I haven't received the call I was told to expect on Tuesday all week. I tried calling Scan's support line twice today so that I could make the additional payment they're asking for with no answer. That's pretty poor in my opinion, a phone line that's not being manned during main opening hours.

I'm beginning to get anxious and I really don't appreciate being kept in the dark like this. The laptop, especially together with the extra SSDs I put in there cost a small fortune and I'm getting really agitated about this lack of communication. Just take my money and send the new laptop my way! If there's a problem causing a delay, then tell me! Communicate!

Did you test this yourself? I might consider doing this but am too afraid to do it since it gives me a warning about the PCI number not matching with something

Guys I have the NP8652 and am confused about what the best Sample Rate and Bit Rate for the built in speakers is.

I was listening to Spotify on the (24 bit, 192000) setting but was experiencing some artifacts in the sound often. I was just wondering what settings you guys use for the built-in speakers.

September 27th is the date for Skylake. PC specialist already got them up for preorder.

Pretty annoying how close I was to getting a Skylake replacement. Just missed it by a week or two. Even more annoying is the complete lack of communication from Scan though.

Will I ever get my Clevo back? D:

No contact from them today either. I'll have to try again Monday.

At least I can take some solace in the thought that the longer it's delayed the more likely that Skylake will be included, but I won't hold my breath.

It'll probably be fine and I'll probably be able to speak to them Monday. I've gotta say though it's been a frustrating experience overall.

Because they usually don't contain XMP profiles IRC.
With the BIOS Mod you can use Thaiphoon Burner to add XMP profiles to your RAM and use them directly.
(Stock BIOS can not write to the RAM)

The same thing is happening to Corsair Vengeance DDR3L 1600Mhz RAM sticks? In your modified BIOS, it says that XMP profiles are not supported.

As I said, that simply means those RAM do not contain any XMP profiles.
With the Mod you can add XMP to the RAM with Thaiphoon Burner (not-free).

I like Typhoon Burner - I used it to overwrite the EEPROM on all 4 of my RAM sticks (to make them identical, 2 different brands), and used it to add overclocked XMP profiles beyond the stock 1600Mhz CL9 values - I found it an easy program to use, but that doesn't stop RAM overclocking from being a complicated business, I succeeded mainly through trial & error!

Anyone on Windows 10 experiencing BSOD for "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL_TO" with no driver fault? It used to be ntoskrnl.exe at fault, but after doing a repair scan, just crashes only on boot-up after a long period of a full shutdown (no sleep or hibernation). Any ideas?

Man the CPU gets really hot lol. I was analyzing some songs in Serato yesterday and the CPU went to the roof, especially Core 2 is always super hot.

I am thinking if it is worth changing the thermal paste ether to Noctua NH-1 or Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra. The GPU temps for me are super fine.

Any advice from guys experienced with this model.

PS I had my old x9000 overclocked at 3.4 and undervolted 100mV and still the CPU is find today besides running most of the time at about 90C.

You can check my temps and disassembly guide, earlier in this thread.

At 100% load (prime95) I am staying roughly at 80C Cpu if I'm correct, 25C ambient

Can you please send me the post ID. There are 800+ pages.

Is there any information about thermal paste that you use. I have seen better results in very high temps with Noctua NH-1 than with others on my R9 290.

Also how are the GPU temps. It seems that thermal paste job is not that good in this one :/

One more thing. Who uses sager utilities for the laptop ?

EDIT: I had some very poor battery life. Also i noticed that Nvidia GPU Activity icon changes to ON and OFF. Litteraly i am spending 1% of battery per 1 min. I might format the laptop when i change the thermal paste.

I an thinking between Coollabotratory Ultra and GC-Extreme for thermal paste. For CLU I am worried if i might need to lap the heatsink and because laptop is a moving PC it might not be a good thing to do. I don't like having my CLU dried up but as I heard that those issues are solved.

I don't want to buy ICD7 (I dont want to scratch the heatsink because i will move a lot with my laptop and i had this issue with Gateway P laptop) or Noctua-NH1.

I've been wondering why since my upgrade to Windows 10, my fans for both cpu and gpu are always turn on. It use to be that they turn on when temps hit 50c and off when below. I reinstalled Windows 8.1 to see if it was windows 10, yet fans remained the same. This shouldn't be a problem, but I find it gathering dust a lot faster. I'm starting to think the EC I flashed is what's causing the behavior. Do windows 10 have access the EC, like it has for the BIOS?
I'm not sure, but I think it might be Intel XTU. It's been giving me BSOD "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error and it blamed ntoskrnl.exe ever since I upgraded to windows 10. I do remember Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller also causing IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL as well. I updated Realtek to driver version 10.1.505.2015 from microsoft update catalog.

You can try reflashing your EC under windows 8.1 and then go back to 10, but the bios/EC flash is much more likely to be the culprit.

I have both stock bios/EC from Sager, but there are some extra files in the folder that wasn't in Prema's stock bios/EC. Would it be safe to flash Sager's bios/EC? The extra files are named GMSDM.exe, and OAIDDOS.exe. Not sure what they are for.

    Avoid coollaboratory on laptops !

go with IC-7 simply application (you just put a dot on the middle of your cpu/gpu), fast curing time and really great performance :).

Oooh signs of life! Just had a call from Scan asking for my laptop password. They now have my Microsoft account password - feels a bit wrong but oh well. When I set up a guest account for them, I forgot to give it admin privileges. Oops. When I asked about the payment and how long it'll take before dispatching, he said he'll get someone to call me back. I hope that they do.

