Agreed, I'm too scared of Liquid Metal and tbh unsure about how to clean it out when it comes to repasting!

Well, it is a mess to clean of you want to quit liquid metal, if it is to repaste with the same stuff it's OK...
Liquid metal is a commitment, but I do vouch for it, you have to be careful but it is not that annoying in the end. -

I personally only use Shin Etsu. Unless other brands can guarantee at least 10C drop in temps I don't want to experience the hassle of getting any specialized tims.

Thermals are great in this machine compared to the size.
The only problem i had so far is nve support, must find a way to fix headphone jack with linux, and my touch pad left button is not working.

i have an odd question. what does the indicator led to the far left indicate exactly? i've seen it blink pretty much every time the system boots up, and the manual doesn't say anything about what it is. it looks to me like an overclock meter or something, but i don't want to make assumptions.

Yes, it's so if it flashes on the desktop you know something is activating it and wasting power.

Yes, that's quite common for people to do, it's partly the reason that light is there to help diagnose when people complain of lower battery life.

My point is, can I get a replacement chassis for this laptop? I paid big bucks for this laptop and the cheapest part of it was only damaged (and maybe nicked the corner of the battery)
Is there anything I can do? I got it directly from Sager.Last edited: Aug 17, 2016 -

Best you can do is contact them and see what their response is. I think that if you pay for it, you can probably replace the part that bent (and not the entire chassis) but for the money they will probably ask, I would keep it like it is if there are no functionality problems with it.

Here's a pic of the damage: (took the bottom off the laptop, hense why you see exposed PCB)

Edit: sorry for the double post, I am doing this on my phone.. And I am sorta panicking right now since I paid a lot of money for this laptop.

Talk to your reseller about it.

I seem to be having an issue with my touchpad in the last 3 hours or so. My left touchpad button seems to be stuck to the pressed position all the time but the physical button is on its normal position. You can see that on the Synaptics icon on the system tray. This also happens even in Windows installation as well as in my Linux partition. I opened it up, removed the touchpad module and gave it a good clean but the freaking button is still stuck pressed.
Has anyone had this issue before? I suppose my only option is to send it in? Hopefully it fixes itself in the next few days because I have assignments due shortly and can't be without my PC for long. -
Does anybody know anything about the digital audio output on the P650SG?
I have 2 audio outputs, 1st to some Klispch Promedia 2.1 speakers and 2nd to O2 headphone amp then to AKG Q701 headphones.
Headphone Output------> 2.1 speakers
Digital Audio Output ------> O2 Headphone Amp ------> AKG Q701 Headphones
Is this the correct way to setup or should I switch it. The reason I'm putting the Digital Audio Output on my actual headphones is that they are way more expensive than the Klipsch 2.1 speakers. They both have 3.5mm jacks so I'm confused. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -

Well magically the touchpad fixed itself overnight... hopefully it stays that way for a long time
EDIT: That didn't last long... touchpad key is back to being stuck. I opened it up again and tried to boot it without the mousekey module connected on the touchpad but Synaptics still shows it being stuck so that probably means something in the circuit is bad and I can't do much. Tomorrow it is going back for a warranty repair.Last edited: Apr 4, 2016 -
Has anyone successfully output to more than 2 external monitors with the P650se? If so, how did you do it?!
I have been trying to output to 3 monitors without success using 3 hdmi cables and two mini-dp>hdmi adapters (both passive and active varieties). I have tried with the internal display deactivated through Windows 7 as well.
I have searched the forum and found a handful of users who have asked this question but without any definitive answers/solutions. I note that most of the resellers' state in their spec sheet for the P650se that output to 3 external displays can be done. Any ideas? -

Try using at least a single pure displayport monitor.

