I would talk to @Prema to see if he has a good trick for this.

You called the BIOS guy? :p

Rename the 8MB file to 'P6XRX.rom' , put it on a FAT32 stick and boot with 'FN' + 'B' keys pressed until you see the recovery menu.

    Good Luck!

I have a P650RG-G and whenever I try to connect it to an external monitor using either HDMI or DP, the monitor always disconnects then comes back then loses connection again and so on. I tried connecting the laptop to two different monitors and different cables and it still happens.

The monitors are both G-Sync capable, BTW.

Are you using DP1.2+ or HDMI 2.0?

I'm not sure what revision the MiniDP to DP cable is but the HDMI cables I tried are the OEM ones that came with the PG279Q and X34.

    Edit:

It seems like the problem only arises when the P650RG-G is connected to a G-Sync monitor. I tried using a non-G-Sync monitor and projector with it and it doesn't lose connection.

    I see the point.

UPDATE: I did run a couple of benchmarks and find out that the problem exists only when running in discrete mode with the nvidia gpu.
When on battery and discrete mode, I get 30fps limit regardless of what I am testing in msi kombustor.
All good with ms-hybrid mode instead, so I am back to that for now.

I might check later for parameters in the nvidia drivers. ideas are welcome. ;)

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility BIOS Enablement Tool? It came on the driver disk with the P650RE, which I cannot find and my install on the computer has become corrupted.
    Thanks :)

No, this is the writing tool that saves changes directly to the BIOS so you don't need to run XTU at startup to apply clocks and voltages. It's alright though, I found the driver disk :)

New question here. I've got the P650RE3 purchased from Xotic about a year ago. I've already sent it back to Sager once to have it repaired because it wouldn't boot up. Screen would come, but the fans would kick in to high gear and it would power off. It's now doing the same thing, but the screen isn't come.

Has anyone else had similar issues? It doesn't get excessive wear and tear so I'm just trying to see if there's anyone else having similar issues.

That has happened to my P650RG-G a couple of times. The last time was because I pressed the power button to shut down instead of clicking on shut down in the start menu.

What I did was I disconnected the main battery and the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS. While doing so didn't fix the problem immediately, I did it a couple more times and then the laptop suddenly boot up properly.

That is odd as the power button is just basically the same soft function as the on screen button unless held down and it will shut off the machine suddenly.

Hey everyone. I've had my 8657 for about 8 months now and am really liking it. I had an issue come up in the past couple weeks though, which is causing some frustration. I have a 27" Dell monitor connected via DisplayPort, and another 24" monitor connected via HDMI-to-DVI. When I wake my laptop from sleep, or when it's not been in use for a bit and the external displays have gone to sleep, the external Dell display flickers on-off-on-off and so on (1-2 seconds between flickers), while the 24" screen remains black. After a minute or two of this, eventually the 24" monitor turns on and then the flicker stops. It is EXTREMELY frustrating, though, as the machine is essentially useless during this time as the mouse pointer re-centers itself in the laptop display each time the 27" screen goes black. Does anyone have any suggestions? It seems to be okay if I unplug the external displays from the laptop and then plug them back in, but I don't like having to do that.
    Thanks in advance.

Okay, went into Control Center and found it was on MSHybrid mode. I switched to Discrete, restarted the computer...and got the virutally same issue when I logged back in. The Dell monitor stayed on, and the 24" ViewSonic monitor stayed black, but I could hear it powering on-off-on-off. After a minute or so, it suddenly came on and stayed on. But again, the mouse pointer would jump back to the center of the laptop screen every time the ViewSonic flickered off. I'd try another cable, but I only have one HDMI-DVI cable. All connections seem to be tight.

    Hey, Merry Christmas everyone!

Just wondering if anyone knows where I buy spare replacement rubber feet for the bottom of this laptop. I seem to have misplaced one and not able to find them anywhere online... doesn't help that they're a triangle shape as well.

I tried to contact some resellers and all told me that I needed to buy the whole bottom case.
Since I didn't want to spend so much money I bough some Sugru and it did the job perfectly.

I'm having an issue (or, I think an issue) with using PCIe 4x M.2 slot with P650RE3 + Samsung 960 EVO.

The slot that I think is used for PCIe (above HDD tray) doesn't fit the M.2, and when plugged in, the drive is face down and in the BIOS not detected. Also, the pins are exposed.

In the right hand slot, the drive is oriented face up, the pins slide in completely, and the drive is detected.

How do I determine if I'm getting PCIe 4x speeds?

You can run crystal disk benchmark and see what your read speeds are. If it's detected then it's in the right slot :)

If the drive is detected your fine..

As for speed, Crystaldisk mark and a fee other utilities can be used to get that!

It appears to only be an issue when the old ViewSonic is plugged in. I guess I'll live with it until I can upgrade the monitor.

