It needs to be a clevo card but a 970m would slot in just fine.

Since yours is a DM-G, you'll need a g-sync card.stratti likes this. -
Thank you so much for your replies!
(( I had a new idea: since I've been using my Clevo only stationary for a while now, would there be any possibility to use a different card (one which would be easier to get) that might not fit in the case? Which would not matter since I dont have to close the case and carry it around... ))
Maybe ignore that. Would this one work?

You should be also fine with Quadro M series
-
If your card does not have Gsync you simply will not have access to gsync option. Thats all. -
So I put in the GTX 965m and it pretends to be booting, but only black screen and num lock does not toggle the respective light.
Any ideas? -
One more thing: the 980m seems to be thicker than the 965m, so the heatsink sits slightly above and not right on the card. Is there something I can easily do to change that/can it also be a reason for not booting? Would think it would only get to hot fast but should not impair booting...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Unless undue pressure is on the core it should not impact booting.
-
I give up.
If anyone is interested in a 4 year old, well kept P751DM-G with broken GTX 980m, possibly damaged Motherboard, working delidded i5-6600k + 16GB RAM + Charger (230W) + battery, send me a PM. Display has no dead Pixels, only slight backlight bleed.
Not looking to make a profit, just would feel bad to throw it out. Maybe someone needs spare parts. Location: Germany -
Anyone have a successful experience with update P770DM-g - to 2k -4k screen? Is it need to Dremel screen frame?

Hello @IllusiveMan, i have zotac gtx1070 and i want install it into my clevo. Can you share me value of missing SMD. Thanks so much.
Sorry for my bad english.
-
My multimeter does not measure those quite well, I think it's 0 ohm resistors.
-
But i have one more question, After add missing SMD and install to clevo, fan control can auto. Because in install this 1070 to alienware, it work but fan control not auto, only control via hwinfo.
Best regards for you. -
Fan control worked fine for me.
-
-
Here my vga after add missing smd. Can you check for me
-
@IllusiveMan
I don't add smd to this here. Need to add 2 smd to here?
-
Yes.
-
Add more 2 SMD 0ohm to backside of PCB? Total 5 SMD added? 3 of front side and 2 backside?Last edited: Oct 16, 2020 -
@IllusiveMan, last question. Now i add stick 1,2,3,4,5 with 0ohm smd or 1,3,4,5?
Your image is 1,3,4,5 but it's low quality
Thanks your help again.
-
It is 2,3,4,5 only, 1 was already in place.

Thanks so much. -

I was hoping I could get some help with my P750DM.
So my Original screen stopped working which is the Chimei N156HGE-LA1, which has LVDS interface. Looking at the eurocom screen upgrade page located here
https://eurocom.com/ec/lcd()upgrade
I was under the impression that I could upgrade to the Sharp LQ156D1JW04 4k screen, so I purchased one with correct wire needed to upgrade as well. Now I knew this was an eDP interface but I thought that my board had both LVDS and eDP. Upon opening the computer and inspecting the board it does look like it has both but the connector for the eDP interface is not soldered to the board. I have a picture if that would help just let me know.
My question is what are my options from here? Can I solder a connector to the eDP part of the motherboard? Move the connector from LVDS to eDP? Is there any other way to get an eDP screen working with the LVDS version of the P750DM? I'd really like to find a way to use the Sharp screen if possible.
If I purchased a new board with the connector soldered properly could I swap over all parts? Should I just get a new LVDS screen? If so are there any better options than the Chimei?
I'd appreciate any help you'd have to offer. Thanks in advance. -
Hello.
I have a P751DM-G with a NVIDIA GTX 970m, however the driver I have installed has been released in 2015 and I can't update it.
Whether I download new drivers from NVIDIA website, from Windows Update or even from the PC manifacturer website the video card disconnects and it gives me the following error:
Code 43 (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems)
To reconnect the video card I have to reinstall the old drivers 10.18.13.5900.
Anyone knows what can I do?
Thank you in advance. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you tried a fresh install of Windows?
-
Do you think it’s impossible to update the driver without losing my files? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Take an image backup and see if it helps. You should also backup your files.

Does anyone know how Flexikey software finds out the board model or how it decides about the missing/present lightbar?
I tried to flash main and second ECs from DOS with original ones from clevo, but no changes at all, same missing lightbar option. -
Does anyone have a teardown video or manual all the way to the motherboard for a P770DM-G? I have to replace the DC power jack and hate going in blind.
-
Now I have to reinstall Windows and then restore from the backup, right? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Re install windows and test first. You can always go back and get your files if need be.

