Hi all, i keep thinking of the performance different from MSI laptop compare to Clevo, same processor, same GPU, adjust the core clock speed to the same, but the performance still slower than the MSI, is it because of the power adapter? Which is output 230W from MSI and Clevo only 200W.

My first guess: From what i have experienced MSI has better cooling due to bulkier/heavier barebone:
Comparing - just for example - a 17.3" Cleovo* (3,4 cm high / 3,5 kg) vs. 17.3" GT73** (4,8cm high / 4.0 kg) this is quite a difference.

This could mean that the performance could be somewaht better, yet the notebook (a little more) bigger/heavier.

I am using Clevo P650RP6-G, the spec is similar like MSI GT62VR, the review is here. My clevo full load GPU only up to 72c and CPU full load only 66c.

You can tell from the higher GPU score the MSI shows, while the CPU score is lower than the Clevo result. The MSI is also 420g heavier than the Clevo.
In the end you get to decide if you want some more point in the benchmarks or a bulkier notebook.

P.S.: I´d go with the more lightweight one. -
Got a question about the "noisy fans" for the Clevo models P650/P670
I thought that the fan noise would be the same for the model 970m and the one with 1060 gtx. And that old 970m version was described as decent in noise signature (in the HTWingNut review). However there seem to be much more complaints now with Pascal 10xx series. Has it really changed for the worse with the 1060 gtx?
Or do the complaints only apply for the higher end GPUs, such as the 1070/1080 gtx? -
I did not own the 970m model, just the 1070 one. My IMPRESSION is that the new models have fans that are somewhat noisier, but temperatures that are lower. I think there may be a few people like me who would be willing to trade a 5-10 degree bump in temperature for slightly quieter fans.
That said, I really only notice how noisy it is if I am in a quiet room. If my wife is watching TV or if there is music playing then I do not notice it at all. And when it comes to gaming laptops cooler is always better.
I think part of the problem is that the CCC software gives us pretty much zero control over the fan curve. In fact, after my last experience with it I am afraid to touch any controls at all - I just leave it on automatic and let it do its thing. Do I wish I could tweak it a bit more to my satisfaction? Yeah. Is this a reason I would not buy this laptop? Hell no, this is a phenomenal laptop even with a few minor quirks. -

Hi, P650RP6-G user here, Please share your experience and guideline:
G-sync
may i know what is the best setting for G-sync? My screen can see ghosting and flickering, while playing game
NBA 2k17 (Gsync turned on, and V-sync on, little flickering and ghosting)
Crysis 3 (Gsync turned on, and V-sync on, no flickering but ghosting still around)
Tested on running the Gsync Demo, looks like to maintain the smooth experience, need to maintain the fps not more than 60fps.
Some of the games, while i V-sync off, the fps will drop until 30fps and and go up to 60fps again, hence the screen got flickering and lagging few second.
What is the MS response times of this monitor? LCD Model : LGD046F (Full HD, Refresh Rate 60hz, IPS G-sync)
Audio Setup
What is the best audio setting for the Sound Blaster X-Fi 5?
What is the port with Red Light, i have been told that it is a Headphone dac, if i get a good speaker, should i connect to this red light port or just normal headphone jack?
Best Budget wireless headphone for gaming and music on phone? meaning i can connect via
Flexi Key & Flexi Access
What is "Macro" & "Statistic" not sure how it works and benefit only for gaming?
Saw "Flexi Acces" in Control Center, but not sure the purpose.
LCD Monitor
Any Recommendation, if i want to buy a external LCD screen 24 or 27inch.
Gsync or Freesync monitor?
Budget around 250 usd. Gaming on 144hz monitor do we still need Gsync and Freesync?
Fan Speed Controller
What is the best setting for custom fan speed controller?
My bios version is "V1.05.07"
Touch Pad
I found that the touch pad is "Microsoft® Precision Touchpad", may i know anyone experience it how to use it? -
P650RP6-G here with a 1060 and G-Sync.
I think it has been happening since the latest Windows update, but most of the times when I boot to Windows the display does not get any signal.
The backlight turns on, but nothing on the screen. Pressing Fn+F2 or Fn+F7 does not fix anything.
After a long struggle the fix appears to be to press Win+Ctrl+Shift+B and then reboot, maybe I should reinstall my drivers?
Anyone else having this bug, I am still on the same BIOS as when I bought it in September. I've got the Norwegian version from Multicom, no clue what BIOS update to get.
Any help?Lookingforward likes this. -

Good news folks!
I amin contact with the support from mySN / XMG. I sent them a vidio of the felxicharger bug, which shows that flexicharger is persistent only during uninterupted plug in.
They answered to me and said, that they are allready in contact with clevo on their end and are working on a new EC

@Rynji hey so I have the exact same problem!! I was thinking about returning the Clevo since it seems like it was broken, did that fix everything and does it not blackout anymore, or does it still sometimes black out?

