Been 10 months since I got my machine... no overheat issues, the Liquid Ultra paste I used did not seep out from CPU/Heatsink. Temperatures are still very good even after all the constant traveling and moving about.
I think this will be a winner for the time to come... or until they release a pascal desktop gpu+desktop cpu laptop. Though that Clevo P775DM/P875DM are looking good...

There's a P875DM?
What's the difference from the P870DM? -

Just stopping in to learn more about the P650SG build quality. How is the hinge quality? Anyone having any issues? Does it stand the test of time?
I am looking into the new P650RG and it uses the same chassis as the P650SG.
Any insight is appreciated. -
Hey everyone, I've got Monster Tulpar T5 v4.1.1 (Clevo P650SE) last week and I'm extremely pleased with it.
I want to buy an 144hz external monitor (likely to be ASUS VG248QE) in order to use 970m GTX more efficiently
. I'm wondering one thing... If I get a G-Sync monitor, will it work through DP v1.2 on P650SE?
I can't get the basics of how Optimus tech works... Is Display Port bind to Intel HD 4600 or nVidia? What is iGPU? There is a BIOS setting regarding to iGPU in Prema mod, what is that? Can we disable integrated intel graphics? These are questions I currently have
.
-
Optimus basically turns off the Nvidia card if you are doing something like watching youtube to save battery, you can change a setting in Nvidia control panel that makes every program default to the GPU if you want. I'm fairly certain the DP is technically connected to both the cards, although that requires a whole explanation of how computers output video. If your question is if you can use the 970m exclusively and use it with multiple external monitors, the answer is yes, you can output to up to 3 external monitors (1 HDMI, 2 DP) using the 970m and Intel HD, depending on the content being outputted and how you have configured Nvidia Control Panel.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No in this machine the displays are hard wired to the igp and therefore the igp dictates the display output capabilities. So no g-sync.
-
This is probably true, I forgot about the g-sync part anyway haha.

The new models have a switch to let you use the dgpu.

I ordered a Eurocom m5 (p650se) with the 4710 and Got a free upgrade without me knowing to the i7-5700. Anyone have this and know what the temps are like and is the premamod bios for the (I'm assuming) p650se-a based off the latest bios and does it give all options? On his site it says "crash hot-fix"

To the person asking about build quality, its still like new! The hinges feel great, keyboard is amazing.
The only thing that bugs me, and I mean REALLY bugs me is the trackpad. It is just terrible. My cheap chromebook has MUCH better tracking and 2 finger scroll actually works properly. It's a shame because other than that issue, everything is fine! Just wish they had a 14 inch model

What's funny is that you dug up some water under the bridge from a week ago and called someone a troll because you're either too autistic or too dumb to get a joke. I don't back down from imbeciles like you.

Anyway, on a more thread-related note, I solved my touchpad left-click issue (left click considered always on, prevents the use of touchpad).
Following the advice of LoneWolfs (he sent his laptop for servicing, the guys here told him that some dirt went in the mechanism), I carefully cleaned mine. Here are a few picture - illustrated steps in case it happens to someone else.
1) Start with removing the back of your laptop. I assume there are plenty of guides to do so already, it is just about setting a few screws off. Disconnect the battery, and remove it by unscrewing the three screws attaching it to the laptop. You are left with this:
Under the battery, and with a surprising ease of access (thanks Clevo!), lies the touchpad.
2) Untight the circled screws
3) You can now unset the touchpad, turn it upside down, untight the circled scews, and carefully disconnect the few flat cables by lifting the levers on the associated pads.
4) And here you go, you have the click mechanism that can be furtherly separeted from the fingerprint scanner.
At this point, I blew compressed air from a can in between the parts, trying to remove as much dirt as I could from the piece (as though there was not that much to be seen). I also used a cotton swab to remove some dirt from fingerprint scanner. Nevertheless it worked, when everything was put back in left click was on!adampk17 likes this. -

I have noticed two recent issues on Windows 10 since getting my P651SG back. Firstly there's occasionally some very noticeable stutter in OS animations. It doesn't happen all the time, leading me to believe that it's a software issue rather than lack of GPU power (even a HD 4600 should be able to power a 4K display with the basic OS animations, surely?). Secondly, the trackpad has become noticeably worse than before, becoming completely unresponsive for what feels like 10-15 seconds or so at a time. This is an issue with my brother's Acer laptops too on Windows 10 (except much, much worse) so I know it's not Clevo-specific.
Bonus issue that isn't Windows 10 related: iTunes is a god awful software. I recently treated myself to an Apple-refurbished iPad as my very first tablet ever and since I've installed iTunes the fans on my P651SG never stop spinning. Turns out iTunes is guzzling CPU like a black hole guzzles... well everything. 50%+ CPU usage just by having the software running in the background. It is seriously annoying. Unbelievably bad. -
Glad to see you made it work again. And thank you for the pictures regarding how to dissasemble the touchpad. It will be helpful if it happens again.
-
Hey try using the windows 8.1 touchpad drivers instead of the windows 10 provided ones. Also gide the touchpad driver update that windows likes to install from synaptics. Once I did these two things, the touchpad now works beautifully.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes my touchpad required an update over the set built into 10, they were rubbish.

