plz guys i need your help with a little and really easy test:

    - change the graphics settings in BIOS under Advanced > Advanced Chipset Control to "MSHybrid"
    - start Nvidia Inspector and look around in the program

are you getting "flickering values" example for temperature etc... and a blue screen after some moments?

(i attach 3 screenshots showing how it looks under Dedicated & Hybrid (missing values - screen taken some moments before BSOD) and the Bluescreen)

if i boot up with "Dedicated" setting (GTX 1070 only) in BIOS everything is working normal when i start Nvidia Inspector i can look around, make settings and no Bluescreen is happening - only under "Hybrid-Mode (GTX 1070 & Intel HD 630)"

I really need to know if this is normal or i need to RMA

    thanks Johnny

Is it only happening with nvidia inspector? Sounds like a bug with the program if so.

    thanks Meaker for your reply!

with nvidia inspector its the easiest way to reproduce the bluescreen.
I don't have many games on the laptop that force the GTX (and switch between iGPU & dGPU) so i can't say for sure if its happening with games also.

Thats my problem that i don't know if its a nvidia inspector bug or if the laptop has a defect and i need to RMA.

maybe can you test it on a model with the same configuration as mine please? (7820HK CPU, 1070 GTX i think thats your NP8177 model listed on your HP)

(i have updated BIOS, GPU Drivers, Win 10, replaced RAM, with PSU and battery only and the bluescreen is always happening when i start Nvidia inspector and waiting some moments under msHybrid-mode)

    thanks a lot Johnny

Nvidia inspector has a lot of hooks into the drivers so could cause a lot of issues if it messes up at all. Try re-downloading it and updating your GPU drivers.

Grabbing a machine and testing it at this point would be chasing around a potentially very simple issue.

thanks Meaker for your answer, but i have updated both GPU drivers (nvidia & Intel hd)- also tried an older version of the inspector getting the BSOD

Right throw free benchmarks at it then like the new super position one and 3dmark. The fancier the feature set the better.

i tried some benchmarks with no BSOD...
the only sure way to reproduce the bluescreen i know is with nvidia inspector - i dont have many games on my Laptop and so i cant test it with games... and with these i tested, it also worked without getting a bluescreen...

I think ist happing when Nvidia Inspector forces the GPU... plz someone test it out...

I don't fully understand what do you mean, so i just activated every option on display using afterburner. GPU/CPU never gets close to high load, RAM never gets close to max usage, power/temp/voltage limit is always at 0... but fps are never steady at 60, they go up and down between 30 and 60. What am I doing wrong?

Can you try GPU-Z as well? They have similar probe methods.

If benchmarks run then I'm thinking your problem is more likely software related. I'd first start with DDU and latest drivers. Then checking the windows install for errors ("SFC /scannow" in Administrator Command Prompt).

    Hi guys,

Do you know what memory brands Sager typically uses in their laptops ? On website it says DDR4 2400Mhz, but no indication of brand or timing.
If you recently bought a Clevo P650x/P670x, what modules did you get with it (assuming it was not upgraded by reseller)?
I am still not sure if it is better to order P670 with 8Gb and buy 32Gb RAM separately (more expensive, but well known brands and timings) or to order 32Gb (2x16) from Sager (cheaper).

    thx Stooj for your reply!

i tried GPU-Z and no BSOD is happening - but under Hybrid Mode - i see also some flickering values ..... when i boot up using Discrete (Nvidia GTX only), there are no flickering values...

    SFC command reports no errors...

Why is the P65xRS slower in gaming than the P65xHS? In games it`s often 5-15% slower. I have read a lot of tests and I dont understand this. Is it the slightly faster ram-speed (2133 vs 2400). Motherboard is the same I guess or is it different? Is GPU overclocked in HS? I know that improved drivers cant account for all. In timespy for instance the RS, even With 6820HK gets around 5000-5100 Points, the HS With 7700HQ which is a slower CPU gets 5300-5400. In some games the difference is higher. Anyone got ideas? :)

i think its because 6820HK is running on 4 cores with 3,2 GHz (with no OC) and the 7700HQ with 3,4 GHz and you also get some more points if you have more RAM in, maybe also faster one...

Hello to everyone. This is my first post, but I have been reading for a full month about the issue that I came on. Have read about 400+ pages of this thread :D, and got a conclusion finally.

I've been getting the nvldmkm.sys TDR errors. First I'm come that it was with Nvidia, but after studying and readings about this issue, got 100% conclusion that its made from hardware. 95% I could split to motherboard. Had fun with this laptop about 3-4 months. now I have it for about 6 months. I have been given it to fix for professionals, but they have only founded that its MAYBE in hardware and they haven't found the fault. I think I will try to search for some extra professionals in my country who maybe could get a fix of my main-board. I have contacted the PC SPECIALIST support for any help of drivers for help when I have been searching for this issue, but the answer was that I need to transfer the warranty from person from who I have bought that laptop. But the problem is that I cant find the seller and I cant get the warranty or any help from PC SPECIALIST. I have bought the laptop as new but by the person. It have been working for about 3-4 months. have been using only 2-4 hour a day (almost all time working), haven't owerchiped or done any stupid and unnecessary things to that beautiful machine, but got faulty mainboard. fking situation. and What I should do next ? :D. Trow it to garbage?

