Most drivers and utilities should be fine at this point when upgrading to 10. Maybe the touchpad or soundcard seem to be the most problematic, which usually is fixed by updating the driver or going back to the one the manufacturer recommends, or just uninstalling the specific drivers and going with the default Windows ones.
If you do upgrade to 10 and don't like it, you could roll back to your previous OS within 30 days (just don't delete the "old windows" file on the computer).

I use Windows 10 since it's release (actually this laptop never saw other versions of Windows). I had a driver problem with the Nvidia one some months ago, but other than that everything works good. Also I used Driver Pack to update them. No complaints here.

Don't know where to ask this, so will do it there:
What are the risks if I plug my p650sg on a train 100W rated outlet?
I know that it is dangerous to draw more than 180w from the power brick, but what would happen if I draw too much power for the train outlet? Will the computer shut down (lack of power), can it frill anything? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Are you talking about an AC adapter with 100w output? Or a power outlet that is 100v?
100w would probably not be enough to power the system, except maybe charge the battery while the computer is sleeping/off. It definitely wouldn't be able to power the system under work load. As long as the volts are the same on the AC adapter output are 19.5V, generally you would be okay. If you have more than ~.5V difference from what the system needs, then you are much more likely going to damage the system. If you go under on Watts, you won't power the system, and maybe have a slight risk of damaging the system. If you go over on Watts, the AC adapter will basically deliver the needed amount of power to the system.
100v output on an outlet is going to be ok, as the AC adapter can accept 100-240v coming off the outlet. These are the specs:
Full Range 180W AC Adapter AC-in 100~240V, 50~60Hz, DC output 19.5V, 9.23A
As long as the wall outlet is between 100-240v, then the AC adapter brick will convert it down to the 19.5v, 9.23A to give the computer enough power. Again, low watts might not be able to power the system, but going high on the watts would be fine, as long as the voltage is okay. -

I am talking about plugging my p650 sg, with stock 180w adapter into an outlet in the train.
According to the train website, these outlets are rated 100W, but no clue about voltages or amps. So I wondered if I would be able to put load on the laptop while powered on this outlet, but according to your indocations I won't. -

It depends how the electrics are designed, you could blow a fuse (and would technically be liable for repair costs) or if they are poorly designed then you could get a serious fault and even a fire.
The third option is that they say that to cover themselves and it depends how many other devices are being used at once, maybe they can only supply 100W to each outlet combined but if only half of them being used to max would mean a single one drawing 180W is no issue.
Basically without knowing the design and wiring of the train you have no idea. -

Got all your points meaker.
On the laptop point of view, are there any risks for the internals of the adapter or the computer? Besides shutting down from powerlacking... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Again, it depends on surge protection and the exact wiring, I'd say the risks are low but a spike from over load could take out your brick.

I'll keep it safe then...
Haha now I'm almost ready to take with me a volt/amperemeter to record the quality of this train output... For the sake of every French train gamer -

I managed to run my old P570WM off of a virgin train in the UK using the 330W brick and was able to game, so that's your benchmark

I did a clean install of Windows 10 not so long ago, but only very recently got around to install MSI Afterburner (latest version). When I try to use this, though, it won't let me change any of the clockspeed settings for my 970M GPU - neither the GPU clockspeed nor the vRAM speed. I don't mean above the "normal" +135Mhz limit, which you need Prema's vBios for, just within the normal range. I currently just have the standard XMG 1.05 bios installed and have never touched the vBIOS. The settings bars seem to be locked and no numerical values are accepted either. I've tried clicking on various things to no avail.
I don't remember this being a problem before (though was using the Premamod Bios then, but not the Prema vBios), but then was thinking maybe it's because I also now have Nvidia Inspector installed, which does work, if I try to use this to over clock the GPU - but I prefer the interface for MSI Afterburner, as it seems easier to understand what it's doing. Could it be that Nvidia Inspector is somehow interfering with the operation of MSI Afterburner?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
NB: This was when using Nvidia driver 365.19, I haven't tried yet with the 368.22 driver just released. -

Make sure you have the latest AB and try the latest drivers, the reaction to them has been positive from what I have seen.
-
Should it be okay to use Afterburner and Nvidia Profile Inspector together, instead of NI and NPI? The latter I use for lots of other Nvidia settings tweaks for different games. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I think so, just don't try and flash the bios with both running

i returned mine before even testing it last time, but someone on premamod's page said that this laptop can boot with nvme. did anyone test it out?

I'm going to be doing a fresh Windows 10 install on my P651SG today. Where should I look for the latest drivers? I know many of the reseller websites have the drivers but I'm not sure which one has the best reputation for keeping them fresh.
Thanks in advance. -

If you are all installed then just update the GPU drivers and off you go

Hello. I have a Sager NP-8652 and was wondering if anyone here has experience in servicing the computer's top and bottom case. I ordered the parts from Sager and want to install them myself. However, I cannot find a manual online, other than a clevo p650sg manual. After talking to sager, they have said that manual may be out of date. To be clear, I had structural damage done to the top case. I understand I will have to remove the mobo and laptop screen and speakers in order to replace the top cover. Which tools would be necessary? If need be, I can send pictures.