Hey guys. So, I'm a bit new to all of this lol.
I'm in University right now and I'm trying to pick a good gaming laptop to suite my needs. I'm stuck in between the P650 and the P670, and since I'm Canadian I'm trying to order from either Reflextnotebooks or Eurocom. (Namely either http://www.reflexnotebook.ca/laptops-notebooks/screen-size/15-display/sager-np8153-s.html or http://www.reflexnotebook.ca/laptops-notebooks/screen-size/17-displays/sager-np8173-s.html vs http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(1,396,0)ec or http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(1,386,0)ec ) (I'm a bit upset with the prices myself; my maximum was SUPPOSED to be $2000 CDN, haha)
I've skimmed through a bit of the thread, but I was wondering if someone could help me with the following questions:
1. For the P650, is the fan really that bad/loud? I'm coming from an MSI Gt70 20c (4 years old, 770m) and one of my biggest pet peeves is the fan noise.
2. How is the battery life for both models?
3. Would a 1070 be better than a 1060 for furture proofing, and is it worth the temperatures that I'm seeing in this thread (I get scared if my laptop even goes above 80c, let alone some of these 90cs that I'm seeing in this thread) ?
4. I have a 17inch laptop bag and my current laptop is 17 inches, but is the bigger size worth it this time? My laptop right now is pretty hard to carry around.
5. Is the build quality on this laptop really good? I'm a bit concerned with the hinges and the screen from what I see in the pictures.
6. Finally, this might be a weird question, but do you think I should order from Eurocom or Reflexnotebooks? I'm not used to ordering a custom built laptop.
Thanks if you guys can help me out. -
Hi guys,
Wanted to get your view on something I have been noticing with my P670rs. When I start up the notebook (press the power button) it starts up but before it gets to the boot screen it shutsdown, and I have to press the power button again to start it up again and then everything works fine. Wondering if you guys can give your opinion on this...
For additional information, im running on discrete gpu enabled from the bios. I have not overclocked or overvolted (in fact I have actually undervolted by 110mV) and im running BIOS 1.05.06.
Any ideas? Things I might try to fix this... -
I'm in the GTA so it was also either reflex or Eurocom and I ended up going Eurocom cause their prices were slightly better. Customer service has also been top notch.
Fans aren't crazy loud, quieter than my desktop and not really noticeable if you're gaming.
Build quality is pretty good imo, barely any flex in the keyboard, screen is solid and the brushed aluminum is a nice touch, however, if you're expecting MacBook pro build quality then you'll be disappointed. This is definitely once of the nicest windows laptops I've ever used.
I can't really answer you on whether or not the 1060 or 1070 is the better option. Obviously the 1070 will last longer but I went with it cause that's what I wanted.
15.6" is a perfect size imo. It's easily carried around, not too heavy but substantial enough that you know it isn't going to fall apart the first time you use it. It's a good university laptop if you can find a plug in our lectures. Battery life is no more than 3.5 hours for me so far.

I finally got to touch one in person today, the build quality in my opininion was mutch better than I expected, and I would desccribe as very good. My scale for reference is a full aluminum seamless frame like macbook being what I would call excellent, MSI stealth series being what I would call "good" and the gl502vs and gl702vm being what I call meh. So I would say this clevo build quality is not as good at Macbook, but actually I thought better than MSI. just my 2c.
EDIT: also the keyboard was "very good". The Asus model I mention have such a poor keyboard it's so disappointing, everything from the font size, the font color ( dark red on black, I have trouble reading the function keys ), the travel is poor, the keys feel shaky i.e. they don't seem to travel up and down perfectly straight, and of course, the backlight is terrible unless you like a dark red backlight that is not bright and shines around the keys mainly, not through them. I did not mean to turn this into an asus keyboard bash comment, sorry. But clevo has very good keyboard, great travel, perfectly straight it seems, very nice backlighting seems as good as MSI

