You can also check mySn.co.uk but there's a thread with all clevo resellers in Europe (so UK too) starred at the root of Sager/Clevo sub-forum
Defiance is the name pcspecialist sells the barebone, on mySN the names are P505/506 (last number is proc gen)

I would attempt a repaste. I have monitored my recent use of my laptop under load and confirmed the temperatures are still fine on Win10 and latest PremaMod BIOS/vBIOS. No undervolt on my end since and peak temperatures under gaming load is 83C with turboboost on.

EDIT: I have yet to repaste the Liquid Ultra...

Anyone know if the LCD has drivers or color profiles? Everything on the panel seems to be a bit over saturated compared to my Dell at home.

I need a little guidance here as I don't quite understand how this works. I've got an 8652 with the 980.

I've read enough to understand that our rigs don't support g-sync, but can they still run 144Hz? I don't care about that refresh rate when the igpu is active, only in-game.

Is there something I would need to look for in a monitor?

For instance, a decent deal in this monitor:
    http://slickdeals.net/f/8349627-24-...aming-monitor-for-199-w-free-shipping-rakuten

I know it supports amd "freesync", but does that preclude me from running it at 144Hz?

The monitor must support 120 or 144Hz through displayport or minidisplayport. You can then connect it to the mdp on the 8652 and set the intel igpu to run at the desired frequency for only that external monitor.

Intel don't support freesync, but yes as above you can drive it at the desired frequency so long as the monitor reports it to the intel IGP as an officially supported resolution.

I’m having a issue with my laptop randomly shutting off. No error massage is given as to why, I fear that it maybe a hardware problem. The laptop is not overheating, I’ve been monitoring the temperatures of the cpu and gpu while playing a game (Wildstar) and the temperatures was between 48-60C for both cpu and gpu with max fan speed. With no max fan speed the temperatures increase about 6-7c. So temperatures are below 70c, yet the laptop shuts off. Only seems to be happening while playing games.

If it’s not the random shut down, then it’s a bsod blaming the synaptics SynTP.sys driver. I've it disabled while playing games. I’ve tried the latest and old synaptics touchpad drivers and get the same result. I've even tried Hotkey version 3.03.10, the bsod and random shut downs still happens. The problems occurred about a month ago.

Even went back to using the drivers provided by Sager (including Clevo and mysn.de), still receiving the same problems. I'm currently doing a clean install of Windows 10 to see if that fixes the problem. What could the random shut downs mean? Or could it be related to the touchpad driver?

That's very strange behaviour & two seemingly unrelated issues, but weird stuff can happen if your system RAM is unstable - might be worth running Memtest86+ from a bootable USB (instructions on memtest website) - this will check your system RAM for errors and instability.

Uninstall the hotkey driver. I dont have a link or file to the older version before it started having this bug however. As for random shutdown, did you ever update the BIOS beyond stock?

Been asleep all day, I try that after the laptop is done reinstalling windows.
I've tried using Hotkey version 3.05.16 and it still did a random shut down. I have flashed a newer BIOS that I got from Sager, which is Stock BIOS/EC: 1.03.09RLS1 | 1.03.10. Previously was Stock BIOS/EC: 1.03.09RLS1 | 1.03.08. But the Bios was flashed way before this started happening, like before the release of Windows 10. This issue started about a month ago, the only things that installed around that time frame was updated Intel graphics, and Nvidia Graphics. Thought that was the problem and used DDU again to uninstall the drivers. Even did a system restore two weeks before the issue arise.

I think I used memtest86 instead of memtest86+(didn't realize the "+"), so not sure if theirs a difference between the two (I'm sure their are). The test ran for 10 and half hours and gave no errors.

I don't know the differences between Memtest86 and 86+, but I do know that 86+ is newer, and when I had a RAM problem about 3 years ago I used Memtest86+ to find the errors. That memtest86 is stable is encouraging though, I don't know if 86+ is more thorough or not - you might want to research that to see if it's worth spending the time to run the test again on 86+.

I would suspect the power brick, monitor your battery levels after a restart, see if they have dropped a bit. Also check if the battery is hot.

Anyone else rolling Star Wars Battlefront on their 8652?

I've been running it at full Ultimate in full-screen mode (windowed gives quite a performance hit), and avg ~80FPS @ stock, no OC/UV. I'm going to tone down the settings a bit when my new monitor comes so I can take advantage 144Hz.

    Thanks!

I'd say ~80 fps on ultra is pretty good overall. The notebook check site with games FPS by graphics card puts similar systems about 75fps.

My XMG p505 arrived on Monday

    Experience with mysn.de:
    + prompt responses to email
    + helpful staff in general
+ good docs / faqs on their websites
+ drivers and manuals included on usb stick
    - took bit longer than expected to get the thing

My first impressions with the laptop itself are positive. I've installed Win7 on it and got drivers working fine. I've test-run some more recent games on Ultra/High settings: top notch performance and the laptop barely even gets warm.