I have done all thinks that I could do. Reinstalled even about 12 times windows. I have been so many experiments on different drivers and everything that I haven't done only BIOS reinstalling. I'm keeping those as original, just not to get extra error or some extra ways for the conclusion. Been using many softwares, and have done all steps that I found on the months of exploration. I could honestly say that its hardware 99.99%, but I dont realy dont have energy to say 99% that its on mainboard, but maybe I could give to it about 70%, but anyway, please SOMEONE...... H E L P .. M E ...

Do anybody know from where I could maybe buy mainboard for CLEVO P650RS-G model. ?

P.S. The link below is the instructions that I have been done before I have been figured this post before :D. I see that this guy have been fixed the problem, but I think its because it was same error but difference source and different symptoms.

    forums (DOT) geforce (DOT) com/default/topic/993738/geforce-drivers/-fix-tdr-errors-and-display-driver-nvlddmkm-stopped

Sorry for the link of (DOT)s, I cant post it, but I'm posting it not for comercial, but just for information and kindness for thous who will to fight with this fault that I got into in.(DOT = ".")

My symptoms in Event view of laptop was:

    1. Kernel error (not shooting down normal pc) - maybe its not related to this, but I have been got it. Bios ware 1.05.02 or something like that (now my pc is in experts lab, Will edit when got it).
    2. nvldmkm.sys error . bought on Intel or on Nvidia. Older drivers sometimes could keep games on, even when pc is on some warmer stage maybe? I don't really know.... But I know that if laptop is turned on in the morning and I just pressing to play the game, it get crash easily and in begging in on the logo or logging account screen (on mmrgpg game). But when pc is hotter sometimes I could play even 30 mins until crash. Using 368.83 or 375 drivers. In newer drivers 381. I coud get error even faster. I get Blue crash screen of this error on MSHybrid mode, but on some Discrete mode, I could get flickering sreen. Got sometimes strange flouting of fans. They keeps spinning faster even I have been using only explorer with 10 tabs, and in not high performance mode.

Could get some more error codes and anything more, but need to take laptop, that have been pain in my ass. I will get tomorrow and will be thinking what to do next. Need ADVICE for me.

If I could buy second gaming laptop, I dont even try Clevo. Thouse boards are not tested, and I think they dont have the rights to sell it even to destibutors-ressellers. Sorry for my bad English, im only human. Feeling desperated, payd 1.2k Eu. its big money for me. Sorry for bad english. Got wishkey half of bottle todey, just when I get news from PC service taht it ware undentified fault.

Thinking about help of some support from other reselers of clevo systems. PC Specialist want some stupid varanty that I cant get from other peson, but the system is from them, the difference is that I HAVE IT. What will be of syster or some other family member buy it and if someone dies. In that situation, dead person can'r transfer the varanty :D.

Living in europe, shipping overseas as USA or Asia wont be good idea. Would like to know who could help me.

my CPU (7820HK) often throttles down to multiplier 29 (disables Turbo) when playing games - what can i do? which settings in BIOS or XTU or throttlestop can prevent this?

you could set an undervolt (if not done yet) in the FIVR tab. For CPU Core and Cache -> Offset Voltage - i would start with -50mV if thats fine -75mV and then in little steps of -5mV further. If the undervolt was too much the system will get unstable and may freeze or you may get bluescreens. Then just power off - power on again and set a milder undervolt.... every machine is individual so you might not be able to archieve the same settings that other people could reach...

how hot does it get - if it gets to the high 90 degrees (94-99) you could use FN+1 for max FAN speed. If still gets really hot you could repaste or check for dust in the cooling system or maybe check with your reseller - some Clevos have bend heatsinks which results in always high temps (sometimes the quality control of these heatsinks is not the best)....

you can find this out with the limit reasons tool (start it through throttlestop) and click each checkbox once to clear old values....

Yes, best way is too look at throttle reasons for either CPU or GPU usually to start tracking down an issue.

how hot is your GPU at this moment? Maybe if its too hot and BD-Prochot is checked - this may slow down the CPU too.... You might uncheck the checkbox and have a look if it gets better.

but HWinfo shows a max of 85 degrees, so i don't think its BD-Prochot (isn't the threshold for it 95 degrees?)

i would suggest you post your problem in the throttlestop thread here in the forum - unclewebb is a pro and will tell you your reasons soon if you feed him with screenshots etc... i think there were some laptops that take down the turbo as soon as dGPU is used.... But these were not Clevos as i remember....