Anyone currently running a 3+ monitor setup with the P650se? -

Hi gang, I'm new to these forums and I'm looking to pick upone of these models in the second hand market or go for a newer RE version with the skylake processor/motherboards.
Does any have any figures around gains for effiency/battery life from the Haswell to Skylake? Apart from that and the USB 3.1 port, I don’t believe there are any other differences?
Has anyone encountered any heat issues after installing 2x 7mm SSDs? I believe they sit on top of each other? After having an SSD an aluminium enclosure heat up warmly after about 30 minutes of transferring files, I’m a little concerned installing 2x SSDs that sit closely together. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
DDR4 allows a greater amount of ram and the maximum storage speed doubles from around 1.7GB/sec to up to 3-3.4GB/sec.
Most SSDs are fine together. -
Thank you for the prompt response!
Another question (I'm trying to go through the whole thread but 900+ pages is taking its time lol).
After doing a fresh install of Windows 10 and letting Updates do its thing, are there any drivers directly from Clevo that I should install? I might skip the Hotkeys application given the potential touchpad issues. -
Personally I installed all the drivers from the Clevo site, then updated them using Device Manager in WIndows. Also, you need to get the generic drivers instead of Clevo ones for the Nvidia GPU, everything related to Intel, the Realtek sound driver and the Realtek pcie gbe family controller. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes always worth updating the GPU drivers straight from Nvidia, you can just install them over the top of the existing ones.

I can't seem to get my internal camera and microphone working. I've never actually tried it before, as hadn't need it, but now I do (specifically the microphone) and it doesn't seem to be working. When I use the Fn key with F10 (the one with the camera icon on) nothing happens and when I launch the Camera app from the start menu it says: "We can't find your camera"
When I look in device manager, I'm seeing no devices listed under Imaging devices nor is it listed under Sound, video and game controllers. The internal microphone is not listed as an available recording device in the Sound control panel (i.e. the panel brought up when right clicking the speaker icon in the task bar). I recently had the top cover on my XMG P505 replaced by mysn.co.uk - is it possible they accidentally disconnected the camera and microphone?
Or am I just missing the drivers for it? If so, where can I get these from?
The only thing I can see in recording devices is the Mic input jack on the side -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
Clevo only provided a camera driver for Windows 7. On Windows 8.1 and 10 you don't need a driver as far as I know, but I think it is essential that Clevo Control Center is installed in the system. As for the microphone, it is right next to the camera but I think it has its own driver, which is bundled with the Realtek Sound drivers. If both don't work with all these drivers installed on your system, it is very possible that there is a connection issue inside the chassis, like someone forgot to plug it in after reassembly.
Removing the screen bezel and checking underneath it to see if the cables are all in place is actually very easy to do and I don't think it will cause you any warranty problems. It is definitely worth a try before you send it back in. Here is a screen replacement video just to get the idea of how to remove the bezel if you decide to do so: -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes you will need the control center installed and that's correct about drivers @anmatheextreme
-
I have all the RealTek software installed - it says Audio Driver version 6.0.1.7628 - is this current?
BTW seperate question - is the Sound Blaster software actually needed? I never use it, as my high-end headphones sound fine without any tweaking. -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
The SB app is not needed but why not have it installed in the system just in case you need it in the future? You can always exclude it from the boot so that you can launch it whenever you need it.
There are later versions of the drivers you mentioned out but honestly, the ones you have there should allow the camera and microphone to work. I am almost convinced that this is not a software issue. -
I think it's likley MySN didn't reconnect the camera/mic properly when I had the screen replaced, I will follow this up with their Support. -

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a smaller charger/adapter for my P650SG, so I can carry to school. However I'm not sure which exact model (90W or 120W) should I buy or where to buy it. Do you have any suggestion in Europe (or particularly France) ? Thank you -
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
I wouldn't recommend the 90W as it seems too small for this system. I have however tried using a 120W adapter and it works ok for everything except gaming. So 120W should be what you need.

I'm using a 90W PSU when I'm not at home. If your system is fully charged, it is enougth for basic usage. However, it isn't enougth for the system to charge and operate at the same time !

Something weird has started happening recently in Windows 10 on my XMG P505 (rebadged Clevo P651SE) - I can't seem to being application windows that are minimized or in the background to the front, which is incredibly annoying. Even Alt-tab doesn't work to switch active Windows.
Have I accidently activated some obscure Windows 10 setting? If so, how do I revert this to normal behaviour?
Or could this be related to something else e.g. possibly to recent Nvidia Driver updates? That would be a bit weird, though. -
Sounds like your Applikation opens on an not connected external Monitor. Please try Win Key + left arrow or right arrow to move your App to the internal Monitor.
-
-
I do not know why it happens . I suspect that somewhere a preferred monitor is stored for the Application.
I've seen this before at work. -
Sometimes it even briefly brings the window at the back to the fore, then instantly switches back again to the other application window -

You could try re-installing the intel drivers with a clean install.
