Are those the latest ones? Because I kind of delete my backup drivers from your website to download Clevo's

Hi guys. I always have weird issues with my display drivers. For example the nvidia only sees the HDMI display (I mostly have the HDMI plugged into my amp -> TV) and the Intel only sees the internal display. And then weird things happen like when it boots up, the login screen only shows up on the HDMI display and my TV is off, so I have to turn the TV on, then login, and then it switches over to the laptop screen. There are also weird issues with games.

So I'm wondering, what is the best combination of driver versions to use for the Intel and nVidia where everything works happily? The ones on my vendor site (PC Specialist) are really really old so I want to use up to date drivers but also the ones that are the most compatible. I've tried the drivers from Sager, Clevo, as well as the latest ones directly from Intel/nVidia, and while they all work fine, I still have these weird issues.

What happens if my power supply can't handle my voltage usage? I've been experiencing black screen but everything is still running. I would then press windows + d then alt + F4 to restart my laptop. The reason I asked about the power supply is because I have many peripherals connected to my laptop. Although this problem only started recently, I also feel like my machine is slower than usual

Usually under high stress the system would shut down or on the desktop it would drop to battery.

Have you checked temps while gaming and normal use? If your temps are fine then I would look at replacing the power supply or borrowing one that is of similar rating to test out. The one time I had a power supply start failing, I did experience a black screen (though mine was followed by a shut down) during Doom and then during testing in Unigine Heaven, I saw the system switching to battery power for a split second then back to AC power. Unstable voltage during high stress situations can cause all sorts of problems.

Update: It happened again when I was tinkering with my NVIDIA settings. Now I think G-sync. It caused black screen again and when I closed my lid and opened it again, the screen turned on. Although it shouldn't have happened before because G-sync wasn't on until this time when I tried it

I'm having a problem with the latest Windows 10 update. My USB mouse will periodically just straight up stop working and I'll have to unplug and replug it again to get it to work. Also, my USB keyboard will sometimes repeat keys (eg sometimes it will type keysssssssssssssssssssss) and sometimes it will just not register any keys when I type. My drivers for my mouse and keyboard are all up to date.

I was finally able to enable Intel Speed Shift using Throttlestop.

    Windows 10 feels snappier :)

Hi guys, I'm having a problem with my P650RG that has an i7-6700hq and 980m. It started a few weeks ago when Windows 10 installed some updates. My 980m is now giving a code 43 under device manager in mshybrid graphics mode and I can't open nvidia control center either from right clicking the desktop or from its folder and running as administrator. I also can't click on any of the other tabs in geforce experience other than drivers. If I do install the latest driver, after restart it will still say the newest one needs to be downloaded and installed. However, I do not think my 980m gpu is going bad as I can run it forever (while plugged in) on discrete graphics mode with benchmarks and games.

Now, I have tried quite a few solutions posted on a few forums but nothing has worked so far.

So, I have tried uninstalling the drivers from device manager, windows control panel, and using ddu to uninstall the nvidia drivers completely. I have then tried installing using geforce experience, the setup file in the folders downloaded from nvidia's site, and even tried using the driver from sager and clevo to see if they needed the laptop specific driver. I have also tried installing the newest nvidia driver back to the first one supported for Windows 10 to see if any of the older ones would help. I have also let windows update install the 980m driver as a last resort to see if that would make the computer happy.

I have also tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate to see if it was a Windows 10 problem, but it still didn't work in Windows 7. I then reinstalled Windows 10 and it still isn't working under the mshybrid mode. I have also re-flashed the BIOS with the same version BIOS, as I couldn't seem to find any BIOS updates for this laptop yet. I also installed driver boost to see if there was any other drivers that were outdated causing the graphics problem. I have also tried removing the battery for an hour, removing the battery and pressing the power button to discharge the capacitors or static electricity buildup.

    Any help is much appreciated!

Also, does anyone know if there is a newer BIOS than version 1.05.12?
Also, my laptop is a non-branded one and when I called Sager to try and get help they said the serial number didn't belong to them so does anyone know how to lookup the re-seller from the serial number?

Well you already tried to revert back to Windows 7, but I have an idea of what you can try next. Part of the graphics switching mechanism is the Intel Driver so I suggest using DDU for the Intel driver if you haven't tried that already, then install the latest one from Intel or (preferably) the one that Clevo suggests from their website. The fact that your card works fine in discrete graphics mode means that it is fine. Other than that, I am out of ideas really, hope this helps you out!

PS: As far as I know you are running the latest BIOS you will find for it.

    Thanks anmatheextreme,
I went ahead and tried that, but that still didn't fix it. I even tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers and installing them after doing that, but still the code 43 is showing up. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Anybody else have any idea what is going on with my poor laptop?

