    Hello Owners,

I was up to buy an P670, but then I saw this P775.

What do you think are the pros over the P650, except the LGA CPU?
As I see its thicker, so better cooling?
I would buy it with a 6700, would it run quite and cool out of the box or is repasting needed?
How is the build quality compared?
Any other reasons for this or the other?

    Thanks a lot.

Better cooling, support for the 1080 (and in MXM type cards) and 3k 120hz panel option.

However you do loose out on a heavier system and lower battery life.

Guys I contacted the official reseller of Clevo products for poland and I misspelled the 751 models name to DM3 (instead of DM2) and it turned out it's possible to order an actual P751DM3 with a 1080GTX?

    What do you guys think?

officially, the P751 (15 inch model) is only available with up to 1070. only the 17 inch models support the 1080. however, since Clevo 1060/1070/1080 mxm cards share the same form factor and external power supply, it should be possible to run a 1080 in the P751. but only if the cooling is up to it!

Exactly.. it was very surprising when they said they could import the model for me.. I am pretty sure it's a mistake.

Will definitely do :) already asked about the details and price. Also if the cooling system is modified to be able to take a 1080.

It's probably not a mistake since the MSI 16L13 socketed barebones (it's a 15'') is getting the 7700K AND 1080 by Jan. I was actually waiting on that configuration before my family crisis. My question is and as jaybee83 stated, how will cooling be handled? Based off the some really good rumors, the 1080 offered for these smaller laptops will be "cut" down. The 1080 in the 775DM3 and P870DM2/3 are rated for 200W. These smaller notebooks can only do 120W. Apparently, these 1080's will only be an improvement of 15 to 20% over a normal 1070.

If you want to be on the exact bleeding edge, a 15'' laptop with a 7700K and 1080 is going to turn a lot of heads and break a few hearts as well (imagine getting your score matched or broken by a smaller machine with less cooling)

I highly agree. I am going to get my big boy, P870DM3 with 1080 SLI, but I want a 15'' "business" laptop equipped with a 1080. That will be very portable. We'll see whether Clevo will offer this option or I'll likely go with the MSI socketed barebones.

Ok coming back with info. As suspected it was false info and they confirmed Clevo has no plans to make a 15" 1080GTX laptop due to heat.

well, too bad. still waiting on a community member to insert a 1080 into a 15 incher, its definitely possible since all pascal clevo cards share the same physical size. and with a little modding it should be possible to do that ;)

I don't know about that. If Eurocom is going to stuff a 1080 into the MSL barebones they're selling, I am sure Clevo can as well. I think this is salesman talk. Right now during the holiday season, everyone wants to sell the inventory they have. As a businessman myself, I sure wouldn't tell you about what's coming down the pipeline, specially if I have current inventory I want to sell.

Has anyone had any new ideas for heatsinking a nvme 950 Pro in these yet? The drive has constantly throttled due to temps. Better on full fan, but still ete a benchmark without significant throttling.

quite straight forward, actually: just stack thermal pads on top of the drive until its connected with the chassis / servicing hatch. that should take care of any throttling woes :)

The chassis is plastic though. I wouldn't think it would conduct much of anything.

my thoughts exactly, but apparently it helps! just ask @TomJGX :)

btw, managed to get my ram modules stable at 2800 mhz. no small feat in this machine... 3000 mhz still no dice, same with 2900 mhz. i can boot both fine, but tm5 still coughs up errors *rolls eyes* anyways, im tighteting up the timings at 2800 mhz and running memtest86+ overnight for stability. lets see how much more bandwidth i can squeeze out of those sticks ;)

Some people have put metal foil on the inside of the chassis to help it conduct heat away.

Hey guys, can you give me some input on the fan noise from the P750DM2-G? Are the fans themselves really loud or is it just the sound of a lot of air moving? Is it something easily controlled? Also, have you had much of an issue with light bleed on the 1080 IPS panel?

I ask because the P750DM2-G is at the top of my short list, but the Wired review has me a bit apprehensive when it states "The fan is loud, too. The slightest load activates it, and it sounds like a jet taking off." Since this sort of thing can be subjective I thought I'd ask the owners on this thread.

Guys, what driver are you using that works best (with G-Sync and all)
I am using 375.86 and although I used DDU to clean everything before installing the new driver (like I always do) I have serious problems... fps is locking at 30 (at times) for some unknown reasons.

Haha, I am not that noobie :))))

No, everything is fine (cpu/gpu temps, os, hardware, power)... except that for some reason the fps drops to 30... if I alt tab several times sometimes it comes back to life...

Installed the driver that is on the Clevo site and everything is fine again... but wanted something more... newer

I'm so disappointed that there is absolutely no info about the 15" 120hz screen yet :( no comparison or anything. If it's anything like the AW15 120hz I'd go for it instantly but nobody seems to know :<

Not entirely true. I have an P750DM-G (OCT 2015) and it has the Thunderbolt 1577 controller on board (same as DM3). I have the older BIOS revision (1.05.04, 10/05/2015), once I am able to break away from production I am sending my unit into my reseller to get the BIOS/EC updated. i'll post to this thread with whether I have eGPU support as soon as I am able.

Check your programs to see if they require a specific OS, otherwise 10 will become the standard moving forward for games with DX12 becoming the norm.

I have a P750DM and an Alienware 17 r3. Can I swap the GPU of the Sager to the Alienware if I flash the Vbios? I have done this before with an MSI using a Clevo card but before I open everything up I just want to be sure.

Aw has met Dead end. All hardware is soldered onto the motherboard. Same on all more recent models. Soon perhaps ram will be welded on MB such as Razer. Next step maybe ssd's.

Just a question, i have a P775DM, i looked into my device manager and saw this page. Intel 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset, Intel Xeon E3 - 1200/1500 V5/6.
Do they mean that i can use Xeon E3 V5 Processor on my P775DM?

    Yes with the right cable.

No, that device is used on both (hence the 100 series (As in z170)/C230 series).
