Anyone having problems with the fingerprint sensor?

For some reason I have to reset my fingerprints everytime, it's very odd.

Currently I'm using Obsidian Tool to update my drivers and Right now my driver for fingerprint is 3.5.1.0 but the one on the Latest is set as 3.1.12.0

Also, in notifications every time I log in I get this message.

    http://imgur.com/a/8FMNz

For those who can't open it, it says that a Restart is required - Your computer needs to be restarted in order to finish setting up this device:

    Egistech ES603 Swipe Fingerprint sensor.

Obviously, I have already tried resetting :p I'm just curious how I can get this to work, by removing that message and getting it to work, and not reset after every shutdown. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I purchased a Dell S2716DG hooked up via miniDP to DP.. I cannot seem for the life of me, be able to play OW without any microsutters or choppiness.. I set everything to Low and same issue.. I've been messing with vsync and sync, frame limiting.. I still can't make it smooth.. If I play on the built in LCD, it is fine on Medium @150Fps.. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

It seems it is related to Gsync but the same thing happens with Vsync/FastSync. Maybe this 6GB 1060 just can't run OW @ Low settings in 1440P... I find that hard to believe since GOW runs amazing..

So I can get 150fps stable FPS..constant on medium but as soon as I look left or right, microstutters.. I can't figure it out.. settings..drivers..etc..

So HIDevolution sent back my laptop a few weeks ago and fixed my problem with my laptop not being able to boot after having it off overnight, but now my laptop randomly shuts down while I'm playing a game. I'll have to open another RMA, as it looks like they already tried repasting and added some thermal pads throughout the laptop.

    Sigh.

Looks like your laptop is pretty buggy all in all. Is it Obsidian? talk with them over the chat, they're really great with support

My laptop started worked fine again on its own... I'm 100% sure it's some Windows updates thing, but is really annoying...

Hi, I'm having the exact same issue, and have even gone as far as a complete reinstall of windows10, no joy.

What I have discovered is that if I use an hdmi cable, instead of displayport, to connect to the 2716DG, all the problems go away! but of course you cant get 144hz over hdmi.
The stuttering seems to be there whatever resolution or refresh rate I set, when gaming over displayport, regardless of which port on the laptop I use. I've tried different displayport cables, with no joy.
Setting the same resolution on the built in display, or even playing at 4k (built in) is absolutely fine, so it's definitely NOT a performance issue.
I've been trying to install Windows7 to compare, but I'm failing so far due to lack of UEFI and usb3 support. I might just try windows 8.1, purely to have a different OS to test with.

Interestingly, in some games (7 days to die) the stuttering is there all the time, in others (witcher 3) its only when I go into menus or my inventory. Which is why I think it might be software rather than hardware.

I'm at a lost.. I am pretty disappointed. I've tried the same things.. I can't get any external monitor to play nice. Every single one I've tried there is screen tearing or stuttering even on LOW and a smaller resolution. Nothing is 100% smooth but play on the built in display, no issue.
1060 6GB should be able to play OW on Low in 1440P with no issues or in 1080P on med/high with no issues. I'm not really sure where to go from here.

have you tried using an HDMI cable instead of DisplayPort? That seems to work for me, apart from the 60hz cap.

I have tried a HDMI cable at 60Hz and its pretty much the same.. It is def less but it is enough to make playing certain OW characters impossible

Vsync on and off.. limiting framerates.. I just dont get it.. Its almost like the 1060 just can't do an external monitor when any kind of decent movement.

So I set it to 1080P - All low settings, 75% render, no gysnc, frame capped at 60.. Same thing.. Its like playing on 8bit.. either something is wrong with this card or its severely limited

Yeah this was fixed with a BIOS update around the start of the year. Not an "official" BIOS update for most manufacturers, though. Which basically meant that you had to seek it out and do the update on your own. These days I have no idea what the latest BIOS we should be using is. There was supposed to be a Prema BIOS in the works that would be superior to others but as far as I know it's not out yet.

