What's your exact panel at the moment? Higher resolution displays need different kinds of connectors.

    Hey guys!

I'm helping out a friend who's looking for a nice gaming notebook on a budget. We're looking at a used P650SE with 6700HQ, GTX 970M, 16GB, 512GB SSD and was wondering what should I look out for when I go see the laptop personally with the seller.

What are some known issues these units usually have?

    Thanks!

You could also look at SSD health but it's unlikely to be too bad by now anyway.

I'm satisfied that BF1 is running in Ultra/High Mix with more than 60 fps :)
No need to get upgraded till next year - yippie!

    Love this beast!

Probably a year or so more I'd say... It's already 2 years old now.. @bAsTiii are you getting this on DX11? If it's DX12, it would be impressive..

@TomJGX: Actually I'm playing at DX11 - works better than DX12 with my used NVIDIA Driver => 373.06
    @Trewhela: Sure :)

    Fullscreen
    No VSYNC
    DX11
    Scale: 100%
    UI: 50%
    Graphic Quality: Individuell
    From top to bottom:

    High
    Ultra
    Ultra
    Middle
    Ultra
    Ultra
    Ultra
    Ultra
    FXAA middle
    HBAO

I Must say that i'm caping the FPS to 60 at the moment, works better and smoother nearly without any tearing with the AUO IPS Display.

    In Game via console ^

    Gametime.maxvariablefps XX

XX Stands for the FPS you want to set :)

You have to do this everytime you start BF1 yourself OR you also can make a user.cfg file -
=> Open Notepad, put the Settings in and save the file as "user.cfg"

Move the user.cfg in your BF1 Main Folder - now everytime you power up BF1 the user.cfg will be loaded automatically and the settings you have putted in are already done.

ok all right - can you set these parameters in Origin ? In the "Game Properties" Menu?

    Or only as config file?

I cannot check it for myself because i have not received my Game Code yet.

Will the NP8642 be fully capable of using M.2 PCI Express 3.0 drives?

In particular I want to put a Plextor M8Pe drive in and want to make sure it will be worth it.

just wanted to share my expirience with the P651SG / P650SG (in Germany its a XMG P505 Pro) and 144Hz external Displays. I bought an AOC G2460FQ TN Panel and have connected it with its Displayport to my mini DP on the Laptop and could set 144Hz in the Intel drivers. Just make sure do grab the non Freesync / G-Sync Variant of the display because this is what i can confirm working. You can get an overview of panels not using Free-/G- Sync mechanics here.

Now my question: Is it possible to swap the internal 1080p IPS Display to an IPS or better TN Panel (>= 100Hz). As i read back in this tread there might be eDP (40 pin) or/and LVDS (30pin/40pin) connectors on the mainboard?

I do not care about the bad Color of an TN panel or its viewing angle. Its fine for me for gaming - just wanted to know if this is generally possible - and maybe where i can get the needed panel+cable?

Isn't it strange - it seems the AUO display uses eDP but a 30 Pin cable only.

It depends on your panel and the connectors on the motherboard yes. You can always swap to a panel with the same connector and size (including thickness).

    Hello guys ^^
I own this notebook since a couple of week, in particular a Clevo P670 with the GTX 1060 manufactured by XMG (XMG P707).
Tonight I've started playing seriously for the first time, in particular Dirt 3 regularly downloaded from Steam.
    After a couple of minutes playing, I've had a BSOD... VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (nvlddmkm.sys).
I thought it was only an isolated problem..
I tried again, same BSOD, same error after a couple of minutes..
So, reading that it could be a driver problem, I've unistalled the "standard" nVidia drivers (the one you can find on the nvidia website) and installed the drivers provided by my OEM (XMG).
This way i've been able to play for about 1 hour without problems, but right now, again BSOD :(
Here the info provided by the minidump:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/d5nybd1n0rybr3a/Screenshot 2016-11-12 03.12.16.png?dl=0

Does someone have any advice to solve the problem? :/
    The direct X are installed..
No driver or bios updates available..
I am terrified of being constrained to send it back because of an hardware problem.. :(

Try another game and also try using msi afterburner to monitor your temperatures.