What's the latest BIOS and EC for my P650RP6? I saw from Obsidian Tool they have 1.05.09SiO which has the SpeedShift and other additional options. I have the 1.05.09 from XMG which has not been updated since Feb 9, 2017.
Additional: Guys, Gsync still doesn't work with Vsync Off in NVCP (bottom screen tearing) with any drivers I tested... But I noticed something if I game on battery power. At first there will be tearing, but as soon as I alt-tab out and get back to the game, everything will be smooth (no tearing whatsoever) with FPS automatically capped to 60 w/o using any fps limiter. If I plug-in the AC, the fps would exceed monitor hz (60) and I lose Gsync. Can anybody explain?
    Thanks as always guys!

Hi sadnambo, the problem you described is similar to what I experienced earlier in the year. I can confirm to you that there is a hardware problem: power supply to the GPU.

I got mine through Larry at LPC-Digital (great customer service). I shipped my laptop back back to Sager service center at US (it was not cheap). Larry told me that Sager replaced the "chip assembly" in the motherboard that "monitored the power going to the GPU". I just got it back from the US about 2 weeks ago and so far the laptop is great. I ran Heaven Benchmark to check the GPU. The benchmark results are consistent with HTWingNut review ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/sager-np8153-clevo-p650rs-review-by-htwingnut.798355/)

I would recommend you to check the power supply to GPU using HWMonitor and GPU-Z, specifically look at the core clock and memory clock, and VDDC. During my troubleshooting, I noticed these 3 variables kept changing up and down like crazy.

In short, you probably just need to replace the "chip assembly" instead of the entire mainboard. (Note: I popped open my laptop when I received it. I could not tell what they replaced). You may need to contact a reseller to get the part.

    Hope this helps.

Hey all, anxiously awaiting my P650RS-G that I ordered through HID. I got the GeForce 1070 and an i7-6820HK. Never overclocked, but I thought this would give me the option if the CPU started showing its age a couple years from now.

Trying to read through this whole forum, but man it's a long one. Any tips or guides that y'all recommend is welcome. Look forward to joining in on conversations in the future.

Thanks, I still have an older Cooler Master NotePal U2. The fans bit the dust a long time ago, but I still use it to prop up the back. I typically have the laptop on a wooden lap desk and on the cooling pad. I could get some new fans if I needed them I guess.

Are there better fans that I can clip on that will make a difference. Hopefully I won't need the fans, but nice to know. I got HID to put on liquid metal on the CPU and ICD on the GPU.

12v fans but you will need 12v power adapter. Opt for high pressure and high airflow. Vardar 12v fans is very good.

I am using a $10 targus 2 fan USB cooler. With it running below I can see a 2-3C diff when gaming. More powerful fans can probably help the situation more. But I read somewhere that powerful fans may instead disturb the actual airflow within the laptop as designed to work therefore might not benefit. I haven't tested that part. May be other users can weigh in on that.

    Hi Guys,

I've splurged on a Dell S2716DG 27" monitor for my P650RS-G. I'm currently running over HDMI, but will switch to DisplayPort as soon as I get a cable adapter.
However I'm not getting any sound over the HDMI, I can select the monitor as a playback device (Nvidia high definition audio) but when I do, no sound. Any ideas?
Will I have the same issue with the display port?

I move back and forth between home and work, and would like to minimise the number of cables I have to plug in at each site... I also suspect that the speakers in the screen, although not brilliant, will be better than those in the laptop...

update - I've now connected via a mini-displayport to Displayport cable, great picture at 144hz, but still no sound?

I'm installing 140mm Corsair magnetic levitation fans into mine with an aqueaero control unit and RGB lighting because it's 2017 (and I had the controller and strip spare :p)

I'd like to see that setup when you get it finished. Are you mounting them to a cooling pad?

    Yes this old thing:

    http://www.coolermaster.com/mobile/notepal-series/notepal-u-stand/

Cutting holes in the top plate and putting a high airflow grill over the top. I'm using the lower holes to mount the fan and LED control units.

Hey all, considering going the Sager route for a portable desktop kinda idea, and wanted to ask how does the build quality compare to the competition? Saw holes in the keys a few pages back, and poster saying it only took him 4 months to bust them in doesn't really sound too sturdy...

The chassis itself is pretty solid, the keycaps are layered onto the key itself, most people have been ok with the keyboards so far.

Hmm, having significant issues on my P650RS-G since installing the windows10 creators update. Everything is significantly slower to open, games are stuttering frequently, some have massive fps drops.

Worse, it seems you can't uninstall this update after 10 days! good job ms...

I'm considering rolling back to Windows 7, maybe it will also help with the no sound over displayport or hdmi too. I have a vague memory of a discussion about installing Windows7 a way back, but I don't have time to wade through 500 pages, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

That sucks. I have been wary of Win ever since win8. Win10 albeit fast is historically the most stupid OS, does whatever it wants without even asking the user whether its an update or personal data telemetry. Tbh I like win 8.1 so far - fast and does most of the job right. 8.1 boots way faster than 7 plus most softwares are now compatible with 8.1 and upwards for futureproofing.

Go back to anniversary update and use the defer option in windows update.

I wish I could, apparently ms take the rollback option away after 10 days, which I just discovered! My only option is a full reinstall :-(

I always rely on my own disk image for any restores because of shenanigans like that.
