Ahhh crap looks like my RAM was a victim of the disaster.
It boots but only shows a black screen. No logo. Nothing. Then it turns itself off after about 20 seconds. I've swapped back the 'new' RAM stick and it works fine.
The old RAM was better than this new RAM. Faster timings. Corsair Vengeance vs Corsair Value. Dang it.
I'm happy to report that my SATA drives are alive and well though!
Edit: FALSE ALARM!!!tried reinserting then again and it's fine now. Transferring files from Plextor M6e now over to SATA drives...

Probably at a slightly off angle, good to hear you are back up and running

OK Windows is being annoying and not letting me transfer my files.
It copies from my old C: drive to the SATA SSD just fine. But under the new Windows installation I cannot see the files. They are hidden due to the permissions in Windows 8.1.
How can I change the permission of the files so that I can actually access them in the new Windows installation?Last edited: Jul 12, 2015 -
Take ownership of the files/directories, under properties (of the said folder), security, advanced.

OK everything's up and running. Drivers installed. Prema BIOS & VBIOS installed. Windows updates done.
ASIC is 73.6% compared to 69.9% of my previous 980M. Any improvement is welcome - hoping my VRAM can overclock a bit more than my previous one too!Last edited: Jul 12, 2015 -
I want to under volt my CPU, can anyone tell me the exact steps? Which slider do I have to change and is it just changing one slider or do I have to fine tune certain things.
EDIT
Or if you have a good guide it would be nice.
Thanks in advance. -

I don't have time for a full guide but here are a few guide lines:
- Download some cpu stress test. I personally use Prime95, and also gpu benchmark Heaven because I realized that sometimes on this laptop P95 stable settings did crash when both gpu and cpu ran.
- Download Intel XTU
- Get familiar with the UI. Locate the "Dynamic Cpu Voltage Offset" setting
- Set it to a "safe" first value. I would advise -50mV to begin with.
- Test the stability. Here the safe criterion depends on who you ask, on preliminary phases I tend to do only 10-20 minutes of stress test before moving on, but I would advise a lot more when you want to make sure a value is stable, like 1h+ on both stress tests.
- Remove 5mV from the voltage setting (-50 -->-55). Write the value down some where.
-Stress test
-Repeat until your computer crashes (yeah. Do not do any additional work in background...) This tells you that the last voltage value was unstable. Go back to your last stable value, and here you can choose to sit here if you are happy with it, or to try to optimize again with a smaller voltage step.
-Thoroughly check your final value for stability. Think about keeping a record of the values you tried, if you experience afterwards an unexplained crash, it may be that the final value was not that stable in the end.
NB this is valid for one set of clocks, if you decide to overclock the cpu, then you will have to find new safe voltages for the new clocks.comicgeek and Timvdlinde like this. -
I'm wondering if it is possible to buy the P650SE bottom panel separately anywhere. I'd like it for reasons.

My SM951 doesn't appear to be performing properly.
It is scoring much lower than it should be compared to benchmarks done by 3rd party review sites such as: http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/sm951-cdm.jpg
It is as if the PCIe slot is being throttled to x2 instead of x4. Any way to verify this?
Edit: dangit I just realised why. This is a PCIe 2.0 connection. SM951 is PCIe 3.0. I feel stupid now! Oh well, still faster than the Plextor M6eLast edited: Jul 13, 2015comicgeek likes this. -
On my P650Se, the touchpad button clicks somehow clicks both the left and the right button. Is this a hardware issue or something software related? I reinstalled the drivers but that doesnt seem to fix this.
The touchpad click works fine to be clear. Clicking the left or right button that triggers both the button functionality. -

You could check the synaptics option (in the mouse control panel) and make sure that the click actions are correct, and that the tap zones are disabled or not some how conflicting (like left bottom corner is acting like a right click). I wouldn't rule out a hard ware issue, but maybe check out the advance settings.

Hello.
Is there any way to install a ME936 modem? I am trying to install drivers but none of them work.
Thanks. -

Where are you trying to physically put in the card?

To elaborate on Meakers reply, have you tried any of the other m.2 slots, there are three including the wifi card.

Just installed the v2 BIOS for my laptop, I'm trying to install the vBIOS now but it's saying "no Nvidia Display Drivers found" Any idea why? I made sure the GPU is "awake" by having afterburner open in the background but no luck... Thanks PremaMod, super excited to start OC'ing
EDIT: Fixed, make sure to go to properties of each item in the vBIOS folder and unblock it. (Windows blocks it by default since it was downloaded from the internet and is a "risk". Also had Geforce Experience running in the background to keep the GPU awake)Last edited: Jul 14, 2015 -
so my restart time is really taking a long time even after I disabled hibernation. anyone have any idea? I am running on MX100 ssd and still getting a long restarting time, but my normal boot is fine. also occasionally I would get a BSOD during restart

when I plug in the ethernet cable through the RJ45 LAN jack as it says on the manual, nothing happens. I cannot connect to the internet at all. Tried to troubleshoot, nothing. As if it doesn't work. The cable is fine, still works on my other laptop.
//UPDATE: Apparently I need LAN driver for the ethernet port to work I assume. On my way finding it. Clevo website's being a b***h, download driver from USA and Europe server, got a message that the connection was closed when it almost finished ._.Last edited: Jul 14, 2015 -

