfer is kind of a tough one to answer, in most cases the warranty wont transfer on used items mainly because they don't know the actual state of the system during that private sale, but i do know of some manufacturers who make exceptions.

I'm guessing that Clevo would probably tell you to talk with the reseller (RJ Tech in your case), as they are the ones honoring the warranty and not Clevo directly. You could see what they say, it doesn't hurt to ask.

UPDATE: Just got my laptop back from the manufacturer. Technician said "M/B faulty no internal or external display no post." There were no motherboards in stock so they built my specs into a new chassis. Whole process took about a month incl. weekends but I'm happy to just get it back (~4 days delivery to them, 2 weeks in repair, 4 days to get the laptop back).

    Thanks PCSpecialist!

your running windows 10? double check and see if the correct drivers are installed from realtek, also grab the latest ones from RTK's site. in regards to the resume issue.... thats kind of a tough one to troubleshoot, any number of things could be causing that.

Sounds like your boot settings were not happy (memory is usually the culprit). If you did not change them they could have got corrupted.

Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I've been extremely satisfied with my NP8640 over the past month, but yesterday when I opened the screen past 90 degrees the backlight cut out. Closing the display a little below 90 degrees brought the backlight back on. After pushing it open again I verified that the display itself was still working fine by shining a flashlight on it; I was able to barely see the Start menu open and close when I hit the Windows key. Applying gentle pressure to the lower left of the backside of the laptop lid caused the backlight to flicker on and off as well. I came to the conclusion that the backlight cable must have gotten pinched.

Tonight I pulled up the bezel to take a look, and sure enough a portion of the cable had been pinched by the hinge and crushed against the bezel. I moved the cable slightly so that it would no longer get pinched, but unfortunately the damage has been done and it will need to be replaced.

I was planning on asking Sager to send me a replacement cable but I can't seem to find a service manual for this system anywhere. Is there one floating around somewhere? All I could find were user manuals on Clevo's site.

even though its a fairly straight forward process to replace the cable, sager might still require you to send it back to them for service to ensure its done properly under the warranty. im kind of in the same boat on that as well, my display has a line of bad pixels (approx 10-15) along the center left edge and even though im a skilled service tech they may not allow me to do my own lcd replacement. only thing i can suggest is to reach out to them and see what they say.

just out of curiosity, did you buy direct from sager or through a 3rd party?

I'll put in a support request tonight. Hopefully they'll consider it a simple enough repair that they'll send me a replacement cable and let me do the work without voiding my warranty. I'd really prefer to not send it in for repair since I use it for work; the turnaround time would be inconvenient to say the least.

I bought it through XoticPC with the standard warranty. My old NP8660 hasn't had any problems besides a dead CMOS battery that I replaced without a problem, so I'm unfamiliar with how XoticPC and Sager handle warranty claims. Good luck with your LCD replacement!

zacwhite15 is correct on that. Just reach out to our support team, or reach out to me directly if I can help with anything. You don't need to know the specific part model for it. We would generally just ask for your order number and/or serial number on the computer to look in to that for you.

I'm sorry to see that you are having issues with the computer, but just reach out to us and we will be glad to help out.
