We don't keep a lot of extra stock as we don't add the margins that allow some to do stock clear downs. So around launches etc availability can fluctuate.

Looks like the W key is sticking when I play videogames for extended periods of time. Any solutions? I have a P650RE3.

Complain to reseller and get them to send you a new keyboard. Or RMA it.. Best to get it replaced under warranty before something more breaks in the keyboard..

Also, any time a problem comes up you might be able to troubleshoot it if it is a software based issue, and it doesn't hurt to have some kind of ticket logged with your seller in case it happens again in the future.

But if it is sticking, you could see if there is anything that needs to be cleaned out under the key (use some compressed air maybe). But I agree, you might want to check in to a replacement.

I'm kind've scared to replicate it since I need the W key for coding but I did contact Larry over at LPC Digital and he's wokring on getting it taken care of. Basically whenever I play an intensive game (most recently Earth Defense Force) as the laptop heats up the W key begins to intermittently work. First it "sticks" for a little bit but after continued use it sticks for longer and longer periods of time. Last time I played ( A few days ago) it refused to work all together for a few minutes. I verified it was a hardware issue by leaving EDF and attempting to type with the key in Notepad while the laptop was running hot and it's happened across multiple games. I did research the issue a little and noticed that other people were having similar issues to varying degrees on this forum. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/keys-get-stuck-while-playing-games.789793/ and reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/techsuppor...starclevosager_p650se_overheating_how_hot_is/

Have the P650RE3 15.6" screen models been discontinued? I can no longer find them on resellers or Sager's site.

anyone noticed that the p650 model don't have vrm heatsink?

most other laptop manufacturer cover these with a heatspreader integrated to the main heatsink with thermal pads

Yeah, the VRM is over designed so the airflow from the fan is more than enough.

So I just got my shiny new NP8657 a couple of days ago and so far I love it! But I heard it just got discontinued... Should I be concerned? Was it a bad choice? I bought it thinking Pascal was potentially months out and I couldn't really wait anymore.

Okay fair enough! I kinda knew what I was getting into when I purchased it, but I think Pascal is driving me nuts. :p

Has anyone experienced a black screen that wouldn't turn on again? Last night the LCD turned off after not using it for a bit, as it should. But it wouldn't turn on again after pressing keys or using the fn+f# to switch displays. The system was still on, though. I had to press the power button to get back to the lock screen and that did it. This seems weird though...

so the vrm design is very strong compared to other laptops, that's why even airflow only is enough to stop overheating?

It's twice the capacity of the 970 and 980 mxm cards (with like for like gpu) and sits right next to the fan. Covering it would probably be worse.

If the VRM's is covered on top, the air circulation around them can be a problem. + the internal design isn't good enough for this.

A copper heatsink with very thin fins might help if it was an issue, but it really should not be unless you start jamming the entire chassis with ramsinks and destroying the internal airflow.

Right, there is a balance between adding in added heatsinks on the right places, but not killing airflow and making it worse.

In advanced options in bios <cpu configuration> At least if you have Prema's unlocked bios. And why bother with this so called feature?

The bios that comes with my unit doesn't have that setting. I can't find any bios updates from the Clevo website either.

Why speed shift? I read that it's supposed to make Skylake processors run snappier. I was just thinking, if it's there, why not make use of it. That said, I guess I can live without it since I'd rather not take the risk with flashing into a modded bios.

Guys I frequently get BSOD due to SynTP.sys which I assume is the touchpad. The error is irql_not_less_or_equal. It's driving me crazy cuz it keeps happening when I'm playing Overwatch online. I don't even use the touchpad for gaming, and it crashes even when the touchpad is disabled (not driver but by pressing Fn+F1).

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I've tried various different drivers but they all cause it :(

If it is like a majority of us, the problem isn't necessarily the touchpad itself but the Clevo Control Center. You can uninstall CCC but you will lose out on functionality unfortunately.

I'm not sure if this is a Windows issue, or something with my laptop. I have a P650RG, through Xidax. Awesome laptop by the way. After the Windows 10 anniversary update, it appears that some startup programs, Sound Blaster and Realtek specifically will not startup if the AC adapter is plugged in. Unplugged, they start up fine. Not a huge deal, as I can power on without the adapter connected, then plug it in. Just a weird little quirk I have found. Anybody got anything similar. Before the Anniversary update, this was not an issue.

