    Hello,

I need buying advice or reassurance. I'm in Europe. and eyeing the XMG P507 with 7820HK and either 1060 or 1070. This would be a machine to solve all my needs: desktop relacement at work, gaming PC at home, including emulators like Dolphin and PCSX2 (that's why CPU matters). I hear that the display isn't that great, but I use a TV for gaming or external displays all the time. I'm ready to accept that compromise.

What can I expect from the CPU though? I think these emulators need just two threads but high clocks and the integrated GPU is enough for them. (I'm saying this because I understand this means ess heat from the GPU.) I have an age old 3610qm, and I'm not blown away by the improvement I can get from current laptop CPUs according to what I see in comaprisons like this one:
    http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-7820HK-vs-Intel-Core-i7-3610QM/m224965vs2730

Can you give me advice? Is the P507 a good choice? Is there anything else to consider around the same price? Thanks in advance.

    Hello guys,

    I just got my Eurocom MX5 R3 with 7820HK and 1070.
However, I run a Heaven Benchmark and I found that my CPU temp went up to 96-98 on the benchmark while GPU was only 83.
Is it normal? Do I need to repaste it?

Try elevating your laptop a few inches to give breathing room for air intake. Would help a few degrees with the temps. Max fana would also help. If still hot, a repaste would be needed.

I found something weird. I used automatic fan profile when it reached 97 but temp was reduced significantly when I use fan max speed.

So i found the DFS501105FR0T cpu fan can be bought on both ebay and amazon, etc, for about 9-12$. But I can't find any model number on the GPU cooler fan. The GPU heatsink has 6-31-p650n-202 written on it but there aren't any products matching that exact number, but i did find similar ones.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...N-FG80-FG7Y-6-31-P502/939007_32678613835.html

That fan for example looks exactly like the one in the P650. But it is rather expensive at a whooping $45 shipped. Anyone found a cheaper alternative? I'm afraid the fan will fail sooner or later. I've had two laptop in my house fail due to fan failure leading to overheating, as well as many desktop fans failing over the years. So i'm almost tempted to buy the GPU/CPU can replacements as backups so that I can fun the rans at 100% file gaming.

Hi everyone! I just received my P650RP6 and I'm setting it up right now. Silly question but do I need to download the Obsidian tool to replace my Clevo Control Center? The Obsidian link on the first post isn't working anymore.

In that case, what profile should I use when I play games?
I ran Heaven Benchmark with max fan profile and -0.1 mVolt and CPU temperature was around 89. Is it normal or should I repaste it?

I did a benchmark again and here is the result.
2 cm lifted up, Max Temp = 83 celsius
without lift, Max Tempe = 88 celsius

All were tested at room temp around 27-28, undervolt by 110 mVolt and max fan speed.

Why would the CPU temp reach that high? AFAIK Heaven Benchmark is not CPU intensive, barely reaching 50% usage. Did you check maybe other processes are taking up CPU %? Also try undervolting as much as -150mV (taking precaution as far as undervolting is concerned).

I re-pasted and the temps went down a bit. I have an under volt of -120 and I now get temps around the low to mid 70s playing BOIII. If the GPU and CPU didn't share cooling the CPU temps would be lower. I noticed when the GPU heats up the CPU goes up as well. When doing just CPU intensive things it never goes above 68c. If they both had their own exclusive cooling the CPU would be much cooler. Instead the CPU takes some of the GPU heat as well.

My room temp right now stays around 67-69F. I don't crank the heat even in winter. I do suspect that during the summer it might get a bit warmer.

Doesn't seem to be enlarged enough. Three heat pipes to the CPU would be a welcome addition.

    Hey Guys,

I just got my new Clevo P650HS-G from Hidevolution. [7700HQ, 60Hz 1080P display] and I have been facing a few problems with it:
    • The screen color/brightness changes automatically depending on the what the screen is displaying. If there's more white, the display becomes more colorful/brighter and if there's more dark then it becomes more dull. Like when the laptop boots, the colors look very dull. But if I open a web browser (with a full white background) then the display automatically becomes more bright. I have tried a lot of solutions on the internet but nothing seems to be working.
    • The settings in the Control Center don't change. By default the graphics mode is MSHYBRID. When I change it to Discreet and restart it, it's again MSHYBRID. The setting for what the power button does is also stuck at Hibernate. I wanted to change it to Sleep. EDIT: I found that BIOS was enforcing the discreet mode. So I am able to change the graphics setting through that now.
Has anyone else faced a similar situation regarding the screen?

