Is there ram from the front of where the keyboard is?

Cause on my p651SG the ram slots are on the back of the motherboard.

I saw in the manual that underneath the keyboard there should be ram slots but i never bothered taking out the keyboard cause it seems too difficult to do..

Most people will fill the ram under the keyboard so you are unlikely to need to do it anyway even when adding more ram.

I guess I won't need to replace the ones on my keyboard because I don't have any more ram I will be adding to this system. I think 16GB is good enough no?

Hey guys, just wanted to ask a quick question. So I want to install an SSD into my P650SE. But I already have a mechanical drive and I know that an extra SSD won't fit with it. Because of that, I want to do it like how HTWingnut did, open the chasis of the SSD and only install the card. But I don't want to void my warranty so I need an SSD with the screws NOT covered by the posterior sticker so I can take out the screws without damaging the sticker. Can you guys, if you know, tell me some SSDs which meet my criteria? (intel ssds are not available in my country :/)

Why not just get an m.2 SSD, then you don't have to go through all this trouble

I am aware of that, but I'm not a fan of m.2 ssds since I want to be able to use it later on my desktop and my mobo doesn't have m.2 support. Plus the price difference :)

No i did not see your earlier post. Can you please refer me to that post via a link. The button suddenly stopped working while i was pretty much doing nothing but reading at the library. Yes, I am using Mouse 2 button but still i would like to have it working again.

The rest is great, just a fantastic laptop, no complains for anything else besides CPU temp. I am used to heaving a cooler FX 8350 at 4.7Ghz, so i guess i am just too spoiled for the CPU temp i get in this laptop.

BTW the community here is cool. Thumbs up :D

Yeah but thermal limit on AMD CPUs is like 60C, so not absolutely comparable to Intel.

Intel runs hotter by design, thermal limit is ~100C so 70C under load is perfectly fine. Nothing to be concerned about. What AMD runs at load, Intel idles at.

AMD cpu's are not even close to being comparable to an Intel...
my 5700HQ idles around 38 degrees Celsius and under full load battlefield 4 or csgo 300fps, it is 80 degrees Celsius with the gtx980m.
This is actually pretty good, considering that my h100 4.8ghz i7-2600K desktop idles also around mid 30's....
The benchmarks on 3dmark physics scores are also pretty damn close.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6653135 my desktop GTX980, look at the firestrike score... i am running 4.5ghz instead of 4.8ghz that time of the benchmark.

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9309771 my p651sg-a.

I see people raving about IC Diamond thermal paste...but then I read tons of reviews about its abrasiveness. I have a couple tubes of MX-4 at my disposal. Any good reasons why I shouldn't repaste with it and buy something else?

MX-4 has always pumped out when I've used it... Was as bad as stock Dell paste in my Alienware... Can't say the same about ICD :)

Nope, I went ahead and applied MX4. I find something that was a bit concerning. I soaked each surface with 91% isopropyl before removing the old paste, and you can see where the surface of the copper grain imprinted on the die. It appears that my idle temps are already quite improved.

Anything I should be worried about?

ICD gives decent temp drops, maybe not the best out there, but is fairly simple to apply. As for the abrasiveness, I've never seen it once that it has voided a warranty or anything along those lines. I know people have asked about that before, but we have never had any issues come up that I'm aware of, simply because it was the thermal paste that was chosen.

Skip the IC diamond, it rashes the CPU surface.
I use the MX-4 now from now on.

Is the "rashing" consistent with this? I wasn't very happy about this. I don't know if IC was on there before, not sure what was.

If you look closely you can see where the grooves from the copper are permanently visible. This is after thoroughly soaking with Isopropyl Alchohol, and gently removing with a lint-free cloth soaked in Isopropyl.

You do have to be careful removing the paste, a gentel touch will avoid most issues. The discoloration will not impact performance (and neither will scratches of the size caused either).

That's right. Marring the surface is pretty difficult to avoid with this paste, but it's not exactly detrimental. Consequently, Gelid GC Extreme is about as efficient without the nano diamond particles that cause this scratching. I hear great things about coollaboratory's Liquid Ultra too, albeit it being conductive (and therefore more risky).

It will also discolour the copper too (the liquid ultra), I use it on my own machine, not for everyone though (nor every heatsink design).

    Thanks guys.

As to the color discoloration, nothing a little ketchup won't clean ;)

I have never had great success with the fingerprint reader, sometimes the driver seams to load and sometimes it doesn't.

I AM happy to report that I'm running Star Wars Battlefront on ultra with ~80 FPS =D

The MX4 is doing just fine. Keeps my idling below 50, never was before, and while running SWBF above, occasionally peaks into the low 80s, but stays high 70s pretty well.