Just a followup on my own question. Everything seemed very buggy. I was able to get it to start multiple times while plugged in with all of my startup programs working. However, it then started doing the same things again. I ended up clean installing windows. Everything is all good now. Was probably an issue on my end. I can't help it, I edit the registry, and anything else I can access. So was probably my fault.

Yes, they did have an updated version of it at Computex. Both 15 and 17 inch models were there or mentioned at least in the pictures from their booth.

Hello guys ... I'm really interested in buying this laptop from pc specialist (it's called defiance II 15.6") but I wanted to ask if anyone might be so kind to illustrate the drawbacks that I would face if I bought this laptop now instead of waiting for the new pascal architecture (when?). I configured this laptop with 6700hq, 970m (6gb vram) and 8gb ram (no hdd or ssd and no os) for 1190 euro and I have a 500 euros discount that expires 31th august (it would cost me 690euros).

So I want to ask you what would you do if you were in my shoes? do you think that the new pascal laptops will come out before the end of august ? if I buy this one will it be upgradable? Also I try to configure every kind of gaming laptop and i found out that pc specialist sells always about 200euros cheap that the other resellers .. is there any particular reason? are the trustworthy ?

Oops looks like the Clevo site is leaky as a sieve:
    http://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_prodetail.asp?id=942&lang=en

    Notable things:
    • 2x USB 3.1 Type C but still no Thunderbolt3. WHY CLEVO?!
    • Pascal "Enthusiast" card? 1070 probably.
    • Official support for 2666mhz XMP profile
    • Optional RGB Keyboard (pictured)
    • Sabre hifi DAC
    • AC Adapter is now 230W. Maybe the new gen Pascal cards are going back to the 120W spec?
    • Mini-DP ports are 1.3 now so physical outs are upgraded (4K@120hz or 8K@60hz)
    • 1 extra USB port (the 3.1 Type C above).
    • Headphone/SPDIF have been combined into a single combo port. IMO this is a great idea (leaves microphone separate for those who don't have 3-pole converters).
    • Line-out where SPDIF used to be

Most USB 3.1 connections "technically" run at their full 10gbps. Problem is, they're all bound to the chipset which is funnelled back to the CPU via DMI. So any decent file transfer or access that requires going through to the CPU will get bottlenecked with all the other chipset bound devices (including other usb, M.2/SATA, M.2/PCIE etc).

So I've been reading through this thread a bit. I'm looking to pick up a Clevo/Metabox P650RG-G soon although with the news of the possibility of pascal coming to mobile soon I am not sure whether to wait or just go through with this purchase since it is a bit of an investment (I am likely to go through with the purchase within the next few days).
The model I am looking at would use the following:
    1080p LG IPS Gsync display
    Nvidia 980m
    i7 6700hq
    16gb ddr4 ram
Intel 540s 240gb M.2 SSD (Is it worth looking at the samsung ssd instead?)
    1tb 7200rpm HDD
(Is it worth picking the killer wifi, as it doesn't cost much more)

And yeah that's about it. Mainly looking for a powerful laptop to take around with me and be able to game on for a few years to come. (I'm big on RTS games in particular).
If the 980m will keep me going at 1080p for a while to come then I'll stick with that. Unless pascal is bringing much better battery to the table or performance that'll actually make a diff at 1080p.
Also one more question. How is the battery life for any others here who own this or a similar model for things like browsing or office use?

It came up in the Pascal discussion thread that AVA Direct has listed the new "Clevo P650RS-G" for sale. At $1579, the base specs include:

15.6" screen with 1080p resolution, but 4K is an option too. It comes with G-sync.
    GTX 1070 GPU (8GB GDDR5 VRAM)
Intel i7-6700HQ CPU, but i7-6820HK is also available
    8GB RAM, up to 64GB
1TB 5400RPM HDD, with two empty M.2 slots and an empty 2.5" bay - probably can't use them all at once

Edit: The page has been taken down. The page is up! I configured one with 16GB RAM, a 500GB 850 Evo SSD in an M.2 slot, a 1TB HDD with speed upgraded to 7200RPM, and Windows 10. The price came out to $1898.

Yes the z170 chipset only has 4x pci-e 3.0 bandwidth to deal with total as everything does have to go through the CPU.

You're right! The page is up, not sure why I couldn't see it for a short time last night. No real benchmarks yet for the GTX 1070 mobile version that I'm aware of, just rumors.

If I were to change my wifi card, what would you recommend? The reason is because I think my current card isn't good because whenever I'm outside the house, my laptop won't get any signal but my girlfriend's Macbook Pro can.
