    Hey Guys!

I hope i can post it here.
    XMG P507 (2016) Skylake
    System Model P65_67RSRP
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
    BaseBoard Product P65_67RSRP
    GTX 1070 8gb
    2x8gb samsung ddr4 2133mhz
Windows 10 Pro (retail) 1803 (actual version)
    most recent bios (2017) 1.05.08

    Short version:
My notebook keeps crashing even after open chrome or firefox but sometimes works fine even with heavy load by R6 siege , Divison 2, etc for hours.

    Long version:
I just figured out if i let my pc idle or windows locked mode and then i come back and start any 3D heavy app a hard crash appear. I tried to reinstall the windows with different version (1803,1809,1903) but the very next day after the installation this problem come back. I installed the latest drivers from https://www.mysn.de/driver/1_XMG/XMG_P507_P707/ here and even bought Obsidian tool too. So far no fix for my problem. Windows Memtest no error, cpu test no error, sfc no problem, well furmark no error for most of the time except when it instant crash the notebook at the very moment i start it. When its ok it can run for hours without problem. My latest succes was with the chipset\MEI driver install/uninstall previous/newer version at EVERY WINDOWS START so its work until i shut down my notebook.

im really frustrated because the diagnostic tools cannot find any problems but non windows version / drivers seems okay. I cannot upgrade / downgrade the bios version because i only have this 1.05.08 to download. I asked for help from XMG, PC Specialist, local IT forum, and here but so far no reply.

Thank you for your time to read this long post.

Try adding a small voltage offset of say +25mv and see if this behaviour changes.

    Elanth,

I don't have your model, but I do have a Pro-X P650HS-G. The obsidian tools saved my bacon, but I just read you already purchased. Make sure that you do not let that damn keyboard filter driver activate in your machine. It's death to all things Clevo.

When the machine crashes, what is the stop code?

Temp question folks. I have a Pro-X P650HS-G, and I'm using the Obsidian fan control. The unit is 2+ years old and has been a solid performer unless that damn keyboard filter driver gets loaded :). Right now, I'm seeing the following temperatures:

    - editting, typing etc: 50C, 45C (cpu/gpu).
    - playing a video: 64C, 60C
    - gaming - I don't care.

Just wondering if other long term users are seeing the same temperature levels? Going back to the first post, the look pretty typical. Just wondering when it's time to clean the fans.

    Thanks

50*C seems a bit high for typing and general office work. Even before I repasted, my 650HS-G was running at near-idle temps (40*C) doing office or casual web browsing with youtube and most videos in the mid-50s at best (with a lot of the playback apparently offloaded to the hardware decode modules in the iGPU and GPU). For the record, those temps are with a mild undervolt ( -75mV) and aftermarket thermal paste, on a hard surface and without a laptop cooler of any sort. After the repaste, the lows remained basically the same (atm with 15 Chrome tabs including a 1080p youtube video running on a secondary screen I'm at 40*C at ambient 22) with highs up to 75 when I play intensive games or having Lightroom do a big batch development job (1000 + RAW files)

Edit: I missed the part about cleaning the fans... Honestly, I'd recommend you use some compressed air through them every couple of months (preferably from a compressor, but the canned "air" works too), because that keeps the bugger humming along with lower temps and quieter fans ;)

i hear you. This is my development machine, so it too is on a hard surface, etc. I haven't cleaned them in a bit, I'll be sure to do it.

If you don't already have it, go out to obsidian and spend a few dollars or euros :). I grabbed their driver update software first, but a couple of weeks ago, I spent the money on their fan control program. Well worth the investment.

Went out and purchased the obsidian fan control software to allow me to monitor temperatures a little better. With no video running, just typing this I'm sitting around 10-15% cpu (who knows what firefox is doing in the background, right?) and 53C. I'm definitely running hot. I'll start with the compressed air and plan on resetting the thermal paste with arctic silver.

Do a full repaste, remove the coolers, remove the fans.
Clean the coolers with a brush, remove all thermal compounds, clean the fans and add fan grease if your are "magnet" type (not sure on that model).
Use a proper thermal paste: IC Diamond / Kryonault / Gelid Extreme.

