Does anyone know an easy to do "blind BIOS flash procedure"? I tried yesterday to upgrade the BIOS from 1.05.05 to 1.05.08 using the palkeo repository and after restart I have a black screen. The keyboard is lit, so think that the BIOS version had a problem, or I have done something wrong.
Any way to recover the BIOS?

So I'm interested in trying the CPU undervolt. I have the 6700hq. XTU only allows overvolting? The slider will not go below default. Any suggestions on how to undervolt?

    Read my Post http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...s-owners-lounge.795090/page-470#post-10417979 (#4700)

had the same issue after flashing "my way". Hdmi should still work to get a picture...

what i've heard about prema bios is that it wont be available for us... prema got betraid ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-overclockers-lounge.788975/page-257#post-10263050) this year earlier, so he decided to just cooperate with some resellers he had deals with. So far i know there are only 2 resellers working with prema where you can get the bios from ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/prema-bios-questions.795536/).

The only way to get the prema bios is a good friend who ordered his mashine from these resellers or by ordering your mashine from this resellers directly. Dont think there will be any leaked version soon. And what ive red prema hasnt finished the bios verions for the new mashines anyway. Just my 2 "ive made some reading in the middle of the night" cents.

Correct me if im wrong, please

Why can't intel and nvidia just align their hardware updates? Having just bought my P650RP6 a month ago, already it is outdated because of Kaby Lake. I just don't get it? The skylake version was only available for 3 months and to spend that much money on a computer that isn't even cutting edge for more than 6 months is just pointless. I swear if nVidia announce a new GPU that kills the current 1000 series within the next couple of months I will flip!

To be fair the updates are pretty minor, gaming wise you wont see a difference.

So I picked up some Gelid Extreme, as most of you felt the Artic MX-4 was not a good paste, and repasted last night. I also undervolted -160mV. Strangely my idle temps increased a little on the CPU to 36, GPU remained 39. So I was skeptical the paste would help. But now under load/stress and Arma III I'm getting 68 CPU instead of 77, and ~70 GPU instead of 75! I'm pretty shocked the temps are that much better with undervolt and Gelid. I'm a fan of the paste instantly.

Has anyone looked into custom backlighting beyond the supplied software? Basically today I realised that using Fn + 7 8 or 9 on the num pad turns off lighting for each zone on the keyboard. If you turn the central zone off, the 2 outer zone colours are blended. Based on this and the "breathe" functions, I think there is a possibility for custom lighting profiles which includes variations in brightness and custom colour cycling.

I think the keys are individually lit too as opposed to having 3 master colours which feed each zone directly. I made my keyboard zones red green and blue from left to right. I then toggled the green zone on and off. When it's off, the left zone is true red and right is true blue, but the zones colours "leak" into the middle keys. The middle zone has some cross-over in colour as a result, a gradient from blue to purple to red. When I toggle the green back on again, the red and blue zones change slightly too, more towards a dark orange and medium blue respectively. This makes me think the LEDs are individual per key, and the blending of colours seems quite sophisticated for such a trivial software that only allows custom zonal settings and nothing beyond that.

Full disclosure, my aim is to find a way to utilise the keyboard to go beyond the basic settings. I want to apply ambient lighting profiles and game-specific profiles too. For example, if I'm watching a movie, I would like the keyboard to change colour based on the bottom portion of the video on the screen, to extend the colour and enhance the viewing experience. So dynamically changing RGB lighting per zone based on the screen directly above. For gaming I want simple things like in GTA if the police are after you, the middle zone is white and the outer zones flash cycling between red and blue. For stealth games like Splinter Cell, getting the keyboard lighting to change in brightness based on alert status. So if you're in the dark, the keyboard backlight is dim or off, it gets brighter as you enter an area of high detection, and if you're about to be detected it can go from yellow to warn, then to orange and finally to red when you've been seen. Seems a difficult task but I am persistent, just need a starting point :D

Not sure if anyone has a solution, but is there a way to ensure the settings I made to Synaptics drivers are saved? My touchpad keeps getting re-enabled whenever I restart the laptop; tried using other Synaptics drivers, but they don't seem to work with this touchpad.

Update: The following response has been solved. The solution was that combokeys and kbcolorpicker.exe both crash when I try to change the colours from an external monitor! When I put the Flexikeys app onto the main laptop monitor it works fine. How strange!

For some reason my I can't change my keyboard colour at all now in flexikeys? Everything else works but when I scroll to the colour wheel it says "combokeys has stopped working"? I don't get it, my laptop did a windows update earlier. I only noticed this happening since this following windows update "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for X64-based Systems (KB3213986)" on 10/01/2017. Any ideas? Anyone else having issues too?

