That says, in clear terms, that Obsidian PC is legally unable to be a Prema Partner due to a previous deal that was struck, that has yet to be broken.
However, understanding the good work Prema does, he still, as a company, supports Prema, and buying from him is directly supporting Prema as well. This is also in order to push Prema to possibly releasing a public BIOS mod one day.
It also states that in the case of a public mod release, or if you manage to get a mod from Prema himself, you can flash it and your warranty will be intact.
It's possible that Prema may work something out with buyers of Obsidian PC notebooks because of their choice of vendor, but that would be something else entirely, and Obsidian PC still cannot distribute notebooks with Prema mods.
Sadly, they're one of the few vendors that seem to go above and beyond and provide the quality we need OEMs to provide, and it pains me to know they cannot be a Prema partner shop, especially being in Europe and shipping to Europe, where Prema partners are extremely rare (only Dream Machines in Poland, I believe). If all Clevos came with the quality that Obsidian is trying to provide, there would literally be no reason to buy almost any other notebook, excepting *EXTREMELY* rare cases.

Well that still leave some hope though . any way happy with my p670rs-g powerful and quite portable with descent battery life up to 4h if optimized well. undervolting now gives me max temps at high 70's and usual low 70 under load. updated bios with latest obsidian at the moment and no touch pad issues until now. dont like how screen resolution resizes when changing from hybrid to discrete graphics as then my desktop icons rearrange.
was quite surprised that tomb raider is still hitting hard on fps. with all maxed out dx 11 vxao ssa x4 full hd . average gets only 40-45 and it even gets minimum drop to 12fps in benchmark, is that normal ?
looking forward to have prema bios one day -
You do realize you're running the game at 4K....
-
well dont have this knowledge so this ssaa x4 means 4k than . still if i put it fxaa game and other settings maxed game average is around 55fps-60fps and drops are to minimum around 29-33fps on benchmark
EDIT: Sorry average is 68-72 but minimum drop are at 27-30fps -
SSAA is super sampling anti aliasing. The number is the multiplier on the internal render resolution of the game, essentially. 4x would be 1920 (x2) * 1080 (x2),which is 4K (4x the resolution) downsampled to 1080p.
SSAA usually comes in 2.4x and 4x multipliers. Often, you'll get a percentage slider as well, like in Battlefield 4/Hardline/1. The % is the multiplier on the game's chosen resolution, so 1920 x 1080 at 200% is 200% of 1920 x 200% of 1080. -
understood
understood thank you for clarification but what about this frame drop ? is this normal ? tried to seach on web but still could get exact picture of what is normal fps for this game with max settings except ssaa x4 or withLast edited: Jan 17, 2017 -

Wow thanks for making everything so clear!
I´m sure sooner or later we will be able to provide Prema BIOS, for now what we tell our clients is to talk directly with @Prema, be nice, make a donation, and maybe he will let you in!
We are all about enthusiasts, just now we wrote a month of investigation in our blog, i still did not have time to write a English version, but if you know Portuguese here you go: https://www.obsidian-pc.com/pt/blog/arrefecer-desktopcpu.html
Basically i´m finally able to offer our clients a throttle free unit without undervolt, with Overclock fan profile you don´t even need Undervolt, and we are doing this aiming for the most Extreme Scenario, full 100% usage from both CPU and GPU like the GTX 1080, this is huge for us!
It took us a lot of time to get the gapping fixed, we had to throw stuff like Grizzly Liquid Metal on a delided CPU, reseal it with high temperature silicon to avoid leaks, well it´s the full deal. And it´s all free with any K CPU. And there´s no way we go wrong with any order, we attach benchmarks and temperature measures to all orders so clients can check.
Even if most of our clients don´t care about this i´m proud:
No UNDERVOLT! How much can you milk from this baby?
I´m now at 4.7Ghz and looking good!
And this is for the P7 cooling system, imagine the steam chamber P8 ones

Interesting. I was about to buy the comp but now I'm torn after finding out the acer predator 17 is 1500! at micro center: http://www.microcenter.com/product/470138/Predator_17_G9-793-78CM_173_Gaming_Laptop_Computer_-_Black
I'm not one for the look of gaming laptops - its the reason I like clevos - but I do like good sound and software. Do you guys know anything bad bout the acer I should know (heat)? There are only a few people posting in the acer owners forum... -

Hi, over at XMG:
https://www.mysn.de/driver/XMG/XMG_P507_P707/BIOS/
They've posted an updated EC today, 1.05.05TR. I've flashed it on my P670RS-G with no adverse effects. Changelog reads FlexiCharge fix.
Also, the 1.05.07a BIOS there seems to work well too.
(Specifically, the below two files)
12.01.2017 11769023 XMG_P507_1070_P707_1060_1070_BIOS_1.05.07a.zip

I regularly connect a Bluetooth Keyboard, Mouse, and Headphones, with no side effects related to sound.. although, I don't have a WiFi card that came w/the computer, I'm using an Intel 7260 I purchased, may be related. The Bluetooth/WiFi bits are part of the same card. What WiFi card are you using?

