Thank you kingyr, much appreciated!

Sorry man! forgot to mention - there is a bracket that holds down the card and the screw that holds the bracket, easy enough to figure out the bracket.
and no worries! -
Also I tried to rollback to image in which Fingerprint driver installed and reader works properly. In this case I can see EGIS Fingerprint reader until reboot in Device Manager, but it marked as unplugged. -

Is the colored keyboard from the new NP8153 compatible with NP8651? Considering they they seem to all use same chassis for most P650**......
I kinda thinking I want a new color keyboard instead of the boring white backlit on this NB. No plans yet to upgrade though the new one is really tempting.TomJGX likes this. -

Has anyone had or heard of issues with USB 3 on this notebook? I have mine for 2 years now, but recently i bought an HDD dock station that keeps disconnecting from the notebook whenever i transfer files. I think the issue is with my notebook because i already got this dock swapped and tested (connected to USB 3 port) at the shop.
An option i think i missed was updating my bios (could it actually help anyway?). I got my drivers up to date with Driver Easy. -

I had the same problem with a USB3 external HDD case and turned out to be a bad USB3 cable. I have also seen many other cases with external DVD drives and docks where I solved a problem just by swapping cables. Also worth noting is that most USB3 cables used for high powered applications have 2 USB male connections, one of which is meant to provide extra power from the second USB port. Without it, the HDD starves from power and just reboots messing up the file transfer. As far as I know, no drivers of any sort are needed for USB3 and no issues with it were reported even if using the older BIOS.

BIG PROBLEM. I have the Intel 8260 coming in soon so I decided that since I had windows 8.1 originally and upgraded to windows 10 that I would do I clean install of windows 10. I followed the directions to do a clean install that Windows 10 guided me through. Everything looked like it was going fine but I left my computer and came back an hour later. The screen was stuck with the SAGER symbol. I do not see a loading symbol, rotating circle. There is just the SAGER symbol, I cannot press f2 or f12 or anything. Rebooted many times and tried to press f2 repeatedly. Putting a backup disk that I had from the original Windows 8.1 will not load through usb-cd.
What should my next step be? I bought my computer from Amazon through an XoticPC rep last year in April. Still possible to return for help/fix?Last edited: Aug 29, 2016 -
Have you allready checked the BIOS Boot order as well as bios settings for UEFI and the storage controller mode? Next question, were any other storage devices (other than Win 10 installation media and off course the target drive) connected during your installation?
-
-
Oh, I thought you performed a clean installation and no reset of Windows. Are you able to start from a standalone bootable Win 10 installation media for using automatic repair functions?
-
It's ok. Yes, I've tried to connect a USB DVD drive with a Windows recover disk in it. Will not boot to disk. I try to press F2 upon bootup and cannot get to BIOS to tell it to boot to disk either. I'm going to try to call XoticPC when there office hours open. I've already emailed XoticPC through their marketplace on Amazon b/c that is where I bought my laptop.
-
BTW. Does anybody know if there is an XoticPC rep that frequents these forums?
-
-
if you're not afraid of trying, unplug the 2 hard drives from your laptop, see how it reacts with no disk to start up from. if you still can't reach the bios then, something is wrong. i wouldn't be surprised if secureboot was related.

FYI I want to mention that my Clevo takes over a minute to boot from an external cd drive and the whole time it just shows the boot logo and seems like it's stuck. Also, you should be able to enter BIOS by spamming F2 before the Sager logo appears (if you are on UEFI mode), at least on mine it works that way.
-
What models are you guys having? I am very sure the PG650se and PG650sg does not have UEFI.
-
I have a P650SG. Let me take out the hard drives and see if it boots to BIOS.
brb. -
Ok, Hard drives are out. When I turn on the laptop it says to, "turn on or insert boot drive", something like that. I am going to put the hard drives back in and see what happens now. This is with me spamming F2. No BIOS options available.
-
You may need to send it in if that is the case.
-
Ok, what I did was use another computer to wipe my SSD. Then I installed the SSD back into my laptop and connect a DVD drive with a boot disk. I am now currently installing windows YAY. Thanks for help with the trouble shoot guys.
-
No idea why I could not get to BIOS still though... Oh well.
-
well, if you still can't get into the bios once the windows is installed, you know you're able to boot from an external source, so a bios flash is possible.

