Worth re-seating all the easy devices as well such as ram and storage.

Hello, first post and complete numbskull when it comes to tech but I somehow ended up looking at Clevos and here I am. Would appreciate some advice. Looking at the 650RE for Photoshop, no gaming to speak of so I understand this may be overkill for photo editing. I have a 512gb Samsung XP941 and am wondering how to optimally fit it into the 650RE. In Australia so looking at metabox. Their options include the Samsung 950 pro for ssd drive 1 so it appears the XP941 will be ok in that slot and that it would be ok for operating system? They have a list of options for HDD ranging from 500gb HDDs through Hybrid drives to Samsung evo 's and pros. Question is if I am using that drive solely for photos and music files is it worth going ssd, hybrid or will disc drive do the job nearly as well? Or of course is there better way or system to use my existing xp941? Any advice much appreciated. (I bought the xp941 to upgrade the sony vaio pro but have decided I want to ditch it)

Oh and incase anyone was wondering. This keyboard cover ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/272058295158) and this laptop skin ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Laptop-Carb...653RG-S-P653RE-S-P650RE-P650RG-/272125092548?) work perfectly. I would recommend a textured skin like Carbon Fiber. I got the smooth matte and it picks up oil stains from the skin a little too easily but otherwise it fits perfectly, only thing better is XoticPC's custom wrapping service but that's a little expensive for my tastes. Hope this helps out you guys. I'll upload pictures later.

Not a noob question at all.

If you out a NVMe drive in there, then you can't use the second slot. It is either one PCIe/NVMe drive, or two Sata m.2 slots (raid configuration or not, your choice). two PCIe/NVMe drives.

Clevo's site has it mentioned this way:

    • Expand to MAX. two NGFF(M.2) SATA SSD or one PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD

Is there a reason we can't use the second slot at the same time?
Is the bandwidth shared across both slots?

Can't access Nvidia CP saying I'm not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU but I checked and there's no cable that has been unplugged. I tried DDU and reinstalling driver but to no luck. Anyone here who encountered the same problem?

I'm guessing that you have to enable dedicated graphics in the bios? Try that.

One question can anyone tell me how to remove gpu heat sink for re-pasting in p651re? These heat sinks are connected to the fans or can be removed separately with these only 4 screws?

Hi, I am currently getting this laptop and I was wondering if anyone has a file for the original BIOS? I would be interested to help with BIOS modding, because no one has, even Prema. I want to start early so that I can get the best possible experience out of my laptop as soon as I get it.

I am familiar with BIOS modding and know how to use MMTool to mod Aptio BIOSes. I've been successful at unlocking advanced menus on someone else's Asus Aptio BIOS.

To help out, I would like a backup of your Sager BIOS -- use this tool here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/9856-Universal-BIOS-Backup-Toolkit
Once you get the file, either attach it here or share your cloud storage link to it.

I will extract it and report any results that I find.

Have you tried reaching out to where you purchased the computer? I would think they should be able to get that BIOS file for you.

Thank you for the advice. I actually did not know you could ask Sager for the file, unlike with other companies I've worked with in the past.

Good point Meaker@Sager. I will ask as soon as I get my laptop.

    I'm so excited :D

It isn't listed on their site under the support tab, like the drivers and other utilities are. But Sager support, or support from your reseller can get that for you if you just ask.

Those temps are a bit too high.. I would repaste with some good Gelid GC Extreme thermal paste and put on some good thermal pads like Phobya XT pads... A $20 undertaking which will extend the life of your laptop for quite a bit.. 80C is a bit too high for a GPU IMO...

Yes, it's also a limitation of the mobile chipset.. Desktop Z170 doesn't have this limitation so P771DM can use 2 of these SSDs...

I can get the temps respectable if I put fan from auto to max. Will those fans last years at max speed unlike regular fans or will it die and need replacing sooner?

It's not recommended to run the fans at max all the time, but for gameplay sessions they should be ok.

It should not be required to max the fans at stock even during gaming at stock yes, if you are having trouble doing so call your reseller.

Or you could try n NVRAM reset.

Remove the CMOW battery and disconnect the laptop battery for 2 minutes, then power the laptop on a few times with the batteries still disconnected. Then reconnect everything and power on. First power up should take a while but it may resolve your issue.

Hi guys, been lurking on this forum for a while, waiting for my p650rg-g to arrive. It finally came the other day, and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

My laptop has one annoying issue though... whenever I wake the laptop from sleep mode, it goes back to the desktop screen and freezes; then after around 3-4 seconds it restarts itself.

I initially thought it was doing this because I undervolted my cpu by -150mV (it runs perfectly stable playing games and doing stress tests on this voltage), however I went back to the default voltage and it still occurs.

I've unplugged everything from the laptop to rule out any external device issues. I've also got the latest drivers installed.

The laptop is in plugged in when this happens (does the same thing unplugged), and the power setting is on high performance - I don't allow the HDD to sleep.

Has anyone else had this issue? It happens every single time the laptop comes out of sleep mode and I'm running out of ideas.

There's a public holiday on Monday in Australia so I won't be able to contact Metabox (clevo reseller) until Tuesday, so I'd like to resolve this by then. Thanks!

Usually wake on sleep issues are driver related, have you tried updating them? Usually chipset/VGA (don't forget the intel if not in dedicated only mode).

I downloaded & installed all the Windows 10 drivers here http://metabox.com.au/drivers.asp (Model p650rg).

The laptop is in dedicated only mode, however I did also install the internal vga driver too..

Do you think it's worth a shot to re-install them again?

Edit: On an unrelated note, can someone confirm what the max refresh rate is meant to be on this laptop? Mine's 60Hz, but I thought I read somewhere that it can go up to 75.. thanks.

60hz on this model, but you can try out overclocking the panel in dedicated mode if you like. I would get the latest drivers from intel and nvidia.

Have tried it like 20 times and it wakes from sleep perfectly each time, cheers for the advice Meaker!

hey guys I really need help on my p650 re3 . I recently upgraded its ram to fill all slots and only slots 3 and 4 work (back panel) but not slots 1 and 2 (under keyboard) I contacted Sager and they said I need a BIOS update and so I ask here after searching for hours for a safe BIOS update from Sager that I can't find anywhere.

Just got the this machine and it says on it and under that it's the model with G-Sync and also on it but I can't find the option in the "Nvidia Control Panel".
Basically I only have "3D settings" and not the other menus, so only 3 options in total.

Am I missing something simple here or is it just always enabled per default?

It'll only show if you set the laptop in the bios to use the dedicated video card. Right now your laptop is in hybrid mode (Intel / Vida). Scroll back to the thread, I think you'll find some screenshots.

I figured it was something like that. So it can only be used if set to "dedicated" and not "mshybrid" or is it used either way?