Though you weren't being constructive to begin with.
Played for 4 years in school, it makes watching the game so much more enjoyable.
You could try changing the sensitivity, heard that adjusting this can help with 2 finger scrolling. -

Well, I did some research. I don't mind the absence of G-Sync anymore because 144hz alone is pretty enough for a good gaming experience. But I still have some questions.
I read somewhere that, on some laptops, Mini Display Port 1.2 is not directly connected to iGPU (HD 4600), it is connected to the dGPU instead. What about P650se?
I've ordered an Mini Display port to Display port v1.2 cable in order to use Asus VG248QE in 144hz, is it going to work?
Also can I upgrade my Core i7 4720HQ cpu to 5700HQ?
-
I can't say anything for how the mDP is connected but I can say that sadly no you cannot upgrade your CPU, it is soldered to the mobo.

One user said that they were able to get 144Hz out of the mini display port on their system. You will not be able to upgrade the CPU because it is soldered into the motherboard.

Could i ask whether anyone has played DiRT Rally with their GTX 970M? Just wondering what kind of performance others can achieve with this game. Mine runs alright at the maximum graphical settings, but i can't have any more than 2x MSAA anti-aliasing because otherwise the framerate drops start becoming noticeable. I did think about an overclock with MSI Afterburner but i'm not sure what the limit with this would be. My CPU and GPU temperatures are only around 50° to 60° while playing so there's more than enough room for a considerable overclock.

vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
just wondering anyone here encounter any bluetooth issues with win10 on this laptop? I recently been experiencing an issue with my bluetooth speaker. It randomly likes to disconnects when its playing music or if my volume goes too high it likes to disconnects or it'll reset the volume to lowest and I gotta turn it up but once i turn it up it resets back to lowest volume again. So 2 issues I have. I tried to update my bluetooth driver after experiencing those issues but now it seems that my bluetooth is broken and I can't get it back.

Make sure that power saving is disabled on the wireless adapter in device manager.

With latest bios update, the clevo control center started working for me on Windows 10.

Remember to clean your fans!
6 months later I have a dense layer of dust on each grill and after removing it, the cpu fan is not noisy at all anymore
All the cooling paste in the world won't make a difference if this is not cleaned ;-)jeanjackstyle likes this. -
Anyone having problems with the Nvidia GTX 980M in the Sager NP 8652 running Windows 10? Mine has been having TDR errors ("the Nvidia driver has stopped responding" popup in the lower right), and it almost immediately blue screens and reboots when this happens. I have the latest Nvidia and Intel graphics drivers installed. I've done a clean Windows re-install, and that hasn't helped. This seems to happen when the light indicating that it switches between the integrated graphics and Nvidia graphics turns on/off. I tried setting it to always use the Nvidia graphics in the Nvidia control panel, but it doesn't seem to always follow that setting.
-
Had a similar problem with different model, probably a hardware issue. My GPU died ~half a year after these messages started to appear.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It is a very general message, can you get the machine to actually play a game properly ever?

Thanks i know.... but have tried to post it there but the form keeps giving errors :-(

No offense, but how on earth did you spend over $3K on a laptop...and only use it for browsing =]
On another note, has anyone purchased a PSU other than that stock SAGER one? That sucker is spendy. I'm running the 8652 and I'm getting rather tired of moving the PSU with me between my office and home.
Thanks! -

I haven't really checked in for non-OEM ones before, so I don't have advice on that part. But if you can get a spare, it's worth it to not have to pack and unpack everything on the daily.

Your reseller can source one for you. Third party bricks mostly stop around the 120w mark.

Thanks for the reply guys. I didn't buy direct from a reseller, purchased this a few months used.
What do these units run from the both of you, you can PM if more appropriate. Thanks.

Guys I have a big problem. So starting with today, my PC crashes constatly, giving me BSOD and the error THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (Nvlddmkm.sys). I tried uninstalling the drivers, reverting back to previous ones, disabling from Device Manager, and this http://ccm.net/faq/6210-nvidia-nvlddmkm-sys-error-message. Well nothing worked, and my PC crashes less than a minute after booting in desktop. I have no overclock, just Prema Mod (nearly two months with it and no problem). Right now I disabled the dGPU in BIOS and the PC works again. I have a GTX970M 3GB version on a P650SE.
EDIT:Forgot to say that this started on 358.50, and reverting to 355.98 didn't help.
