80C is the default target temp for the GPU so that's fine.

Whether it's performing good/bad depends entirely on your ambient temperature and GPU clocks at 80c though.

I see in the BIOS 2 files (one of 8MB and one of 6MB). Which one have you used?

Thanks. Used those, and everything seems to be working well.

    8 and 6MB? I used the 14MB Bios and 2.8MB EC from here https://www.mysn.de/driver/XMG/XMG_P507_P707/BIOS/

Flashed to latest BIOS using Obsidian Tool from Obsidian PC (where I got my unit).
Pretty nifty tool, flashing BIOS and EC was a breeze. Random pulsating fan behaviour seems to be a thing of the past!

What's the best nvidia driver version for the 1060gtx 6gb on the rp6-g?
I have the latest and it works good, but I still have lots of issues getting gsync to work at all. It's not syncing at all and just ads more lag...

    Hey guys.

Anyone knows if the output of HDMI or the mini DisplayPorts is always through the NVidia card? No way to get it to use the Intel?

Also, do you know if it's possible to use a USB-C to HDMI adapter to extend the display.

(My unit is a P650RP-6, the 1060 one)

    Thanks in advance!

Nice nice, it took my a great deal of time to make that BIOS flasher section in my app, i don´t get many feedback on that tab, glad it´s being useful.
Btw i was bored and wanted to code something new so im now making a tab where you can add nifty pretty Widget style thinggies to your Windows 10 desktop, stuff like CPU Usage, RAM Usage, Network Traffic, stuff like that. In this new tab i will go on adding all sorts of stuff, my final goal is to go as far as maybe some fan control, fingers crossed!

Hi John! I'm the same who wrote that "tutorial" (if one can call it that) in the obsidian-pc forum on how to completely turn off the NVidia card on Linux.

If you take a look at my previous post #5369 you'll understand why I'm asking that. As of right now I'm unable to use an external monitor in those conditions, that's why I wanted to know if any of the DisplayPorts makes use of the Intel card.

Do you know anything about it?
Also, is any of the USB-C ports video enable? I'm assuming it's not but you never know :|

(I already borrowed a mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter and I'll try again when I can. I'll leave feedback later in any case)

    I
I was under the impression that the DP Ports are connected to the NVIDIA card.
Nop you wont get Video from the USB-C sorry.
You tutorial is awesome. I wish i had more time, i think one could probably code a NVIDIA / INTEL switch for these damn things, even a simple one that requires a reboot, you pretty much already did that... maybe just make a eacy access gui, maybe even a taskbar widget or something.

Your app is awesome. Works great, its simple but quite complete.
If you managed to add 'verified' drivers or recommended ones for max performance it would be even better.

Market it more, give it more emphasis on Obsidian's webpage, it's a GREAT selling point and a clear competitive advantage!

Not that Obsidian doesn't already kick ass when it comes to customer support :D

Same issue a few weeks ago. Every time I tried to play a graphically intense game the screen would flicker and go black. Then if I waited Iit would go back to windows screen. Drivers would be uninstalled and the 1070 wouldn't show up anywhere. Also despite the bios being set to discrete mode cc showed it as mshybrid. Sent it in and been going fine now for a few weeks...let's hope it stays that way :/

Yea I posted my symptoms here and meeker from sager recommended I send it in for rma. Only took about a week from when they received it for me to get it back, and that was over a holiday weekend. Still, hope most people don't have to deal with it

Well, I already tried it. You were right. The output always comes from the NVIDIA card from all ports.

As, of right now I'm only able to use a second monitor correctly if I have the NVIDIA drivers installed (nvidia-378) and the graphics card set to DISCRETE mode.
In HYBRID mode the resolutions get all buggy with the external screen overlapping part of the built in screen. Also, the output on the built in screen is very laggy under these conditions.
Independent of the mode (DISCRETE/NVIDIA) if I don't have the NVIDIA drivers installed I can't get any output at all on the external monitor. Open source nouveau drivers won't make it either.

