Recently after installed Creator Update, my Clevo P650RS-G keep BSOD when running game. Now I reformat back to Anniversary Update but I cannot run the game anymore. The game will just turn into black and freeze. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Is this issue related to old bios version or nvram issue?

be in touch with me for complete instructions.

I am kinda lazy to make a full post about it.

When Creators update was released, I spent 4 days trying to figure out WHAT DA F... was wrong with it and ultimately reverted my laptop to win 7 SP1.

Btw my Clevo P650RS-G BIOS version is still 1.05.05 instead of latest 1.05.07. Is that my old bios version causes Nvidia Geforce 1070 cannot function properly?

Hey so this is a question probably mostly for @Meaker@Sager but if anyone knows I'd love an answer...

If I wanted to replace the back panel of the LCD can that be done? Like switch out a logo'd panel for a blank one?

Yeah I repasted with Coolaboratory Liquid Pro. About an average delta of 18C cooler under load.

Hi! Thanks! I also repasted it these days with conductonaut. So far quite good. It became more silent in idle and the spinning up of the fans stopped finally.

Update for anyone interested : After a complete reinstall of Windows 10, I installed all the updates except the creators one. I'm still having odd issues, specfically, some games are extremely slow at higher resolutions. But bizarrely Ive now discovered some very odd facts, that I'm completely at a loss to explain.

Witcher 3 runs at about 30 fps on the built in 4k screen.
It runs at about 50 fps on my 144hz 2k external screen, but with outrageous lag whenever I enter a menu??? it literally takes 3 or 4 seconds to change pages in the inventory. Most bizarre.

7days to die. runs at about 60 fps on the built in 4k screen.
Is unplayable on the 2k screen, but the fps counter shows 60+fps. Its like massive stutter rather than low fps.
I tried setting the same 2k resolution on the internal screen and its smooth as butter! so I thought it must be something with the Displayport?

I'm now at work, and Witcher3 is smooth as butter on my 1920p external screen, using hdmi. and weirdly the menus are smooth and no delays.
I'll test this on the 2k screen when I get home, but i'm limited to 60hz on hdmi, whereas I can go to 144 with displayport.

I'm now utterly confused as to what is going on. Hoping for some tips on installing Windows7 to see if that resolves things.

FWIW, the screen I have at home is a brand new Dell 2716DG. my P650RS-G has 3 SSD drives, and 32gb of ram.

Ok, so I didn't get much time to test at home, but...

it seems to be Gsync. If I turn it off, the menu lag in Witcher3 is instantly gone, but I get horrific tearing and it's unplayable :(
using the built in laptop screen, 4k but also with gsync. No tearing and no menu lag...

    can anyone help?

Still more problem . . . now the Style Note (bios) start session gets total black before w10 goes to login page .

Overal review of my unit :
After much love for my P170EM i upgraded to P650RS . . . . But yes the CPUandGPU and the IPS screen is amazing good .. , but rest is a big let down . . . bios problems . speakers have rattling sound , key paints are fainting off , Killer LAN wifi maxout 1mbits , spacebar get burning hot when gaming , After having the 6700k in sleep mode the cpu givs me lags in w10 so need to reboot, and weekly BSOD, Overall build quality feels cheaper made then P170EM. . this will be my last Clevo i will buying.

i have 17inch model this is quite strange i have non of those problems now.

had in the beginig these problems
    1. high temps
    2. touchpad not working from time to time
    3. bsods
    4. freeze in game and bsods
    5. sound problems

but now all is gone at the moment.
    1. temps solved with re pasting with grizzly kryonaut and undervolting
now on proper air intake my cpu and gpu on 100% load doesnt go higher than 72
    2. touch pad seemed to stop working if wireless mouse was connected while booting or waking up so just disconnecting it fixed the problem
    3. fresh windows install drivers only from clevo no windows
    4. re pasting + fresh windows + fresh drivers
    5. new drivers

also love the solid quality + keys are good no painting loss dont even know how it can go off

I also have really terrible performance and lots of issues since the creators update. I'm backing up and probably tomorrow will do a clean restart. Games are pretty unplayable with massive stuttering and fps drops

I heard turning off "game mode" and removing game mode apps such as dvd etc stopped game issues in creators edition. Just putting it out there, I haven't tested it.

My OS just notified me of automated creator installations in coming days...hoping I don't have a broken laptop by next weekend.

Hi everyone, my laptop will be coming tomorrow or Thursday!! :D

Just a question for those undervolting. The laptop was tested and undervolted with Intel XTU. Is it still recommended that I do an NVRAM reset and undervolt with obsidian tool CCC and throttlestop? Thanks!

If u find abnormal fan behaviour or high temps then you can think of removing xtu and getting throttlestop after nvram reset and control center installations.

What would you say is abnormal fan behaviour? Such as it going full speed, slow speed, just going max speed all randomly? Or any combination of those?

Go my unit back from sager! New motherboard.. The outer box had sticker for different laptop so I got overly excited for a moment lol

bios is 1.5.0.7 rls2 or w.e but...I already am getting random black screen mid bench or laptop shuts off w.o notice...and gives 3 loud beeps when restarting...

TIM seemed fine, pads were trashed so anyone have thicknesses?

update for those with stuttering gaming issues since creators update.
I've done some more testing and found an unhappy workaround. Bizarrely, the stuttering (which I only get when using an external screen) seems to disappear when I use hdmi to output, it's only present over displayport. This is irritating because I just spent a lot of money on a 2k 144hz screen, and you cant go past 60hz with an hdmi cable.
Still, at least I can now play games.