Watch the whole thing, see what I mean about RAM. Even though they didn't give timings in this video. If you simply wish to skip to the RAM portion, it starts around 4:42 or so.Hanamichi23, Papusan and spec0s like this. -

So is flexicharge working for you with this update? It was only working before when adjusting the setting in BIOS and not shutting down the notebook. -
It works now as it should, but after EC, not BIOS update.

Hello can any one help me with lag spikes in game ? P670RS-G drivers up to date.
Before i told about low fps on tomb raider, but its a demanding game so maybe its ok though still weird . but now i get lag spikes on sims 4 . and fps drops as low as 10fps on lag spike, when moving map scrolling. usual while playing 40-50 of-course settings are maxed . -
Is 120hz panels available for P670xx at US resellers ??

Last annoying post before I buy this thing. If I get this comp from eluktronics: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS7NTNZ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=APTJB2SEQO65W
Will I have to update bios or do any other tinkering for the comp to be running optimally?
Saturnotaku says he had to update the bios to fix the cpu from overheating while plugged into an external monitor as well as reformat and remove cmos battery (I don't even know what that is) to fix the fans due to some interfering software. Did ya'll have to do this? Does bios updating void your warranty? -

Do these updates fix the problem of the fan tables getting messed up when running the XTU components of the Clevo Control Center? Although I don't need to do it as my system runs quite cool, I liked being able to use a small undervolt to bring temperatures down even further. CCC was the easiest way to do so but would cause the system fans to behave erratically, necessitating a NVRAM reset and reinstallation of Windows.
I stand corrected. It also looks like the price of the faster RAM has come down to be closer to the performance margin of its slower counterparts. If you're looking at maxing out the system with 64 GB, the price is greater, but for 16-32 GB, it's not that bad.
I would contact the reseller directly and ask if they can flash the system with the latest BIOS and EC before they ship it to you. Initial reports about Eluktronics seem to indicate that they have pretty good customer service, so they should be able to do this.D2 Ultima likes this. -
Prema Mod from what I know (at least on the P870DMx) has an option to break XTU from the fan tables, so you can use CCC in peace (I still suggest the keyboard mod).
Yeah, it was much more expensive when DDR4 just came out, but now it's maybe $30-$50 more on top of $100-$200 on average for 16GB/32GB. The minimum RAM I recommend is 2400MHz CL14 from Kingston as that's a straight benefit over the 2133MHz CL15 default RAM, but I want to see higher speed, more stable, lower timing RAM come out on notebooks. And I think G.Skill and Corsair are just being slow. 3200MHz quad channel 14-14-14-34 exists on desktops, but laptops are stuck to 3200MHz 16-18-18-43 at best, and even then it seems to require Kaby Lake CPUs to work (which means for all mobile CPU laptops, you *NEED* windows 10). -
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
I actually did install CCC without XTU using the oem.ini edit trick, so I have control over the keyboard and was able to simply turn off the backlighting. Again, XTU isn't really necessary for my usage, but slightly cooler temperatures are never a bad thing. I realize Throttlestop can do the same thing, but it intimidates me, and I don't want to install yet another application for that purpose.
The 2400 MHz CL14 HyperX is what I'm rolling right now. I may actually pick up a 3000 MHz set, but I'd probably have to put the Kingston kits on fleBay since I had no takers either on here or reddit a couple weeks ago when I tried to sell them. I'm loathe to do that because I'd be spending at least $30 on listing and PayPal fees. -
Mmm I understand what you mean. It bugged me that I needed HWiNFO64, MSI AB and RTSS all running to properly display everything via the overlay that I wanted, and it's still in a rather slipshod manner compared to my Playclaw overlay, but Playclaw just stopped functioning sufficiently so I had to pick another program. But TS8 is pretty lightweight and easy to use, if you need help with it feel free to ask.
Well you could overclock them when the Prema mod comes out for your P670RS, if the IMC can handle it. @Mr. Fox has his Kingstons at 3000MHz, though it's 18-18-18. But the net gain may still be apparent. I know some programs prefer speed over the speed/timings combo, though I still look for timings as a general rule for consistent benefit.Mr. Fox likes this. -
The benchmark results for the Kingston are almost the same as my G.SKILL with 15-17-17-39 timings, and there is no perceivable difference without a number to look at. The real benefit will be having the 3000MHz speed as long as the latency is good, and both are essentially identical there as well. I have Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4-2400 modules. If anyone wants a dump of the SPD/XMP profiles let me know. I exported and imported the XMP profile from 16GB Corsair 3000 sticks and tweaked the values with Thaiphoon Burner until they worked stable.
Be advised you have to buy the "Professional" version to work with XMP. The inexpensive "Blaster" version won't allow you to do the XMP editing/flashing.Last edited: Jan 19, 2017D2 Ultima likes this. -
hey, im using Intel 8260. tried a few Drivers and Settings nothing helped. my guess was that the bandwith just isnt good enough to pair multiple deviced + Streaming. but if it work for you ... hmmm?! strange.
btw does the new xmg ec break the fan tables like the Version before did? noisy fans, ramping up every Minute in custom fan mode. -
If you're checking AIDA64 or heavily GPU/CPU-focused benches like Firestrike, it won't show the differences in timings. AIDA64 checks bandwidth for the most part, where timings are more "latency". Maybe things like PCMark might show more of a difference, I guess.Mr. Fox likes this.