Hey guys. I was seeing some really nice prices on Sager NP8155/8174, with the main difference being apparently no IPS screen? I mean, how bad is the stock TN screen? Heard its 75 hz. http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8174-clevo-p650rp6-9419.html?startcustomization=1

Just saw it lacks G-sync too. Is that meaning no g-sync support with another panel as well? I currently live without g-sync, although I was told its something to consider with gtx 1060 fps drops

Hey guys, I am a pround owner of a clevo p650rp6(Eluktronics 1200 on amazon las black friday),
Tnx to this thread I was able to fix my issue with my external korean monitor which involved update the BIOS
    My current BIOS is 1.05.07
I used the https://www.mysn.de/driver/XMG/XMG_P507_P707/BIOS/ because eluktronics doesn't offer any one at the moment, however the instructions from eluktronics http://www.eluktronics.com/support/p650rs-g-p670rs-g-p670rp6-bios-update/ are almost the same with the xdg version

Just a little detail the FlashMeWinX64.bat is missing, i just created the script
    Code:
    @echo off
    @set BIOS.ROM=P65xRP.07
    @set BIOS.ROM2=P65xRP.07

    :: Flash ME
    fptW64 -f %BIOS.ROM% -l 2097152 -y
    if errorlevel 1 goto End

    AFUwinx64.exe %BIOS.ROM2% /p /b /n /l /r /shutdown

Well if you aren't accustomed to IPS you'd be fine. I spoiled myself with IPS and had a hard time using a TN screen on my sager. I eventually went back to the IPS 60hz vs the 120hz TN. I actually had an RMA on the TN as I thought there was major color distortion and issues, so Sager took it back been then said it was normal for that display and there was no issue, luckily they refunded me. I have the 1070 in mine and with the games I play there is no need for the Gsync as I'm consistently running in the 90-110 and use fast sync.

Probably doesn't help much, but I personally can't do the TN screen on a laptop. Especially not the 120hz one I had it was of terrible quality.

Hi, at first I was considering the P35 as well. It seemed nice and small. So I got it. But the temperatures and noise were just horrifying. It straight went back. Fans were running on 5000rpm during gaming and anyway the temperatures were sky high with >90°C. The keyboard was rubbish as well and the head phone plug made a constant noise.
The P650RS is a little thicker, but better in every way.

Thanks. I guess undervolting is working now as well, but not sure if it works properly. I tried it and as soon as I changed the voltage, my 6700HQ didn't go to turbo anymore and was stuck in a maximum clock of 2,9GHz.

Thanks. I currently have an IPS on my AW15, so I know what you mean. Its beautifully accurate. Then I have another notebook with a TN where the blacks look grey and everything is so grainy. However I also know that TN screens come in a wide array of qualities, and some TN are very close to IPS quality, if not better, negating viewing angles. Right now the price difference is $300 between the sager 15 inch non-ips and ips versions on xotic, so I was questioning if I could switch it out myself, and save a buck, but I didn't inspect the specs close enough to see what other differences they had.

I wonder too if anyone has ventured out and swapped displays on it. Yeah I've seen some TN displays that look awesome. Pretty sure Sager has never seen one though. And $300 is a lot that's weird. That's a sweet deal if it's easily swappable.

    O.k.

    1. Go here: https://www.mysn.de/driver/XMG/XMG_P507_P707/BIOS/

    2. Download: XMG_P507_1070_P707_1060_1070_EC_1.05.03TR.zip

    3. Download: XMG_P507_1070_P707_1060_1070_BIOS_1.05.07a.zip

    4. Use "rufus" to create a bootable USB Stick -> FAT 32 / FREE DOS

    5. Create two directorys on the bootable USB Stick one called "ec" one called "bios"

    6. Unzip the XMG_P507_1070_P707_1060_1070_EC_1.05.03TR.zip to the "ec"

    7. Unzip the XMG_P507_1070_P707_1060_1070_BIOS_1.05.07a.zip to the "bios"

    8. DISABLE Bitlocker in System Setup (if you use it)

    9. Disable UEFI in BIOS

    10. Select to boot from the USB

    11. After Free Dos has booted:

11a. Change to "ec" directory and type "ecflash.bat"

    12. Let flash and restart

    13. After Free Dos has booted again:

13a. Change to "bios" directory and type "flash.bat"

    14. Let flash and restart

    That was it for me

    best regards

    phila

P.S.: Flexicharger NOT fixed ;-( It seems to work at first, but if you unplug the notebook, power down and up and plug in again... Felxicharger is disabled...