I'm debating testing a windows 7 installation, but with a 9month old baby, time is not something I have a lot of...

Hey guys, just received the laptop today! I'm thinking of doing an NVRAM reset. I'm getting some way abnormally high temps. I've seen a max of 77 degrees and right now it's high 60's and all I'm doing is downloading games. Also the fans sounds like they're basically at max. I'm not sure if it's cause Windows just started and it's doing something in the background, or the fan tables are just messed up.

Also, do you have a custom fan profile, or do you use automatic? I'm using automatic and it honestly sounds like it's going almost full blast.

Thinking of changing it to custom

Also, my fans seem abnormally loud. I did the NVRAM reset, and I don't think the fan speed is working whatsoever. I feel like it's just running at full blast all the time.

Nvram reset wont. Mine is in auto.

You will have to uninstall CCC. Do nvram reset, then reinstall CCC ver that doesnt have XTU. That should fix. Better to go back into the early pages of P650RS thread and get the actual protocol before trying it.

Yeah, I've done this to not much avail... Are you on msybrid or discrete?

Also my fans are on automatic, and I tried maximum to see what it sounds like, and to me they are basically identical. Can I ask how silent your system is on idle? My fans on automatic stay the rate no matter what I'm doing, whether that be idle or playing games. I would imagine if it was doing nothing, it should be dead silent no, or pretty close?

Edit: Also are you using performance? Or Do you switch when you're idling or doing something not so intensive?

Discrete. However I havent seen much difference in hybrid apart the fact of having way more battery time.

On idle it usually doesnt make noise. Fans ramp up in heavy appl. I usually press fn+1 while gaming for max speed.

Well everyone... I managed to fix it. I went through the trouble of everything, NVRAM reset, installing and uninstalling drivers, multiple restarts etc.

Turns out my fan problem was solved simply by pressing reset... I tested it, and fans are working as I expected them to.

Hopefully any poor fella who experiences the same thing happens upon this comment and fixes their problem.

    Cheers!

Nope~ Just laptop in the orig box entirely barebones. Apparently the orig box fits in the box of newer model. at first I was even confused as to what was done since my M.2 Screws and everything was in same exact spot! but motherboard serial number changed and it works now so hey. (Great detail from techs which is super nice considering MSI has actually lost the M2 screws for an rma once) My only iffy moment is the pads are pretty much toast and never got changed but with thicknesses I can swap those for fujipoly pads anyway.

11 day turn around time alone was extremely unexpected..

So... this creators update is a real pain. I had to do a full clean reinstall of windows and performance is back to normal. However temps and fans are still terrible.

Before the creators I never heard the fans unless I was playing, with temps of 35-40C cpu and about 45 gpu (discrete). Now writting this (only) I have temps of about 50 in both cpu and gpu, and the fans much louder (not max though).

I've been talking with Obsidian, my retailer, and they helped me get my performance back, but I'm not to keen in sending the unit and not having it for a few days. So anyone else have any ideas? I've updated BIOS, reset NVRAM, full windows reinstall, drivers... etc.

I gues it's not a hardware/paste thing, since right before creators update it was totally fine, and right after it's totally messed up. Any ideas?

Das is bad. The OS update might be screwing power requirements etc. I just had my creators done in win auto update. My fans are behaving same. Still looking for any abnormalities..

Hey, I guess this explains my plight too. When I first received the system, the fans were so loud, I knew no way this was normal.

All I've heard from people prior is that this machine was a beast. To be honest, I was quite dissapointed when I first received it the system. No way I spend this much money and right out the box I have several problems, with the fans being so loud.

I have done the same as you, besides the full windows reinstall, is there a way to move to a previous build? I believe Creators update must obviously be the culprit here.

Anyways, if you do have a solution let me know. And this may sound trivial, but have you tried pressing reset when on the system program tab a few times. After that try moving from like performance and entertainment tabs a few times.

I have no idea how it works, but it honestly did for me. Fans are much quieter, and even in Entertainment fans don't ramp up at all hardly.

Still, I believe there is an underlying problem here that I hope is fixed, besides these obvious fan problems it would be perfect for me!

Here's to hoping people have found other solutions.

Found the issue few hours ago~ the main fans next to gpu were unplugged enough to keep fans from spinning up with load! Poor CPU fan was trying to cool entire system without luck.

So I got my first BSOD today, and the error was : syntyp.sys

Apparently that has to do with the synaptics touchpad driver? Just curious if I have the latest one, or if I should revert to an older one. I'm currently on 19.3.4.66.

Also, if anyone has experienced this problem, and was able to find a fix, let me know.

I was playing OW on Ultra, temps were stable at around 70-72 max, and occurred after about 45 minutes ish of play.

Has there been a fix for the acpi.sys issue in discrete mode? Namely, I'm referring to the issue where system (acpi.sys) uses 80-100% of a single CPU core when in Discrete mode and connected to an external monitor. I'm getting this problem now even after a full reinstall. I've browsed these forums and saw it was an issue as recently as February 2017, but haven't read any fixes since. Any updates on this? Do other people have this issue? Thanks!

I was getting same. I disabled synaptics touchpad from device manager.
It works somehow though even being disabled, but after that I got no BSODs.
