I'm not 100% sure, and couldn't find it in a manual. Maybe a CMOS clear?

It's a test button used to power the board and check USB power delivery to make sure everything is ok before putting it in a machine.

Is motherboard compatible with Kingston Hyperx CL13 modules such as HX421S13IB/16 (or 2x kit HX421S13IBK2/32 )?
Is there any noticeable performance increase versus "stock" (manufacturer recommended) Micron CL15 modules ( CT16G4SFD8213.16FA1 / 16ATF2G64HZ-2G1A1 )?
    Both run on 2133 MHz

Yes, any 2133mhz will be fine, 2400mhz also works and offers a speed bump. It's the cherry on top of any setup to get the final couple of percent out of it.

We have yet to encounter a chip which can't manage 2400Mhz. It's running it a bit above spec, a bit like desktop board manufacturers making all cpus do max turbo with all cores and not just one.

Could you please post a screenshot from CPU-z or similar program to confirm that 2400 MHz memory is compatible with i7-6700HQ?

OKay then, could you please suggest something better than Kingston HX424S14IBK2/32 (2400 MHz, CL14), preferrably CL13?

For some odd reason BF4 is giving my CPU a hard time..My temps are fine on any other game, but regardless of setting my temps just skyrocket to worrying temps...Anyone else experience(d) the same issue?

is it hitting those temps when you have the fans on max or automatic? i have noticed that it peaks around 90+ when under a super heavy load if i don't have the fans maxxed.

one thing that would help with those high temps would be undervolting. i had mine bumped down to -150mv and was peaking at about 70C under load with handbrake (maxxed fans). only downside is your going to have to use XTU to do this and then assign the handbrakeCLI to a profile to achieve that. with regards to making those changes in the bios i did recommend to sager that in future bios updates we have that ability enabled along with the ability to enable Pstates (which is disabled by default) so we don't have to deal with that pesky little bug that limits the CPU to 1.6GHz on battery.

Indeed, BF4 murders the CPU... Absolutely wrecks it... However, I do love the game and have played 650hours of it :D

Is it possible to install SIM card slot manually or does it have to be soldered at the factory?

I don't think I've seen anybody talking about adding that slot by themselves afterwards. I'm not sure if it has all the connections on the motherboard or not that you could solder one down or not. Have you looked at yours internally to see if looks possible first?

No, i did not check the other side of motherboard. Surely I'm not going to solder it myself.
As far as i understand most (or all) clevo resellers provide the model without SIM card slot, right?

No the slot should be there default. If you order without. Your just not going to receive wwan card required to get it working. You should also see the antennae that is not connected so you can attach it when you had a wwan card.
In my clevo w230st and w230sd. They both came configured without but the antennae was still there so all I had to do is buy a wwan card if I really needed. There's 3G version and 4g version.

as much as i wish sisqo_uk was correct the slot is actually not there by default. unless its ordered direct from clevo with the M.2 option included in the specs its just going to be a blank spot on the pcb. you still have the pads but to get that function your going to have to manually solder the M.2, then somehow enable it in the bios. (which by default that option is hidden)

the way it designed is the WWAN card sits directly underneath the battery and then you would also need the cables for the antannae. basically, unless sager wants to offer the notebook with this option pre-included were SOL.

Is it Sager NP8640 on photo?
I found that some Schenker XMG P406 models have SIM card slot installed. But I think there is either M.2 SSD or M.2 WWAN as clevo website says.
Will check it myself and post a reply later.

I haven't seen one of these laptops under the hood in person but I haven't seen like yours with the missing part of board. I ordered one but cancelled to wait for refresh potentially. I just knew the slot was there. And having seen reviews I thought it was standard. The oddest part of how it is for you is. What if you wanted to add the m.2 ssd after. So you just got one drive for 2.5"?

Edit. I've looked at pictures again. I see you m.2 ssd. So the wwan part of the board is "snapped off" if you like?

I've added a pic of another board but the battery covers the area. But it appears to have the green board underneath it. Does yours have that also?

Correct. I do not believe any of the Clevo models brought into the USA, and branded by the Custom Builders, have the SIM card support.

I didn't think that was so. So I guess my answer is valid. A long as your in Europe then.
That sucks cos I didn't think clevo was like that. I only thought major brands ace biased configs

It's an option resellers are free to choose or not, due to lack of demand most in this country do not. It's more of a desired one in certain regions.

meaker, tbh i kind of wish it would have been considered as an option from sager. because i do tend to travel internationally and having that feature would have been a god send on my last trip to the philippines.

True. I do that when my internet is playing up. Unfortunately for me I'm on pay as you go using 3G only but have achieved a bit above 20meg in some places which was nearly as high as my friend on 4g hitting 24meg.
On the plus side. It's only £20 for every 6 months for unlimited internet usage. Which is £3.33 a month. That's the only time I top up. Just twice a year lol.

ya, hard part is intl data is SUPER expensive, and over in the PH contracts are so expensive that its cheaper to get prepay. plus, with the exorbitant amounts carriers charge here to have "tethering" it its a pain.

on another note, @meaker, what would it take to get sager to work with someone like prema to develop a custom firmware for the P640RE? something that has undervolting, P States, enabling/disabing VT-d, etc avail to change. cause these would be extremely beneficial to users of the P64x especially in regards to things such as battery life, longevity, and even lowering the heat output.
with the current firmware configuration i feel like the P64xRE, being the wonderful machine that it is, is neutered by the lack of options in the bios.

It would need to be Prema working as an official agent of Clevo/sager development. Clevo has the skills to expose any options they wish as they build the BIOS.

@meaker, i just recently got my notebook back from you guys and i noticed its running the 1.05.08RLS1 bios (board was replaced), i have noticed this bios is blocking me from making ANY adjustments in XTU. i can't even play with my memory timings like i used too. are you guys aware of this? i didn't have the issue when i was on 1.05.07 build.

    Good day,

I just recently landed in Sydney to study. Ordered my Sager from US to Philippines around 5 months ago i think?

When i got here i charged my laptop its okay. The next day the charger isnt working. Laptop is okay. Tested the 180w PSU with multi tester and its not working.
Could i get a replacement for it? I really need it next week cause classes is starting.

    any help would be appreciated.

you can call them at (800) 741-2219 or you can shoot them an email: [email protected]

best of luck getting your system fixed.

Yes, contact us, the PSU has a shorter window of support (1 year vs 2 years if you are on new standard 2 year warranty from November) than the machine so get in touch as quickly as possible.

We also have spares for sale if a second would be handy.

You could try contacting local clevo sellers. Otherwise it is a standard 180W 5.5x2.5 mm barrel type (center live) at 19V (19.5V is fine too).