Anyone has an issue with brightness on MSHYBRID after updating to Windows 10 1809? The brightness is always maxed out on ac and battery. If I change the brightness (from display settings or keyboard button), the brightness meter changes but the actual brightness on the monitor doesn't change. It is always maxed out. No issue in DISCRETE mode. So far I have tried the following:

-Reinstall Intel and Nvidia Graphics driver (using DDU too)
    -Reinstall Intel ME
    -Reinstall Intel Chipset
    -Reinstall Clevo Control Center (twice)
-Apply Brightness Fix in Obsidian Control station
    -Update BIOS to 1.05.14
    -Load default settings in BIOS

15.6" 120Hz - 5ms Full HD (1920x1080) TN with G-Sync. The Hardware ID is AUO2ED. I don't think the issue is from the panel since the brightness works in DISCRETE mode.

I didn't have the issue before updating windows 10 to 1809 (2 days ago) but there is a chance it broke from the latest intel graphics driver. I believe I might have not tested the brightness between updating the intel driver and Windows.

Someone mentioned they had an issue with brightness on page 164-165 and that @John@OBSIDIAN-PC is working on a fix.

The latest Intel Graphics / Chipset driver provided by the Obsidian app is the culprit. I had the same issues with 1903 with some of the drivers provided by the Updater (the Realtek Audio driver was equally borked being stuck at full blast). Easiest way to go around that is to use Intel's own updater and use those driver packages

No point in re-instslling the nvidia drivers for optimus mode issues, they literally have 0 input on the panel settings by the way.

That's what I thought. I am using Obsidian Updater too. I'll find a driver from Intel's website. I hate using auto-updaters from big tech companies. They have ads, laggy and take ages to download/install with their proprietary software.

Unless broken, I should probably stop updating all the drivers except the Nvidia driver.

Anyway, thank you for letting me know!

By the way, anyone else seeing a spike in system crashes related to Optimus in Windows 10 v1903? Initially I assumed it was my hardware acting up, but from what I've seen so far on my other gear and a trip to reddit, it really seems to me that there are more freezes and outright crashes as of late with all sorts of switchable graphics solutions?

There's some general advice/guidelines here, but generally it's best to get the BIOS and support for it through your seller.

Which version is it and why can't you update?

This bios is from XMG. The only difference is that you will have XMG splash on startup.

    P507_1060_2017 is P650HP-G (latest bios 1.05.11)
    P507_1070_2017 is P650HS-G (latest bios 1.05.14)
    P707 is the 17 inch version P670HP-G and P670HS-G

Standard setup is to copy everything into a FAT32 formatted usb and open WMeset.exe which will create a bootable EFI shell for you in the usb. However, it doesn't work probably because they check that the laptop is theirs. What I did is put my own EFI shell file (you can find it online or from other bios files). The EFI shell file should be in EFI/BOOT folder in the usb. Restart the PC and boot to the EFI shell.

    1. Type flashme in the command line. PC will reboot.
    2. After reboot, boot to the EFI shell again.
    3. Type eol in the command line. PC will reboot and you are done.

I tried the 1.05.14 and worked fine.

The amount of bad luck I have had with my machine is frankly ridiculous ...

The screen have developed an annoying white spot that is making it a pain to read anything on this computer because of how distracting it is. But, not only this but one of keyboard keys decided it had enough and popped out with its clips broken and I'm probably going to have to replace the entire thing again ...

If I can't find a cheap replacement for the screen and the keycap I'm probably replacing the entire thing because it is hard to work without a properly function backspace and a big distracting white spot right in the centre of the screen. Please tell me there is a way to get this sorted, because getting sorted through the retailer (PCSpecialistUK) is going to be expensive because they don't ship screens and don't have spare keys (need to ship the entire thing for the third time :( ... ).

Well I tried following this guide, but my pc doesn't restart on step 4 when I run WMeset.exe. If I try to do step 7 I get the following ERROR.

Ill try to go through @ topenzz guide and see how it goes!

Edit: Eluktronics recmondeded to not go through EFI process, all they said was to turn off PC, take out AC wait 15 sec plug it in and try again... But obviously it didnt work.