OK, so how the heck do you flash the EC and BIOS using the XMG files posted above? I tried to create a bootable USB drive with Rufus, but when I try to boot from it, it doesn't do anything. Can someone post a step-by-step guide?
-
Can't be sure, but did you try booting from the USB drive with UEFI off? I'm almost certain DOS boot drives need no UEFIsaturnotaku likes this.
-

That did it. BIOS and EC are now up to date. Gotta say I'm not a fan of that XMG logo, but whatever. I'd like to try CCC with XTU again, but I'm kind of afraid to. How do you undervolt using Throttlestop? I just want to set it at -100mV. -
It's really simple. Just use the "FIVR" button and tick "unlock adjustable CPU voltage" and set the offset slider to -100. It'll probably be something like -99.98 or something though.saturnotaku likes this.
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yeah, I just figured it out. Much simpler than I was expecting. It took a lot longer to create a task to get the program to run at startup LOL. I had uninstalled CCC all together, and after rebooting it kept the keyboard backlight off, so now I have no reason to put it back in any form.
One thing I did notice is that the BIOS has an option to set CPU voltage offset, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to report a negative number. Its default is zero (obviously), but it can only be adjusted upward. -
I would recommend not relying on that task, and instead simply pinning it to your taskbar or start menu and clicking on it on reboot. It'll not only launch faster, but it'll not screw up at all.
Rebooting will keep the last EC set for the backlight, but a cold boot likely will turn it on.
Apparently you need the Prema mod to undervolt. -
Please let us know if you notice any difference in fan behavior with latest BIOS/EC. Also thanks for your youtube videos
-
I have had no issues relying on that task to launch TS on startup. I only use it to undervolt tho, maybe more complex stuff could get screwed up.
-
You may not, but many people have encountered some. Also, it boots faster if you just click on it. So I just recommend it this way by default.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

That's a bug in the stock BIOS they missed the +/- signs so you can't really do a negative offset theresaturnotaku likes this. -
Is there any way to have the Killer Suite installed without it being horrendously bugged? I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, and with certainty, any time it's under high load (say, 3-4MB/s download) it first says there's no internet from the AP, then WiFi is off, then no adapter installed, only fixed with reboot. I'm just using stock Windows drivers for now.
-
No.
I didn't even read the rest of your post, I just know the answer is no. They've been making garbage software since... at least 2011 when I started doing research about them. -

Anyone knows why Eurocom isn't selling P670HS yet? And when will they start selling?
-
Not certain, but why do you want the P670HS specifically? It limits you to W10 due to lack of chipset drivers for previous OSes.
-
Yeah, the card still disables under heavy load. The only thing I really want from Killer Suite is ASD, ironically.
-
I heard about this issue from another user, and no matter what I was able to do, I couldn't get the card to stop crashing. He bought an intel, and I'm getting an 8265ac instead of my originally-planned killer for my upcoming machine.
For you though this is warranty-replace-able. -

Yeah I did point that out, I think I might push a bit harder on that.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I don't want HS specifically, I just want a P670 with GTX 1070. But they are only selling it with GTX 980 yet.

Ah you're right. They only have the P670RG. Here's a good Prema Partner to get the P670HS from then:
