I got the PC Specialist Defiance 3 with a NVIDIA 1070, basically its the 15" Clevo P650RS-G. Its a great machine for me, great performance, nice build quality. The only thing is I have been encountering some weird issues.

The first one is I have gotten a few 0x116 Blue screens of death while gaming. I am hoping this is a driver issue rather than being something hardware. What I have found is that I can game for hours without issue, GPU temps seem to float around 70 C. Out of 10 sessions I have had so far I think I have had 3 blue screens. One was in Doom in a section that I could reliably cause the game to crash (when you are talking to Samuel Hayden), one time it resulted in a bluescreen, so I put that down to game actually flaking out but causing the driver to time out.

If I am using Microsoft edge on the PC I am beset with a black screen flick for a second follow by DWM.exe has failed in the event lot, this could be once every 10 minutes, or a few in a row some time, Chrome doesn't seem to have this issue as much. This further leads me to think I have some strange driver issue rather than an issue with the hardware, the GPU isn't event running under any load !

Anybody experienced any issues like this ? Would there be something unusual in the mshybrid/optimus stuff in the GPU causing the issue or some software the OEM put on, or do I have a more difficult hardware issue?

I guess this is the problem. In discrete mode you should be able to activate it via the NV menue.

Has anyone experienced inconsistency with volume after reboot (this is with headphones)? Sometimes after reboot, the volume gets very loud without any previous setting changes. And sometimes it's "normal". Does it have to do with the Sabre DAC?

**** my notebook just experienced a sudden death of some kind. It just went out during a mild gaming session (old coop title, not very demanding) but can not be started again. The brick is powered, but as soon as I connect the brick with the notebook the control light on the brick turns off.

Must be some issue with the powerconnector on the notebooks mainboard I guess...

    All the best to you

Definitely sounds like a short triggering the current limit auto shutdown on the brick. Does the back of the laptop smell like burning electronics?

Yes, I have issues with this. Others also seem to have the some problem as well. It is probably to do with the DAC but not entirely sure. Might have to wait on a bios update to patch this one out (anyone have any fixes for this currently besides restarting/resuming?)

Hi guys, I've been lurking these forums for the past few months. I bought an NP8153-s a few months ago, but it's been bluescreening almost everyday for the past months(my computer bluescreened while writing this post). Also, a few days ago, the laptop screen and the ultrawide monitor its connected to occasionally goes completely black for a few seconds, and cancels out the sound and display. Additionally, sometimes when the computer restarts, it fails to extend the display into the 2nd monitor, or doesn't detect the first monitor. I've tried to correct this issue by upgrading my Nvidia Drivers from version 376.33 to 376.48, and then when that didn't work, rolled back to version 376.09, but there are still monitor problems. I did an nvram reset today morning, and updated the bios and ec a few weeks ago. Whocrashed suggests that it is a software/system/driver error. This last crash that I just experienced was a VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR, and the ones before that were a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (caused by the synaptics touchpad[which has never caused problems before]). The most common bluescreen I get is the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, which occurs almost everyday. I contacted Xotic-PC support a few months ago, but they suggested resetting the nvram, or reinstalling windows. Do you guys have any suggestions for these errors? I'm planning to probably RMA after I finish my college essays in a few days, but it's been getting more frustrating day by day. Thanks!

I was contemplating getting a P650RP to replace my dying P150. Just wondering how much of an issue not having the Prema mod is with this model. The reason I ask is that Prema partners are thin on the ground. There are none in the UK, the others in the EU are an unknown quantity, and HidEvolution seems to be following Origin into expensive territory ( it can't be worth £300 more).

Not visually to my knowledge. There's an audible click that may be related. Of course the louder sound is also an indicator.

does models with gsync support have "gysnc" specifically mentioned or just adaptive sync , coz i see adaptive sync under my options and i have read before the mobile gsync is nvidias implementation of adaptive gsync , or is there more to it than i know of..

The output is driven by the DAC, if it was not working the headphone jack would not function.

I've been reading through this thread for the last hour and have tried everything I can think of to try to fix this pinned acpi.sys problem. As it stands it's basically like having a 3.5 core CPU.
    I tried a registry edit (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters is 100.
I tried updating all drivers and also disabling acpi devices and re-installing them.
The only thing that sometimes works (1 out of 5 times maybe) is to go into sleep mode and then come out of it.

Has anyone come up with a definitive fix for this? I have the Eluktronics P650RP6 which seems to be the same hardware. i7-6700hq/1070/4k.

    Thanks!

So, there are a few things going on here, the bluescreening and the external monitor issue. You said you contacted Xotic and they recommended a reinstall or NVRAM reset; did you do either of those? The NVRAM reset will take you two minutes, if you search this thread (or anywhere on NBR) there are a couple of posts/threads detailing how it's done. The Windows install will likely take longer, but the driver issue (if it's the SynTP) is something you can easily track down. There might even be a way to disable it in the BIOS and just use an external mouse.

I'd get your system stable first before tracking down the external display issue... small victories! Let us know.

Hey! I had the same issue with SynTP and after a long research I found out this: At first I uninstalled Synaptics but the same error came back but was called "HKK.something". This is basically the same error that occurs when you uninstall Synaptics as this is not the problem solver.
Here is the fix : 1) uninstall Synaptics, 2) go to this link : http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...r-skylake-laptops.797648/page-7#post-10380671 and check D2 Ultimas reply to my post (post #66), 3) follow his steps, 4) install the Synaptics driver again and all should work and you won't get any problems!

    Hello all,

Just bought a Dell Gaming S2417DG Monitor and I'm unable to get it to connect properly to my 650rs-g through displayport. It connects no problem through hdmi, but when using displayport the monitor stays in sleep mode. I've done the usual troubleshooting, updating drivers, new cords, disabling all hibernation and sleep modes etc. But no success, anyone else have this issue?

Only tried dedicated, I did try another cable, I unfortunately do not have another display.

I'm going to mess around with it more this weekend, just wondering if there is a common problem/easy fix before I dig in.

There is no similar common problem as far as I am aware. The output to the displayport is always on the Nvidia side but hybrid mode can jig the drivers around a little.

It will be worth physically inspecting the port too to make sure there is nothing blocking/obvious wrong with it.

Been a while since I've been on here, but I've been lurking and researching a bit. And now, I'm happy to say (though my wallet isn't) that I just ordered from HIDEvolution. Thanks to Donald for your time and help (even if I ended up not doing half of what you recommended lol)! Only things that I was a bit wary of is not upping the display warranty and the lack of internal optical drive in case I need to reinstall Win7, given some of the wonkiness I've read about with USBs and Skylake (I know it's possible just seems would be easier to use a disk if possible). Otherwise, I'm looking forward to this in the new year and expect it will be more than enough for my purposes. PS this is an upgrade for me from a Sager NP8130 / Clevo P151HM1, for what it's worth. Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone here as well!

If you are worried about optical media for backup reasons then grab a cheap external DVD-RW USB device and keep it in a drawer :)

I am happy to announce that XMG returned my notebook. The whole process only took 3 (there/repair/return) days, so those guys were super fast. THX for that.

Curiously they were not able to reproduce the error. As I described earlier the notebook I RMA`d did not turn on anymore, yet over at motherbase it did ^^.

Do you know of things that migth cause the notebook to temporarily not react at all (tht book was clearly not overheated runing an old Unreal3 title wit about 60°C on CPU/GPU).

    All the best to you.

A weak solder joint could have given away in transit or some other physical weakness given way if it never turns back on.

If the machine is super cold it may not turn on, known as the 'cold bug' and will after warming a bit.

Couriers don't always treat boxes with the care they deserve.