Sorry! I am not into those model numbers. Can you please tell me what`s the difference excactly?

For Noe I can say: This seem to be for the most models EXCEPT: for the 507 with GTX 1060.

At least there is a special EC and BIOS in the XMG download section.

    Best regards

My Sager NP8153-s with 6700hq and GTX 1070 has been nearly flawless until today...got my first BSOD while playing Smite. System restarted, installed some updates and booted back into Windows without any issues, so I'm hoping it was a fluke.

You could get the App "WhoCrashed" - it could help identify what was going on.

My system was fine for the last weeks - sitll I had one heavy crash due to the "track pad driver" ;-)

According to this page: http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/clevo-p650rs-g-review-gtx-1070-i7-hq/ the models seem to be equivalent... But as I said - I am not an expert...

    All the best to you!

Thist method not working for me :( I have "CPU microcode blah blah blah... erorr" and BIOS isn't updating.

EDIT. My mistake, I've typed "flashme" not "flash". It works now, but I confirm, this BIOS update not fixed flexicharge.

In what ways is the 120hz panel not as good as the 60hz one?

I'm a bit confused by this IPS vs TN panel debate

The TN 120hz display just seems to be of pretty poor quality. I owned both models, one with the IPS 60hz and the other the TN 120hz. I play some shooters and loved the smoothness, but the color inaccuracy (even after calibration with a colormunki calibration tool) was so awful that it made the 120 hz smoothness seem irrelevant as I couldn't look past the bad color. Essentially there is no black, whites are bluish and even text looked less sharp. Hard to explain without seeing it. It seemed more like my older MacBook Pro with 1600x900 resolution not full HD. I've seen pretty good TN displays, but this one just looks pretty ugly. Especially if you compared it to the IPS display on the same laptop. I ultimately went with the IPS and sent the 120hz back, and rather deal with 60hz rather than terrible color accuracy. Hope that helps, maybe not.

Plus the view angle is awful on the 120hz, I found myself tipping it forward and back several times to get a decent color in dark scenes.

It's hard to picture yes. I never was good with colors so I'm not sure I would notice those bad colors but I recall having a terrible experience with the levono display, that was basically like an early 2000s display in that it was like someone had applied a blue filter all over the screen in addition to grain and blur.

Is this something similar or are you simply speaking from a more sophisticated point of view (like complaining about over saturation and things I fail to really notice).

I feel I'm really not that picky like others who RMA their displays 100 times until they get one that is near perfect without light bleeding or IPS glow. I ordered the 120 hz and planned to sell the IPS one to a friend, but when I got it and turned it on I immediately was like oh man this looks bad. The start screen was all gray not black and even more lighter gray around the borders. And yes the blue was super strong like a filter. After I did some calibrating it helped the blue but the white was still a little blue and the blacks and and other darker colors were very washed out. I wish I had better pictures but here this shows the black of IPS in the top, bottom is the TN display.

It looks like what I had on my lenovo but its really hard to tell from your pic. If you get a more blurry feeling then in my books that's bad.

That said what's this light bleeding I keep hearing about?

Yeah it definitely was more blurry. Honestly maybe that was the part that bothered me the most. It just really seemed like a cheap display unfortunately. Here is a good read on IPS glow and bleeding. I actually did RMA my IPS one as it had a lot of bleeding and they fixed it very well. Crap maybe I am picky lol.

This never happened to me on any laptop I've owned but I've only ever owned the big branded ones. Is this a thing that's typical for custom built, non mainstream laptops like these ones?

I do have pictures to show how bad mine was when I first got it. Sager fixed it though under warranty for free. I've heard the IPS glow is common on this model. A lot has to do with the bezel I think. It wasn't noticeable but only under dark lighting and black images, now I barely have any after they fixed it.

You need the dead pixel warranty for that or just a normal warranty would do?

I didn't buy the dead pixel warranty, after I sent pictures to Xoticpc they communicated with Sager who then setup the RMA. Looks much better now.

P.S.: Although flexicharger is not completely fixed - at least it remembers to not charge while plugged in... I wrote to msYSN allready. Can some one confirm that flexicharger is still disabled by the following procedure:

    1. Have your Clevo set up with flexicharger AND connectet to the Brick.

    2. Disconnect from the brick and power down the notebook

    3. Reconnect the notebook while it is off and power on.

    4. -> Flexicharger will be disabled / Notebook loading until max.

I dont understand what is so hard about fixing flexicharger? It`s not like we are landing on Mars or ending all wars on earth, it`s a freakin upper voltagelimit while plugged in!
