How expensive is it usually to get a better panel?

Ive been trying to contact Sager to find that out, even ballpark. But as it stands now since 120hz out of system is like finding a unicorn so probably $200+ range?Xileforce likes this.

Egregious could be either really good or really bad xD

Do those exist for the P650? D:

Lol the modern definition means bad. Older texts will have it being a positive though, so your technically correct.derpsauce likes this.

I plan the same. I just bought a P670RS-G with the 75hz panel and when all the dust around 120hz panels settles, i'll consider the upgrade. If the panels came out with disappointing reponse times and/or colours, i'll just keep this till next notebook with a "8-core CPU, 4K OLED panel and 7nm GPU" or something like that.
I will only receive my laptop tomorrow, do you know if these panels OC anything beyond 75hz? -

 No clue unfortunately
Ill have to see~

I will. Answer any email. My price tho, is 2 cats. Unspecified exchange rate.
I recommend tabby tho, they are easiest to flip for puggles.

I'd like to learn more about the ess sabre DAC. Is it only used when plugging in 3.5 mm headphones? Or are they used with realtek audio drivers/ onyko speakers? Do USB headphones or Bluetooth headphones work with the dac?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -

With regards to Bluetooth and drivers I'm honestly not sure, but it matters to me because of high impedance headphones can be easily driven by the DAC, which means less wires and less stuff attached to make it work (through the 3.5mm that is).

The DAC is used for the internal speakers and jacks. Bluetooth and USB headphones bypass this by their verry nature (they are independent sound devices like HDMI).
The Sabre DACs are features of the desktop models.Anthony Accioly, wkamil and baytotheapple like this. -

The p650rs has both the saber hi-fi DAC and the Texas instruments burr brown dac. Do you know what the burr brown is used for?

Could you clarify the "desktop model" part? I thought these came with the P650RS

I forgot the top end models had it qualified, though they all have amplified outputs to help with high impedance headphones

I have been in contact with Dreammachines.pl and was curious about the possibility for 120Hz screens for P67x models. It seems it is not possible due to manufacturing process limitation by Clevo.
The panel I was interested about was AUO QHD screen. It seems it's AHVA, GSync and 120Hz and that was all they knew..
It is really a tough decision. I want a 2560*1440 better than 75Hz IPS GSync screen in a medium thick laptop like 670 series. There is Aorus of course but it is not even released yet, let alone the typical throttling issues it is known for. 775DM is good but a bit on the heavy side for couch gaming. Any ideas? -

I dont see why it woudnt be possible. Its the same size and gpu. Only if its a cable problem...
 -

I was wondering, considering the 1080p screen of the p65xrx is 30 pin eDP and the 4k screen is 40 pin eDP, does that mean Clevo is using two different boards for ? Or can 30 pin fit in a 40 pin connector ?

Makes sense. What about clevo control center vs xfi mb5 software? Any idea if they conflict? For example if I choose gaming in control center and then gaming again in xfi mb5. Xfi has an equalizer which is nice but maybe control center does everything needed? Pretty lame question I know.

Oh, I thought I might make it over 2hrs.
The other option I considered was an Ultrabook for very light gaming (old games like Morrowind or Kotor2) and maybe I could play those for longer on an xps 13, but in reality I use my laptop much more than my desktop and it's almost always plugged in.

The clevo software is for the CPU/GPU where as the XFi controls sound. -
I always wonder where people game for long periods of time unplugged. I totally get the need for powerful laptops, but I've never understood needing to play somewhere away from power. Well in the U.S. at least, its harder in some other countries I'm sure.

I live 3.5 hours from any major town/city sometimes it's nice to pass time while I sit in the passenger seat. Big wattage power inverters are expensive

Oh I was referring to the different headphone options in the clevo control center (Music, Game, Theater, Direct) being used in tandem with x-fi mb5 -
I can confirm that the P670RP6-G (Sager NP8172) 75Hz Panel overclocks to 100Hz with no issues. Have not tried higher overclocks yet.

Throwing this in too. Overwatch for an hour sustaining 100+ fps created no frame skips but ill have to check with phone.

I was just on JetBlue and they had a power outlet on the plane. I don't know if this is going to become more common but it was great...squish72 likes this. -

I don't know about the 230W adapters, but the Delta 330Ws don't like non-pure-sine and refuse to turn on.
 -
Very nice. I wonder if there is a way to see or test heat, I think I'll investigate what sort of issues *too* high a refresh rate may cause.