I am in a bit of a tight spot regarding this issue... I bought the laptop here in Norway, from a Norwegian reseller (Multicom).
But I am leaving the country next week and I am looking to sell the laptop back home (The Netherlands).
So returning isn't really an option for me, because the shipping cost would be insane. -
Quick update: got a bit of a scare with LatencyMon today. I was getting the dreaded ACPI.sys issue despite being on BIOS 1.05.05 LS1 (EC 1.05.03). Turns out it was caused by HWiNFO64. The problem went away as soon as I exited out of it.

guys need a lil bit of help, finally managed to get hold of my P650RP6/sager np8151, installed a new 2.5" ssd , both the ssd and hdd are squeezed in together , there is a slight bulge in the palm rest , i hope that wouldnt be a problem?
After that i did a fresh install of windows and let it auto update, i havent installed anything , just let windows autoupdate; sad part is my driver cd is still with friend , who bought this laptop for me from US , so im drivers from clevo website ..
which all drivers you guys recommend to download , i thought of beginning with nvidia driver , as the current one (368.xx) doesnt seem to support vulkan and it failed to load vulkan games (dota and doom), what other drivers are recommended ..
also trying to download from clevo website, if i click asia i get a 700mb file , while US gives me a 1Gb file , the latter is sruprisingly faster to download.. so im currently in the process of downloading it .
@Meaker@Sager
EDIT.. just after i posted this i decided to look up Sager's download page and im downloading the drivers from there now Nvidia one is 680mb and its faster..question is should i download this or is there any problem downloading straight from nvidia?Last edited: Dec 14, 2016 -
I fail to understand how people are reporting sub 70C temperatures while gaming at full throttle. My system always hits 85C and above on the GPU while gaming, even though I opted for the Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra thermal compound (although that was only for the CPU). I hope I don't need to repaste because I really do not want to open up the laptop myself. Perhaps the 6820HK is to blame as it runs hotter compared to the 6700HQ and the heatsink is shared between the CPU and the GPU?

About the booting with black screen (with backlight).
I get it almost every single time now, replugging the power seems to help. Seems to happen after disconnecting/reconnecting the power, then rebooting later.
Really do not know what's going on all of a sudden, but it is annoying and it devalues my laptop (looking to sell soon).GeoFrank91 likes this. -

I´m not sure which fixed it but my testing showed it was being done by a secundary HDD not turning off, the HDD was a new Seagate Barracuda, do you by any chance have one of those?
If that´s the case you should also go to power options and disable the "Turn Off HDD after X time", set that to 0.
And you can also disable Windows Fast Boot (been causing way to much trouble). -
I have to launch ThrottleStop every time my system boots otherwise it just doesn't show up. Is there a way to add it to the list of startup programs once we've found the sweet spot?

Anyone know where to get vinyl skins for this laptop? While the brushed aluminium is nice, it's a goddamned fingerprint magnet. My skin gets oily at times and seeing smudges here and there is starting to to get annoying. This is my third day with the machine lmao.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I was playing BL:TPS @ 4K getting 60fps. Running very smooth with CPU and GPU temps well below 70C. Granted this is not a demanding game.
It is worth trying complete uninstall of ccc and nvram reset as some version of ccc caused my temps to go nuts.

This is for debugging really (though you can survive without ccc).
After that diagnostic, you can reinstall ccc which for me was fine. XTU I did not install and some believe that is the source of the problem.

Any bad comments on the 120hz screen on the P650RS? I'm very interested in getting it.
Forgive my noobness, so with 120hz screen and Gsync on = does that mean games are always going to run at 120hz or the screen refresh will be constantly changed to match the frame rates from the graphics card? -
So, I uninstalled XTU, did a NVRAM reset and...I no longer have wifi. The option disappeared. Even in device manager, the network adapter disappeared.
I have the Intel card, and I tried reinstalling the drivers, chipset and still nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks
EDIT: Problem solved. Apparently, the drivers didn't reinstall correctly. -
For those who have the laptop, what do you guys think of the ESS Sabre DAC? Would you guys recommend getting an external DAC/AMP? Thanks in advance...

It seems to work about 70% of the time after a reboot, and about 20% of the time after a long suspend.JYH likes this. -
Which version of CCC do you recommend installing?

Newest.

FredSRichardson Notebook Groundsloth
Control_v5.0001.0.98
I recommend changing this setting in "oem.ini" prior to install:
SupportXTUFanTable=0
This way you will not install XTU along with CCC -
Could you please share where you found version .98? The only version I can find is .73 (Unless .73 is the latest for my model, P65xRP6)