Sadly yes. Some P7XX and P8XX already have Prema BIOS which is fixing their problem while we are still waiting for P6XXRS/RP not to mention HS/HP ones. This hard to not think we are screwed... For example i now i'm stuck dysfunctional HK CPU and not working 3000 MHz RAM... I hope he plan to release this soon to his partners who will distribute it to us...
His bios for Maxwell P6XX was great but we need his skill to fix RS/HS ones too...

Ok, so today I installed windows 8.1 on my second SSD, once I got the basic drivers installed, I installed Witcher 3, and connected my external monitor via Displayport... The stuttering in Witcher3 was gone completely!
Now I used the oldest drivers from the Nvidia site deliberately, 376.19
Next I went back to my Windows 10 installation, removed the current nvidia drivers, and installed 376.19 doing a "clean" installation. Happy to report that Witcher3 is now running smoothly on the external monitor with Displayport.
I also tried KillingFloor2, slower than normal load screens, but the game itself was absolutely fine.
7daystodie still has hideous unplayable stutter, although it's reporting over 100fps. But that game is in beta anyway... Curious that it's absolutely fine at 4k on the built in screen though...

I might try installing 7days on the win8 installation when I get back to work tomorrow, but this has eaten up so much time already, i'm considering calling it "good enough" for now. Still need to test some other games I suppose.

Wow... I can roll back and see what happens. That is my weird issue, I can rock FPS... literally anywhere 100-200 in OW but I can't look left or right smoothly.. just choppy as can be..

I went back to 372, same issue, just upgraded back to 382.05

Hmm, sorry it hasn't worked for you, FWIW I have also cleared off the overclocking software that came with earlier versions of the Clevo Control Centre software, it's mentioned earlier in this forum, you have to clear something in the bios too. Have you done that? Finally, have you updated the motherboard bios to the latest version, and the EC bios? My bios is 1.05.07

I didn't see any other bios for my build. I'll need to look again. I'll remove the overclock software as well. I do have the latest Control Center installed. Removing now..
The bios I have is 1.05.01 -- Eluktronics P650RP6 is my build

removed CC -- Tried Paladins.. plays perfect.. 1440P everything maxed out.. 140FPS..

Now I'm going to try OW and see how it goes..

sounds good, I have the p650RS-g, so my bios version might be slightly different from you, but I remember from this forum (months ago though) that there are a lot of fixes in the bios updates, I would definitely recommend getting the latest bios for your RP6 from Eluktronics.

FWIW, I actually had to get my bios update from a different vendor, as the one I used is hopeless for support, but I can't "recommend" this to you ;)

The clearing in the bios I mentioned is resetting the NVRAM, see here : http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...8153-s-np8152-s-owners-lounge.795090/page-532

I'll have to reach out to Eluktronics for a bios update, they do not have any listed on their site. OW plays better, everything on medium and 1440p but the jerkiness is still there, even with 100-130fps. I'll have to lower it to Low again and try setting the fps cap at 134fps. I don't get it, it seems every other game plays great.

I did do the NVRAM reset and the only change I made is putting the 1060 in discrete mode, I don't use Hybrid. Now my monitor is flickering like crazy, I recall this happening before with this dell @ 144hz. Just can't win.

hmm I don't suppose you have a different external screen to test with? I don't have any issues with my external screen at work, but it's a basic hdmi model with a 60hz hard cap...

Only other thing I can think to suggest is to get the Obsidian Tool, thats a utility from Obsidian (a reseller) that will automatically check for (and download) the latest drivers and bios. I use it on my P650RSG, even though I didn't get it from Obisidian (I did the bios update manually from Eurocom's website, again, not where I bought from). www.obsidian-pc.com

I'll give it a shot and see. But yes it happens with different screens(Dell(144hz) and HP(60hz). I'm going to swap this Dell with the same one I have at home and see if it happens.

Well everything is updated except the bios.. Smae thing.. everything on low and 1440p, horrible screen tearing and jerkiness @ 140fps constant. Only in overwatch, I don't understand it. Guess I'm stuck playing on my attached LCD and not a monitor.. Crappy.. very crappy.