I was already monitoring the temperatures with Real Temp..
I was at about 60°C, so not too high...
Could it be a problem of the game? o_O
I'll try Dying Light today.. ^^

EDIT: the PC has completely freezed as soon as it has completed to install MSI Afterburn, because I've allowed to the installer to start the software, I suppose.. :/
Absolutely no feedback from the PC.. so I have had to force the shutdown with the power button...
How much normal is this? :/
I've had similar problems a week ago, trying to install CoreTemp...
Then i've renounced thinking it was a software's problem........ :(
Now MSI afterburn has a total white icon...

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/95gmxu6qqws2965/Screenshot 2016-11-12 13.36.21.png?dl=0

    What should I do? :/

Guys I have a problem with my laptop. Suddenly, when I play any graphic intensive game (like Dark Souls 3 or Battlefield 4), the PC just shuts down after some time. No warning, no BSOD, no crash log, no nothing. The shut down message appears, it turns off, and that's all. Now I checked if the PC is overheating in real time, the answer is no. My CPU goes to max 70 C, and the GPU 80 C (and only after some time of playing). The crashes happen usually after like 10 minutes of playing. I don't have any undervolt, just the Turbo Mode of my CPU turned off. I cleaned my PC like three months ago, and it was very clean, no dust at all in it. Haven't changed the thermal paste in one year though. Also my drivers are updated fully, I'm not running any background service like an AV (except the Windows one), and the BIOS is the latest Prema one with the default settingS. Memtest doesn't show any error regarding the RAM.

The laptop is one year old and it's a Clevo P650SE, with i7 4720HQ and GTX970M. Running Windows 10 Enterprise 64 bit. The problem started like 2 months ago when I started playing Bf4. Since then I made already a completely clean installation of the OS.

i had used the auto Fan profile and i have similar temps like you with my P651SG - and had the same shutdowns. When i started to use FN+1 (fans at full speed) it never happens again.

You could take at look at your Windows Event Logs to see if anything is reported there that could give you a clue as to the cause. A quick way of getting to see part of the Event Log is to type "perfmon /rel" (without the quotes) into the search bar (located on Taskbar) of Windows 10 (or even on Windows 7). Then click on the day you had your problem & it should say if anything weird happened.

Just checked it, nothing out of common in those days. Everything is alright.
Also I did a 10 minute benchmark with the Heaven 4, Ultra settings, 4x AA, Tesselation Maximum, so I could push my GPU (it hit only 44 fps). Checked the temperature in both Fan Auto Mod, where the temp stopped rising at 82 C, averaging 80 C, and on the Fan Maximum Mod the temperature averaging at 77 C. CPU was 60 degrees only, fan sounded like it worked. I've done this to completely rule out overheating (and I hope I did).PC didn't shutdown. I also ran Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool, everything passed with success. I observed the laptop doesn't shutdown in War Thunder (with everything at max), no matter how long I play.

If you mean the power brick one no. I just checked both ends, and the power brick itself. They are warm, but not as hot as to not be able to touch them. Just warm.

Ok, so no issue with power delivery.

I would next go to the heatsinks, repaste them and more importantly check the pads are placed correctly, if you are not sure then take pics and let us have a look.

I would check the power settings in Windows and the Clevo Center..
Had the same issue in the past with my p170HM - after i did the power settings to max and not balanced and used the clevo center also in performance mode, it never happens again.

Is there anything that can be done to lower the temperatures and fan speed on the P651SE? Even on idle the CPU temps sit around 50-60C, and for no reason the CPU fan just starts spinning like crazy. ALL ON IDLE.

    1. Repaste your CPU + GPU... Use good thermal paste like IC Diamond.

    2. Get some good thermal pads for the GPU...

Temps will go down etc and your fans should be better too... You can also set a custom fan profile in Clevo control centre so set the fans to turn on at higher temps..

I've already re-pasted with IC Diamond. GPU is fine, but it's the CPU that's annoying. I'll grab some thermal pads and download the control centre. Thanks for the help.

Do another repaste.. Use the Cross method on the CPU and GPU... Don't have to do it now but when you put new pads, you should do so..

Pads wise, look out for Phobya XT pads.. Cheap and good!

    Hey all,

Newbie here. I've just purchased a P651 (all hail Clevo!), but I've run into a huge problem. Does anyone have any issues with the trackpad? The sensitivity get ridiculously high when I drag objects (i.e files, sliders, etc) or highlight text. The cursor stops responding too if I move my finger too slowly (with left-click being held).

Everything works fine when I'm not holding down the left-click button, the cursor/trackpad is perfectly accurate. I've tried to reinstall the Clevo drivers for the trackpad, but no luck!