I'm having issues with Hotkey (v 3.20.35, but tried others too) and custom fan speed settings.
Even when I set it to 40 deg fan off and 50 deg fan on, it stays off untill 80-90 degress and then goes berserk for 20-30 seconds until temps are lowered.

I'm using Win7, ThrottleStop and Premamod v2 with silent settings, but it has been a problem all the time regardless of Premamod or version of Hotkey.

The best I can do right now is using Automatic Mode, which means it starts at below 50 and ramps up too quickly if I use it for a short heavy task of 20 seconds or so.

Anybody got Hotkey working? I would like 65 degrees or something, but it just won't do it right :/

I second this, Custom Fan Settings does not work at all. The only way to speed the fan early is to just manually hit Fn+1.

Got a little update already :)
Using v3.03.10 from XMG's repo for Win7 (Found in first post in this thread under downloads) makes it work (Somewhat).

The interface is however quite buggy and buttons don't work so well and so on, but the actual control does have an impact.

I've got throttlestop showing my temperatures in the taskbar and I've noticed that the temps spike whenever there is a load. I know this is common with CPU's, but it disturbs the control, because it stays off because of low temperature, but the actual temperature has risen in the meantime. When the CPU load goes up the temp change by up to 20 degrees instant, so the fan kicks off drastically.

I've set it for 40 off and 50 on, but it does it at around 60-65, but at least my fan is less annoying.

What we really should do is ask premamod, if he by accident would know which methods in the dsdt tables of the bios exactly control the fanspeed and then make our own little script that handles the fan in a more subtle way.

Don't know how to reference maybe @premamod? so I did this.
sry if it's not right to do it that way..

I'm wondering if I have a faulty trackpad. Can someone else confirm. When I try to do a two finger scroll, the only way the track pad recognizes my two fingers are if I separate them pretty wide. If they are close together (like I would do on a mac), it just moves the mouse around. Is this the same for everyone?

Definetly an error. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? On Clevo site, updated ones for Windows 10(if you have it) have just been posted. If you have the default settings regarding the touchpad, and reinstalling doesn't help, you can try contacting your reseller to discuss this problem, since it's hardware related. Also, try the edge zones to see if there you can scroll keeping your fingers close.

Try the other EC in Prema's mod. I believe it's named 'cool' or something along those lines. I believe silent purposely reduces the fan activity below that of the stock Clevo EC, which may be the root of the problem.

I also have this problem on Windows 10. I tried 3 different drivers and they are all the same. Even if one of them worked it's impossible to get windows 10 to stop updating it without turning off updates all together.

I hope it's not a hardware issue and I don't have time right now to install 7 or 8 to see if it works in them. Maybe I'll have time next week...

I know CLU is not the best paste for things that move a lot. Any other reason ?

There is nothing wrong with using ICD 7 even with laptops. With the backplate/heatsink installed properly, the ICD won't scratch anything as the heatsink won't be moving around. Its physically impossible actually when screwed down properly. I've done many laptops with ICD7 and never had scratches and they were moved around a lot. The scratching people were having was from improper cleanup afterwards. You have to apply proper solvent to break down the ICD 7 first then wipe it up properly.

And stay away from CLU in general, with so much movement, it wouldnt be hard for some of the compound to be leaked out and onto the board or even onto the cpus caps under the IHS. And with it highly conductive, that's a short waiting to happen.

Basically ICD 7 is your best bet. I heard Gelid is good too. Or even the noctua one.

I think i might go with Geldi. I have tried ICD7 and Noctuna. It seems that Geldi is a bit better than others.

Also is there any reason why i have such a bad battery life, I beryl had 2 hours. It seems that the dGPU is not turning off properly after flashing to PREMA bios and the Nvidia icon keeps turning on and off.

@Meaker I reinstalled windows 8.1 on a spare hard drive and then reflash the bios and EC. Both fans still stays on, I even tried Ubuntu to see if it's just windows that's forcing the fans to stay on. Maybe it's EC version 1.03.10, my laptop had version 1.03.08. I'm not going to miss with the bios/EC again. It's best if I leave it alone before I do something I regret.

Yet this bothers me that this started happening after upgrading to windows 10. Has anyone else had this happen to them, where both fans stay on and never turn off? The fans do lower itself, but never turn off. However, with EC version 1.03.10, I can use Clevo Hotkey to control the custom fan setting and using it turns off the fans. Yet it has a delay in responding to the temps, or follows a different fan curve.

    BIOS version: 1.03.09RLS1
    EC version: 1.03.10

No just go and adjust the sensitivity in the synaptic settings. Set it to minimum and your fingers can be close together.

Everything components in a laptop are close to each other especially in a thin form factor,:

    1 - coollaboratory is conductive
2 - the pressure of a laptop heatsink is not really good for coollaboratory
3 - to remove it you are going to scratch your cpu, and since a laptop has a delidded cpu...
4 - To apply Coollaboratory you need to be able to manually control the fan (check the website), this is not the case for a laptop but for desktop pwm fans.

I had applied Liquid Ultra in my W230SS and it was the best result in temperature i could achieve. There was no need for "burn in" (i think this is what you mean with fan control? And that you maybe mean the thermal metal pads?). I could remove it half a year after i had applied it very easy just with a tissue. But i would not suggest to use it for everyone generally because if handled wrong one might brick his laptop.

Liquid pro hardens fast and is very hard to remove. Metal pads also. Liquid Ultra was quite fluid....