Just flashed Premamod BIOS and vBIOS v2. Everything went smooth, except a crash during vBIOS save before flashing, that de-activated the gpu/ scary, but re-activating it in Device manager seems to make things back to normal.
Question: I do not have evaluated changes yet. But I have seen a new options during BIOS flash:
You are prompted with a choice to do, choose between
- Cool Fan
- Quiet Fan
I selected Cool Fan, but i did not had the time to test my temps yet. Any body knows what this new choice is about? Is there a changelog for Premamod versions?
Do not hesitate to ask me if you have questions on this. -
I had the same experience where my 980M was disabled in device manager and the VBIOS wouldn't flash, giving error instead (followed some outdated instructions where it was advised to put '-6' into NVFlash). I was panicking that I'd somehow bricked my 980M. I soon figured it out and from then on the flashing went without a hitch.
I know Prema has mentioned the difference between the two before... I'll try to find that post...
From what I remember, cool fan is the option that most of us enthusiasts would want. I think silent fan either limits the maximum fan speed or makes the fan profile less aggressive (something like that). -
jeanjackstyle Notebook Evangelist
Yeah I did panick a lot... Stupid dear laptop. Searching as well, agree with you as regards the settings (that's what I thought, and I went with cool anyways following my instinct).
Will post temperature and benchmarks if I have time, maybe do a comparison between cool and silent settings.
EDIT: found this

The wrong panel! They sent me the wrong panel in this laptop. Scan promised it would be the AUO panel. I have just checked and its the LG panel.
I am annoyed. Very irritated.
How can I check that the panel is EDP and not LVDS?
I have an AUO spare. I feel brave enough to try a display swap again. This time taking out the battery first!
Edit: nope, it's a different connector. Must be LVDS. I'm pretty angry. Scan specifically said it would be AUO, not LGLast edited: Jul 15, 2015 -
Cakefish, I also have the LG LVDS panel and my buddy has the AUO EDP panel, honestly there is no difference... Really, we couldn't tell them apart in a sided by side comparison

It's more to do with panel rather than connector, just there are more options with eDP.

Im so frustrated, no matter what I do, I can not push past +190 on the core. Even a +150mV doesnt help... +190 works on a +75mv though... Keeps crashing, I'm going to break down and cry if I can not push core over 200. On my maxwell 860m, I pushed core to +290!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
What are your memory clocks?
-
Anything over 250 is a crash...
-
I'm still annoyed that they told me it would have the AUO panel and then proceeded to install the LG panel. They should know what displays they stock.
I'm going to notify them of it and my displeasure but there's not much that can be done about it now. -
Unfortunately, I dropped a screwdriver at work and marred the panel, so I will replace it when things settle down here a bit. -
BTW this is my result with firestrike on stock speeds with premamod v2 on p650se

I just flashed the new Premamod BIOS and will be checking in after work. Let's see if it tops off my old settings...
-
Here you go @Sebi97 . Firestrike Stock everything. I'm happy to see that @ stock bios/vbios + clocks my scores are similar to @jeanjackstyle who has Prema v2 @ stock clocks. Calms my urges to immediately flash. More importantly, I need to hear first from the horse's mouth, Eurocom, whether flashing "non-stock" voids my warranty or not. Unless someone knows (for Eurocom specifically)? Either way at the moment, I'm honestly in no rush to OC.

Very good testing LoneSyndal! Makes me wondering if I do need a larger PSU. I can see that your physics results are decreasing when rising OC, why do you think it is? What are your typical temps with these benchmarks?
@EDU yes, fortunately the scores @stock are the same, which proves that stock updated bios are not crappy, just not fitted for OC! It is another good thing that will make me buy clevo again, not having too much performance lock on stock. -
Am I the only one whose CPU undervolt doesn't get stable? For a little time -75 mV seemed fine but then while browsing, the laptop shut itself down all of a sudden without any bluescreens or anything. Then I tried -50 mV which should be stable for everyone right? The same thing happened again so I'm not undervolting anymore
Should I?
-
jeanjackstyle Notebook Evangelist
How did you test that your undervolt was stable? This kind of things also happened to me, usually it means that your setting is not that stable in the end.
At the beginning I was only using xtu benchmark as a crash test, then prime 95 also, but this is not enough. I had stable values under +2h of prime 95, and crashes while gaming! Make sure your settings also pass several loops of heaven or firestrike benchmarks for instance. Even so, if you are really close to the limit, you can still have crashes, better have a 5mV step back from your previous "safe" value.
And remember, as well as -75mV looks to be an average for these chips undervolting, there is still a variability in the stable value you can reach: this is called the Silicon lottery, and this is who every enthusiast is praying before receiving a new component.