Once you get in to windows try booting into the UEFI directly with an advanced restart.

Well I am able to get into BIOS after the new Windows install. I downloaded all drivers, everything was working great but my killer wireless still was stalling and disconnecting. Intel AC 8260 came in and I installed it, thanks for the information on installing from previous members BTW, however... Only bands or whatever that are available are 802.11 a/b/g. That is it... I have downloaded and installed latest intel drivers and windows is updated.
Speeds are slowwww. Killer 1525 speeds at 50 to 60 mb down. Now Intel AC 8260 is at 22 mb down... What am I do wrong, waaah.
Am I supposed to have an updated BIOS to get this wireless card to work? I noticed that the Intel AC 8260 was fatter than the Killer 1525. Filled the whole width of the connection compared to the Killer. -

Maybe there are other factors at play here. If you are using the 2.4GHz band, try changing channel on your router. The 2.4GHz band is way oversaturated so the best you can do to help your card operate is to find the channel with the least amount of external interference. I have used inSSIDer (the free version) before and help a lot in finding the best channel. I have now switched to 5GHz cause the 2.4GHz band just couldn't work for me on my heavily overcrowded neighborhood. As far as BIOS, if the card functions at all, it's probably safe to say that BIOS doesn't need to be updated. Last things to check is that both antennas are connected to the card with the connectors all the way in, that you are using the latest Intel drivers and that VHT Mode is enabled on the adapter Properties page under Advanced tab.
Hope this helps! -
Thanks you. Will try to open up the laptop again and disconnect and reconnect wires next week, will update. -

Try checking the cables yes, they can be fiddly.
-
Hey guys, I have a Sager NP8651. Couple problems I have been running into. My wired Ethernet connection just randomly drops out. I have verified it is not the router / cable. Also, for some reason some updates for windows 10 are not installing properly. Hopefully someone can shed some light on these problems.
Thanks

I'm looking to sell my P651SG (specs in signature). What do you think I can realistically sell it for now that Pascal laptops have arrived? I think the fast 512GB M.2 SSD and 4K display should help resale value somewhat. Just looking for a rough ballpark figure in GDP so I don't list it at a overly hopeful price and get no takers!

So I checked my modem and router. Ended up resetting everything and calling ISP. Now I am getting good speeds, a little less speed than my killer 1525 but it has been very stable when downloading and web browsing at same time. I used to get disconnected when downloading and web browsing at same time so this compromise is more than ok. Thanks for help with troubleshooting everybody. -

First and foremost determine if your "Intel 8260" is genuine because there are a lot of fake one out there. A lot!

For what it's worth, latest Intel drivers caused a LOT of dropouts for me, I couldn't play a single round without getting kicked out for connection timeouts. Went back to the older ones (I think it's 18.40) and everything is back to normal. If you still experience any more issues otherwise not related to your cable connection or the ISP maybe you should give those a try.

For anyone that is interested, the screw size for the CPU (and possibly the GPU) heatsink is M2x3. I recently replaced mine after the old ones were starting to round off the cross on the head. I always had a problem with Clevo screws, maybe my drivers are not the right spec but every one I have tried seems to slip very easily when torqueing down the heatsink.

Anyone here having problems with 15.40.28.4501 Intel HD driver? I just installed it and now not only the Windows is way more laggy, but the Graphics Control Panel won't open, and in Display setting it suddenly detects not one display, but 5 of them, when pressing identify my laptop main display showing 1|2|3|4|5. I did a completely clean install of the driver after uninstalling it from Device Manager so only the Windows Basic Video Adapter remained.

No problems with it here. I did get a freeze on Doom but I don't think it is related to the newest Intel driver. If you are still having issues after a clean install I suggest to also do the same for the Nvidia driver. After all, Optimus is Nvidia's technology so something may be going on with their driver instead.

Here is a somewhat similar post with regards to this particular GPU.

Sometimes it can work, some times you "only" get 120hz. It can vary from panel to panel. The G-sync ones tend to be worse.

Hey,
I want to update my display on the P651SE-A.
My current display is the FHD LG Blabla Backlightbleeding ****
Can I upgrade it to a 3k or 4k display? If yes, which ones? Do you have the Modelnumbers?
and which is the best one? Want to have good colours and no backlight bleeding at all...
Thanks
