Anyone else have really poor battery life with this model? Tested mine the other day and was only getting 1.5-2 hours tops (only had it ~1.5 weeks). Brightness all the way down, bluetooth off, intel GPU forced. No undervolting/down clocking though. I've seen others saying 2.5-3.5 hours is possible with the sharp 4k screen, but I'm not even coming close to that. Power draw was showing 24000-27000mAh which is as much or more than my old P150HM with no optimus support.

Ok, this is going to sound really stupid but I am a newb so bear with me.

I just got my np8652-s and I am doing a clean install on a SSD. The HDD that came with my computer is now "under" the SSD, in that dual bracket thingy that holds the hard drives.

For some reason my computer won't recognize the HDD anymore. I don't even see it in BIOS. Should I open up the laptop again and check the connection or was there a step I was supposed to do for Windows to recognize it.

BTW I just want to use the HDD that came with my computer as storage. The 1tb Samsung SSD that is reformatting right now is going to be my boot drive.

They're thermal pads for M.2 PCIe SSD, thin one b/w mainboard & SSD and thick one b/w SSD and bottom cover. If you have additional long thin strips those are for GPU VRAM.

I got a the AUO 1080p screen (the cheapest one) and I get around 3.5 hours without WiFi on, half brightness, browsing etc. on Win7, but with Win8 I had less than 2 hours, mind you I had some ACPI problem on mine, maybe you got the same?

I bought a 3XS (UK reseller) version of this laptop this week and I am incredibly impressed with it's performance. However, I have noticed that my spacebar does not always register key presses, especially if pressed from the bottom half of the spacebar. Does anyone else have this issue or is there an easy fix?

I'd rather not send it in for such a small (though annoying) issue.

I'm here! EFI booting Arch Linux from the XP941, no issues at all with the config. I press the power button and by the time I am accomodated on my chair, GDM is ready to type the passwd (I would say swipe the finger, but I've not been able to let it work).

The SM951 should be even better although not many resellers are offering it yet.

If you really care about the quality and whish to use some hi-fi system, you should forget the internal audio and its overdesigned drivers: get an external DAC+AMP!

That too, but a good headphone is the first step.

The software may be bloated like all Creative crap but at least the virtual surround is useful and it's free.

I am a new owner of the Clevo P651SE. Ordered it from the local distributor in the Philippines so it is branded as Rebel. Questions which I would love answers on.

    1. How do I know that they really installed the IPS panel? According to the distributor the Clevo model comes with the IPS by default while the it was a paid upgrade for the Sager one. That's the reason I got the Clevo.

    2. Running Windows 8.1, how do I turn the fans into high mode manually? Or does it really kick in automatically when loaded?

    3. How do I know that the track pad is defective? I find that scrolling using 2 fingers is inconsistent.

    4. How do I set it to use the GTX970 by default? I mean to use it all the time. Is that a wise decision? Or do I just leave it to kick in on its own?

Thanks for the help. This is my first brand new laptop in years. Hope I made the right choice.

IPS screens have the same color at any viewing angle. If you do your good.

You can set the GPU per program under the nvidea control panel under manage 3d setting. Go to program settings and use the drop down to change any programs you need/want.

My sager came with a utility to adjust fan speed.

Not sure on the track pad. I only use a mouse.

I will check the temps later tonight, but that's what I figured since its not a PCI-E drive, its an 850 Evo, not the 840 Evo (typo)

I heard the PCI-E based drives run really hot... That influenced me to get this drive instead since I have zero reason to get one of them right now.

May I know what the program of the fan control is? If I don't have it, where can I get the file? Or would I need to modify something to make that work? I don't know how to mod though.

Also what temp do you get for the Cpu when gaming? I've seen mine go as high as 80 degrees when playing Football Manager.

If you or anyone else installs XTU, can you do a stress test and benchmark test at stock with the following stats: CPU Temp, CPU Utilization, Processor Frequency, CPU Total TDP, Active Core Count, Power Limit, and Current Limit Throttling. With Processor frequency highlighted so to show average, min, and max. A 3 or 5 min graph window would be ideal.

It shouldn't be... post some pictures... Also check what pannel you have using Hwinfo64 under the screen tab.. Might have had Sager install the stock TN pannel which is washed out and junk accidently..

Worded that incorrectly.. I did get it with the stock TN panel which is pretty bad lol, but I game semi competitively so the lower response time is nice I guess?

That pannel is junk... I believe there is a Samsung 1080p IPS pannel which is quite good and has about 20ms response time.. I would get that honestly.. I haven't heard of anyone complain about input lag with either the Samsung IPS or LG IPS pannels tbh...

I have my w230ss sitting right next to it and it looks so horrible in comparison ha... I'm seriously going to consider it because man is it horrendous... Thanks for the suggestion, but will look into it and see if retailer will send me one for the difference in cost... I'll just replace it myself and send that heap of crap back...

I do not think I have the control center app or software. Pressing FN+1 doesn't do anything. Or I think it disables the whole keyboard for me. Anyone who can help point me how I can set up fan controls? Thank you.

    1. Like TomJGX mentioned : Use Hwinfo64 to check your panel-model
    2. Should work with FN + 1. Mine also kick in to about 90% when gaming and GPU-temp exceeds about 80°C (which rarely happens and only when overclocked). If you don't have the Hotkey-App (in System-tray) download it from here --> http://www.mysn.de/secure/userarea/...G_P505QQDriversQQWin8.1QQ07_Hotkey3.09.21.zip
    3. Check here --> http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/official-clevo-p65xsa-se-sg-sager-np8650-51-52-owner´s-lounge.763159/page-694#post-9985258
    4. I leave it on auto. For the most softwares it kicks in automatically when supported. I have one CAD-software where I need to start it manually via rightclick on the icon. The GTX will use quite some more power so if you're on batteries it's better to not use it when not needed.

You can also turn on an activity indicator in the nvidia control panel which will tell you if it's in use or not which can help identify if it is being turned on by mistake.

I also do not see the hockey app in my system tray. What is it used for?
Didn't know that the left most led indicator means that the GTX is in use. Thanks for that!

The Hotkey app is mainly used for the laptops energy-management and fan-control. It's not very popular in this forum and some people tend to prefer the energy-settings in Windows instead. But so far there is no alternative for (at least some) fan-control as far as I know.

Also worth mentioning that removing the hotkey app renders the headphone jack unusable. A bunch of BS if you ask me... Hopefully PremaMod will include some sort of fan control in the next mod

    Hello,

finally I had time for repasting and some OC-tests.

I used GC-Extreme to repaste and it was a piece of cake. The heatsinks came off easily. There was a lot of paste on them which I removed carefully. The advantage I got was more like a 3-4°C, not like some others 10-15°C.

For the tests my system was running at stock CPU-clocks but undervolted by -60mV. The GTX 980 ran at +160 Core and +360 Memory. Diver Version 344.75. With these values all tests were stable (prime95, Furmark, Unigine, 3dMark11, 3dMarkBasic, FarCry4, StarCitizen). At +180/+380 StarCitizen wouldn't start anymore, all the other progs still were ok, but I clocked back to the above values since I like it stable under all circumstances.

The tests have been done without notebook-cooler, flat on the desk, 20°C. The monitoring was done with Hwinfo64.

Just got my p650sg from Mythlogic, will do some impressions soon for the few people curious about it (especially build quality, everything else seems to have been taken care of by far more qualified individuals). Will also dump vbios for Prema. A stupid question, what does prema bios do other than lift OC limtis for GPU, and activate some more bios features?
