Did you recently update the driver for the camera? If so try rolling back to a last known working driver.

I was also reading that it could possibly be that the wire running from the camera down to the motherboard could be the issue. Just throwing suggestions out there. I am by no means a guru in this field.

So I'm starting to have some real frustrating issues with my laptop. P650-RS 6700hq, M.2 drive, GTX-1070. It's been great until recent and now it is so glitchy I'm losing my mind. Right now total war warhammer will load and sometimes the screen will flicker black and then stay in the game and I can play (performance seems fine) other times it will flicker and stay black as if the screen if off. I try and load Arma III and Dayz and it will load fine to the menu and I will start a game and it loads into the map/mission and I see everything then it will flicker to black and it's as if the screen is off. I'll end up on the desktop froze or it sometimes gives me a few errors but not always. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I have gsync off, fast sync on. Downgrade the graphics driver and still no improvement.

Hi everyone, I am having a strange issue with my P-650's screen being black after a prolonged period off or away.
For example if I turn off the computer and leave it alone for an hour+ when I press the power button the LED lights will light on but the screen is black. Then, using the power button to turn it off and on again it starts like nothing happened. Although once I am at the windows screen sometimes the screen flickers into black once or twice and again once I enter the password and the desktop loads.

I know the computer must load because in the event viewer it records the 'turned off without shut down'. But what is the issue?

So last night I left it on overnight instead of turning it off and this morning when I came to it the issue was the same -- the screen is black and requires the power button to turn it off.

I checked my updater and nothing has happened over the last 4 days -- which is when this problem started -- to warrant a reversal. As in I havent downloaded any new software or updates.

 

This happens to me as well when resuming from sleep or hibernate, but not systematically. It's odd.

It just notes when I turned it off using the power button and event id 29, which is the fast start up failure signal, but I turned that option off.

Actually another thing that I noticed is when I try to turn it on for the first time when its not plugged in then it never boots on. Only when its plugged into the wall does it boot up on a 2nd or 3rd time. With the screen. Is this a power issue? a screen issue ? or something worse.

 

This is the first time I am seeing users with this problem. Tbh screen going black issues is typical in dying GPUs. However with a significant amount of users experiencing the same problem I think I can rule that out. More.like a power or driver issue.

Hello, have someone flashed "XMG_P507_1060_BIOS_1.05.09" on a P650xRP6-G ?

Iam not shure this is the right BIOS / EC for me.

 

I have this problem too, along with the long explanation of my issue I posted earlier with games and loading into black screens. I did find that when I turn off discrete mode the issues have improved. Also when I'm in discrete mode I have the black screen issues like you, when I boot into windows after being powered off it loads to a black screen yet the LEDs, keyboard etc is lit but no display, this happens when it is not plugged in, in discrete mode, and booting. Same exact issue like you have, glad I'm not alone. It Makes absolutely no sense. Turn it to hybrid and I don't have the issue, BUT then I don't have the nvidia control settings like gsync etc are missing I guess because it is operating on the intel graphics processor. Any way it's pretty aggravating and I don't know how or if it will be fixed.

I flashed this Barebone dead, some months ago. My dealer, without cost - cool - give me a new barebone.
So iam Happy - I have a new BIOS installed, it does make me ->

I have flashed BIOS "XMG_P507_1060_BIOS_1.05.09" on a P650RP6-G.

It works, XMG Logo, BIOS v1.05.09
EC and ME no change. I try something later:

Actual:
BIOS: 1.05.09
EC: 1.05.02TR1
ME: 11.0.12.1008

Should i update EC / ME?
EDIT: for Flexicharger i updated to new EC 1.05.08TR

I hope Flexicharger work now and known issues second Monitor gone.
ACPI and DPC Latency issues, too.

Some one know what "Fn + G + Power Button" do?
EDIT: Reset GPU Overclock.

I hate the NVMe Samsung driver v2.1 -> maximum DPC latency issues.
I use MS NVMe drivers with workaround.

GSYNC works fine, overall: iam happy.

 

As said by tlprtr19, screen going black issues is typical in dying GPUs. Check your event viewer for warnings regarding display or nvidia driver. You can also perform a clean w10 installation and try nvidia drivers that used to work fine; if you get the same issues then it's RMA time...

I get a nvlddmkm BSOD about every week or two when I'm using the iGPU while browsing. Should I be particularly concerned?

 

If that is under a clean w10 installation, with drivers that used to work fine, then I'd contact them.

I think you misunderstood my post; TDR errors can point to a faulty GPU, but also to other problems (driver bug, game bug, faulty PSU...)

Take a look at the time and date of the warnings of my event viewer, I was getting continuous TDR errors with a clean w10 installation, with drivers that gave me no problems before.

 

Thanks. Yeah it's under a fresh reinstall of windows 10. I'm going to contact them and see what they think. It has always been goofy since I got it I just figured it was windows 10. Now it just seems to be occurring more often. I will let you all know. Thanks again.

I've been having the exact same TDR/event 4101 black screen problems being described above. I was hoping it wasn't a hardware issue since it seemed to coincide with the January Windwos 10 update but that doesn't seem to be the case. Glad in a way to see it's not just me who has the issue. I've been waiting for the next windows patch to see if that helped before seeking an RMA since it works almost perfectly in hybrid mode (aside from very rare black screens). Absolutely love the laptop though, I've been lurking in this thread since before I even bought it.