Is there anyway to get the touchpad to disable itself automatically when closing the lid? Currently it stays enabled and my mouse pointer keeps moving slighly on a continuous basis, very annoying :)

Never mind, sorted out. The latest Clevo touchpad drivers are a mess. Uninstalled, and reinstalled an older version from the Synaptics website, as well as from the Device Manager. Works like a charm now.

Hello everyone, I need some help with my xmg p705.
Previous situation was 1 ssd in m. 2 slot where windows is installed and 2 drives in the sata bay(1 hdd, 1ssd).
Now I switched the two in the bay with two crucial mx 300 ssds.
I went into the bios and set up the raid0. It was created. After that it was not able to boot (select proper boot device and so on). The strange thing is, I cannot get it to work. I tinkered around with uefi, ahci and raid mode.
It just started when I set it back to uefi and ahci mode.
Can't I just take the two sata slots to raid and normally boot from my m. 2 ssd?
    Any tips here?
Or is it not worth the hassle and just get a software raid with Windows tools?

Windows needs to be re-installed or at least migrated when moving o raid mode due to the different driver set used.

You can pre install the raid driver before changing to Raid Mode.
    It should Start then.

Okey, so I just install the raid drivers, which are in this case the Intel rapid storage driver.
But I have difficulty installing the driver. It says it cannot be installed onto that operating system. And it's true. On the Intel homepage there is no Windows 10 listed anymore.
    Am. I overlooking something here?

You are not in raid mode so it won't install them normally. You would need to manually place the drivers IIRC. If you Google AHCI to raid mode guides they should take you through it.

did anyone try to put in a 3x3 wifi card for example Dell DW1830? I have found these on ebay and they are very cheap in Germany and i could not find any other 3x3 M.2 A/E Key card.

But will it fit? It might not because it looks bigger :-(

as i found here the card is a "non Standard" M.2 Form Factor 26mm x 30mm (Standard would be 22mm or 30mm width). Anyway - i have already ordered one and will check it out. I hope to get 3x3 Link with 1300Mbps and higher transfer speed (100MB/s+)

I've been trying to get a 4k res @60Hz on my new Hisense UHDTV. For Hisense TV, there are 2 HDMI 2.0 ports in the back of the TV to plug up devices for 4k @60Hz. I have got an mini DisplayPort 1.2 to HDTV cable from Monoprice. Customer support claimed that the cable for the HDMI is 2.0 and will support 4k @60Hz. When I got the cable I'm only getting 3840x2160 @30Hz. I was already getting that with my HDMI which I think is HDMI 1.4 cable. So I'm returning the cable and now I'm thinking if it's the cable or the laptop?

When I search my model laptop (P650SE) I find a review by Notebookreview on the Eurocom M5 Pro (P650SE) that the mini DisplayPort ports are DisplayPort 1.2 and support 4k @60Hz. I tried being cheap to find the lowest cost for a cable, but I'm thinking of getting the Club3D CAC-1170 mini DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 Adapter, then a Amazon basic HDMI 2.0 cable... more money but I want to be sure it works.

I'm wondering do my Sager/Clevo P650SE support 4k @60Hz? Sager tech don't have this model anymore in their HQ, so they couldn't test it for me.

Your P650SE should Support 4K 60Hz on the Mini Displayport ports. A friend of mine has one (P505 Pro from MYSN) and it works fine:

Thank you, must have been the cable. I ordered the Club3D adapter and HDMI 2.0 cable.

I accidentally dropped my P650SE last night and it cracked the display panel. It was a LP156WF4-SLB5 (1080p WLED IPS matte LDVS). I can't find an exact replacement for it, as they stopped making the panel, and most of the "compatible" replacement panels are TN, which is not acceptable. I found this, it's not exactly the same but I think it will work: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-SVS1511...&sr=8-1&keywords=laptop+panel+15.6+ips+40+pin

I know that this laptop can use eDP panels, but I require a different cable. In case what I ordered doesn't work, I'd like to get an eDP panel, as they're still in production. I know there was a discussion earlier about buying the proper cable to upgrade the display, but I can't find it. In particular, a cable that would support the LP156UD1 or similar. Has anybody found the cable I need, or does Sager or any of the resellers know where I can buy one? Thanks.

    Edit: Would this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-for-Cle...293888?hash=item43f997f380:g:R2gAAOSw44BYM98F

That same shop has 6-43-P6501-052-1C which looks closer to what you need.