If you have a spare disk and a copy of windows 8.1, try installing that, bizarrely my fps issues go away when running that OS, it's just a problem for work.

The most stable windows version EVER is win 7 SP1....

I am using it on my P650RS-G without any issues. Everything is normal and I don't have to face anything unexpected after windows updates.

It took me a few months before I could use win 7 in uefi mode and find correct drivers.

I know win 10 would make this laptop with Samsung 950 faster but I can live with my win 7 knowing nothing can touch this baby and its rock-solid

    fully-functional and glitch-free performance. :) :) :)

My wishes after having this laptop for 7 month:

1- Wish it had better sound like my HP dv6-7000( oh I miss beats sound on my ex-laptop)

2- Wish it had a 2K IPS screen instead of current 1080 one..

3- Wish it had a single Thunderboalt 3 port.

4- Wish it could be a bit lighter to carry around...

But this laptop benefits from something that no other offers:

The ability to chose Discrete and Hybrid modes + G-sync mode makes my gaming awesome at home and working on-the-go somehow long

    and productive enough. :D :D

    Hey everyone,

I believe I still have some fan table problems unfortunately :( Can anyone tell me if they experience similar problems?

    For reference my info:

    BIOS - 1.05.05TEU

    EC Firmware - 1.05.03

Currently have the Eurocom sky mx5 r2 (p650rs-G equivalent), not sure if any other specs are relevant, but if they are please let me know!

I've already done an NVRAM reset, I'm willing to do it more times, but at this point, and from what I've read, I believe it is my EC firmware that perhaps is the culprit?

So the situation is my fans just simply do not work well. What I mostly do for games is in CCC I switch to Performance, set to auto and if I want to drop the temps, I set the fans to max. No problems there. It's when it comes to idling or simple web browsing, these fans are driving me insane. If I switch to Entertainment mode and set it to custom I swear it only works half the times. For like a random period of time it'll be dead silent, exactly how I would expect it to be if I'm not doing anything. But then for another random period of time, the fans will ramp up while doing the exact same idling and web browsing. Does anyone else suffer from the same situation?? It's quite annoying, and I usually have to do some hacky stuff like switch between modes, set the fans to max for a couple seconds and sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't.

Just a mini rant, I would expect that these fans would just work out the box but all this trouble shooting for something as "simple" as fans have given me quite the headache!

Suffering from the same exact issue here, the machine is simply way tooo noisy and unbearable. So much so that I'm considering returning it. The light bleed is also annoying, but not as bad as they noisy fan. This is turning out to be one of the worst purchases I ever made, really hope I can return it or just get it fixed.

Do you guys run your GPU discrete mode? I mean for the NVIDIA GPU....
If yes set it to MSHybrid in CCC or directly in the BIOS and check it again... Discrete keeps the dGPU active all the time....

My CCC seems to be bugged so I genuinely have no idea, which button do you use to enter the BIOS? Tried F2, didn't work.

Yes it's currently using Discrete Mode.

I will try MSHybrid, but there are some cons such as no G-sync (I could be wrong though). But honestly, for the money I spent, this machine should be coming out damn near perfect I would hope. Everything is fine except for the fans and below average speakers. If I could fix these fan tables I would be so happy.

Besides, I'm pretty sure it's either CCC or EC firmware. Custom fan profile does not work like at ALL. The only thing it's good at doing is sometimes it'll be dead quiet like I'll expect it to during idle, but then randomly ramp up to near max speeds while doing the same thing.

It's honestly getting tiresome, hopefully MSHbyrid alleviates some fan noise. But if my fans are going to ramp up and down in idle, there's gotta be some changes...

Agreed, I'm hoping MSHybrd alleviates some stuff, but honestly, I've never heard worse fans when simple idling is going on. I'm sure it's an EC or CCC problem though. Every video I watched has mentioned they are dead silent when they are doing simple web browsing.