I've got another one! It seems like when I have 3 bluetooth devices connected to the laptop at the same time, I get intermittent times when all bluetooth connections get dropped. I never had the issue when only using 2 bluetooth devices. I currently have a set of Sony headphones, a Dell mouse, and a Kanex keyboard all using bluetooth simultaneously. Should this be an issue?

I believe it is speced (BT4.1) for 2 devices at the same time. You could always add a micro receiver into a USB slot to add more.

When I switch to discrete graphics from the clevo control center and reboot, the change takes effect , but control center keeps reporting that the machine is on MShybrid. Thing is, I can't get back to MShybrid after that from the control center, only through BIOS. I'd rather use the control center. Anyone have any idea how to do this?

I'm on Bios 1.05.05 and Nvidia driver 375.87 (latest GPU driver from xmg ftp). I'm not sure if the bios is the latest version, my supplier claimed it was. I got the machine this week.

Usually it's best to get the firmware up to date for such an issue before going into trouble shooting.

Hi guys, a couple of months ago I bought the CLEVO P650RE. I'm pretty satisfied but I having a few issues now. When I play games and record at the same time (with obs) the cpu goes into thermal protection because it reaches 100C.
Also I have a lot of screen bleed at the corners.

Is there a solution for the processor shutdown? Maybe I should buy one of these fan filled board the cool the laptops. Do they work?

What's the CPU and GPU idle temperature? High idle Temps could indicate issues with thermal paste or cool block placement. Are the fans maxed out when gaming plus recording?Open it up and check if anything is obstructing airflow. If not, try throttlestop. Expansive guide is available in uncle web's thread.

Hey guys, just picked up a P650HS-G (i7 7700hq + GTX 1070) and G-sync appears to be giving me grief. For one, I changed to DISCRETE in the BIOS but the Control Center app always seems to tell me it's in MSHYBRID. Also, while running in G-Sync (See it in the Nvidia Control Panel) I seem to be still getting some tearing in Overwatch. I then put the V-Sync on as well, and it seems to go away - indicating to me that G-Sync thinks it's enabled but is in fact, not. In GPU-Z I see VRel and Pwr as well as Util as the PerfCap reason and I'm trying to figure out what's going on and why G-Sync doesn't seem to want to work properly. I've removed Control Center and manually booted into BIOS changed to MSHYBRID rebooted and swapped back to DISCRETE, going to try re-installing the CC now.

Anyone else having quite a few issues with G-Sync? On my desktop monitors and previously owned Clevo units, it was never necessary to use V-Sync at the same time as G-sync... Kinda defeats the purpose, you know? I just got the unit in so I want to find out if I have a bad one and try to diagnose and fix it.

Edit: I did see the guy requesting a very similar topic a page ago, but this model is brand new. No new BIOS that I'm aware of and no new drivers to obtain so far- in fact downloading from the Clevo site itself is broken and I used the driver direct from the CD it shipped with.

    Thanks for any info!

OK, I reinstalled CC and found the following: After installing and restarting, PC booted and showed MSHYBRID mode in CC. I changed it to DISCRETE, it went through the restart, and I booted into BIOS prior to it booting where under Advanced, it was showing DISCRETE. The system appears to make the change, but it doesn't show in the Control Panel.
Tearing is still bad in DOTA and Overwatch, though V-Sync does work for Overwatch. DOTA tears badly either way. My desktop G-Sync monitors do not experience the same tearing in the same games. (Windows 10 is a fresh install with all drivers from CD)

    Edit:
Found an older version of CC and put myself back on it, and while DISCRETE now shows, the tearing is worse than ever. (Which CC should have nothing to do with, so go figure)
Games look terrible, and the stutter is real. Hopefully someone has sorted this, but I can't find anyone who has yet. I'll probably just see if I can return it without too much hassle unless someone else knows something?

    Hey @Meaker@Sager
They were normal options. I compared them to my desktop version and had all of the control panel options inside of the Clevo I did in the G-Sync desktop monitor. I believe desktop had a few more but it was close. I returned the notebook to the seller and they refunded me without issue after sending them a video of the extreme tearing I was experiencing. I can post it if anyone is interested, though I have a potty mouth so maybe NSFW. Also, trying to play Overwatch while film is very difficult so the video itself isn't great.
I have no proof of this whatsoever so take it for what it's worth, but it appeared to be the 15" 1080p panels that were so problematic with G-Sync. I've owned two Clevo 17" w/ G-Sync (same reseller) that have been just fine, but the two Clevo (Different sellers, different chipsets - Kaby Lake and Skylake) 15" w/ G-sync I've bought have both have crazy tearing and issues with discrete.

It might have been an odd panel issue I suppose, not something a lot of people have reported AFAIK.