 

I'm in the same boat. The issues are almost completely absent in hybrid mode and the laptop behaves normal, besides not having the nvidia control settings for the 1070 because it's in hybrid mode like Gsync options and other discrete things, but it is extremely buggy in discrete. Load to black screen (typically when not plugged in), black screen when booting from sleep, and other games loading to black screen and crashes. So is it an issue with the 1070 itself or just a software issue. I don't want to go through a 2nd RMA, the first was for horrible black light bleed which they fixed very well. I'll update when I hear from Xoticpc on whether they think an RMA is best. Overall I do love the laptop, performance, display quality and size. It does, however, seem the most glitchy of all Sager models I've owned.

It was broken?? Mine has been working gangbusters. Make sure you use discrete (not MSHYBRID) for G-SYNC to work.

 

My G-Sync was working perfectly too until these TDR errors started happening. I had never used G-Sync before so I didn't have the settings correct at first but once I did it was flawless.

 

Can somebody please let me know what thermal pad size and thickness the p650rs takes? Im going to order Conductonaut and Minus pads to replace what came with my unit. Thank you.

 

I feel my posts are scrambled. I will try to clarify my issues to see if anyone else is having similar issues and has found a solution of any sort.

My laptop (Sager NP650RS) while in discrete mode loads games to black screen or as if the screen were turned off, but I still hear the game or the game flickers black once in a while if it does load or the game will load then freeze then crash to desktop and I can either kill the application or have to hard restart. This is with Gsync off and fast sync on and I've tested with it off. Also while in discrete mode if I try to turn the laptop on from sleep or after being shutdown WITHOUT the power supply it will turn on and the LED lights and keyboard are lit, but never loads or loads to a black screen, I then have to hard restart. IF it is plugged into the power adapter this happens much less often, usually boots normal, but occasionally will not boot and remain black. Now if I am in hybrid mode it will load with or without the power supply perfectly fine. Also while in hybrid mode Games seem to load better and there is much less issue, only occasionally crash to desktop or freeze BUT in hybrd I can't access all the Nvidia control settings for the 1070. 3DMark passes stresstests fine and Firestrike scores 12500ish so the 1070 appears to be working fine. I run with fans max in game etc and HWINFO shows my temps CPU 72 and GPU 74. Anyway any help is greatly appreciated in this matter, I have loved the laptop, but it has been the least stable of all the Sagers I have owned.

 

Have you contacted your reseller to see if they can supply you with an updated BIOS and EC?

 

I purchased from XoticPC and they have been excellent, but lately I don't know if they are swamped but I'm not getting an answer from there for a few days. Guess it's time to call them.

I too wondered if it's a BIOS thing, I just reinstalled the Nvidia drivers from Sagers website, they are old, but I installed them after completely uninstalling the newer drivers and deleting all nvidia folders to start from scratch. I know they've worked in the past, But it went right back to doing it on discrete. 3Dmark fire strike was 12890 highest score yet, then I ran valley benchmark and it crashed like 5 times after a few seconds. Dayz and Arma III freeze in the menu so they don't work, and I have to hard reboot. It's a total mess right now. The event monitor shows just today 20 display driver nvlddmkm stopped and recovered. Something's not right.

What are you trying to change? There is a little icon warning you which settings require a reboot, remove those and test the others first.

With tweaking try and start with just one setting at a time, especially as more of a beginner, that way it can be easier to trace issues changes might have caused.

 

These are the exact same issues I'm having and it's very frustrating. I wonder what the cause is too, GPU related it seems. It appears somewhat common for how specific a problem it is. Would love to hear if anyone else has an idea about it. I suspect it'll have to go back for a replacement motherboard unfortunately. I need a functioning laptop for now but as soon as I can go without it I'll be contacting Sager directly for a repair.

Usually for an update on all the issues, we would need to request that when it is shipping out. Sager (as well as all other manufacturers) just tell us it was received, then when it shipped out again. We would just need to request some info from them, which I could do, or whoever set up your case could also do.

It seems like an RMA situation. I'll be doing the same when I have the time. I absolutely love the laptop so it'll be a shame to be without it for a while. Keep us posted if you get any details of the problem.

 

Yeah I'm bummed about the RMA. It's been excellent all around, just started having more issues frequently like I was explaining. Glad Xoticpc got it taken care of for repairs I was getting frustrated and was at a loss on what to do. I'll request that they let me know what the issue was and what was done.

Can someone confirm if I can flash this bios from Eluktronics ( http://www.eluktronics.com/p650rs-g-p670rs-g-p670rp6-bios-update/ ) on my Eluktronics P650RP6 (No Gsync, 1060).

It's kind of confusing to understand, because someone said it has a 1.05.05 version and mine is 1.05.01, but I dunno if it's about P650RP6 or P670RP6, and I don't know if it's cross compatible.

Check the app in my sig, it will report latest version. Request the file to your vendor.

 

650rp6 here. On some startups the control center v.50001.073 and the flexikey app doesnt start. They keyboard stays blue, no symbols near the clock (systemtray). Latest xmg bios flashed. Sometimes the flexikey app starts but keyboard stays blue anyway. After opening the app colors switches instant.
Maybe my system shuts down to fast so the apps cant close properly? Anybody got the same problem?

Thank again for the help from you all. Just an update, Sager ended up replacing my motherboard, that is all the info I got. Shipping back this weekend I'll let you know if most the issues are absent once I can start testing it.