Wow, I wasn't aware of the modified sine problem. That looks pretty nasty!
http://electronics.stackexchange.co...er-destroy-damage-the-ac-adapter-for-a-laptop
Are all the planes pumping out this?
The two adapters I used (Dell and HP) seemed to be able to handle it - though I wish there were a way to use DC directly. -

I don't know about all of them, but it wouldn't surprise me. That said, I've used several different AC adapters with modified sine inverters before without issues, but the ADP330 seems to refuse to work with them (at least the two inverters I tested).Last edited: Sep 16, 2016FredSRichardson likes this.

And @Kittys,
I know these panels have normal ips response times (>25ms), so in theory the added hz in OC should not be a big advantage.
Saying that, do you notice improvement with 100hz? In gaming or in regular windows use?
Thanks! -
The response time won't really improve, its more the smoothness that increased hz helps with.

ok guys my P670RS-G is coming .. I will put my hand on it in 4 days.
Therefore I wanted to know the "THINGS TO DO" in order to make it work properly. I made a short list (that I hope you will populate with new things to do), based on what I red in this thread. I would really appreciate if someone could guide me through this process because the following points are obscure to me. Thank you
"THINGS TO DO"
1. Battery settings to decide when start/stop charging
2. Undervolting/overvolting CPU/GPU yes or no. Why?
 -

 1. doesnt work wait for a fix.
2. yes! start with -80mv on cpu.
3. do not install win10 while conntected to the internet or it will mess up your nvidia vga driver
4. upgrade to the latest EC from xmg (unless you have some newer stuff installed) to fix the messy fans.
5. repaste stock heat paste with icD or kryonaut -

doublepost
 -

is as easy as here to take off the heatsink?
Last edited by a moderator: Sep 16, 2016 -

no its more complicated. fans and heatsinks are connected. you need to take the whole heatsing element + fans at once off (cpu AND gpu). but its not that hard. just make photos before, lots of screws need to be remebered.
 -
 gotcha, thanks!
 -

One trick I like to do is to take one or several pieces of paper and stick the screws through in the same shape as their placement in the disassembled system. Also doubles as insurance that you don't lose them.FredSRichardson likes this.

I'm waiting for Xotic to post an update, rather than use some other company's file. Do you think I'll be waiting in vain?
 -

Xotic is not going to post an update. Sagers clevo systems sold by them are built and shipped by sager themselves.

Jw if anyone ordered one from HIDevolution and kept the logo on, got any pictures of it?

Lol me and a friend ordered P650RS's from HIS but we both went with engravings instead. Just shoot Donald or Ted an email, I'm sure they'd show you a pic.
 -

Oh cool! What engravings did you guys get? That sounds cooler actually

Mine is my profile pic. It used to be flashier, I updated it like a month ago to match what my engraving is gonna look like. My friends is like a map or something lol. So mine will be like Apple logo sized, and my friends covers everything, I'm excited to see how they turn out.Last edited: Sep 16, 2016Xileforce likes this.

Hi guys. Ive recently been looking for a relatively thin and light gaming notebook for uni, and to carry me through the next couple years before I buy something more powerful. The NP8152 (GTX 1060) seemed like the perfect machine for the job, but I was hoping people here with some experience may be able to help me answer a few questions. The Canadian dollar is wildly weak (even the most base model of the notebook I can find is $1775, no windows, etc). As such, if you have recommendations on how I can save money in the purchase, I would appreciate it.
- How is the machine in terms of how loud it is when used only for word processing/browsing? (I believe the model Im looking at has some sort of hybrid graphics switch that changes to iGPU, so I assume that would help)
 - How does the screen perform (G-Sync 60Hz 1080p IPS panel)? What are the odds of being able to overclock it?
 - Can anyone link a review produced by a trusted reviewer? It isnt tough to find reviews of notebooks, but I dont have enough experience to tell which would be objective and trustworthy.
 - Are there any competing notebooks that can match the NP8152's price
erformance? - Any point in overclocking the GPU/CPU, or would it only lead to throttling due to insufficient cooling?
 - Are there any significant weak points in the notebook that made you reconsider your purchase, or would make you reconsider buying if you have not already?
 - Are there any thermal gels you would recommend that are better than IC Diamond?