Do you have Clevo Control Center installed? Maybe installing it will solve the bug with the switching mechanism...just another idea that came to my mind.

I guess I also tried installing different versions of Windows (unactivated) both Home and Pro 32 and 64 bit versions but that didn't work as well. I just put it back to my 64 bit Education version now.

Make sure your touchpad is clean and re-install the driver, with such a cropped video it's a little hard to judge what is going on with the touchpad at the time.

I enabled SST but I'm still running build 10420. HWInfo64 shows SST in green, so does that mean it's enabled? As everywhere online seems to suggest build 10586 is required.

Speed Shift (SST) is a feature of Intel Skylake CPUs. Intel should have wrote their own software to enable it. Microsoft could enable Speed Shift in any version of Windows if they wanted to but they decided to only add it to the most recent versions of Windows 10. I use ThrottleStop to enable Speed Shift on my Windows 7 desktop Core i3-6100 so Windows 10 is definitely not required.

Green means it's enabled. Red means it's there but disabled. Grey means it's not a feature in your CPU which isn't the case here

A few days ago i posted this on reddit:
//Hi guys I was running 970m + 6700hq with 368.22 and updated to 375 for battlefield 1. After updating, I realised that after playing for a while the fps would drop by 60 to 70 fps and becomes totally unplayable. What's even worse is that the only way to fix that temporarily is by restarting my laptop and even then after a while i would still get the same weird fps drop. I used DDU and downgraded back to 368.22, disabled all gsync related stuff and still experiences the fps drop that was non existent during my first experience with 368.22. My cpu usage stays at around 40 percent (in CSGO when lagging) and gpu usage at 99 percent (also when lagging). Can someone help me?//

After messing with my laptop for awhile including (installing/reinstalling drivers, changing bios settings etc), i found out that one way to fix this issue is to simply unplug and plug the ac cord back in. This is definitely related to the passive cooling bug that some people were talking about. Does anyone have any idea how to permanently fix this bug?

Hitting FN+1 will switch fans to full blast and cool your CPU and GPU down if the fans are stuck in low speed and this is indeed the issue you are experiencing.

Does that mean full fan speed has to be always on in the future if i want to maintain a stable fps? o_O

FOLLOWUP: I found a etherum miner on my appdata folder, apparently it will start eating my system perf after a period of time post-booting. Which means that it has nothing to do with the passive cooling bug! However, I still cannot understand why unplugging my ac cord could restore the original performance

I've run into an issue that the NVidia drivers will no longer give me 3D options for this laptop screen. The entire section for G Sync has vanished. I have the system set to discreet in the bios. I am on the official release channel for drivers and this has been this way for at least six months. It's now causing issues trying to set a dual monitor since Nvidia has a hard time recognizing that I have a laptop screen. Windows 10 has no problem with it and all drivers are up to date.

    Anyone have this issue??

Have you tried a re-install of the OS or at least a full clean sweep of the drivers? Maybe something got a little twisted. I take it you did not update the BIOS at all?

I've tried multiple clean installs of each driver. I did nothing with the BIOS as I couldn't figure out if there was an update to it or where I could get it. I have the Sager version and I saw that I should not use the Clevo flash.

I've been thinking a Win10 clean install might do it, just wanted to see if I could avoid that pain. As it is I already need to order a new keyboard because the T key went out. Working with Exotic to get one now. I took ownership of this thing in March, I believe.

    edit: I have the

According to: https://www.hgst.com/products/hard-drives/travelstar-7k1000 it's 9.5mm so you can't install a 2nd mechanical drive os Sata SSD.
Fos this to work you need to use 7mm on both of them.

Anyone experience fps drop with recent Nvidia drivers (max 30 fps on dota2)? I'm on 980m. Tried DDU.

I'm suspecting that it might be a g-sync issue since it seems fixed when I turned it off. But it's only getting up to 60 fps. This is far lower than the 120fps I've been getting months ago.

I haven't ruled out yet if mine being in windows insider is causing the issue.

Also, is there a guide how to clean the fan of both CPU and GPU? Laptop has been a little noisy these past weeks.

Is anyone having having *heavy* performance issues when running on battery? It does not seem to be related to the CPU speed-limit "feature". In fact, if I manually limit the cpu speed on ac power, I still get a solid performance.

-> Battery voltage drops to 14.18V when battery powered, as opposed to 15.46V when ac powered. My bet is a faulty battery.

Before RMA I'd like to make sure that is not a "feature".

Battery voltage drops under load compared to no load, this is a physical property of the cells.

Performance is limited on battery as they cannot supply 230W (Ie complete discharge in 20 minutes which would over heat it).