Hello wonderful people of this forum!
I am a new member, a lurker since 2013.
I made this account to address an issue in my P770DM-G Laptop that is "almost" driving me crazy...
at the 5th of November in 2020, I started Having this weird issue of my laptop suddenly Shutting down in the middle of anything am doing be it ( Gaming - watching a movie - attending a lecture - Microsoft office work - even at IDLE...etc) basically any anytime it could occur.
Its worth noting that my Laptop was stable for more than 2 years, no Hardware added no overclocking...nothing.
What I did in hope of solving this issue: (but it still persists)
1- System restore to a stable point.
2-Un-did my Undervolt which was stable for more than 2 years.
3-Updated windows 10 to the latest version.
4-Updated all my outdated drivers.
5-Cleaned my already clean Fans and checked for overheating issues which doesn't exist because temps are at mid 70s for CPU and GPU under the heaviest load (stress testing - benchmarking - heavy tasks).
6-Disabled intel's (Speed step) technology that is responsible for turbo boost, after noticing Huge fluctuations in CPU core Frequency when the laptop switches the power source to battery (from 3.7 GHZ to 1.97 GHZ).
7-Removed all Viruses and malwares by using Bitdefender and Malwarebytes.
8-Removed the latest programs and games installed before the issue started.
9-Went to a local technician and tested my power brick and it is supplying steady voltage (19.55v), I am still a little bit skeptical because he tested it for 4~7 seconds only.
10-Tried operating the laptop on (Battery alone - AC adapter alone - both together) after disconnecting all the power sources and holding the power bottun for a minute to discharge (every time between iterations).
11-Disabled all the services when booting into windows.
12-Completely removed Nvidia Graphics driver using (DDU) and performed a clean installation of an old stable driver.
13-Completely unplugged all the USB peripherals.
14-Uninstalled all the USB drivers to check if its a problem of drawing more power into (headphones-mouse-keyboard).
15-Ran Intel's CPU diagnostic tool and it passed.
16-Tried to do normal operations (Idle- play a game - watch a movie - run benchmark) with these 3 settings (GPU on normal clocks - GPU underclocked - GPU overclocked) No differences at all between the 3 conditions.
17-Changed the (Travel adapter) that converts my power cord from UK plug to a European one.
18-Ran RAM diagnostic tests and passed them.
19-Ran ("Error Checking" and "Optimization") on my HDD and SSD, and all is fine.
20-Tried normal operations under ("Optimal power" and "Prefer maximum performance") in Nvidia 3d settings.
21-Tried turning Off G-Sync
22-Tried normal operations in Safe mode
23-Reseated the CMOS Battery.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Few things I Noticed:
1-The issue started in November but recently (1 week ago) When I restart (not shutdown) my laptop, the screen stays black for 30+ seconds before actually restarting.
2-There are 3 patterns to this issue:
1-Instant Shut down, no matter what I am doing on the PC sometimes even when I leave it completely Idle.
2-Sudden AC adapter turn off despite what I am doing on the PC, then the laptop switches to battery after 5~7 seconds the System shuts down.
3-Sudden AC adapter turn off despite what I am doing on the PC, then the laptop switches to battery and it stays like that, then I go to the wall socket and re-plug the cord to "restart" the AC adapter then after few minutes maybe seconds it happens again and I do the same thing again, I repeat the action of re-plugging it into the wall multiple times until it gives up and shuts down eventually.
3-The more Graphic hungry action done using the Laptop, the more likely a shutdown will occur ( Benchmarking - Launching a Graphic intensive game..etc) anything that draws more power I guess, but its still happens on being Idle but less frequently.
4- When the laptop switches the power source to battery the CPU core frequency drops to (0.78 Ghz) and it stays there until I re-plug the AC adapter to go back to (3.7 Ghz), Hence action number (6) in the list above.
5- The only thing I didn't try is to format the machine and clean install windows again which is the last resort for me due to having many programs and files on my machine which I need many of them at the moment.
6- The issue occurs 100% randomly no matter how much I try to re-do certain things to cause same results, tinkering with all the variables that I can possibly think of provide 0 results as why such an issue started.
7- The issue started when I traveled from one country to another, thats the absolutely only change that I did for the past 2 years of stable operation (no devices added- no storage added- no overclocks...etc). heck, even my brothers and friends started joking about my laptop Catching Covid haha.
I would absolutely appreciate any kind of help, because this makes my laptop almost unusable.
I am sorry If this is not the right place to post this, Kindly redirect me to the right thread.
cheers !Dr. AMK likes this. -

If the AC adaptor cuts out at any point that's suspect number one. Second are VRMs (the power circuitry inside the machine. I'd check all the thermal pads are making contact then and give everything a clean out/repaste.
Does it do it just on battery?Dr. AMK likes this. -

VRM is the next thing to examine then, are all the pads intact and correctly positioned?