The build quality is not that great, I'd say. While the body itself is solid and it was easy enough get access to the drive bay to add my own ssds, the screen container is not that great. Which brings me to the next thing: IPS BACKLIGHT BLEEDING.

I've taken some photos of the screen while running darker games (thief 2 and darkmod):

    http://imgur.com/a/g94Ov

I've also sent these to the support team and, even though at first they said this is NORMAL, offered to have it refunded.

    What do you guys think?

If I were to get it refunded, are there any other 15' gaming laptops with normal (TN) screens?

edit: also, barely any fan noise

I don't have any noticeable backlight bleeding with my P505, though I agree the plastic front mounting for the screen isn't the best. On the other hand, I managed to drop something heavy and metal on the back of the metal screen lid which has made a noticeable cosmetic dent (though screen itself is fine), but MySN have said that they can replace the metal screen cover (for a fee) without having to replace the screen itself, so at least the design is repairable (unlike on a Mac). The screen itself I'm very happy with - do you have the same make and model screen as me?

Apart from the plastic screen surround, I think the build quality elsewhere is actually very good, better than MSI and Gigabyte anyway, though not as robust as Alienware. Since I've owned it in February everything still seems to be working okay and no parts have broken (excepting the dent I caused in the lid) or are looking worn-out. The trackpad isn't as good as my Mac's, but is better than the MSI trackpads that I've used, and I actually like the physical buttons on it. Keyboard is pretty good too.

I've managed to moderately OC the GPU (it will take more OCing, but I don't need to, as all the games I've played run at good FPS anyway), and installed the Prema Mod system bios so that my 2133Mhz RAM can run at it's full speed. I've had no problems with excessive heat or throttling and fan noise, even under load, is acceptable (and very quite when not under load)

Battery life has been a little better than I was expecting, though nothing like my Macbook Air's.

I'm still very happy with my purchase, though the new, smaller Clevo P640RE is tempting me...

I have backlid bleeding at almost exact spots. There are some guides on teh internet how to fix that but i didnt try them. I was too lazy. I might try them after school if finished because I will re-pase CPU and GPU and I will install windows 10 again and probably gentoo or manjaro linux.

Well the thing is the bezel around the screen is sometime loose for me...so i have some annoying clipping sound, it doesn't want to be correctly fixed around the screen...

    Hi guys

Can you help me. I have the P650SE everything seemed to work fine until today I plugged in my Samsung S5 and tried to copy photos. The PC message comes up saying it would be faster to connect to USB3 port? I was already plugged into the port so tried the other two ports and same message. Changed USB cable for original Samsung cable that came with phone and same issue. I'm running Win 7 64 bit. What's the correct updated driver? That's the only thing I can think of? Any help is appreciated. I also get a message saying unrecognized USB device when I plug in to left hand side (power USB port).

    Regards

AFAIK the P650 models have a brushed aluminium finish, whereas the P651 have a matte sandblasted finish - I have an XMG P505, which is basically a rebranded P651SE, and this has the matte sandblasted finish, which I really like. It's not completely matte, as has subtle little sparkly bits in it. The XMG version I have also has a large "XMG" logo lazer-etched into the lid, rather than a badge, which also looks good.

Also, I don't know if it's specific to the XMG models, but the outline around the rear fans is black, whereas I've seen some other Clevo/Sager models have it outlined in chromed silver.

When you connect your phone, pull the menu down from the notifications bar on top. Should give you a message saying "Connected as a media device" and tap that. Select to connect it as a USB 3.0 device, though it does give you a warning that it may interfere with calls or data while in effect.

hey guys, what's the minimum psu can i use with this laptop?
I'll not be gaming when using the lower wattage power supply, will be using for browsing or watching movies/videos.
Will a 90w psu be enough or should i get a 120w one?

how much power does the np8652 consume when watching a 1080p video on the wall?
do you guys have any idea?

    I saw a review that the np8652 consumes around 100watts in 3Dmark06

I'm not certain that using a low wattage power adapter for charging a depleted battery is the best idea - I know from my KillaWatt meter that my power adapter uses up to 110W just charging the battery & surfing the web, most of that wattage is due to the charging of the battery. Charging the battery is quite demanding on the PSU.

The screen uses a fair bit and 110W from the wall is not far off 90W from the brick itself so it's close. I'd avoid turning it on though.

Well, today is my p650se's birthday.

No issues at all and it still runs quite cool. However, it runs a bit hotter than ever specially when I over clock it (nothing to worry about though).

I'm wondering what kind of paste should I use this time. It had Artic MX paste and it worked Well for a year Or so. I must say that it has suffered long hard gaming playtimes. Happy with that.

What do you suggest? Any advice for the repasting procedure of this specific model?

Gelid GC extreme and IC diamond are both popular choices.

My backlight bleeding is also @ the same spot. How did this end for you? Did you get a replacement? Is it without backlight bleeding?

It's not surprising since the bleed will be impacted by the mounting of the panel in the bezel, the patterns in similar models will be similar.

The level will vary by panel and bezel fit, but the pattern produced will be the same.

You will have some bleed (the panel is not perfect black with the backlight on ;) )