I do want this fixed cause it is an absolute beast otherwise, it's just I can't believe "simple" things like fans are not working...

for me the MSHybrid with CCC set to entertainment is completely silent during Youtube - or watching movies etc (with -150mV undervolt for CPU Core+Cache and -100mV for the iGPU with throttlestop).....

Turn on discrete only for gaming (to get G-Sync) - reboot and play (have fun) switch back to MSHybrid and reboot after you have finished gaming....

One thing - each time you switch the mode - you windows will initialize the GPUs after startup and it will install the "new" hardware in background. So it may take 1 minute or 2 untill the GPU drivers are available.

You should not use Overclock in CCC (based on XTU) because it may mess your fan profiles and can only be fixed after NVRAM reset.

Use the CCC version from the Obsidian tool with diabled XTU and use throttlestop instead to undervolt/OC ;-)

Same here, hybrid mode works like a charm. With power saving on (which I always have on when I'm not gaming or doing anything serious) it's not dead quiet like my MBR 13" but it keeps the fan running at a respectable speed. Regardless, I hope PCSpecialist can do something about the backlight bleed.

Can I ask what Tab you're using? I.e. Performance or Entertainment. Also which fan speed do you set yours to? I'm using Automatic, cause custom I swear does not work for the life of me.

Automatic Quiet on Hybrid + Power saving. Custom seems to be high and doesn't really want to work for some reason with fans blazing away at random periods, but I couldn't care less if auto stays silent while I code and/or watch youtube.

Also, one really weird thing I have noticed is that the GPU "ticks" when the fan is off in custom mode, really strange gonna have to figure it out.

Well, looks like MSHybrid is the solution for now I suppose. Fans work fine, gaming remains the same, so I suppose only reason to switch back to Discrete is for G-sync, unfortunate, but I guess with how fast this system boots it's not really a problem.

So I suppose to anyone having major fan troubles, try MSHybrid as per @AndiiiHD . Seems that Me and @Castdeath97 have had some success with the fans while switching to this mode instead of Discrete.

    HI everyone,

in the Clevo Control Centre in the Device Tab, I believe I pressed FlexiAccess(the wifi one) for curiosity sake.

Now I believe everytime I re-log, it automatically turns on. If memory serves me right, it never did this before and always stayed off.

Anyone experience this before, or if there is a way to turn it off permanently? Thank you!

In fact, is there any reason I should actually just keep it on?

Well same thing on my other Dell monitor. I can't downgrade to 8.1 at the moment. This is also my primary work machine. So I'm at a lost for now. Almost every game that runs on Battle.net is affected. Even if I run it without battl.net launcher

I noticed a while ago that my P650RP6-G charges the battery that is designed for 60Wh to 72Wh according to HWiNFO64. My laptop also died once at 10% battery left according to Windows with 10Wh left according to HWiNFO64.
Does anyone know if this can be fixed via a new bios version (currently 1.5.3) because it does a wrong readout? Or is the smart capacity of my battery just faulty and do i need a replacement one?

I guess the first obvious question is, what are you doing in those two hours LOL? Are you normal web browsing, watching youtube, coding, etc?

Second, when you say lower brightness, how low? The way I understand it, brightness levels are not linear. So for some random numbers, 50% brightness compared to like 75% brightness, 75% brightness may use like 1.5x more energy. These numbers aren't real, but the point is the computer may be using alot more energy than you think.

Also, for anecdotal use, I was able to watch 2 hours on netflix pretty easily, full HD, maybe full brightness, I can't remember anymore.

Honestly, I keep this thing plugged in 99% of the time LOL

20%-40% brightness, youtube FHD, 40% volume. Even had it run without audio at times and at 10% brightness for a while, yet barely made it to 2 hours. This seems to irritate me the most since I got this for its advantage over the GL502 at battery life.

Have you turned on the Nvidia activity indicator and made sure the GPU is not being spooled up?

What's the recommended way to configure a custom fan table? I remember hearing it was possible to screw them up somehow.
