Nuh unh, Only apology that will work is a PM explaining the future of the P870DM-G and its successor.Last edited: Jul 28, 2016Papusan likes this.

@bloodhawk well then the price of your pm would be my wages for the next 30 years including inflation, as I would be ostracised from the industry like a naughty conjurer who broke the magic circle....I'll take a cheque but at the moment would prefer payment in Euros rather than GBP. Chips, chocolate coins, monopoly money, anything but GBP!

I've got a surprise coming for fellow P750ZM owners in a day or two. Decided I couldn't handle the boredom of the completely blasé Mac-like OriginPC white lid any more. When the paint is completely dry and I have it back together again I will post a couple of pics.

Doing some customization is always a fun, and just feels good when it gets done. Can't wait to see what you've cooked up.

Pretty simple, but I think it looks awesome. I'm going to have to buy another front bezel. The cheap tabs on the back side of it won't securely latch into the lid now. Will post pics as soon as it is ready.

I'm tempted to perhaps get something etched onto my lid.

Has anyone attempted GPU passthrough on this machine with any success?
Currently I'm running mine in a dual boot setup, but want to switch to a pure Linux dev box, and stick Windows 10 in a VM (preferably before the upcoming anniversary update).
It may be an issue with this machine, because I understand the iGPU isn't accessible in these models? Something about the video buffer not existing or something? Anyway. Any Linux users here with Windows VMs that have successfully set up VGA passthrough? -

Looks pretty good. I like the choice and color, and nice work on the paint job itself, no streaks or imperfections it looks like.

It will have to dry a few days longer then I can wet sand and polish it since it is non-catalyzed paint. The orange peel is because the temps are too hot here in Phoenix. It was 109°F and I did the painting in my garage. It's not as bad as it looks in the photos, but still more than I would like. (Photos always magnify defects.) It looks much better than it seems to look in the photos, and the red is a much brighter color than what I could capture with my cheap phone camera.

I still think it looks pretty good. And if you aren't happy with the final product, you could always buy a new panel to replace it as well.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Thanks. I am extremely happy with it. It looks great (much better than in photos). For a $3.99 Wal-Mart rattle can job it's amazing, LOL. I am going to do a cut and buff job on it to knock off the orange peel, but it's hard to even see that except in sunlight, but it will need to dry about a week since it is not catalyzed paint.

I think it could use a design of some sort on it too... Maybe a fox?
-
I wish I had a small decal of my forum logo, about the size of the old OriginPC logo. That would be pretty sweet. I've got some 2400 and 3000 grit wet sanding paper and polishing compound to do the cut and buff job later this week.
It's actually very similar to the red color of the machines in your forum signature.Last edited: Aug 1, 2016 -

Maybe someone could vectorise it for you so you could print one?

I used to use these other two variations as an avatar associated with other email accounts, but ultimately opted for the red orb I currently use for all accounts since it is more generic and it ties all of my accounts together.
-
I Photoshop'd the original Firefox logo, cropped the inside and inserted my own orb backgrounds on the three variations I was using. I just ordered a couple. If they look nice enough I might include it in my mod. Will just have to wait and see if I like it or think it is too tacky. I generally shy away from decals and prefer a nondescript look, but I can use them for something else if I don't like the decals well enough to stick one of them on the lid. I found this place out of Bend, Oregon that does them inexpensively.

Something tasteful just helps add a bit of definition to the surface
-
OK, I polished up the lid a bit and added my decal. Not sure I like it as much as the plain red lid. Forgive the mediocre phone camera image quality.

The white ring is a bit hard. Softened down the white perhaps? The red color is very nice

Thanks. I will wait a few days and if I still don't like it I will peel it off. I could not get the decal in clear because they cannot print the white colors in the fox logo for some reason. I checked several vendors and all said the same thing. I guess there is no such thing as white printer ink... otherwise, I can't think of any reason they would not be able to. I wonder if a black racing stripe like I had on my yellow M18xR1 "hood" would look nice?
-
I don't remember how your yellow M18xR1 looked longer. Aw machines isn't something I think about anymore. They have been forgotten
. But maybe you can try to Crop, and allowing only the fox appears? Print a few suggestions and position on the lid. The white ring is massiv and to much.

I think I want a etched design on my new machine, not sure exactly what yet.

I'm not a big fan of decals on the display lid, but the decoration on your Aw is very nice. Perhaps because of the design of these M18x models. You could try a few design but in the end not all notebooks is suited for decals. But it is individuals and don't fit all. Probably is your Aw design the best for you if you prefer/want decals on the lid
More like a clean design.

I've pretty much always hated decals, but that looked amazing.
The fox decal peeled off clean and left no trace of having been there.Papusan likes this. -
That M18x looks beautiful. Debating whether I should have my Clevo painted the same color as my car LOL

White or light blue/pink pastel colors is probably the worst color you can use on laptops. Look at original special cars if you want painting your notebook.
-
This is my car lol that's the color I'd use. My Alienware was Nebula Red and my car is Ruby Red. I think it would look nice.
-
I will order a clevo from mythlogic since they offer this kind of paint (or vinyl wrap)

I have a metallic stardust grey on my car, it would probably not look too bad on the laptop.

That color is way better in person. Between that and the Lightning Blue for me.ssj92 likes this. -

There was one laptop we did that was painted white, then had a carbon fiber pattern hydro dip on it. I didn't want to give that one back.
Couldn't match it to my pathfinder, as I think it is like a gun metal gray. Well, half the laptops out there now are already kind of close as a dark grayish color. Pretty bland. -
but the nebula red is matte and car paint is going to be glossy, it'll make a huge difference even if the base color is the same due to light reflection

Something on the Eurocom website... and don't bother trying to do any url tricks as there's nothing on prices or full specs there.
http://www.eurocom.com/ec/specs(384)ec
1) MXM. It says MXM 3.0 but take it with some grains of salt.
2) 4kg... and 39.8 mm (previously was 35.7).
=> A lot more cooling?
3) Only 1 SATA drive possible... hmm...
4) 30th Sept release.

True, in this case, though it could go both ways. A matte red would look great on that car and a gloss red would look great on the laptop. -
It's the MSi barebones 16L1, similar to XoticPC's Force 16L1
Though I think Eurocom has to deal with svet for an unlocked bios this time, since he's semi-official bios modder on the MSi Gaming forum.
@Tanner@XoticPC - what kind of 3m vinyl would you recommend if I were to create a replica of the "300" laptop (see previous page)steberg likes this. -
Wow first time I've heard of this machine, very neat. It's nice to see more laptops with socketed desktop cpus.
Also is there any more info or speculation on the new MXM 3.1. I've noticed it mentioned in rumors and leaks but totally got no idea about it and that concerns me. Should hopefully be backwards compatible since they're not renaming it to MXM 4.0 - right?Last edited: Aug 10, 2016 -
saw it, seems similar to the GT72 but has different ports
only 3 usb, major turn off for me tbh -

MXM 3.1 is the current standard. -
As in 3.0 type B?