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Did you try the service manual? If not look for videos on youtube of teardowns, try alternative models of the same chassis too.
-

Usually, with Sagers you can tear most of them down with a small phillips screw driver (the "plus" tip), and maybe need something like a razor blade or something thin to separate or lift a couple pieces apart possibly. You shouldn't need any kind of unusual screw driver heads or security bits. I would agree with Meaker. Check some videos for similar models and you should get an idea if you can do it yourself, and if you would be comfortable with the complete tear down and assembly.

Your reseller may be willing to help walk you through the more basic parts to get to the slots at least.

So lately I have been having some battery troubles that I can't quite understand. Firstly my battery which originally is 59.200mWh is now reporting to be 69300mWh full charge capacity which is not right at all. Also during discharge it reaches about 10% and then immediately jumps to 0% and shuts down shortly after. Tried full discharge cycles down to about 7% and full charge back to 100% but it doesn't seem to calibrate properly and is still reporting bigger capacity. What I also don't understand is that Windows doesn't hibernate my computer anymore even if I change critical battery level to a higher setting. What gives? Is my battery in need of replacement? It's been less than 9 months since I bought my Clevo and I think it's too early to be having battery problems.

I would try a re-install to see if it's the os and driver confused. You could see if a re flash of the BIOS/EC might help otherwise contact your reseller.

Running racing sims on this monitor at 144Hz, like the fantastic Raceroom Racing Experience, is a joy - over 100fps at 1080p and no stuttering or tearing whatsoever, it's all silky smooth. -

Yes it really is nice to get faster than 60hz
I hope intel adopts Freesync at least in the future

My screen is flickering and going dark. Tried unplugging/re-plugging , no use.
Only way I've found that temporarily fixes it is by applying constant pressure on the bottom panel (where the black tape is), otherwise it starts flickering again.
I have tried taping the spot down, but it doesn't apply enough pressure and will keep flickering (any other ideas?).
At first I thought it was a bad cable, but I tried another screen and it works perfectly fine. And since I basically have to apply pressure to the motherboard part of the screen and the fact that at a certain angle, the screen goes dark (though still see-able, prob has something to do with led lights?), makes me think its the screen.
I don't know what exactly is wrong with it or what could have caused this because the screen is relatively new (just had it replaced before my warranty expired...)Last edited: Jul 9, 2016 -

It could be the LED power pins not making proper contact on the connector which could be cable or motherboard slot related.
-
At this point, I'm just going to replace both of them. I can find the screen on ebay, but I cant seem to find the replacement cable. My cable says "for edp(auo/boe) np650"
"6-43-p6501-041-1c"
YY:2014.12.22 a6"
Do you know where I could get such cable or a compatible one? And how would I go about replacing the cable? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Cables are a bit trickier to find. Have you tried reaching out to the seller where your computer was purchased originally? Otherwise, another Clevo seller might be able to get the part for you.
-
I haven't tried contacting my reseller because they have horrible support and take forever to get back to me. Does xoticpc offer parts? Would a cable from another laptop (one that worked with the screen before) work?

Just found a nice program for those who want more sound from the Onkyo speakers. "Equalizer APO 1.1.1". You can boost the sound plenty! Suddenly it can play twice as loud than any driver / software compo I have tried.

-
Turn off adaptive brightness in Settings.

In the Intel HD Graphics drivers there is an option called Display Power Saving Technology under Power/On Battery. Try Disabling it as it adjusts contrast dynamically to save power. I don't think it is enabled when the PC is plugged in but it is worth a try. FWIW I don't have any issue with my 4K monitor but it is the Sharp model.

is there a possibility to turn off keyboard backlight by default? so when laptop boots up, it will be turned off, and if i need, i would turn it on myself. maybe there's something in BIOS? i'm using premamod.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Not sure on Prema mod, but yes, you would want to check in the BIOS.
-

If you have Control Center installed, it remembers your last backlight setting and turns off backlight after boot. But as far as I know, the laptop will always have keyboard backlight on during boot up until CC is loaded up.

Hey people!
So I was thinking about installing OS X on my P650SE and wanted to know your opinions on this. Has anyone tried it, what were the results etc.. Thanks in advance! -
Hi everyone. So the countdown for the free windows 10 upgrade is coming up for me, Does anyone have any stories or resources for this upgrade? I'm on the np8651. Thanks
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
For the most part, the upgrade to 10 is pretty smooth at this point. There were some more issues with drivers when 10 first came out, but you should be good now. Also, if you don't like it you can rollback to your previous version within 30 days. Just don't delete the "old windows" folder in your computer.

i feel i should give an update:
the samsung 950 pro does in fact work perfectly on this laptop. it's limited in speed due to generation of the pcie but it works, and boots without a hitch.
-
And last question: should i disable this pagefile and hibernation? Did a little bir research but couldn't really decide if I should. So I'm open to your opinions