Unless your BIOS is enforcing a DISCRETE mode which is maybe something done for the 120hz NVSR panels, i´m totally guessing here, but if that was the case it would explain the fact your not able to change the graphic mode and why you would not be able to install the intel graphic driver.
You should ask your supplier if they have done anything like that.
Power button is pretty much like that.

It is a bug with version 5.0001.1.05 of Clevo Control Center. This is the latest and only version for P650HS-G. You can change the sleep button from power options (you have more choices in there too). Use BIOS to switch between the graphics mode. The switch is always stuck at MSHYBRID in this version.

Alternatively, install a newer Clevo Control Center from P650HP-G (only difference is 1060 card instead of 1070). There shouldn't be an issue as these drivers should be generic. There is also a thread where they discussed it and there shouldn't be an issue.

I am not sure if this is the exact same problem I am facing. But the screen does change colors based on the light/dark content being currently displayed. I will try and capture a screen video soon and post it here.

Thanks for the help! I think I can work with changing the settings in BIOS until they fix the Control Center.
Also, I just updated the CC to the latest version and now the CPU overclock option is not working anymore. GPU overclock is still working.

you can use Throttlestop for OC/UV or even activate Speedshift with it so the CPU can take care of the power Management instead of the Windows OS ....

So regarding my brightness change problem, it seems many people with different laptops have faced this problem over the years:
Below is the link to a video about this problem someone else made:
You have to focus on the icon on the center of the screen to see the change in contrast. This guy faces the problem only while running on battery so you won't see any problem in the first half of the vid. In the second half when he disconnects the power cord, the problem becomes apparent. I am facing this problem both plugged in and on battery.

I will do a fresh install of windows through the recovery settings to try and fix this.

So, my wireless woes are still... uh woeful. At home, it takes anywhere from a one to three minutes for me to even detect my 5GHz AC network, both with the Windows utility and inSSIDer. My 2.4GHz N network is seen instantly, but if I connect to it my connection is spotty. Getting response times anywhere from 50ms to 1500ms when I ping the router. Same issue on my parent's 2.4GHz network. My 2.4GHz network at work works just fine. At home, my phone can detect and connect to my 5GHz AC instantly with no drops or lag.

I want to say this is a hardware issue, but I'm still not sure. The fact that it works perfectly fine in one location puzzles me.

Anyone here tried playing Witcher 3 for around an hour on max settings? HBAO+, 8AA on Hairworks, absolute max. 1080p 120hz.

My temps peak at CPU 88c, GPU 84c-87c.
I have already repasted several times using Grizzly Kryonaut via several techniques, pea on the center, evenly spread, X, thin, thick etc.
I have also undervolted via XTU -125c, without undervolt the temps will reach low 90s.

    Are my temps ok?
Any suggestions to improve my temps?

I was thinking maybe I can use sandpaper / grit to lap the copper heatsink, the side that makes contact with the gpu and cpu, to see if this will improve things.

Hi! So I've been using Afterburner however, Im quite confused in some stuffs. While playing far cry primal my core clock is usually around 1400mhz, memory clock 4000mhz, and gpu usage 99%. Does that make sense? Is there a problem or it's good? I have 1060 3gb btw. Thanks :)

So the np8157 comes with a 9.5m 1tb HDD standard. But you could take it out and fit two 7mm drives like the firecuda without changing the configuration in any other way, correct?

Just watch the temps with two mechanical drives sandwiched together. It's more for two SSDs.

I am getting the following scores:
    Fire Strike: 13648
    Sky Diver: 29410
    Time Spy: 5287
Heaven 1080p Ultra Quality, Extreme tessellation, 8x AA: 2181

Are these good/acceptable scores? I saw that the 1070 boosted to 1911 MHz stable in Heaven.

I am more concerned about temps. I am using Entertainment with Custom Fan Profile (Fan Start at 60C, Stop at 50, and full fan speed of 80%). Before running heaven, these were my temps in HWMonitor:
    Avg, Min, Max:
    CPU package:54C, 51C, 66C
    GPU: 52C, 40C, 52C
    CPU VID is is 1.209V

Just after the benchmark, these are the temperatures:
    CPU: 81C, 51C, 96C
    GPU: 76C, 49C, 80C

Both CPU and GPU are factory pasted with ICD and ambient temperature is 24C.

    Suggestions or comments?

Getting really high temps ! (30 mins of BF4)

    Just after exiting the game:

And does anyone have any idea why I keep getting these "Aux Switch has stopped working" dialogs? I get one whenever I boot up in Discrete mode or when I launch a game.

Thank you for the info and the good advice. :notworthy:

But would be good for the firecuda and a SSD or would that also have the same issues?

Maybe I should just wait til I can save up for two SSD for that spot.
