Yes it follows the physical spec but added PCI-E gen 3 in 2012.

Anyhow we always knew that the cards (At least MSI's ones) would be MXM 3.0b

    ESS™ SABRE HiFi DAC!!

Woah thats a pretty significant improvement in my books. Damn was really planning on holding on my DM for at least 2 years but with pascal, this, and whatever improvements clevo added I might look into trading in for an upgrade. I wonder if Eurocom offers some really good trade in deals or if I should just straight out sell my current machine.

    • 1 x USB 2.0 port ? its good enough for peripherals but still kinda interesting seeing an old port
Also it lists 2 type-c ports but doesn't mention thunderbolt, and they seem to have changed to mDP instead of the full sized DisplayPorts.

    • 3.9Kg, Including Barebone, VGA card and 82WH Battery (with FHD panel)
    • 4.3Kg, Including Barebone, VGA card and 82WH Battery (with QFHD panel)

???? This is confusing. Why would the display add 0.4 Kg to the laptop, makes no sense.

Thought people would like to know that the Eurocom website now has the configuration page up for their Tornado (the one I posted earlier). There's a catch: no price or proper mention of Pascal GPUs. I would be aiming for this laptop or the P750 (if and when Eurocom actually sells it...), but it'd be nice if someone could give me an idea of how this chassis runs (hot or cool? port placements? serviceability? keyboard?)

    http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(2,384,0)ec

edit: they've also updated the mass (2.92 kg), so it's lighter and thinner than the 750. They've also tentatively priced it the same as their X4 (the current P750)

    Hi all,

I am potentially thinking about selling my p771dm-g and was wondering what best best way to format 2x850evo in RAID and a single 840evo would be for security reasons for selling on. P.s thinking about a the refreshed 17inch version from. Mysn when it comes out.

Secure erase in samsung magician will clear your data. You would need to format the array and break it up while running magician in AHCI mode.

    so

    P750DM : 15.20x10.32x1.41 | 7.5Lbs
    P750DM2: 15.60x10.64x1.59 | 6.45 lbs

its doesnt make sense, DM2 is bigger than DM but lighter ?

i hope Clevo hasnt added more bezel , specially when laptops are getting infinity displays or smaller bezels.

With Clevo cards, yes! With MSI cards, no. Someone has put an msi 1070 in a DM. Now I want to know the heatsink mods as the wider 1070 means the new heatsink may not fit our machines and the layout is slightly different on the card. Any resellers want to confirm the new DM2/3 heatsink with the DM for me?

    Any case

This is sad. Was looking for the upgrade to be hassle free! Hope i can selll my machine for a small loss or maybe just get a external box to house a full fat gpu... thats if the boxes are reasonable...

So, I priced it out for an hidevo 775dm3, you're looking at $2400 for a barebones 1080 machine (so about $3000 if you buy a silicon lottery 6700k 4.8ghz, 32gb corsair 3000 mhz kit, and clu thermal paste and have your own storage)...So plan accordingly. That is fhd display, not 4k...

Contact resellers, but I have not seen a 1080 that can fit in our machine. Wait until you see what msi puts out for a 1080 before you purchase. You may need a custom heatsink if you are keeping your machine...

    Yes there is.

You must have purchased from a Prema Partner to have one tho or you can donate to prema in his thread in the Clevo area and he will make a bios for you :)

I heard something about that but I thought it was just the seller installing the bios and support it in the warranty. Mine is from Eurocom, any chance I can get the bios from them? If not I am going to do what you said.

You should send them an email then to be sure.

If they refuse simply donate to Prema and he will sort you out.

I just read about the policies changes regarding Bios. Back when I purchased my clevo I swear I could download Bios from clevo website. Spent an hour looking for it lol.

I emailed Eurocom, I am positive they will provide me the latest original Bios, not so sure about Prema's one.

So since Nvidia has let the cat out of the bag about 10X0 laptops having 1440p@120hz screen options does anyone know which Clevo models are getting it? or can any re-sellers speak as to availability or when they will be taking orders for laptops equipped with said screen?

Before flashing Bios should I update intel ME firmware? XMG readme says update to firmware 11.0.10.1002 while mine is 11.0.0.1178. There are even newer versions but I will stick to whatever you guys tried.

good to know then, i'm still deciding if i go the upgrade route, namely 120hz display and a 1070m or just sell my book and get a P775DM3-G instead with a 1080 and a glorious 120hz Display.

most obvious advantages would be, faster boot time and booting with over 2TB drives. Theoretically Secure Boot should keep Malware in check who writes themselfes into the bootloader but yeah i'm not a fan of that

15 inch i don't know, but i read about 2 17 inch screens, one is from AUO which is supposed to have 5ms (? and TN Panel?) and the other one is a LG Panel which has a higher reaction time 25-30ms i think. The new MSI and Asus should have the screens equipped.

Edit: here is a quote from the forum DIRECTLINK HERE

So this must be a good discussion thread to watch, for someone with a Clevo P750DM-G hoping to upgrade to some brand and variant of the nvidia 1070? Right?
The new Clevo 1070 and 1080 MXM cards are sized/shaped differently so they won't fit into laptops like the P750DM correct? But the rumor is the 1070 from MSI will fit, right?
So I can turn on my lurking mode and try to restrain my self to checking this discussion to just once a day and hopefully someone with the right resources can test out some laptops with different Psacal cards?
There is hope to upgrade my P750DM-G?? Right? :p

Don't get your hopes up, Prema said one person managed to fit it with some modification...

Clevo's cards definitely dont seem to fit, so we can't say anything unless someone physically tries the cards, right? ;)

Well I'm definitely motivated to try different things to make it work, just don't have the budget to burn out a expensive video card or risk ruining a $2,000 laptop.
But I've owned these Clevo battery powered portable desktop computers before and have changed out MXM cards and lcd panels before. Just feels like when I was younger I had a more flexible budget for going crazy with parts to change out in these laptops...
I'm definitely going to watch this thread.
Heck, if I could find someplace to buy a MSI 1070 MXM card, I'd try it myself! Even if I had to run it without the heatsinks and jury rig a water cooling unit to it! :p

I was mad I was an early adopter of the zm and six months later, bam. Now, I'll either find a way or make due until I sell the machine and upgrade. Meanwhile, so long as I can tune, learn, and squeeze out performance, I'm good...
