i might grab one of these if i am able to sell off my modded P870DM-G.

Is there a prema BIOS for this?

    Sadly, not yet.

@RigelKentL is that -300mV undervolt also without underclocking? If so, that's an insane undervolt, there's no downside to undervolting other than your system freezing/BSODing that I know of, if your chip can handle such low voltages, go for it.

Has anyone had any SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION BSODs or freezes & restarts?
I'm guessing it might be caused by the Kaby Lake HyperThreading bug and need new BIOS? (Currently on 1.05.04)

Not really run into it, that bug was for quite specific instances that most people wont run into.

    Yes, without underclocking.

    Right now its at:

-300mv CPU - feels as though I can take it further
-130mv Cache - absolute limit right now

Lowering the cache further I am getting blue screens and crashes, I havent attempted lowering the CPU further, will know today as I want to take it to the absolute limit.

Stress tests include intel burntest, hours of fallout4 , witcher3.

Maybe the latest bios from Sager NP8157 helped maintain stability under such low voltages:

    Bios Version: 1.05.07RLS2

    Hi all,
I jumped on the Clevo bandwagon (P650HS-G) last week and just started undervolting the CPU yesterday with some nice results (gaming-stable, no more testing done as of yet):
    Core -200mV
    Cache - 150mV

Now I wonder if anyone ever succeeded and undervolted the GTX 1070?

What max clock frequency are you getting with turbo? Run a Bench Like AIDA Extreme and select CPU and FPU.
At -300 usually you will not be able to clock it very high.

Cant afford the asking price of AIDA64 EXtreme at the moment.

but 7700HQ running linpack i reach 3393 on all 4 cores, and 3794 when tasks are lightly threaded.

I think you can use AIDA64 Extreme for 30 days in trial-mode after installation...

Yeap you can use the free AIDA version for that.
Usually demanding tasks like when you go FPU to the max, wont be able to maintain clocks with so much undervolt.
    At least that´s my experience.

And to be honest i never even seen that CPU go bellow -200mv, less than that and it would crash, are you sure about that value? Have you looked at TS to check the powers?

I am doubtful as well, i really dont think that is the actual undervolt, anyway here is a screenshot i put together with paint, TS and HW monitor are reporting different values

That is while doing light tasks, in this case listening to Queen while drinking whiskey.

Inform me if I made the wrong TS screenshot, i used to be an XTU guy till I became convinced TS is more flexible.

That or it was a low binned and actually better than tested so it started off particularly high voltage wise.

What is the difference between the P650HS and P650HP? Is it just the customisation options available to each? Apologies if this has been covered before

I'm liking the passmark scores for the 7820HK with a 900 point difference between it and the 6700K at 50W less....looks good.

I'll see how I feel around september-october if I am up for buying the P650HS-G and selling my P870DM-G.

Yeah it's not the same as cpu undervolt. Mechanics is different. For laptops the Afterburner settings may be greyed out. 1070 is already undervolted to be efficient in mobile systems. There might be some threads where they play with the clock settings to bring down voltage requirement.

When testing for temperatures, what's the consensus? Leave the fans on auto/overclock or hit fn+1 and let the fans run at max speed? Also, what exactly are the differences between the auto and overclock profiles?

I checked out the custom option but it seems pretty limited, with just being able to set the temperatures for turning the fans on/off and the max speed (which is capped to 80% if CC is to be trusted) :/

There's a shared heatpipe between the CPU and GPU, which certainly doesn't help if both are under load

I have a few questions that hopefully someone here will be able to help me with:
I'm stuck between the P650HP6 and the P950HP6. What are people's experiences with the P650? Is it portable enough for 50% usage around the house? I like that I'd have the ability to do upgrades to it later on/ pay less and be able to throw in an extra SSD I have laying around and thermals should be easier to keep down on it but if it's cumbersome to actually use in your lap (non gaming) then it might not be the best choice. People's thoughts?

Well it's not a thin fanless underpowered core m3 ultrabook (implying basically <4lbs). #firstworldproblems

Its a thick beefy super powerful gaming laptop with a gtx 1070 and a powerful skylake HQ processor. Thus, you are not gonna have a light weight laptop if ultrabook qualities is what you look for.

However gaming laptops have come a long way. My last gaming laptop was 9lbs and thicker than this one. I was never perturbed by the weight at all. Gotta work with what you have right. This new sager is around 5lbs, so it feels like a feather compared to the last one. Easily portable. I would easily recommend for the weight qualities. But again, weight and battery doesnt matter much if you are looking for a powerful high end gaming laptop. Mid end different story. You can sacrifice performance for weight surely.

Regarding upgrades. Yeah you can. Cant upgrade the processor tho #BGA!

The p650hp-6 has a gtx 1060, is also 5 mm thinner, so a little lighter, just not p950hp-6 level.

Yup. Mentioned the big brother p650HS as an example.

Dont worry about the weight IMO, if official specs say the weight to be in the 5-7lbs range. Plenty portable

Sweet. I'm been looking a lot into but haven't really seen people say how portable they think the system is. That being said, I am coming from a 2013 17" Asus ROG G750 that's 10lbs+ so this should feel like a feather comparatively

I plan on posting more later, but I wanted to give a quick initial impression of my P650HS. I love it!

It is so much lighter than my HP DV7 and I don't feel like I'm giving any screen real estate up since the native screen resolution is greater on the Sager.

Build quality seems top notch and the NVME based SSD boot drive I opted for is blazing fast.

This is actually my second Sager, but it has been a few years since I have had one. I'm glad to see everything is meeting my expectations, again!

Yep, here goes a question. If the answer is in this thread somewhere, feel free to point me to it.

I had a question related to the NVidia drivers on the P650HS. Can I just use the NVidia standard updater, or do I need to only install video drivers from the Sager web site?

Yep, you are best off using the latest one from Nvidia for performance in the latest titles.

The stock one is great in case you have issues and need to get to a standard known good configuration.

What does the "LCD" option mean?
I mean the one on the "F2" key that you can activate with "Fn+F2"