Panels are pretty easy to source, you just have to be careful of "compatible replacements" which can have dubious quality.

So I’m having a serious issue with Windows version 1903. It renders my P650HP6-G from Eluktronics inoperable. After the update the laptop restarts and just hangs at the bios splash screen. I called Eluktronics and they said people with this model and a few others are having the same issue but they are not sure of a solution at this time. If you have this laptop model I’d highly advise not to update and turn off automatic updates until a solution is found.

I pulled the nvme ssd and did a fresh install on a different mobo and everything worked as it should but upon placing the drive back into the laptop, same issue.

Eluktronics already made a fix, but I still can't install BIOS... Everything is good now but I still get this ERROR, how does the FLASH.NSH should look like? There is a syntax error! It doesnt complete all this code below:

    if not %Lasterror% == 0 then (<-- This is line 34)
    goto end
    endif

    # restore MSDM
    if exist msdm.bin then
    oaidefix64 msdm.bin /oa
    if not %Lasterror% == 0 then
    goto end
    endif
    del msdm.bin
    endif

    # shutdown system

I had the same problem with a P650HP6-G laptop from Obsidian when installing microcode update KB4465065 ontop of 1809. In my case i got the laptop booting when disabling Speedstep in BIOS, I'm thinking that if this microcode update is bundled in 1903, it might be the reason for why it's breaking there as well, so it might be worth trying to disable it. Disabling Speedstep also disables Turbo, but you can re-enable both with throttlestop once windows is booted.

Hi I have the P651HP6-G I currently have an nvme in the nvme slot and an sata m.2 in the other slot and currently the nvme is not being picked up and it won't boot into windows. The bios I have is 1.05.11. Would a newer bios fix this issue?

Probably not, because this configuration should work as advertised and on the same UEFI revision and it works (650HS-G with 960Evo + 3 assorted SATA drives) in both normal mode and RAID. Can you please elaborate a bit on what you meant by "is being picked up, but doesn't boot"?

Ah, that makes sense (I assumed that was the case, but it's always better to ask just in case). In theory the drive should work absolutely fine. Can you tell me what drives (model names) you're trying to use, because it may be a drive-side issue... Also, I have to ask - both drives work fine on their own, correct? (I'll pop into BIOS to refresh my memories on how it's laid out)

I have a 960 evo 500gb nvme and just picked up a 1tb wd blue sata m.2 as a game drive. Yeah both drives were bought new so should just work. I only bought this laptop in the last month from scan so am thinking there might have been some weird issue fixed in bios that's causing this.

I've noticed that realtex pxe b6d d00 comes up in the boot option. I did get an error related to that when I tried to boot with all the m.2 drives in

Eh, that kinda suggests that the new drive may be replacing the NVMe as a boot drive(perhaps it defaults to SATA for some reason), so you may want to poke in those settings (with 2 drives in) and manually select the NVMe as primary boot drive.. Also, FWIW, you may want to disable LAN boot and the like, because I doubt you'll ever use it (and leaving it on is a form of a security risk ;) )

Edit: the NVMe drive may not be displayed on the main page, but it should be listed in the storage subsection under PCIe ( I think... I'm in RAID atm, so my menus are a bit different) controller

I thought that might be it but the damn thing doesn't show the nvme anywhere once both drives are in. This is really giving me a headache.

I've been reading through older forum posts and it seems like clevo laptops allow either one nvme m.2 or two sata m.2 which means I'm a bit screwed.

Yeah, I got the same shock when I went from an all-SATA setup to my current one, during the first bootup the system refused to boot (for some reason) and it almost gave me a heart attack. Oh well, if it keeps acting up, you can always move the m2 to a 2.5'' adapter and into one of the 2.5'' ports)
Eh, this model (the current P650) actually does support this combo, in fact I'm running this beauty at the moment (I've got a 970 Evo Plus in the mail, but God knows when I'll have time to migrate to it):

No idea who keeps spreading this 1 NVMe or 2 SATA thing, but it's been incorrect since day one :D
(current gen WD Blue m2, WD Blue 2.5'' and an 860 Evo 2.5'' + aforementioned 960Evo)
