Yes the reseller can provide the exact right file.
As for the exact process for dedicated/hybrid switch it is decided at power on by the bios. It can be switched in the bios and the machine rebooted but once started it cant be switched without a reboot.

Oh, I see. My model is the P650HP6-G, not sure to which "NP" it translates to. My reseller (PCSpecialist) told me 1.05.11 was the latest one they had even though I saw on Palkeo Repo 1.05.12 I think.
-
Ok, so your model is NP8156 (P65xHPx(-G)), whereas mine is NP8157 (P65xHS(-G)).
This is your repo that you referred to: https://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P65xHPx/
This is my model's: https://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P6xxHS/
It looks like your reseller hasn't updated to the latest & greatest (not necessarily always the case), but keep in mind that the date as shown on the repository is: 08/29/2018, and that is relatively new, so perhaps a testing phase is occurring at the moment. You can also alert them to a newer version, as they are not always checking for updates. I've done so myself for Obsidian-PC's database, and that's not even my own reseller - GentechPC
. Perhaps, the same can be told to PC-Specialist.
Ha, so I was .02-.03 off. Close enough. I would expect that for other models, but not for other makes of the same series.Last edited: Nov 14, 2018 -
Close enough then! haha.
I did notify them and they just told me .11 was the latest they had. So, I do have the BIOS they sent me. My question is, flashing this because it's a bigger process than on desktop motherboards, with flashing EC, then BIOS, etc, if successful it should work seamless and not mess anything related to Intel ME, CSM etc right?
These are the instructions sent to me:
-

From these instructions it's very unclear at the moment. I tried just copy pasting the contents into a USB disk and in the boot selection, when selecting it it says something like it there's nothing to boot or whatever. There's no clear instructions if the USB disk needs to be formatted to NTFS, to FAT32, if I need to create a bootable drive with Rufus? Or just straight copy paste the contents into it like they said? Should I disable Secure Boot in BIOS? Because that's enabled, not sure if it's affecting anything...
OFFTOPIC: Is it possible to have the laptop output video to my external DP monitor BEFORE entering Windows? Because that's what happens currently, I have to open the laptop if I need to do anything in the BIOS as the external monitor only turns on when it reaches Windows. -
how can i prevent the built-in battery from charging when plugged in?
is there a specific Windows setting or can it be done via registry? -
Hey guys, is there any news about a support for 2 x M.2 NVMe SSD disk in Clevo p670hs-g ???
I got "2TB 970 EVO" from the company, but now I found out that my model supports only one M.2 NVMe drive.
Is that perhaps fixed with the latest BIOS???
Or is there any external enclosure you can recommend since I have C-TYPE USB 3.1 (Gen2).. It should be the same as if it was installed in the laptop, right? -
I don't believe you can have 2x NVMe drives due to the ay the PCIe lanes are setup for this. However you can have 1x NVMe and 1xM.2 SATA drives at least on the p650hs-g.

Does anyone have a color profile for the P650HP? For some reason the colors are extremely skewed out of the box...everything looks very yellow...even night vision in games which should look green come out as yellow...
-
I tried several different color profiles and color calibration, but theres STILL a yellow tint ontop of everything...
Also the fan control in the control center appears to do nothing, have it at 10% and it sounds exactly the same as at 100%... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Try to keep the questions to one thread.
-
have you checked if you have blue light filter turned on. There's one with Windows 10 built in.
-
If you are referring to the "night light" option, yea i have, its off.
Im not entirely sure but i think the problem MIGHT be due the gpu stuck in 6 bit mode :
It should be at 8 bit. Im using an older intel driver now, and its at 8 bits, but im not sure if that is REALLY 8 bits. But the GTX 1060 is definately stuck on 6 bit for some reason.
Im waiting to hear back on nvidia why it is stuck on 6 bit.
Also I figured out why the fan controls do nothing...you need to restart before any changes will apply. I have it at 10% now and its pretty quiet.
But im still having an issue with the trackpad...it gets re-enabled every time i restart and I have to turn it off with fn+f1 again. Ive tried disabling/uninstalling all the trackpad stuff in device manager and it hasnt helped at all. How do i disable the trackpad permanently? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
As above, can you keep this to the thread you created for this question. -
My friend improved the holding of the DC socket soldering it better . Now it charging as expected
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The only thing you have to be careful of with the socket for power is that making sure it has not damaged the PCB, so long as it has not then replacing or repairing the connector should return full functionality.

Display glows: so I'm still seeing this halo effect (but almost always worse) after the unit's been left open and on with the display off for a while. It's been doing this since I've owned the thing, and typically it does go away after a while. Sometimes I'll come back and it will be almost completely "whited out" and very pixelated.
This time around it's been very slow to disappear, still not gone after over two hours if not more. This problem is the last thing I truly despise about the HS. It affected the 4K displays on the previous gen, and other users have confirmed it's a thing. What I still want to know is, has anyone found a reliable way to deal with it short of turning the unit off every time it's not in use, and does it happen on the 1080p display as well? Nice as having a 4K display is, if this panel model is this defective, and there's really only scaling woes to be had, I might end up swapping to the 1080 version if it doesn't suffer. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can check to see if the bezel is too tight but it seems like an issue with the LCD itself.
-
Could You confirm P650HP6-G have ability 4 disks ( 1 NVM M2, 2 x M2 SATA, 1 SATA 2.5' )
There is not possible to replace CPU, GPU? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
CPU and GPU are soldered:
It has 2x M.2 (one can be PCI-E and up to 2x slim SSDs or 1x HDD is the recommended max). -
I have the P650HS (almost the same) with 1 nvme (intel), 1 m2 ssd (wd), 1 ssd 2.5 (kingstone) and 1 2.5 hdd 1/B.
You cant change the cpu or gpu becouse its soldered to the motherboard

Hi, can you possibly point me to working ME936 drivers for the 650HS-G? Initially it worked as expected with the drivers being auto-downloaded from Windows Update, but the past couple of days (aka the days I actually kinda needed 4G in this bugger the most
), the 4G module's flat-out refusing to start (error 10). Also for some reason, now it's listed as a HP lt4110.