Ho guys. Have a question here - does anyone upgrade his p770dm-g with 2k or 4k screens? Which models ?
-
Hitto,
Make sure your battery is in good health. A bad battery can show a full charge when in fact it is not at a full charge. Also, as these machines get older the plugs connection for the power can get a little lose. The combination of those two things can cause this problem. Aside from that, download HWinfo and run it to see if one of the components is getting too hot. It’s a good idea to clean out the fans from time to time to let the hot air pass through freely. -

Hello there lovely people!
So I have this 4 years old P770DM-G laptop, and I have it configured with the 980M. But I suspect it is the cause of my sudden shutdown problem after 5 months of trial and error.
I have been reading for few days now about MXM 3.0b and looking for Pascal GPUs that fit the description, I found some 1060s and 1070s with an MXM 3.0b socket ( not the MXM 3.1) with power draw of 100W and 115W respectively.
So would these work in my laptop ? and if not for the love of God explain why, as I really get frustrated with the "no you cant upgrade further." kind of replies.
Here is the link to the GPU that I would like to upgrade for from Aliexpress ( The best trusted seller I could find there, but thats not the point here)
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/400...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
As you can see on the Aliexpress product page in the description section my device is written as one of the "supported" devices but its not an easy matter to pay that much just to return it if it doesn't work.
the physical aspects match perfectly and my screen connection is (eDP) if anyone is wondering, I grasped 99% of the Nvidia INF driver mod method, the only thing am confused with is : what is the vBIOS and do I have to tinker with that as well ? why many Clevo laptops support the 10 series from Nvidia but few of them don't ? when they all have the same MXM socket.
Also does the PCB color of the GPU indicate something ? I can find the same GPU with Green, Blue and black PCB colors. also does the Vendor of the GPU matter ? like only dell GPUs work on dell laptop and only MSI GPUs work on MSI laptops...etc
please, be patient with me, I would really appreciate it if someone lays the steps in a detailed manner regarding upgrading the GPU for this machine and what COULD go wrong to prevent me from doing so. -

Hopefully someone will stumble upon this and provide valuable informationLast edited: Mar 27, 2021 -
I have Dsanke modified bios installed. -
so this modified BIOS where to get it and how to use it, also do you mean like the Main BIOS or vBIOS ?
finally someone with the same laptop and with an upgraded GPU =) -
Main Bios
Could be find in the first post of this thread

The thing is that before my laptop started shutting down and rapidly failing on me, I managed to update my bios from official laptop company, I will include picture of the new bios version.
So do you think my current bios could do the job? -
Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this question, and my apologies in advance if it is not. I'm in need of a bottom and (more importantly) top case (palmrest and touchpad) for NP9778-G / Clevo P770DM-G. I'm happy to buy an incomplete system for parts if it is cheap enough. Let me know if anyone has something spare like that they'd be willing to sell!
If it has the display with it that's fine too, I'll buy it as well.
Thanks,
MattLast edited: Apr 17, 2021 -

Hi all, it's been probably 4+ years since I have been in here and I can't for the life of me find the optimized BIOS settings for my 770DM-G with premamod bios. I remember seeing screenshots long ago but I can't find them. I also reached out to prema to see if he has a more updated BIOS version. I am currently on 1.05.09 MYT v1.1 with Firmware revision 1.05.03. On a side note, this laptop has been amazing and I have had zero issues since I got it when it first launched. I bought from Mythlogic which is a company that is no longer in business so that bums me out, but I suppose I'm way out of any warranty period that could have existed anyhow. The reason I'm looking for BIOS settings is because I just reinstalled WIndows 10 fresh (not from local files) and for some reason I couldn't get it to work without resetting my BIOS to defaults and like an idiot I didn't take pictures of the settings before doing so. Thanks!