If I wasn't a software developer/computer science student I would've quit on this a long time ago, but I really don't enjoy developing on Windows.
I guess I'll try to come up with a few scripts so I can quickly change to a mode where the NVIDIA card is turned off for when I'm on the road.

Intel WiDi would do a 2nd display if the IGP is enabled.

Not sure what you mean. By Intel WiDi you mean Wireless Display, right? That's now been "replaced" by miracast as a standard, am I correct?
But for that to work don't you need a second device to act as a receiver connect to the external monitor? I actually have an android box with miracast suport but I haven't managed to get miracast working on Linux (Ubuntu 16.10 to be precise).

Anyway, I've managed to get a working configuration for my specific problem. I can now just run a simple script to switch between a setup that I use when in DISCRETE mode and other to use when on the go with HYBRID mode.

It's a bummer that I can't also automate the change between those modes. I have to access the BIOS/UEFI settings a manually change them.
Do you guys know I there's any way to automate that?

Have anyone had issue with clevo p650rp6-g freezing (black screen and no feedback) randomly (especially during copying files to external hdd via usb)? I had also few BSoD (one was probably nvmlddmkm.sys). I have no idea if I should return this notebook or maybe this issue is easy to fix.

    PS. all drivers are up-to-date; os is win10x64 installed on kingston SM2280S3G2;
    flexicharge-enabled; mshybrid mode on;

I have same problem. Did you manage to fix it?

If you have Clevo CC installed, you can change it from there but a reboot is required. At least you don't have to enter BIOS though.

I had the same problem and tried to find solutions online but nothing worked and everything pointed to a dying GPU. I sent it back to Sager and they replaced my mobo and it's working well now, so I would recommend you just fill out an RMA request.

Sorry. You read my reply a bit out of context. I'm asking it for Linux.

On Windows I do have it installed and I was already aware of that. That's why I'm asking if anyone knows how to port a similar behavior to Linux, so I can include it on my script.

Seems quite a few of us are having this issue and an RMA is the only option for a fix as I'll be doing soon too. It's an odd and specific problem, I've never had a GPU fail in such a way before. I wonder what causes it.

Guys, why can't set pure red, green or blue in colour picker... FE when I try to set red I can only set R:255 G:0 B:35, no pure red...

I mean, ofc, CCC flexikey colour picker.

After update from stock bios to XMG one I observed 2 things:
    1) in BIOS the VBIOS revision decreased from 86.06.18.00.05 to 86.06.18.00.03
    2) on XMG website they advise to enable UEFI before installing win8/10 otherwise the laptop will malfunction.
I installed the windows with uefi disabled, not if I change it it asks to select proper boot device and does not boot. But I have not observer any problem either without UEFI.

    Any comment on these?

I might do that, and I will test also the "win 10 backup tool" which seems to be a decent feature. In the beginning, when I ordered the laptop, the model was brand new and there were several BIOS updates, where I had to disable the UEFI. Now since the things calmed down, I might reinstall with UEFI enabled and leave it like this.

There is no harm in flipping UEFI back off to do an update if you need to.

Guys, need help. All of a sudden I can't display anything on my external monitor (hdtv). It's detected, but no signal comes. No prob with cable, I already tested with another laptop. Tried Duplicate, Extend, Second Screen, no avail.
Also tried different driver version, clean install.

Edit: thru HDMI, haven't tested displayport. Tried System Restore, still no signal.

So just giving an update for my RMA (Continuous black screen when booting):

The tech at HIDevolution offered this message:
"I tried updating the BIOS and everything else that I could, but the issue is still there. I also tried using some of our components like ram and storage but it was still happening. All that is left is for us to send it to distributor for repair, it will most likely be a motherboard issue. I will let you know when we receive it back from them."

Looks like they had to send it back to the distributor, RIP my waiting time :c

I installed freshest SAGER bios. It works like a charm and has lots of options. With XMG latest EC flexicharger, n stuff works well.

Also it has cool options inside