We never shipped the LTE version, does your reseller offer downloads?
-
I doubt the reseller would be much help, because I bought the modem via work (though it's the same ME936 as the one they were offering for this device), but a look through their downloads (and the ones for Clevo and Origin) doesn't list any 4G modems.
For the record, I tried clean-installing Windows 10 (the current and infamous 1809 version), but the problem still persists - the system just lists a driverless Huawei Mobile Broadband Module that it can't find any drivers for and at best, I can force the GNSS driver and a Bus Enumerator to load successfully, but the module itself is Code 11.
Later today, I'll dust off my emergency Linux Mint drive, to see if the module itself isn't stuck in disabled mode (I repeatedly had that problem with the mini-PCIe 7260 and ESPECIALLY its on-board Bluetooth module a couple of years back) and hopefully to wake it up from there -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you checked the clevo download page?
https://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/default.asp -
Yep, as I said - I've tried also Clevo (as in, their main download site) and the Obsidian Updater. I did find a driver buried in the Eurocom support page, so I'll try to force that one to install.
Edit: I think I blundered into a viable diagnosis - the modem's switched into an alternate ops mode (probably to upgrade the firmware file from WinUpdate) and never switched back to 4G mode
Edit 2: Yep, it wasn't a driver issue per se - the module was just stuck in "Firmware Download" mode. So, if anyone else has that problem with the Huawei ME936 (and basically, all its brethren) - follow this guide to the letter and you'll be back in actionLast edited: Dec 28, 2018 -
Anyone else having much higher GPU temps with latest Nvidia drivers? I have my 1070 maxing out (95% usage) under fairly undemanding loads (Starcraft 1 Remastered). Previously, I was able to have it run around 40-60% usage and get much cooler temps/quieter fans.
Most of my usage is not maxing out card so I like to optimize my system for lowest temps/quietest fan noise possible. Any suggestions on how to manage the 1070? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Give it a bug report if its extra loading without a performance impact.

Updated the BIOS for Sager from XoticPC (got the BIOS from Sager themselves via email). After that, my headphones (3.5mm) aren't registered anymore on it. They suggest a complete reinstall of Windows. Do that, same thing. Install original Realtek files, nada. Install SBX, nada. Install base CC .05, nada. Upgrade all the way up to CC .80, nada.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Try a reflash or step back one version.

Sager's generic BIOS for NP8157 (P65xHS(-G)) has been updated to 1.05.15 from v. 1.05.14

So I took the leap and went to repaste my CPU/GPU on my Eluktronics P650HS-G. I used Grizzly Kryonaut and spread the paste over entire chips and was careful to keep it smooth and even with complete coverage that wasn't too thick. Previously I had stock thermal paste for about a year.
Turns out my thermals are not much different, and potentially worse since there are more dramatic jumps (4-5 deg jumps) than before.
When I was reviewing some pictures I took, i noticed the factory paste covered a much wider area on the heatsink than just the area of the chip.
Is it best practice in this situation to cover more area on the heatsink than just the area of the chip when repasting? I was hoping to have some more favorable results but I am beginning to think I didn't use enough paste or my methodology was not ideal.
Any suggestions?

Best practise is to use a bead of paste and spread it with the pressure of the heatsink, pre-spreading can cause air gaps.

hey guys, its me again with another, rather disturbing problem.. i havent been doing any cpu intensive tasks lately, so i just realised today during a stress test, that my cpu and gpu is running hotter than before.. so i opened it up and cleaned some mess from the fans, which dropped down a couple degrees, but not really to the point i would like to.. furmark shows a maximum of 78C for GPU and aida64 shows 84C for CPU without GPU and 88 combined.. those temps are right below the point, where the cpu or gpu would start throttling which concerns me.. im aware of the fact that no game will stress the GPU and CPU as much as these tests, but those are high numbers considering that both the cpu and gpu are already undervolted, so theres nothing much i can do on the software side.. i was thinking of repasting it, but i am not sure if it voids the warranty or not (XMG branded laptop).. is it possible that the laptop needs a repaste even though the temps used to be better before? also i saw some people complaining that repasting actually doesnt help, some are even getting worse results.. what should i do?

Hello. Its been almost 2 yrs since I got my NP8155 (1060 3gb) from Sager. This laptop was running perfectly until a couple of months ago, the display was going nuts. Everytime I it turn it on, it wont register the color settings ive set in the nvidia control panel, and turns back to normal only when i close the lid down and open it again. Aside from that, the color settings wont register again in games making it dark and increasing the brightness wont do good. Ive googled possible fixes but to no avail. I beg for your help
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Does the bios look normal, have you re-installed the nvidia drivers?

@Meaker@Sager thanks for the reply. The bios still the same and i have already reinstalled the nvidia driver from sager website.

What happens if you flip from dedicated graphics to hybrid (or the other way)?
-
Tried it, still not fixed. I think the problem is from the nvidia driver. There were a lot of people complaining about it and supplied solutions. Tried several of them but doesnt fix mine. I cant play games the color gives me headache.
Can you recommend a new driver for gtx1060 3gb sir? Im afraid to use drivers other than from sager website. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The official nvidia latest usually.
It's odd as the Intel drivers control the display in hybrid mode suggesting it's not a driver issue. -
Ive noticed that the color profile in my nvidia CP only works in windowed mode but not on fullscreen. Any idea about this sir?
